  • Evaluation of Native Rooster Based on Breeding Value of trait of
           Macroscopic and Microscopic Semen Quality

      Abstract: The aim of this research is to a determined the breeding value of native roosters based on macroscopic and microscopic semen. Ten native roosters were used in this research. Complete individual cage, semen collection tools and substance, macroscopic and microscopic tools, and substance were used in this research. The native rooster was rested for 2 weeks. Massage techniques were used for semen collection. Parameters observed were volume, pH, color, viscosity, smell, sperm concentration, and sperm livability. The semen collection was repeated 5 times. One-way analysis of variances was used for data analysis with the tools SPSS 16. The breeding value was estimated based on primary traits of semen and calculated for each rooster to make a rank. The results showed that significant parameters (P<0,05) are semen volume and sperm concentration, while the non-significant parameters (P'0,05) are pH semen and sperm livability. Semen color is yellowish-white, semen viscosity is medium-viscous and smell is spermin. The results of breeding value rank are rooster numbers 6, 7, 5, 3, 2, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 1. The conclusion is the breeding value of Native roosters is varied. The recommendation is Native chicken breeding need to apply selection used breeding value based on semen quality.

  • Protein Mass and Calcium Mass of Broiler Chicken with Added Nucleotides at
           Different Maintenance Temperatures

      Abstract: This study aims to examine the effect of adding nucleotides in broiler rations on the protein mass and calcium mass of broiler chicken reared at different temperatures. The material used was 135 broiler chickens aged 15 days with a weight of 462.20 ± 9 grams of unsex Ross strain and nucleotides imported from China produced by CBH Co. Ltd., China. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 3x3 factorial pattern with 5 replications. The treatment was carried out at the age of 15-35 days. The treatment given was the first factor adding nucleotides (T0 = nucleotides 0 g/kg feed, T1 = nucleotides 0.5 g/kg feed, T2 = nucleotides 1 g/kg feed) and the second factor was temperature (Heat = S1 = 30 – 32', Comfortable = S2 = 20 – 23', Natural = S3 = 24 – 34'). Parameters observed were protein content, calcium content, protein mass, and calcium mass of broiler chicken meat. The research data were analyzed using the F test of variance analysis, if there was a real treatment effect, then Duncan's test was continued. The results showed that there was no interaction between the addition of nucleotides with different maintenance temperatures on protein content, calcium content, protein mass, and calcium mass of meat. Nucleotide 0.05 g had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the protein content of the meat, the natural rearing temperature significantly affected the calcium content of the meat and the comfortable temperature had a significant effect on the protein mass of broiler meat. This study concludes that the addition of 0.05 g of nucleotides can meet the needs of nucleotide synthesis in the body of broiler chickens by increasing the protein content of the meat.

  • Weight and Lenght of Digestive Organs of Super Native Chickens Fed of
           Amorphophallus companulatus Tuber Flour

      Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the use of Amorphophallus companulatus (AC) tuber flour in feed on the weight and length of the digestive organs of super-native chickens. This research was conducted for 8 weeks. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications (P0 = feed without AC tuber flour, P1 = feed containing 5% AC tuber flour, P2 = feed containing AC tuber flour 7.5%, and P3 = feed containing 10% AC tuber flour). The results showed that the use of AC tuber flour in the super free-range chicken feed had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the weight and length of the small intestine and significantly (P<0.05) on pancreatic weight, but had no effect (P>0 .05) against gizzard. It was concluded that AC bulbs could be used up to 10% in super-free-range chicken feed. the use of AC tuber flour as much as 7.5% in super free-range chicken feed resulted in the highest intestinal weight, intestinal length, and pancreas weight.

  • Analysis of Flavonoids and Saponins of Contents in the Ration of Sheep
           Added with Multinutrient Block with Different Level of Papaya Leaves Flour

      Abstract: This study aimed to examine the composition of flavonoids and saponins in sheep rations added with multi-nutrient blocks with different levels of papaya leaves (0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%). The research design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment used was T0: sheep ration added MNB without papaya leaves flour, T1: sheep ration added MNB using 2% papaya leaves flour, T2: sheep ration added MNB using 4% papaya leaves flour, and T3: sheep ration added MNB using 6% papaya leaves flour. The parameters reviewed were flavonoids and saponins. The materials used were sheep ration (forage and concentrate), multi-nutrient blocks and papaya leaves flour. The method used is making complete rations, making MNB, and the analysis stage. The treatment used in the study was a complete ration, consisting of forage and concentrate added with multi-nutrient blocks with papaya leaf levels of 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%. The results of the study were that sheep ration added MNB with different levels of papaya leaves flour did not show an increase in flavonoids and saponins. The highest flavonoids content was found at sheep ration added MNB using 4% papaya leaves flour while the highest saponin content was found at sheep ration added MNB using 6% papaya leaves flour.

  • Analysis of the Layer Farm Business on BUMDes “Mandiri” and Breeder
           Partners in Babakan Bogor Village Kabawetan Subdistrict Kepahiang District

      Abstract: This study aims to analyze the income of the BUMDes “Mandiri”  layer chicken farm and partner farms, as well as the size of the income earned by BUMDes “Mandiri”  and breeder partners from the profit-sharing system carried out together. The research respondents were the BUMDes “Mandiri”  farm manager and two breeder partners. Operating income is calculated by finding the difference between business revenues and total business costs incurred. The share received by BUMDes “Mandiri”  and partner farmers from partner farm income is determined based on the percentage agreed in the partnership agreement, namely 51% for BUMDes “Mandiri”  and 49% for breeder partners. The results showed that the income of the BUMDes “Mandiri”  livestock business in one month was Rp. 3,668,890.00 or Rp. 3,668.89/head, while the partner's husbandry business income was Rp. 6,404,505.00 or Rp. 12,809.00/head. The portion of the partner's husbandry business income that belongs to BUMDes “Mandiri” is Rp. 3,266,295.00/month and that which belongs to breeder partners is Rp. 3,138,210.00/month.

  • pH, Total Bacteria and Total Fungi Litter Fermentation at Different
           Ripening Durations

      Abstract: This study aims to examine the effect of fermentation time on pH levels, total bacteria and total fungi litter chicken fermented. The research method was carried out by collecting various chicken litters from 16 closed house cages in Semarang City, Demak Regency and Kendal Regency, then combined and fermented. The study used a completely randomized design in the direction of 4 treatments and 4 replications, the treatments were T0 = 0 week litter curing; T1 = 3 weeks litter curing; T2 = 6 weeks of litter curing; T3 = 9 weeks litter curing. The parameters observed were pH value, total bacteria and total litter fungi in broiler chickens. The results showed that there was a significant effect (P <0.05) between curing time on the pH value and the total litter bacteria in fermented broiler chickens. The longer the curing time, the pH value decreases, because the longer fermentation process produces more organic acids. The results of the calculation of total bacteria show that the best treatment is the T2 treatment with the number of bacteria as much as 8.12 x 107 log CFU / g. Meanwhile, the total fungus had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on all treatments. The conclusion of this research is the best chicken litter fermentation at 6 weeks duration of ripening. Produce a total of bacteria and fungi as much as 0.25 x 103 CFU/g and indicated that they were not pathogenic bacteria and fungi.

  • Effect of Sakura Block on Milk Production and Milk Quality of FH Cows in
           Late Lactation

      Abstract: This study aims to evaluate milk production, fat content, and protein content of Friesian Holland (FH) dairy cow's milk by giving Sakura block at the final lactation of FH cow. The design used was the Latin Square Design (LSD), with treatments of P0 (0 Sakura blocks), P1 (300 gr Sakura blocks), P2 (600 gr Sakura blocks), and P3 (900 gr Sakura blocks). This study involved four dairy cows for four periods of which period consisted of 10 treatment days, where the last 3 days of each period were the milk sample collection. Milk production and feed consumption were measured and weighed daily. The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the consumption of dry matter ratio and no significant effect (P> 0.05) on milk production, fat content, and milk protein.

  • Correlation of Sentul Chicken Body Weight at DOC age of 1, 2 and 3 Months

      Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between body weight and body weight gain of Sentul chickens aged DOC, 1, 2, and 3 months.  The research materials were Sentul and Merawang chicken. This research method was an experimental method with a sample of 41 males and 41 females from each breed. The data collected includes; body weight and body weight gain of DOC-3 months old. The data that have been collected were analyzed using the t-test of average differences (t-test), the relationship between body weights was analyzed using the correlation test. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the body weights of male and female of Sentul chicken aged DOC-2 months were not significantly different (P>0.05), but significantly different (P<0.05) at the age of 3 months. The highest body weight gain was at 1-2 months in both males and females. The highest correlation between body weights for a certain age is between 1-2 months so that 1-month body weight is a good bodyweight for selection based on body weight.

  • Quality of Imported Beef in Indonesia

      Abstract: Imported beef cattle are cattle (not breeds) imported from abroad to Indonesia, which have superior characteristics to be kept for a certain period to produce meat. The purpose of this research is to explore the quality of imported beef cattle entering Indonesia. The object of the research is beef cattle Breed Brahman Cross, Heifers type as many as 331 heads imported from Australia. The variables observed were Arrival weight (AW), Reweigh (RW), Selling Weight (SW), Weight Difference (WD), Fattening Duration (FD), and Average Daily Gain (ADG). Data analysis used Descriptives Analysis, Bivariate Correlations, and Linear Regression methods with IBM SPSS Statistics tools. The results showed that the lowest AW was 227 kg and the highest was 480 kg; the average weight of the RW results is 354.43 kg; The lowest SW was 361 kg and the highest was 619 kg with an average SW of 481.34 kg; The lowest FD is 70 days and the highest is 109 days; The lowest ADG is 0.62 kg and the highest is 2.43 kg with an average ADG of 1.34 kg. This study concludes that the Selling Weight (SW) of imported beef cattle Breed Brahman Cross-type Heifers is positively and significantly affected by the arrival weight (AW) of 44.6%, Re-weighing (RW) of 52.6%, weight difference (DW) of 18%, and Average Daily Gain (ADG) of 38.3%.

  • Eco-enzyme Disinfection in Pig Housing as an Effort to Suppress Esherechia
           coli Population

      Abstract: Pig farms are susceptible to infection by Escherechia coli bacteria which causes Colibacillosis. A dirty cage is one of the causes. This can be prevented by disinfection. Eco- enzymes are fermented fruits that contain enzymes and are anti-microbial. This study aims to find a dilution of Eco- enzyme that can suppress the population of Escherechia coli in pig pens. The study was carried out in two stages, first was in in vitro to find the best treatment and second was in in vivo to determine the decrease in the population of E. coli in pig pens after disinfection with Eco-enzymes. The in vitro treatments were P1: Eco enzyme diluted 1:10; P2 1:20 and P3 1:30. Parameters are the area of the inhibition zone and the antimicrobial index. In an in-vivo study, the data taken were the population of E. coli on the floor of the cage and in the waterways before and after disinfection. The results showed that Eco enzyme diluted 1:30 had the best inhibition zone and antimicrobial index. Disinfection of pig pens using Eco-enzyme dilution of 1:30 was successful in reducing the population of E.coli in pig pens.

  • Gestation Length and Litter Size of New Zealand White Grade Rabbit

      Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine performances and factors that influence the gestation length (GL) and litter size (LS) of New Zealand White Grade (NZW Grade) rabbits. Reproduction records of NZW Grade rabbits were taken from April 2020 to March 2021. Data analysis was carried out using the general linear model (GLM) procedure from Statistical Analysis System (SAS) University Edition V.6p.2. software. Farm showed a significant effect (P<0.001) on LS and significant season (P<0.05) on GL and LS. GL in the rainy season (31.56) was shorter than the GL in the summer (32.26), but the LS in the rainy season (7.06) was greater than the LS in the rainy season (6.37). Maintenance management should be improved to reduce the impact of the season on GL and LS NZW Grade rabbits.
