  • FORMULATION AND TEST OF ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF EMULGEL ESSENTIAL OIL OF
           CITRONELLA (CYMBOPOGON NARDUS (L.) RENDLE) AND ALOE VERA (ALOE VERA (L.)
           BURM. F.) EXTRACT AGAINST PROPIONIBACTERIUM ACNES

      Abstract: Background: Acne is described as an abnormal skin condition caused by the disruption of excess oil production and collaboration with bacteria. Aloe vera and citronella oil are plants that have antibacterial properties, including acne-causing bacteria. Purpose: To obtain a formulation that has an anti-acne effect. Method: This research method is experimental in which the formulation of citronella oil emulgel and aloe vera extract is made as much as 10-15 grams in each formula by varying the additional ingredients in each formulation. This formula was made from three different concentrations (F1 (6%:4%), F2 (4%:6%), and F3 (5%:10%)) and tested the physical stability, among others, organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, dispersion and antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes. Result: There was no significant difference between the organoleptic test, pH, homogeneity, and inclusion in the eligible category. In contrast, the dispersion test had a slight difference in F2 and F3, which did not meet the requirements. Conclusion: Inhibitory activity test of the preparations obtained the average diameter of citronella oil emulgel preparations and aloe vera extract at concentrations of F1 (6%:4%), F2 (4%:6%), and F3 (5%:10%) are 11 mm, 10.7 mm and 16 mm and the ability to inhibit bacteria by all concentrations was in a strong category. Among the three formulations known to have the most remarkable effectiveness was at F3 (5%:10%) with an inhibitory diameter of F3 16 mm.

  • ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF MARIGOLD FLOWER (TAGETES ERECTA L.) ETHANOL
           EXTRACT CREAM AGAINST STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS

      Abstract: Background: Acne is caused by inflammation and obstruction of the skin pores, which traps excess oil (acne vulgaris). The bacterium Staphylococcus aureus is the causative agent of acne. Treatment and prevention efforts can be made traditionally. Purpose: Testing the antibacterial efficacy of the marigold flower ethanol extract cream (Tagetes erecta L.) against Staphylococcus aureus. Method: This type of research is descriptive exploratory and experimental. Samples of ethanol extract from marigold flowers (Tagetes erecta L.) were formulated into three treatments, namely concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 100% with three replications. Antibacterial efficacy testing was carried out by the agar well diffusion method. Data analysis used One-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests. Result: The inhibition zones produced by the ethanolic extract of marigold flowers were 8.59 ± 0.047, 9.23 ± 0.026, and 10.23 ± 0.044 respectively. Thus, a higher concentration of the ethanolic extract of marigold flowers in the cream produced more significant inhibitory activity. Conclusion: The ethanol extract cream of marigold flower (Tagetes erecta L.) showed antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and is suitable to be applied as a cream for the traditional treatment of acne (acne vulgaris).

  • LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND MOTIVATION ON THEUSE DENTURES BY PEOPLE WHO LOSE
           TEETH IN PUSAKA RAKYAT VILLAGE BEKASI

      Abstract: Background: Tooth loss is condition in which a tooth falls out of the socket or out of place. Missing teeth that aren’t replaced immediately can interfere with mastication, and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder. Using dentures is one of the right ways to deal with missing teeth, but not everyone wants to replace missing teeth with dentures. Low use of dentures is influenced by level of knowledge and motivation of individuals in meeting denture needs. Several factors that influence level of knowledge and motivation are age, gender, education level, occupation, and income. Purpose: To determine level of knowledge and motivation toward use of dentures by people who have lost their teeth in Pusaka Rakyat Village, Tarumajaya District, Bekasi Regency. Method: Quantitative descriptive with sample 100 people, has criteria including people in Pusaka Rakyat Village who are 20 years old, have lost at least one tooth element, and never used dentures. Data collection was carried out in February-April 2021 by filling questionnaires by respondents. Result: Chi-Square test with significance p-value<0.05 found significant relationship between age and level of knowledge and occupation with motivation to use dentures. Conclusion: Age and occupation are very influential on a person's motivation and motivation is very influential on a person's income, so they will be more aware about dentures.

  • PROCESSING REMOVABLE ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE FOR SINGLE TOOTH ANTERIOR
           CROSSBITE USING EXPANSION SCREW

      Abstract: Background: Anterior crossbite is a case that when upper anterior are positioned palatally than lower anterior teeth in centric occlusion. Orthodontic appliances using expansion screw could be solution for tooth anterior crossbite treatment. Purpose: To figure out the optimal fabrication process of orthodontic appliances in single tooth anterior crossbite case using expansion screw. Case analysis: Dental laboratory provided the maxillary dental appliance with single tooth anterior crossbite on teeth 21. Dental technician also received orthodontic appliance using expansion screw. Result: Orthodontic appliance design was Adams claps on teeth 16, 26, labial bow on teeth 13, 12, 11, 21, 22, 23. Additional posterior bite plane, also expansion screw was located on maxillary left first incisor, palatal section. Conclusion: Design and making orthodontic appliances using expansion screw begins with drawing design, positioning Adams clasps and labial bow sectional screw mini mounting, then acrylic packing. Final step was finishing polishing acrylic plate.

  • RISK FACTORS OF SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTHS AMONG ELEMETARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
           IN CENTRAL SUMBA – WEST NUSA TENGGARA

      Abstract: Background: Soil Transmitted Helminhs (STH) infection is one of health issues in Indonesia. Helmintiasis is a disease commonly found among elementary school. Purpose: To identify risk factor related to the transmission of infection STH in Central Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Method: The research was done by analytical description based on cross-sectional study. Primary data on risk factors were colleted by which qustionnaire for students fourth to sixth grade, age ranged 8-15 years old. Diagnosis was established using Kato Katz modification method. The data were is analyzed using by cross-sectional of Chi-square test with confidence interval 95% or p-value <0.05 categorized as significant. Result: The proportion of infection in male was 47.1% and in females was 50.9%. The proportion of STH infections was 83.3%, mostly found in fifth grade children (36.6%) and aged 8-11 years (66.6%). The most common type of worm egg infection found in feces was mixed infection of Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura (35.6%), followed by a single infection with T. trichiura (32.8%) and the least number was A. lumbricoides (14. 9%).STH infections have significant related to some risk factors such as defecating not in the latrine, not washing hand with water and soap before eating and after defecated, not practicing hand washing properly, biting nails, sucking fingers, not cutting nails once a week, and barefood. The highest risk factor of STH infection in Central Sumba was defecating not in the latrine (PR=135.500; CI 95% (34.062 - 539.020)). Conclusion: The proportion of STH infections is still quite high due to low personal hygiene and open defecation.

  • THE ANALYSIS OF THE RISK FACTORS OF UNSAFE BEHAVIOR AMONG CONSTRUCTION
           WORKERS IN TANGERANG

      Abstract: Background: The Minister of Manpower stated that the construction sector contributed to the highest number of work accidents. The cause of construction-sector work-accidents as much as 40% came from unsafe behavior from workers. Unsafe behavior is described as the possibility of individuals not following safety standards, procedures, instructions, and criteria specific to the work that the organization applies to. According to a preliminary study, 6 out of 10 workers (60%) have unsafe behavior while working. Purpose: To find out the risk factors of unsafe behavior in construction workers at the Cartenz apartment construction project in Tower D, PT. Nusa Raya Cipta, Tangerang in 2021. Method: A cross-sectional design was used in this present study. The population and sample included 42 workers that were used as total sampling technique. The primary data were collected by questionnaire, whereas the analysis was done with the Chi-square test in bivariate analysis. Result: The analysis showed that 40.5% workers had unsafe behavior, 45.2% had poor knowledge, 31% showed bad attitudes, 52.4% had new work period, and 42.9% had poor supervision. Bivariate analysis indicated that knowledge (p-value 0.016), attitude (p-value 0.028), work period (p-value 0.004), and supervision (p-value 0.041) are associated with unsafe behavior. Conclusion: The risk factors of unsafe behavior in construction workers in Tangerang include knowledge, work period, attitudes, and supervision.

  • BETEL LEAF OIL AS A NATURAL DISINFECTION AGENT IN RADIOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT
           (STUDY OF MICROBIAL QUANTITY OF RADIOGRAPHIC CASSETTE)

      Abstract: Background: Betel leaf oil is a wonderful natural antiseptic. Betel leaf oil is rich in polyphenols, especially chavicol, which can be used to protect against microbe pathogens that cause infection. The cause of the spread of nosocomial infections in radiology can occur using a radiographic cassette. Previous research has found that radiographic cassette contains microorganisms and fungi. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of using betel leaf oil as a natural disinfection on a radiographic cassette. Method: Quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test design designs was carried out by calculating the number of microbes, including Total Plate Count (TPC), Staphylococcus, and fungi. The study on 12 conventional radiographic cassettes was calculated using the swab method before and after cleaning with betel leaf oil. The data were analyzed descriptively to illustrate the rate of decline. Result: The results showed that the percentage rate of decline after the radiographic cassette was cleaned with betel leaf oil was ALT (17.8%), Staphylococcus (57.41%), and fungi (37.21%). Conclusion: Betel leaf oil can be used as alternative natural disinfection on radiographic cassettes, quite effectively suppressing the activity and number of microbes present.

  • AN NOISE MAPPING IN THE TURBINE AREA AT PT POMI

      Abstract: Background: One of the problems faced by industrial companies that use large machines and work equipment is noise. Steam power plant companies will certainly face noise problems in their work areas. PT. Paiton Operation and Maintenance Indonesia is one of the private power generation companies in East Java which manages three units of PLTU (Steam-Electric Power Plant) which in the process operates using a turbo generator. In addition, this company uses machines and equipment that produce noise that can potentially interfere with the health of the workers. Purpose: To map the noise with Golden Surfer software and to analyze the control efforts that had been carried out. Method: This research used an observational method and the analysis was done using Golden Surfer software. Result: The results of this study indicated that in general the noise that occurred in the turbine area exceeded the threshold value which was >85 dB. Furthermore, the results of the mapping showed the distribution pattern of noise levels that occurred in the turbine area starting from the first floor to the fifth floor. Noise control efforts were also carried out by the company, including noise measurements, scheduled preventive maintenance for machine repairs, safety sign, audiometric checks, work procedures, and PPE. Conclusion: In addition to this noise mapping, noise control efforts that have been carried out by the company will reduce the risk of health problems for workers. Thus, noise mapping can be used as a basic reference for companies to be able to determine additional noise control as an effort to prevent and control noise.

  • THE CORRELATION AMONG KNOWLEDGE OF OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (OSH),
           SAFETY AWARENESS AND UNSAFE ACTION ON NURSES IN HOSPITAL

      Abstract: Background: Unsafe work behavior, such as not wearing PPE, not following work procedures and work safety regulations, and not working carefully is an action that caused 88% of work accidents. The rate of occurrence of minor work accidents in hospitals is 20% higher than workers in other industries. Purpose: To prove that there was a correlation between knowledge of OSH as well as safety awareness and unsafe action on nurses in Hospital X. Method: This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample was 88 respondents, and it was taken by using the total sampling technique. The research instrument used was a valid and reliable questionnaire. Data analysis used Somer's d test for bivariate data processing and the Ordinal Logistics Regression test. Result: The results of the Somer's d test for correlation between the knowledge of OSH and unsafe action resulted in p-value 0.00, while the results of the Somer's d test for correlation between safety awareness and unsafe action resulted in p-value 0.000. Furthermore, the Ordinal Logistics Regression test that was carried out with the independent variable in the study that had a greater effect on unsafe action was safety awareness with a wald value of 15.001. The results of the Nagelkerke R-square were 0.482 (48.2%), hence the independent variables could explain the dependent variable by 48.2%. Conclusion: The result of this study showed that there was a significant correlation between the knowledge of occupational health and safety awareness with unsafe action.
