  • Design of Power Line Management System Using Power Line Communication for
           Home Appliances

      Abstract: Home power utilization has a tendency to develop in the extent to the increment in the quantity of expansive measured electric home appliances. An installed system with no new additional wiring has been made for home power the board. By utilizing Power Line Communication (PLC) innovation, electric home appliances can be controlled and monitored through household power lines. We portray a PLC modem that coordinates the different AC power attachments, the PLC modem, and a microcontroller into an electrical plug to switch the power of the attachments ON/OFF. The framework uses existing force lines to send the information to a particular node or to broadcast to different power line nodes. The address is allocated to every receiver and its response is focused around their appropriate commands. The receiver will project the inforrmation and can also be used to control it. This framework empowers the client to control the on/off and the power utilization remotely without pestering with additional wiring. Tera Term software supports the plug-in mechanism and allows creating many useful extensions to the application such as Serial port connections, TCP/IP (telnet, SSH1, SSH2) connections. The framework is exceptionally advantageous and can be utilized by simply connecting it to.

  • Frequency Regulation in Two Area System with PSO Driven PID Technique

      Abstract: Now a modern days power system structures gives a major advantages in applications at the time, losses are also produced. To get the stable operation of this structured power system need balancing between total generation with total load demand and system losses. Rising and falling load demand throws off the real and reactive power balances. As a result, the system frequency and tie line interchange power deviate from their pre-programmed values. A significant change in system frequency can result in system failure.. In that scenario load frequency control optimization techniques is used Multiple Connect Area System to provide reliable and quality operation on frequency, tie line power flow.The Load Frequency Control (LFC) problem of an interconnected power system is solved using a recently proposed optimization method known as particle swarm optimization (PSO). In each section of the system, a standard Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller is employed for control. The PSO method of optimization is used to calculate the controllers' optimum gain values KP, KI, and KD.

      Abstract: Increasing penetration of renewable energy significantly alters the network power flow in terms of direction as well as magnitude. The intermittent and uncertain nature of renewable inputs is a major concern since the power flow in the system is affected considerably. Hence to support bulk integration of renewable energy in the power system, bulk or distributed energy storage systems can be implemented. The energy storage system is utilized to absorb the excess power and meet the demand to avoid violation of system constraints. In this work, a multi-period ac optimal power flow (OPF) problem with energy storage systems (ESSs) is formulated and a set of candidate buses for ESS installation are identified based on economic criterion. A novel hybrid approach of conventional cum heuristic method, newton raphson based particle swarm optimization (NRPSO) method is proposed to optimize the allocation problem. Tests are carried out on IEEE 14-bus system and modified IEEE 14–bus system integrated with wind generation for variable load condition using MATLAB, to assess the optimal location of energy storages on system operation.

  • Performance Investigation on Fault Analysis in Power Transformer using

      Abstract: This article presents the fault analysis and differential protection scheme of the three phase Power Transformers (PT). The proposed and designed relay operates mainly during the internal fault condition and it must be insensitive to any fault outside the zone of protection. In this paper, a designed and modified fuzzy logic controller based differential protection schemes have been used to product the system. The external and internal fault condition is found using the proposed method and the product system is blocks are tripped. The simulation result of modified Fuzzy Logic Controller with disparity relay for three phase transformer shows fast tripping during external and internal fault and also avoids the multiple operation of relay during external fault. The Fuzzy logic controller Inference Based differential relays to protect and isolate the transformer in various fault conditions using the proposed method breakers. The developed and designed system have rejection trip signal for internal and external faults. In this article, the proposed system is used to analyzing with 200MVA, Delta /Star, 50Hz, three phase transformer. The simulation result are tested with different phase conditions and results are compared the proposed system performance. The two study cases are presented to improve the system performance.

  • Development of Slip Power Recovery Scheme sing Buck-Boost Chopper for
           Performance enhancement of Wound Rotor IM Drive

      Abstract: This paper presents the mathematical modeling and testing of wound rotor induction motor drive (WRIMD) to develop the slip power recovery scheme (SPRS) using buck-boost chopper control techniques improving the performance of drive. The main focus of this research work is on the understanding of methodological development of Simulink model of SPRS. Various mathematical equations describing performance characteristics of WRIMD using SPRS with buck-boost chopper are derived. The performance parameters are taken as active power and reactive power required by induction motor, power factor, and efficiency of WRIMD. The ratings of components of SPRS i.e., transformer, diode bridge, inverter bridge, DC link inductor and buck-boost chopper are chosen considering 33% speed control range of WRIM below the synchronous speed. Different tests viz., open rotor, no-load, block rotor, and retardation tests are conducted on 3-phase, 2hp WRIM and open and short circuit tests on 3-phase transformer in the laboratory to determine the equivalent circuit parameters of WRIM and transformer for development of Simulink model. Ratings of the converter and inverter are selected based on the maximum value of the voltage and current fedback to the supply source and PIV ratings of diodes and thyristors. Ratings of the parts of buck-boost chopper are determined taking into account the minimum input voltage, maximum input voltage, nominal output voltage, maximum output current, and switching frequency of operation. The model of SPRS based IMD is developed in the Simulink using the parameters obtained from above tests conducted on induction motor and transformer.

  • Analysis of Low Power Data Server in Distributed Environments

      Abstract: The delta air temperature of a server farm is straightforwardly connected with the proficiency of the cooling framework. In the event that the temperature can be raised without critical adverse consequences on the power utilization and lifetime dependability of the IT supplies, the server farm cooling can be more proficient and the expense of activity can be decreased. In this work, we dissect the power upward and dependability loss of a server framework by raising its working temperature. By making changes to the processor execution, our recreation results show that the complete power utilization of server farm can be decreased by 10% to 30% with 10 10°C to 15 15°C expansion in bay air temperature, while accomplishing similar unwavering quality and execution objectives. The development of both the methods of cooling and processor implementation gives 10 to 30% saving in power of handling more data with just increasing 10% of temperature. This shows the low power data handing with less power in the distributed environments. While keeping a similar presentation and dependability targets low power handling and power spend for handling the data can be controlled with the above techniques and hence can be utilized in complex distributed environments and the handling of huge data proportional to the power in the area.
