  • Atomization of living space and diffusion of labor activity in the context
of coronacrisis: manifestations, consequences and vectors of overcoming

    • Abstract: The symbiosis of new opportunities caused by the breakthrough technologies of the digital age (“big bang-1”) and new challenges and threats caused by sanitary and epidemiological requirements of the coronavirus pandemic (“big bang-2”) leads to a reduction in the living space of an economically active person. The ability to work remotely using information and communication systems (voluntary isolation), on the one hand, and quarantine restrictions (forced isolation), on the other, lead to atomization of a person. At the same time, the time boundaries between work and leisure are being erased, leisure acquires signs of precariousness, a convergence of work and leisure takes place. The relevance of this study is due to the need for a renewed awareness of what kind of format of labor activity will be there in the pandemic and post-pandemic era. Scientific and practical significance of the study is to determine restoration vectors of humancentered, socially acceptable living space of a man of labor, which will help overcome coronacrisis in the social and labor sphere. The main result of the study is the author’s mental model of metamorphoses of labor activity as a component of the new (ab)normality of pandemic and post-pandemic eras. The research subject is the theoretical and applied principles of atomization of the living space of economically active people and the diffusion of labor under the influence of new opportunities and constraints produced by the digital economy and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodological basis for achieving the set goal is a systematic approach that allows avoiding the fragmentary nature of research, one-sided judgments and conclusions in the study of the interrelated phenomena of living space atomization and labor activity diffusion. The aim of the study is to form scientific ideas about transformations taking place in the field of labor and leisure in the digital age under the influence of coronacrisis. It is proved that the coronacrisis gives rise to a new type of person – an atomized one, which is being increasingly exposed to «negative» individualism influence. The study outlines the contours of the mental model of the organization of work activity in the post-COVID period based on overcoming «negative» individualism, the emergence of a new philosophy of the time, and the formation of an updated concept of leisure culture. Also, the necessity of developing a consolidated multilevel model of social and labor relations in the new socio-economic reality and scientific and applied scenario of its implementation in the system of social and labor development of Ukrainian society is substantiated.

  • Personal and reliability factors affecting adoption and utilization of
e-government: An effect of intention to use

    • Abstract: This study aims to examine and prove the effect of personal and reliability factors on both the adoption as well as the utilization of e-government indirectly through the intention to use. The proposed model uses various theories, such as technology acceptance, diffusion of innovation, and unified theory of acceptance and use of technologies. It incorporates contracts from the e-government adoption and usage model to explore and understand the factors that drive different types of e-technology adoption and use. Employing purposive sample, the paper collected around 158 respondents that were used to support this study. According to the findings, there are 103 government employees in the sample, 36 general public, and 19 businessmen in the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta (Indonesia). After the questionnaire’s reliability and validity were rigorously evaluated, the data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The results indicate that personal factors and perceived trust significantly affect the adoption and the utilization of e-government. In addition, reliability variables highly influence intention to use. Moreover, intention to use does not mediate the effect of personal factors, reliability factors, and e-government adoption use. This study is expected to be material for consideration and evaluation of the quality of ICTs-based public information for government officials and staff.

  • Influence of financial support of human capital development on economic
           growth

    • Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified the issue of strengthening the financial support of human capital development and enhancing its impact on economic growth. This study aims to assess the impact of financial support of human capital development in terms of public spending on health and education on economic growth. Economic-statistical methods and correlation-regression analysis are used to determine the impact of the share of public spending on health and education in GDP on real GDP, and to assess the characteristics of financial support of human capital development. The study reveals evidence of a link between the level of public funding for human capital development and real GDP. At the same time, for Ukraine and the countries-full members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, in particular Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, and Russia, the results of the study were mixed. In recent years, with the share of public spending on health and education in GDP growing by 1 percentage point, real GDP has grown in 4 and 5 countries, respectively, and decreased in 5 and 4 countries out of 9 studied. The results show that a significant deterrent to strengthening the financial support of human capital development and its impact on economic growth is a significant level of uncertainty in economic processes, which determines the importance of revising the forms and methods of public financing of human capital.

  • Factors influencing decisions of satellite office users in the new normal
           era: Evidence from Indonesia

    • Abstract: COVID-19 affects all aspects of life, including work patterns, work behavior, and daily routines. It has also prompted organizations to change how they operate, working more from outside the office due to government restrictions. Therefore, many activity restrictions were introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, office activities must continue. This creates a new need for the availability of satellite offices as a solution for companies and employees in carrying out organizational activities. This paper analyzes factors that influence the selection of satellite offices during the COVID-19 pandemic and the new normal. Quantitative research was used in this study; the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis methods and cross-tabulation analysis. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 65 users of the satellite offices in Jakarta. The results show that the majority of users choose a satellite office by considering the proximity to their place of residence, and room comfort, which is then followed by the availability and stability of internet access. In general, satellite office users also consider the price and choose the daily billing system over other billing systems. Thus, workspace providers in the satellite office can formulate the right strategy to attract satellite office users by choosing a proper location, fulfilling room comfort facilities, price positioning, and the billing system used.

  • Interest rate spread determinant based on the interdependency relationship
between a bank’s loan rate and time deposit rate

    • Abstract: This study analyzes the factors responsible for the lower net interest rate at commercial banks located in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Data were collected from 35, 10 and 13 commercial banks in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, respectively, from 2012 to 2020 using the Fixed effect model. The Simultaneous Equation Model was used to analyze the macroeconomic factors and banks’ specific characteristics towards Loan and Time Deposit rates. The result showed that macroeconomic factors, such as the inflation rate, significantly affect loan and time deposit rates in these countries. In Indonesia, bank competition should be reduced and banks’ stability should be higher to minimize Net Interest Margin Spread (difference between Loan Rate and Deposit Rate). In the Philippines, banks should increase their capital and liquidity. So, they will be more confident and prudent in lowering their NIM. Thailand’s banking industry has unique characteristics with high monopoly power. The bigger and greater the market share, the larger the interest rate spread on customers. Therefore, regulators in each country need to consider these important variables when making decisions on lowering the net interest rates by banks to enhance social welfare.

  • The role of personality traits, financial literacy and behavior on
investment intentions and family support as a moderating variable

    • Abstract: Investment refers to various actions taken by individuals, including the younger generation in Indonesia, to prepare for the future. There are many programs around investment offered by the government in Indonesia for the short to long term. Therefore, this study aims to examine the direct and indirect effects of personality traits, financial literacy, and behavior and family support on investment intentions using a quantitative approach. In addition, this study is also intended to add to the limited empirical evidence regarding investment among students in Indonesia. The model of this research framework is based on collaboration between theory and previous research as a reference in strengthening the justification of the findings. The sample consisted of 341 students spread throughout Indonesia, while the data was collected using a questionnaire distributed online and analyzed using the Smart-PLS. The overall findings of this study indicate that personality, financial literacy, and behavior have a significant effect on investment intentions among students in Indonesia. Furthermore, financial behavior indicates the role of intermediaries, while family support does not strengthen the effect of financial literacy on investment intentions among students in Indonesia. The students who take financial management courses will be more aware of the importance of financial literacy and financial behavior for investment intentions. Recommendations for further research can relate other variables affecting investment intentions that were not examined in this study.

  • The interplay of corporate tax planning and corporate governance on firm
value: Evidence from listed NGX consumer goods firms

    • Abstract: The study investigates the interactive impact of tax planning and CG on firm value of the listed Nigerian consumer goods firms by examining whether this relationship is further strengthened or weakened in the presence of strong corporate governance. From the population of the entire 21 consumer goods firms of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), 19 firms with complete data were selected as a sample. Data were collected from the annual reports of these firms and both descriptive and inferential analyses were employed to estimate the relationship between the variables. Tax planning was measured using the effective tax rate and book-tax difference, firm value using Tobin’s q, while corporate governance was measured using board independence. The fixed effect panel regression was used to estimate the relationship. The study revealed a positive relationship between tax planning (for both proxies) and firm value although the relationship is statistically insignificant (p = 0.0981 and 0.387). Also, there is limited evidence to support the assertion that the interactive effect of tax planning and firm value is significantly moderated by corporate governance (p = 0.818). The combined implication is that evidence on the moderating effect of corporate governance on tax planning and firm value is limited and should be interpreted with caution suggesting that more empirical research should be carried out in this area. In addition, shareholders should demand more disclosure of tax-related matters as this will help prevent information asymmetry, improve monitoring, and increase the value effectiveness of tax planning.

  • Wine purchasing decisions in India from a consumer’s perspective: An
analysis of influencing factors on the buying behavior

    • Abstract: This paper analyzed the factors affecting consumers’ purchase intentions and decisions while purchasing wine. The study was performed based on the primary data collected with the help of a survey and a structured questionnaire using convenience sampling. A total of 120 respondents above 21 years old across India who were wine consumers and likely to purchase wine were the study population. Exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive analysis, and cluster analysis were the main methods used to analyze the data. The information gathered was subjected to further quantitative analysis using SPSS. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure (KMO) of sampling adequacy was 0.759, and Cronbach’s alpha was 0.817 indicating high reliability of the study. Factor analysis brought out six essential factors affecting the wine purchase decisions of Indian consumers. They are as follows: quality concerns, consumption preferences, consumption deterrents, consumption reasons, social factors, and risk factors. Furthermore, the study found that the purchase intentions of Indian wine consumers are affected by the attitude and awareness of consumers. The cluster analysis further helped to divide the Indian wine market into three segments, i.e., regular consumers comprising 44.2%, non-consumers comprising 29.2%, and occasional consumers comprising 26.7%. A few of the key factors influencing wine purchase are attributes and knowledge of the wine ingredients. In addition, friends and family play an important role in wine purchasing decisions.

  • Virtual leadership as a development opportunity in business context

    • Abstract: In the twenty-first century and under the framework of the fourth industrial revolution, virtual leadership emerged as a new way to direct and lead companies and organizations in the public and private sectors. In this regard, it should be mentioned that this situation is the result of the profound effects and changes of the digital revolution in the business world, which are a consequence of the globalization process and the rise of the so-called Information Technology and Telecommunications (ICT). Therefore, the objective of this narrative literature review is to know what has been written about virtual leadership between 2016 and 2021. As a result, 58 sources of information were reviewed, their level of scientific evidence was evaluated, and opportunities for growth and development in business and commercial activities were identified. In addition, a business management alternative to mitigate the impacts of the new Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic was analyzed. Hence, this paper is highly relevant, as it also considers elements such as personalized communication and digital tools. In conclusion, it was found that virtual work generates benefits, including time savings and quick contact. However, it presents challenges for leaders, such as the challenge of connectivity, motivation, and collaborators’ commitment.

  • Conceptual framework of implementing knowledge management system in
           business organizations

    • Abstract: Knowledge management is especially relevant for modern organizations because how a business receives, disseminates, and uses knowledge is a determining condition for its ability to successfully develop and compete in a knowledge-based economy. The purpose of the study is to develop conceptual foundations for the implementation of knowledge management system to achieve sustainable competitiveness of the organization. The following methods were used in the research process: analysis, synthesis, theoretical generalization - in the process of research of theoretical and methodological developments of domestic and foreign scientists on the definition of "knowledge management system"; comparative analysis - in the study of differences in scientific approaches to the principles of knowledge management; systems analysis - in the development of conceptual foundations for the implementation of knowledge management system. The study resulted in the development of conceptual foundations for the implementation of knowledge management system, which defies the purpose, strategic and tactical goals, general and specific principles, functions, bodies and tools of management, expected results. One of the most important elements of the conceptual framework for implementing a knowledge management system is the choice of management tools, which should be based on the priority functions of knowledge management based on assessing the current state and available opportunities for further development of the organization. A feature of the developed conceptual framework is the knowledge management tools, the list of which contains traditional and innovative methods of working with knowledge. Modern software and online platforms for knowledge management are offered, the most popular of which are Bit.ai, Document360, Tettra, TallyFox Tallium, ProProfs, Zendesk, Helpjuice.
