  • Corporate Identity Structure in Hotels: An Exploratory Study

      Abstract: Corporate identity is regarded as a critical element of competitiveness in a dynamic business environment. Effective management of corporate identity is vital to demonstrate the strengths of the company to internal and external stakeholders. It is therefore necessary to define and clarify corporate identity and to reveal its dimensions, and more so for hotels operating in a highly competitive international market.The paper aims to find out which dimensions construct the corporate identity in hotel establishments, through a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. Hence, the main aim of this study is to explore and conceptualize the dimensions of a holistic corporate identity structure in hotels via an exploratory method and a multidisciplinary approach based on the conceptual corporate identity dimensions put forward in the light of different disciplines and different paradigms existing in relevant literature. Research sample consists of the managers of 5-star hotels operating in İzmir. The research was designed with a qualitative approach, a field research has been conducted and semi-structured, in depth interviews were used to gather data. Research findings point out 8 dimensions that make up the corporate identity structure in hotels. Considering the themes and codes that were revealed according to the content analysis, the dimensions that constitute the corporate identity in hotels are determined as corporate culture, corporate structure, corporate strategy, corporate design, corporate communication, corporate behaviour, destination identity and industrial identity. Based on the emerging dimensions, the definition of corporate identity has been developed in the conclusion section.

  • The Effect of Servicescape Perception On Customer Satisfaction And Loyalty
           In Hospitality Businesses

      Abstract: In the research, the effect of perceived servicescape on overall satisfaction and customer loyalty in 5-star hospitality businesses is examined. In the study, five different scales are used. Ambient conditions scale, Layout-Decor scale, and Signs scale which constitute servicescape perception measurement tools are developed. In addition, the overall satisfaction scale is developed and the customer loyalty scale is adapted. In the research, the questionnaire technique is used. Data has been collected from Turkish and British customers who stayed at 5-star hospitality businesses between May and October 2021 by stratified random sampling method via face-to-face and online channels. The collected research data has been analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23 program and Smart PLS 3.3 program. In the scope of the research normality, validity, and reliability, EFA, CFA, correlation, and regression analyzes have been performed on the data. According to the research results, the perceived servicescape has positive and significant effects on the overall satisfaction and customer loyalty.

  • CAREER ANXIETY OF TOURISM STUDENTS: AN ANALYSIS WITH PROJECTIVE TECHNIQUES

      Abstract: In this study, it is aimed to reveal the thoughts of associate degree students studying in the field of tourism about career anxieties. For this purpose, projective techniques were preferred and the students' feelings and thoughts about their career anxieties were analyzed in depth. The data collection tool was prepared in accordance with the sentence completion technique and word association techniques. The data were obtained from 65 students studying in the associate degree program of the tourism program. In the analysis of the data, descriptive analysis technique was used. According to the findings, it was understood that factors such as indecision, family effect, individual competence, professional conditions, and the situation of the country were effective on students' career anxieties.

  • Visually Disabled Individuals and Accessible Tourism

      Abstract: In the changing understanding of tourism, people have certain expectations and demands for products and services during their travels. Within these expectations and demands, they want to see the tourism diversification of the factors that make up the touristic product such as a travel plan, accommodation area, food and beverage, entertainment that can meet the touristic needs, to meet the consumer needs. Although it is seen that the number of disabled individuals participating in tourism in Turkey is increasing day by day, it is very important to create services, places and products suitable for their needs, obstacles and expectations and to create appropriate arrangements so that these individuals who have independent mobility restrictions can participate in tourism activities and travel. In this study, suggestions have been made about how to improve services, physical and spatial arrangements, transportation and accommodation so that disabled people, especially the target group of our study, can experience accessible tourism activities.

  • The Role of Brand Image in Gastronomic Destinations: An Analysis on Turkey
           and Malaysia Website

      Abstract: The consumption of local food in many cases enables the recognition of local cultures and increases their awareness in the international arena. The tendency to experience local cultures and authentic flavors is effective in the emergence of gastronomic-themed holidays. The relationship between the forces of globalization, localization, and gastronomy puts particular emphasis on food as the source of regional and national identity and the advantages of economic development. These motivations, lead to the emergence of gastronomy routes, are increasingly popular all over the world. Countries are expected to properly brand themselves in the international arena to create an intention to travel to countries they have never seen before. Effective use of websites is an important phase of this branding process. Thinking about the color, design, appropriateness, and attractiveness of the official websites where tourism products are represented will create an opportunity to create an effective image and increase the number of tourists. In this context, the comparative content analysis is carried out on Turkey and Malaysia's websites. This research, which was conducted to determine the brand image of gastronomy on websites and to determine the representation of brand awareness, discusses the marketing strategies for gastronomy tourism in two countries with similar tourism potential.
