Authors:Ozan ATSIZ Abstract: This study aims to explore residents’ support for tourism in an underdeveloped tourism destination. In this regard, a structural model to test the relationships among variables such as residents’ perceived effects toward tourism, overall quality of life, community attachment and support for tourism has been put forward. The research data were collected from 457 residents in Yozgat (Turkey) through a questionnaire. According to research findings from partial least squares structural equation modelling, positive perceptions of tourism effects positively influence support for tourism while negative ones negatively influence this support. The study also reveals that positive perceptions of tourism effects influence residents’ overall quality of life. Moreover, residents’ perceived expectations of overall quality of life have effects on the support for tourism. Finally, community attachment affects positive perceptions of tourism effects and support for tourism. PubDate: Wed, 01 Dec 2021 00:00:00 +030
Authors:Beykan ÇİZEL; İsmail Gökay KIRTIL, Rabia ÇİZEL, Volkan AŞKUN Abstract: In processes such as crisis and disaster periods, when systems move away from their usual dynamics and display chaotic patterns, differences in tourists' travel intentions may occur. The aim of this study is to examine the intention of domestic tourists to avoid travel in a time of high risk and uncertainty such as Covid-19 in a model with complexity theory. The study group of the research included 349 domestic tourists reached through an online survey. Accordingly, a total of five variables were included in the measurement model, excluding demographic questions, and each variable was measured with three questions. Asymmetric relationships between research variables were examined under seven configurations through fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). It is discussed what kind of effects these configurations have on the outcome variable in the context of different age, gender, education level, marital status and different condition variables. Accordingly, it has been determined that hygiene and economic concerns during the pandemic process affect the intention of tourists to avoid travel. PubDate: Wed, 01 Dec 2021 00:00:00 +030
Authors:Özgür DAVRAS; Ayşegül DEMİRCİOĞLU Abstract: Brand equity and word of mouth marketing are seen as the most important marketing tools that affect touristbehavior in the destination marketing. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the effects of consumerbased destination brand equity (CBDBE) perceived by tourists on word of mouth marketing (WOM). Inaccordance with this purpose, a theoretical model that covering the interactions between CBDBE dimensions(destination awareness, destination image, perceived quality, destination satisfaction, and destination loyalty)and WOM dimensions (negative and positive WOM) is proposed. The model was tested with the analysis ofdata obtained from 201 tourists who came to Fethiye destination for vacation. After ensuring the validity andreliability of the measurement models in the research model, the hypotheses were analyzed using the AMOS22.0 package program. The path analysis results confirmed the proposed model and revealed that perceiveddestination quality and destination loyalty had a strong effect on positive WOM. On the other hand, it wasdetermined that negative AAP was negatively affected by the perceived destination quality. PubDate: Wed, 01 Dec 2021 00:00:00 +030
Authors:Serhat Adem SOP; Metin KOZAK Abstract: This study aims to determine the importance attributed to the knowledge of research methods and discuss its effects in the context of tourism studies. With its 16 questions, an online form was sent out via e-mail and social media. The study applied the convenience sampling technique. The data obtained from 39 participants were analyzed by using the principles of grounded theory. Findings suggest the need of a change for tourism research in the common methodological paradigm, paying more attention to the problem-method compatibility instead of focusing on quantitative or qualitative methods individually. The methodological knowledge is important to become a qualified researcher. The study interprets the direct and indirect effects of research methods within the framework of two approaches: traditional and universal. The study recommends the universal approach as a vision because it fills an important gap by comprehensively answering the question as to why the knowledge of research methods would be necessary.
