    • Authors: Muhammad Atma Aditya, Fredinan Yulianda, Sulistiono Sulistiono
      Pages: 153 - 161
Abstract: River waters in Bungo Regency are the habitat of mahseer (Tor spp.), which has a potential for ecotourism development. This study aimed to examine the potential of mahseer resources as the main commodity in river ecotourism development. The study was conducted at the Lubuk Alay water reservation area in October 2019. Observations were made for water quality (temperature, depth, transparency, TSS, pH, DO, nitrate, and total phosphate) and general tourism conditions in the region. The analysis was carried out on the river tourism suitability index (TSI), carrying capacity, and management strategies. Based on the observations, the water quality was generally in good condition and suitable for ecotourism requirements. Types of suitable activities for river ecotourism consisted of relaxing sitting-in (TSI 2.08 – 2.45, suitable) with a carrying capacity of 149 persons/day and playing water (TSI 2.35 – 2.45, suitable) with a carrying capacity of 2194 person/day. The management strategies for developing river ecotourism covered the classification of zones in the Lubuk Beringin, ecotourism development in accordance with the existing potential, coordination between the government and public for ecotourism development, and development of ecotourism through improving facilities and infrastructure. Keywords: Carrying capacity, conservation, river ecotourism.

  • Sentiment Analysis of Ten Tourism Destinations in Indonesia

    • Authors: Christian Lilik Henri Setiawan Nivak
      Pages: 162 - 168
Abstract: Sentiment analysis is frequently used to examine textual data to determine the sentiment contained in a sentence. This method can be used to determine the polarity of emotions associated with specific themes, events, products, and certain phenomena in the world. This study utilized Twitter data to analyze textual data in Bahasa Indonesia gathered via Twitter using R. This study will focus on ten tourism destinations. These destinations were targeted for development by the Indonesian government in 2016 through the Ministry of Tourism. The purpose of this study was to determine the sentiment polarity of Indonesian Twitter users towards ten tourism destinations. The sentiment polarity score was calculated using an Indonesian sentiment lexicon. The results of this study indicate that the Indonesian government’s designation of a tourism destination as a development priority destination appears to have no effect on the tourism destination’s sentiment polarity, particularly among Twitter users. The popularity status of a tourist destination does not translate to a high score on positive sentiment. Due to the limitation of the sentiment lexicon in Bahasa Indonesia, it can be inferred from this study that getting an accurate sentiment score for each tweet is still not achievable. However, the sentiment lexicon in Bahasa Indonesia should be updated to increase the accuracy of the sentiment score calculation. Keywords: Indonesian sentiment analysis, Indonesian sentiment lexicon, Tourism destinations.

           the Mentawai Islands

    • Authors: Rifan Andika, Muhammad Baiquni
      First page: 169
Abstract: As a tourist destination, the Mentawai Islands have many potential tourism destinations such as marine tourism especially surfing spots. Many surfers come to the Mentawai Islands from all around the world. Most of the tourists are young adults with an average income of USD 20.000-40.000 annually. Most are intermediate to pro-level surfers. The biggest reason why so many surfers come to visit the Mentawai Islands is for the exceptional surfing experience, which comes from the quality of its natural environment as one of the top preferences. Based on location, there are two types of accommodation, city accommodation and resort accommodation. On the other hand, surfers' preference in choosing accommodation type needs to be discovered. There will be preferences, at least surfers have three, which are Price, Facility, and Location. Price compatibility with quality, availability of surfing transport, proximity to surf breaks becomes the main preferences in choosing accommodation. Keywords: Accommodation, Mentawai Islands, surf.

  • Evaluation of the Maximum Number Determination Tourists on New Normal
           Tourism

    • Authors: Hanun Nurrahma, Luchman Hakim, Rita Parmawati
      Pages: 180 - 186
Abstract: Before Covid-19 happened, the tourism industry had been faced overtourism problems as the effect of mass tourism growth. Tourism environment quality reduction and the social problem happened to the local people become a problem behind all glitters of tourism growth. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, the overtourism problem changes into nontourism. The spread of Covid-19 in tourism can change the tourism development’s paradigm from the visit quantity to the visit quality. Policy about the limitation on the number of visitors applied as the requirement for reopening the tourism sector. This policy is related to the tourism carrying capacity about the maximum amount contained in one tourism area without causing any damages to the environment. This visitor’s limitation indirectly solved two problems at once, concerns about the spread of Covid-19 and overtourism repeats. The research was done in Pulau Merah Beach as the destination with the highest visitors in Banyuwangi regency, which has 574 visitors each day and did the tourism opening simulation in a new normal era with visitors’ limitation. The tourism manager has determined that 750 people are the maximum number of visitors per day. This research aimed to evaluate the consistency of the number of maximum visitors with Covid-19 policy about visitors limitation using the tourism carrying capacity concept Mix methods were used in this study to deepen data and analysis. Thus, complete and clearer research was gained. Based on the analysis, the physical carrying capacity value of 1.074 people per day, the real carrying capacity value, and effectiveness of 468 people per day. It means the limitation of visitors in new normal tourism in Red Island is safe and by the Covid-19 protocol because it decreased about 30% from the tourism physical carrying capacity. However, if it was evaluated from the real carrying capacity value and effectiveness, those amounts are still exceeding the capacity of the tourism carrying capacity. Keywords: New Normal, Tourism Carrying Capacity, Visitors Limitation.

  • Analysis of Community Based Tourism (CBT) Standards as the Basis for
Development in Ketenger Tourism Village, Banyumas Regency

    • Authors: Arief Bakhtiar Darmawan, Soni Martin Anwar
      Pages: 187 - 203
Abstract: This study aims to identify community participation in developing a tourist village and implement tourism development in Ketenger Village through community-based tourism (CBT). Ketenger Village is a tourist village having various destinations and tourist areas so that the potential for village development can still be developed. The data in this study were collected through field observations, interviews, and focus group discussions with related parties. Data were analyzed using qualitative methods. The study results indicated that the participation or involvement of the Ketenger Village community in several CBT standards had been partly met, while others need to be improved. Despite having Pokdarwis (Tourism-aware Group), the village government was still the main motor of tourism. Therefore, some of the main development opportunities for Ketenger Village that can be done are improving the quality of community management (in planning, implementation, and evaluation), improving the quality of human resources, encouraging host and tourist interaction, and maximizing marketing through social media (not only depending on newspaper journalists). Keywords: community-based tourism, community participation, Ketenger Village, tourism.

  • Hedonic Happiness of Foreign Tourists in Bali

    • Authors: Nyoman Ariana, Made Antara, Made Budiarsa, Nyoman Sudiarta
      Pages: 204 - 211
Abstract: There are many reasons why tourists travel or visit certain places, and chief among them is to seek happiness. For example, they feel happy when they get the hedonic experience. Unfortunately, the effect of hedonic values and tourism experiences on tourists’ happiness has thus far remained unclear. This study was aimed to analyze the effect of hedonic value on the tourist experience, prove the effect of hedonic value on tourists’ hedonic happiness, and examine the effect of tourist experience on tourists’ hedonic happiness. This research took place in Bali, and the research subjects were foreign tourists who visited Bali. The total number of respondents was 171. All structured interviews and questionnaires were performed and distributed online. Data analysis was conducted using SEM (Structural Equation Model). The research findings show the positive and significant effect of hedonic values on tourist experience. There is a positive and significant effect of tourist experience on tourist hedonic happiness. It was found that there was no direct effect of hedonic value on tourist hedonic happiness. Out of the demonstrated intervariable correlations, we managed to create the Model of Hedonic Tourist Happiness (MHTH). This study concludes that the MHTH consists of hedonic value, tourist experiences, and tourist hedonic happiness variables. This MHTH can be applied to improve tourism services in Bali, and particularly to boost the tourist experience and tourist happiness. Keywords: Bali, Hedonic Happiness, Tourists Experiences.
