    • Authors: Gowhar Ahmad WANI, V. NAGARAJ, Shabir Hussain MALIK
Abstract:     This paper studied the performance and issues in functioning of Tourism Services in Kashmir Valley. The key goal is to identify the significant weaknesses and challenges and enable tourism authorities to act accordingly. For analysis, the perceptions of tourism stakeholders, namely tourists, residents, and service providers, were considered. An equal number of respondents are surveyed from five popular tourism destinations of Kashmir Valley based on numerous tourism services' issues and problems. Identifying the accessibility and availability of tourism services and concerns requires a scientific approach. In this regard, it has been tried to analyze the provision of tourism services, weak areas of performance, and causes and consequences of inadequacy. It is confirmed that most of the services provided are not sufficient to a more considerable extent, concerning their inadequate accessibility, poor functioning and minimum strength to satisfy respondents.  Therefore, further improvements are obligatory, taking into account deficiency, regional characteristics, and problems related to elements of tourism services.

  • A Study of Factors Determining Infrastructure Performance at Tourism
           Destinations of Kashmir Valley

    • Authors: GOWHAR AHMAD WANI, V. Nagaraj
Abstract: This paper studied the factors determining the performance of tourism infrastructure at tourism destinations in Kashmir Valley. Poor infrastructure performance is a stern obstacle to the development of the tourism sector. It requires a scientific move to wipe out hindrances. The factors determining the infrastructure performance may differ among the destinations. Accordingly, destination specific analysis is suitable for analyzing the significant factors. Data had collected from five popular tourism destinations through the pre-tested interview schedule, and perceptions were converted into the weights to test the hypothesis. A Multiple Linear Regression Model is adopted to study the significant factors and to verify the results. It is inferred that the factors of soft infrastructure have a strong influence on each destination, followed by sports infrastructure and security establishments, environment infrastructure, public utilities, and typical tourism infrastructure, respectively. The coefficient of determination is noticeably higher in the case of Yusmarg, followed by Srinagar, Pahalgam, Kokernag and Gulmarg.

  • SURVIVAL STRATEGIES OF TOURISM INDUSTRY IN TIMES OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A
STUDY OF SELECTED TOURIST ENTERPRISES IN KERALA

    • Authors: Pradeep B Kumar
Abstract: Struggling to come out of the shackles created by the apparent down in business owing to the decline in booking and travel trips, tourism enterprises have been forced to implement newer survival strategies to exist in the field. This paper sheds some light on the novel and innovative survival strategies adopted by selected tourism operators and hotels in certain selected tourist spots in Kerala. The study considers four types of survival strategies for analysis viz. Retrenchment, Persevering, Innovation and Exit. The study has found that the type of strategies adopted by the enterprises varies in accordance with their nature of business. Most of the enterprises preferred to adopt a persevering survival strategy that is they tended to continue their operations without applying any significant decline in their scale of operation. The study has found significant associations between the number of years spent in the field of operation and the type of strategies adopted for survival. It has been found that younger enterprises tended to adopt an ‘exit’ survival strategy while experienced and older enterprises stood for persevering strategy.

  • SUSTAINABLE COASTAL TOURISM IN GOA: DESTINATION PROBLEMS AND MANAGEMENT
           OPTIONS.

    • Authors: Geetanjali Chetan Achrekar
Abstract: Coastal  tourism is the mainstay of Goa’s economy. The economic importance of Goa’s coastal tourism is unquestionable. But the main challenge of Goa’s coastal tourism is the conflict between the economic benefits tourism generates and its negative impact on the coastal environment. The present article analyses the economic, environment and socio -cultural impact of tourism on coastal sustainability of North Goa’s famous beaches on stakeholders. The study suggests steps to reduce the negative impact of tourism activities and develop sustainable coastal tourism thereby addressing the research gap on coastal tourism sustainability.Using a convenience sample of 150 coastal stakeholders and applying a 5-point Likert scale, mean and standard deviation, standard error, the paper  finds that  locals who gained economic benefits perceive coastal tourism to be sustainable and those who haven’t, perceive it to be unsustainable. But all the  local stakeholders agreed that tourism has adversely affected the coastal environment as well as the socio-cultural sustainability. And, in the aftermath of the COVID 19 pandemic, the economic sustainability is also under threat. For sustainable coastal tourism, environmental laws need to be stringently implemented and all stakeholders  need to be proactive and sensitive towards their coastal areas.

  • THE POTENTIAL OF ROMANIAN DESTINATIONS TO MEET THE NEW LUXURY TRAVEL
TRENDS. THE CASE OF MARAMURES COUNTY

    • Authors: Ticau Ruxandra Iulia
Abstract: As consumer tastes are constantly transforming, the tourism sector has adapted and had started to approach travellers differently. It is no surprise that the ongoing pandemic impacted individuals’ attitudes and implicitly travelling tastes, which are now oriented towards more authentic and life-changing experiences. If ten years ago, a luxury vacation was described as a one-week long stay at a 5-star hotel, now it is shifting towards what we call ‘a new luxury travel’. Travel agencies worldwide witnessed this trend and described it through five criteria: untouristed and unexpected destinations, country coupling preferences, tasty travels, group getaways, emotional intelligence encounters and enjoying the journey. By following these criteria, our research aims at describing the potential of Maramures county, located in Romania, of meeting this trend. We follow a qualitative type of research that is capable of creating a framework of area’s capacity for becoming a top-rated travel destination. Findings of the paper show positive highlights of Maramures for meeting these trends, through the landscapes, culture and customs it unveils. Results have implications for future scholars in multiple fields, including touristic hosts, travel agencies, tourists but also researchers in the field.

  • The role of social media platforms in choosing and promoting cross-border
tourism destinations. Case study South Dobrogea tourist destination - the
           Cadrilater (Romania-Bulgaria)

    • Authors: Manuela Barbarie, Gheorghe Lixandrescu, Adriana Bianca Ovreiu, Anca Albu
Abstract: Since the 2000s, social media platforms have begun to actively develop and increase the coefficient of marketing activities in the tourism sector. Over time, these platforms have played a key role in stimulating the user's confidence in choosing a tourist destination. This indicates that the early 2000s managed to shape a certain dependence on these platforms regarding the choice of destination both for existing tourists, and for potential ones. This article aims to conduct a research study on the influence of the most popular social platforms in choosing cross-border tourist destinations, with a focus on the destination of South Dobrogea - The Cadrilater. To achieve this, the research adopted a hybrid approach. Initially, an analysis of the specialty literature was performed, followed by the application of a questionnaire on a sample of 200 respondents.

  • FROM A MUSEUM MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE, IT IS WORTH CONSIDERING THE NUMBER
OF DAYS THAT AZ EXHIBITION LASTS'

    • Authors: Tunde Szabo
Abstract: Analysis on trends and factors that are influencing visitor attendances in museums is not a straightforward task to do. The importance of these examinations stems from the fact that museums, as part of cultural tourism, have a significant social and economic impact on the regions that they represent. Guided by this idea, the aim of this paper is to identify the main elements that may affect the success of museums in general and to highlight and examine specifically one element that is likely to have an impact on the development of visitor numbers. The paper will analyze issues such as: features that can be taken into account when organizing exhibitions, museum popularity and popular exhibitions and the possible examination on whether the number of days that an exhibition lasts has an influence on the total number of attendances.

  • COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT EVOLUTION IN FRANCE AND
           ROMANIA

    • Authors: Bianca Anișoara Băieș
Abstract: AbstractEurope, which occupied a significant part in the international tourism market, suffered a decreasing demand as a tourism destination, during and after the COVID crises. This decrease could be an opportunity to rethink the traditional models of tourism, to make them look better, to innovate and adapt them to the present trends of practicing tourism. Rethinking opportunity of these models is coming by the necessity of the fact that the tourism industry, by its nature, is focused on the economic growth, on the resources exploitation and on making profit as big as it can, in a short period of time. The actual economic and industrial trends, at the international level should give importance to the culture and social environment, to keep the biodiversity and to process resources in a rational and durable way. So, the new models of making tourism should change the tourist behavior, the operators’’ industry behavior and the industry behavior as well, to become successful models of practicing tourism, in order to revive the world tourism, as the traditional models did in the similar crises.

  • THE ATTITUDES OF THE YOUNG ALBANIANS AND ROMANIANS ON SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

    • Authors: Brian Balliu, Alexandra Zbuchea
Abstract: Sustainability has become widely accepted in tourism as a means of mitigating the negative effects of mass tourism. However, constructing a credible scale in cross-cultural settings is crucial for assessing the outcomes of sustainable tourism. The Sustainable Tourism Attitude Scale (SUS-TAS) in an Albanian and Romanian context is examined in this study, and the local population in both countries is used to collect data. The sample consists of younger people belonging to two age groups: 18-29 years old and 30-39 years old. These segments correspond broadly to Gen. Z and Millennials in the two countries. The sustainable tourism attitude scale (SUS-TAS) is designed to assess the attitudes of local populations toward sustainable tourism development. The study uses a seven-dimensional SUS-TAS model with 37 questions. The findings indicate that the SUS-TAS can be used to ascertain resident attitudes toward sustainable tourism in Albania and Romania. Results show that attitudes are quite similar in most aspects between the two countries.
