  Aimed at the piles deformation produced by the weight of pile-driver, both bearing capacity and line-type of joint-method-pile are studied by combining finite element with experiment data. We can acquire by simulated analysis: the line-type of pile is closely related to corresponding soils properties, and the bigger deformation of pile is located at soft soil layers; the more closer of the distance between pile and pile-driver, the smaller of pile bearing capacity; related to vertical pile, the maximally reducing ratio of bearing capacity of deformed pile is 32.4 percent. In the paper, a 4.2m lower limit of horizontal distance between pile and pile driver is suggested in order to increase the pile bearing capacity.

  In order to research the technical feasibility and influence factors of impulse ventilation systems in an underground garage, full-scale fire tests have been designed and conducted. Four testing conditions have been designed by changing jet fan combination form and opening time. The temperature and smoke layer at different distances from the fire source have been recorded. Results show that jet fan would drive smoke to the downstream exhaust port more quickly and visibility of fire source upstream would be increased. There is a significant change on smoke exhaust of jet fan combination. Series arrangement of jet fan would keep smoke layer temperature stable and smoke could be exhausted effectively. However, series-parallel combination of jet fans could cause a high fluctuation in smoke layer temperature. It would do harm to exhaust smoke quickly in garage.

  The investigations on a total of 177 rural residents in 12 villages have been made. These villages belong to 6 provinces and 1 autonomous district. The survey scopes include electrical lines, distribution systems, household appliance and electrical safety dialog with rural residents and other aspects. The key points are conditions of electrical lines and apparatus. A large amount of detail data of field status about electrical fire in rural areas has been collected. The analyses on the main cause of rural electrical fire have been made and fire prevention measures have been studied.

  Based on current situation of the rural fire protection, the village is taken as a unit and fire protection investment and its benefiton the basis of principle of economy has been briefly analyzed. The survey proposes that investment region on village fireprotection should be focused on fire protection planning, water reserves, firehouse construction and fire protection publicityand education etc. In a period of ten years, allocation of RMB 75 thousands Yuan a year continuously could approximatelyproduce threefold fire protection economic benefit. In addition, the investment on fire protection of rural area could be decidedin accordance with benefit analysis on fixed cost.

  In this experimental investigation iron slag rendered as scrap was used as coarse aggregate in place of crushed stone in the preparation of concrete. Concrete containing iron slag in various percentages of 25, 50, 75 and 100 was prepared and tested for its compressive and split tensile strength. Such replacement of coarse aggregate can solve to some extent the depletion of natural resources and save the environment from degradation. It was observed that at 75 per cent replacement level the compressive strength after 28 days of curing attained a value of 50.33 N/mm2. This was found to be 2.2 per cent greater than that of normal concrete. The split tensile strength for the corresponding replacement level was found to be 2.26 N/mm2 that was 14.14 per cent higher than the normal concrete. Further, in order to have a basic understanding of the fire resistance of the concrete containing 100 per cent replacement of iron scrap it was subjected to elevated temperature of 800°C for 120 minutes continuously. From this fire resistance test it was observed that no damage was caused to the concrete containing iron scrap. However, there was a marginal reduction of 7.9 per cent in weight and 15.17 per cent reduction in compressive strength compared to that of concrete before heating. The conclusion derived, therefore, is that iron slag scrap can be used as coarse aggregate in the preparation of concrete in place of natural aggregate. This will no doubt help to stop degradation of the environment.
