  • Analysis of Strength Parameters at Tension of Epoxy-Glass Composites with
           Rubber Recyclate Addition

    • Abstract: The aim of the research was to analyze the strength parameters of epoxy-glass sandwich composites with the addition of rubber recyclate. Material samples were subjected to a static tensile test performed on a universal testing machine in accordance with the current standard for fiber-reinforced composite materials. The test results showed that the addition of rubber recyclate increases the plastic parameters of the composite, which allows considering the use of the tested material for structures loaded with the vibration and noise scale. The use of rubber recyclate to modify the strength parameters of the composite allows to reduce the amount of rubber waste and ensures the durability of the new material.

  • Random Forest in the Tests of Small Caliber Ammunition

    • Abstract: In the introduction of this article the method of building a random forest model is presented, which can be used for both classification and regression tasks. The process of designing the random forest module was characterized, paying attention to the classification tasks module, which was used to build the author’s model. Based on the test results, a random forest model was designed for 7,62 mm ammunition with T-45 tracer projectile. Predictors were specified and values of stop parameters and process stop formulas were determined, on the basis of which a random forest module was built. An analysis of the resulting random forest model was made in terms of assessing its prediction and risk assessment. Finally, the designed random forest model has been refined by adding another 50 trees to the model. The enlarged random forest model occurred to be slightly stronger and it should be implemented.

  • The selected aspects of determining the technical readiness of cars in a
           transport system scheduled to be operated

    • Abstract: This paper is focused on determining the technical readiness of cars in a transport system scheduled to be operated. In this way, cars are used in natural or military disaster recovery systems. Determining the technical readiness according to the average number of defects without taking account of the intensity of using them and mileage at the beginning of operation prevents from making a detailed assessment of the technical readiness of particular cars up to date. This manuscript attempts to prove a thesis that determining the operational readiness of cars, especially those scheduled to be operated, including functional and task readiness, requires monitoring of damages in time separate for every car.

  • Simulation of a Motor Vehicle Braking on a Randomly Uneven Road

    • Abstract: In this paper a simulation of a vehicle’s braking maneuver in various adopted road conditions has been presented. The aim of this paper was to answer the question whether the random irregularities of a road surface could limit the distance covered by the braking vehicle. At the same time it seems necessary to consider the damaging effect of the road irregularities along with the lack of comfort for both the driver and the passengers. The adopted maneuver of braking started at the initial speed of 100 km/h each time and lasted 10 s. The irregularities adopted for the simulation had three different amplitudes which enabled analysis of vehicle’s deceleration on variously uneven road. Almost different profiles were assumed for the left and the right wheels of the vehicle’s model as well as both the dry and the icy surface on the road.

  • Influence of the Crane Load and Measurement Speed on the Properties of the
           Magnetic Field of the Girders

    • Abstract: The girders of the crane or the jib of the crane are situated at high heights, which prevents the free and continuous measurement of their stresses. Unfortunately, these elements are most exposed to high stress and damage during their use. The article presents the research methodology with the use of the magnetic metal memory method of the overhead crane girders. Diagnostic tests utilizing the crane movement mechanisms to move the magnetometric sensor along the tested surface of the girder were proposed to improve and automate measurements. The article attempts to investigate effect of the device load and speed of Hp measurements with a magnetometric sensor.

  • Selected defects of one-way clutches based on Mi-24 helicopter –
           reasons, effects and diagnosing

    • Abstract: This manuscript describes the proprietary method of diagnosing one-way clutches of Mi-24 at their earlier wearing stage, which is challenging to diagnose with traditional methods (vibroacoustic). The FAM-C method is based on the analysis of frequency modulation of the on-board generator driven from the examined power unit. It enables to observe the influence of other mechanical elements on the operation of this clutch: it monitors all rotary subassemblies of aircraft connected with mechanical power transmission. The manuscript aims to review the typical defects of one-way clutches in helicopter propulsion systems, describe the FAM-C method as a basic method at the early diagnosing stage and confirm its efficiency based on the provided results.

  • Preventive Renewal Model with Diverse Maintenance Activities

    • Abstract: The paper presents a developed computational model based on decision- random models, which allows us to develop a strategy for preventive renewal of complex technical objects whose maintenance activities cover various actions. Depending on the renewal type, diversification of the cost and maintenance time may influence the interval at which preventive renewal should be performed. The developed algorithm takes into account the predicted time of proper operation based on the probability distribution of operating time to failure, as well as the cost of each preventive action and potential failure. The defined strategy is a set of activities that must be performed every specified time interval in a manner that is economically justified and minimizes the risk of failure. The technical object on which the model is discussed is the wheel tyre of a rail vehicle.

  • An Attempt to Characterise the Reliability of an Action Considering the
           Type of Its Result

    • Abstract: The paper presents the results of research related to one of the problems identified in the previous work, which included the analysis of selected elements of the concept of reliability of action description in the systems of action engineering developed by Józef Konieczny. The aim of this study is to analyse the possibility of using the praxiological classification of results in a partially formalised description of the reliability of action. In the first stage of considerations, observations were made regarding the description of the reliability of actions presented as isolated simple chains of action. In the second stage, the observations related to the description of the reliability of actions under the conditions of direct supporting were made.

  • Influence of Hydraulic Oil Viscosity on the Energy Efficiency of
           Hydrostatic Drive

    • Abstract: The article presents the influence of oil viscosity on the overall efficiency of the compared systems with proportional cylinder control. There are energy losses in the elements of the hydraulic system, which are, among other things, a function of the viscosity of the working fluid used, as well as energy losses which are practically independent of the viscosity. In order to assess the possibilities of saving energy during the operation of the hydrostatic drive system, it is necessary to understand and describe the losses occurring in the system. Determining the energy efficiency of the system can be performed simulation with the help of a computer program using an appropriate mathematical model. The efficiency determined in this way can be used in the process of designing and operating the system.

  • Low Cost Avionics System for Ultralight Aircraft

    • Abstract: The article presents a low cost avionics system for ultralight aircraft and paraplanes. The system contains Attitude and Heading Reference System, Air Data Computer and Primary Flight Display. Communication between units is via Wi-Fi. In the article design description was presented, as well as laboratory tests results. They are promising and the system is ready for in flight testing.

  • Analysis of the possibility of using a geogrid to improve load bearing
           capacity of natural airfield pavements

    • Abstract: The article presents an innovative method that was verified in the field. It is aimed to improve the load bearing capacity of airfield pavements, which are one of the elements of the flight safety system. Airfield pavements protect the runway in case when the aircraft is taxiing beyond the runway. Moreover, they are also used to perform starting and landing operations of military aircraft. Due to this, they need to have an adequate load bearing capacity that ensures the safety of performing aircraft flights. Airports cannot afford to be shut down for a long time; thus, it is essential to look for efficient and fast solutions that could improve the load bearing capacity of airfield pavements. The authors suggested to apply geogrid immersed in natural airfield pavement.

  • Legal Aspects Regarding Liability for Shooting Down an Aircraft

    • Abstract: The author will raise the issue of responsibility for shooting down a civil aircraft. The powers of the state, as well as the responsibilities and obligations that are imposed on the state in this matter will be presented. The paper will also define the notion of sovereignty. Then, international documents which govern the responsibility of the state will be discussed. The author will also indicate the origin of the introduction of regulations on the shooting down of aircraft. The author will also provide examples of such incidents involving civil aircraft. In addition, the paper will include the position of the Constitutional Tribunal regarding the matter of shooting down an aircraft. The work will conclude with considerations regarding the legitimacy and reasons for shooting down aircraft. Can we sacrifice one “good” in the name of another'

  • The Operational Technique of Increasing Service Life Time of the Major
           Components of the Fighter Aircraft Engine Rotors

    • Abstract: The operational technique for the major components of the fighter aircraft engine rotors has been introduced basing on the real conditions of their cyclic loading in each flight or ground test and a priori information on their previous operation. It has been confirmed that the obtained technical solutions not only conform to the current methods of accounting for the depletion of the life cycle of the Afterburning Turbofan Engine (ATE) but also introduce additional opportunities to consider individual characteristics and conditions of their cyclic loading throughout the overall operating time. A method for estimating the depletion of the life cycle in accordance with the Total Accumulated Cycle (TAC) has been proposed. It allows us to compare the actual operating time of the ATE in hours and the accumulated value of cyclic damage to the engine and its major components (within the TAC parameter) during the previous operation.

  • Genetic Programming Based Identification of an Overhead Crane

    • Abstract: Overhead cranes carry out an important function in the transportation of loads in industry. The ability to transport a payload quickly and accurately without excessive oscillations could reduce the chance of accidents as well as increase productivity. Accurate modelling of the crane system dynamics reduces the plant-model mismatch which could improve the performance of model-based controllers. In this work the simulation model to be identified is developed using the Euler-Lagrange method with friction. A 5-step ahead predictor, as well as a 10-step ahead predictor, are obtained using multi-gene genetic programming (MGGP) using input-output data. The weights of the genes are obtained by using least squares. The results of 15 different genetic programming runs are plotted on a complexity-mean square error graph with the Pareto optimal solutions shown.

  • Preliminary Risk Analysis of Low Pressure Railway Transport

    • Abstract: The subject of this study is a preliminary risk analysis during travel by the low pressure railway Hyperloop. The main objective was to formulate recommendations related to the development of the project of the new transport mode. The main analysis was preceded by the identification of Man – Machine - Environment system. Undesirable events were identified for each of the specified steps of a ride. For each event, a risk assessment was performed using Risk Score based method. The causes, effects and preventive actions were also listed. Events with the highest risk score were indicated. The need to develop procedures for safety checks and emergency situations was pointed out. It was shown that the safety analysis of the transport system should be extended after a final project development of the railway system and the necessary infrastructure.

  • The System Dynamic and Compram Methodologies for Modelling, Simulation and
           Forecasting of Road Safety of Uzbekistan

    • Abstract: In Uzbekistan, about 2,000 people die every year as a result of a traffic accident. At the same time, according to the Pulitzer Centre on Crisis Reporting, the Republic has the lowest rate in road mortality among the countries in the Central Asian region - for every 100,000 people, it is 11.32 people. Losses from road accidents in Uzbekistan equivalent up to 2.8% of GDP that is also one of the lowest indicators. But according to traffic safety experts, the losses from accidents are greater than reported data. Nowadays there are a lot of methods to analyse and ensure road safety and traffic management on the roads. The authors believe that road safety is a complex societal problem not only in Uzbekistan but all over the world. One of these methods is System Dynamic (SD) and COMplex PRoblem hAndling Methodology (COMPRAM). In this work, the Vensim PLE SD software tool (it is one SD tool amongst many others) has been used to perform the SD modelling of the case study at hand. In the methods of system dynamics, a computer model is created using a graphical technique for constructing flow diagrams and causal relationships of the system under study and then simulated on a computer. COMPRAM allows us to figure out the way to handle complex societal problems while involving a System Dynamics (SD) simulation option. There are similarities between COMPRAM and the traditional way of analysing road safety. In traditional ways, each element or factor is studied as a separate phenomenon. These indicators are studied in the stages of COMPRAM. This article has been studied a different aspect of how road accidents happen. The developed a comparison (according to six criteria) of the different modelling paradigms which have been historically used to assess road safety. Also, the authors made a comparison of the COMPRAM methodology with the traditional road safety assessment approach to highlight similarities and differences.

  • The Risk Related to the Influence of Sleep Deprivation on the Reliability
           of Human on the Example of Pilot

    • Abstract: The purpose of this publication is to discuss the issues related to the operator sleep deficiency, its effects and the resulting risk. The issue is discussed on the example of a pilot, as a position in which the probability of occurrence of the phenomenon is high, with consequences of its occurrence that can be very severe. Despite the fact, the authors try to present the issues in a universal way enabling reference to a wide spectrum of different types of operators. In the article, concepts such as risk and fatigue are characterized. Furthermore, short and long-term fatigue are discussed, as well as the impact of shift work on human health and reliability. The second part presents methods of fatigue monitoring useful in aviation. The summary emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to the issue of crew fatigue in the management and the need for actions before commencing with work.

  • Liability of an Air Carrier for Personal Damage

    • Abstract: The aim of the study is to present the principles of civil liability for damage caused to a passenger for which an air carrier is responsible, regulated by the Warsaw and Montreal Conventions, and the norms of national law providing issues that are not included in international law acts. The paper presents a historical overview of the applicable Conventions. The provisions of the Polish Civil Code that are useful for interpretation of law institutions and complement the legal norms contained in the Conventions are also presented. The compiled issues put the legal norms contained in various law systems in order by indicating the practical dimension of the pursuit of potential claims by passengers vis-à-vis air carriers. This is followed by a discussion of the grounds for excluding third party liability of an air carrier in case of excessive or illegitimate claims of the carrier’s clients, and of the insurer.

  • Integration of Image-Based Fog Detection with Autonomous Decision System
           for Intelligent Road Sign

    • Abstract: The paper presents the description of the decision system implemented for Intelligent Road Signs. It focuses on the implementation of the novel air transparency analysis system and its integration with the rule system and the speed control infrastructure. Moreover, there are presented issues of making decisions about the content displayed in the case of autonomous and cooperating signs. To reflect more closely on real-life situations, it is assumed that the content presented by the IRS changes dynamically, depending on the road traffic and weather parameters. The IRS system operation was presented using fog detection as an example.
