  Abstract: In this paper the consequences of road closures considering the introduction of a smart city solution, namely traffic simulation on micro level, are analyzed. The use-case comes from the city of Maribor in Slovenia with about 100 thousand inhabitants. To perform the analyses, the open source road traffic simulation package SUMO (simulation of urban mobility) has been employed to analyze the effects of the introduction of traffic regulations in real environment. Using it by experts in a plan-do-check-act loop, multiple scenarios with lesser impact of traffic regulations, as opposed to ad-hoc scenarios usually employed (e.g., for road works, events, etc.), can be considered and the best one chosen, leading to a smart city solution.

  Abstract: Association rule mining is a common technique used in discovering interesting frequent patterns in data acquired in various application domains. The search space combinatorically explodes as the size of the data increases. Furthermore, the introduction of new data can invalidate old frequent patterns and introduce new ones. Hence, while finding the association rules efficiently is an important problem, maintaining and updating them is also crucial. Several algorithms have been introduced to find the association rules efficiently. One of them is Apriori. There are also algorithms written to update or maintain the existing association rules. Update with early pruning (UWEP) is one such algorithm. In this paper, the authors propose that in certain conditions it is preferable to use an incremental algorithm as opposed to the classic Apriori algorithm. They also propose new implementation techniques and improvements to the original UWEP paper in an algorithm we call UWEP2. These include the use of memorization and lazy evaluation to reduce scans of the dataset.

  Abstract: Continuous improvement refers to day-to-day activities in an organization to improve its ability to meet customer needs. However, the organization must also consider the environment and create ways to sustain it. When continuous improvement models are enacted, companies with efficient environmental performance and high-sustainability policies create more value to stakeholders and shareholders. Such companies develop a strong competitive advantage because they maintain and attract more employees and customers. Unfortunately, in many cases, organizations focus on corporate responsibilities, some of which exclude environmental issues. As it is revealed in this research, the environment must be sustained so consumers of the manufactured products can enjoy the products in a safe environment. This research focuses on how continuous improvement can be used for environmental sustainability. Apart from highlighting difficulties in using continuous improvement for sustainability, the research presents other approaches and tools to incorporate CI principles into a sustainability program.

  Abstract: Due to increasing competition in the international market, organisations are facing daily challenges. The market has become global and international, so organisations are forced to incorporate intelligent logistics systems to facilitate operations. It is important for organisations to know with whom and on what basis to enter strategic partnerships. The article discusses theories related to ISO standards that support intelligent logistics systems, and strategic partnerships. First, the authors present the links of standards that represent the tool of intelligent logistics systems. The authors describe the partnerships and indicators of logistics systems that affect the integration of the supply chain. The research is based on the analysis of supply data obtained by the authors from the purchasing system of the organisation. In conclusion, the authors present the results of the analysis.

  Abstract: Logistics is a considerable issue for the development of a state and its economy. Logistics is involved the forward and backward flows of goods and services from the point of production and point of consumption, and it is considerable for the development of the economy of a country. Yet, the aim of this paper is to review the correlation between the logistics sector of the Turkish Republic and its correlation to economic growth by employing Augmented Dickey Fuller-ADF, Phillips-Perron (PP), Kwiatkowski, Phillips, Schmidt, Shin (KPSS), Elliott, Rothenberg and Stock Point Optimal, and Ng-Perron unit root tests. As a result, there is a bidirectional positive causality between logistics sector and economic growth in the long-term, but there is no causality for short term. Moreover, the novelty of this paper is that it is the most up-to-date study to research logistics and its correlation to economics in Turkey.
