  • Effect of Media and Dosage of Gamal Leaf Compost on Growth and Yield of
           Mustard Greens (Brassica juncea L.) in Limited Puddle Irrigation System
           Cultivation

      Abstract: The research aimed to determine the effect of planting media composition and dose of gamal leaf compost tea, as well as to obtain the most optimal composition of planting media and dosage of compost tea to increase the growth and yield of mustard (Brassica junceaL.) in irrigation inundation systems. November 2019 in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor using a 3x3 factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) repeated 3 times. The first factor is the composition of the growing media, namely: 70% sand: 15% compost: 15% charcoal, 70% sand: 20% compost: 10% charcoal, 70% sand: 25% compost: 5% charcoal. The second factor is: compost tea dose, namely: 15%, 20% and 25%. The results showed that the composition of the growing media and the dose of compost tea did not interact on all the observed parameters. The main effect of giving the composition of planting media sand:compost:husk charcoal (70:25:5) was significantly different in providing better growth and yield of mustard greens, due to the increased concentration of compost in the medium. The main effect of giving a dose of 25% compost tea gave better growth and yields but not significantly different.

  • The Responses of Some Doses Fertilizer Bat Guano on The Crop Yield of
           Hiyung Chili Pepper in The Ultisols

      Abstract: Hiyung chili is a type of chili found in Hiyung Village, Tapin District, South Kalimantan with a spiciness rate of 94,500 ppm. Bat manure is a fertilizer that contains elements of N, P, and K which are important for plant growth and development and are expected to increase nutrient content in the soil. This study aims to determine the effect and the best dosage of bat manure on the growth and yield of Hiyung chili on ultisol. Ultisol is a soil that has low organic matter, yellowish-red soil, acidic soil reaction, low base saturation, high Al content, low nutrient content such as N, P, and K. This study used a single factor CRD consisting of 5 treatment levels, namely k0 = 0 t.ha-1, k1 = 1 t.ha-1, k2 = 2 t.ha-1, k3 = 3 t.ha-1, k4 = 4 t.ha-1. The results of this study showed that giving several doses of bat manure fertilizer significantly affected plant growth, leaf size, fresh fruit weight, cropping, and crop production. The best bat manure doses to increase growth and yield of hiyung chili plants at a dose of 3 t.ha-1

  • Effectiveness of Drying Time on the Quality of Lempuyang (Zingiber
           zerumbet) Using Batch Dryer Type

      Abstract: This research was conducted from August to September 2021 at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor and quality analysis at the Laboratory of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of natural air drying time on the quality of lempuyang (Zingiber Zerumbet) which was dried using a batch dryer, and to determine the content of flavonoid compounds and tannins in lempuyang using natural air drying. In this study, the total weight of lempuyang tuber slices was 60 kg which was obtained from Noepesu Village, West Miomaffo District, using a drying time of 5 hours, 10 hours and 15 hours. This study is an experimental study designed using a single factor Completely Randomized Design with drying time (A) treatment consisting of 3 levels, namely drying time of 5 hours (A1), 10 hours (A2) and 15 hours (A3) and repeated 2 times. so there are 6 treatment units. Drying was carried out with a thickness of 3 mm. The results showed that the drying time of lempuyang (Zingiber zerumbet) affected the levels of flavonoids and tannins contained in it. The optimum drying time is found at 5 hours of drying with a flavonoid content of 507.96 mg/g and a tannin content of 99.29 mg/g with a final moisture content of 9.19% ww. The best drying time is at 5 hours of drying where the highest flavonoid content is 507.96 mg/g.

  • Effect of Types of Organic Fertilizers on Growth and Yield of Some Sweet
           Potato Cultivars (Ipomoea batatas L.) in Dry Land

      Abstract: This research is to find out Effects Species Organic Fertilizers for growth and yield of few cultivar sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas, L.) on the arid land. The research was conducted in September 2020-December 2020 in the Faculty of Agriculture experimental garden, University of Timor, at Sasi Village, Kefamenanu, Timor Tengah Utara (TTU), using 2 factorial Stripe Plot Design (RPD). The first factor is the type of species organic fertilizers be composed of three stage namely: Control= without organic fertilizers, cow manure, goat manure. The second factor is cultivar sweet potato be composed of two level namely: red color sweet potato and purple color sweet potato. Comprise six combination treatment, was repeated 3 times so there are 18 units of research.The results research showed that there was interaction between the tipes of fertilizers treatment and sweet potato cultivar on the observed parameters of soil moisture content 80 HST, soil volume weight 40 HST, net assimilation rate, plant growth rate and harvest index.The application of types of fertilizer and cultivar of sweet potato, tipe of organic fertilizer of goat manure 64 g or equal with 10 t/ha produced the heaviest sweet potato tubers is 4,84 t/ha and cultivar sweet potato red color produced sweet potato tubers heaviest 3,49 t/ha.

  • Application of Giberelin (Ga3) and Vernalization Treatment to Improve True
           Shallot Seed (TSS) in West Miomaffo Sub District

      Abstract: One strategy to increase the production and quality of shallots is to encourage the use of planting material through seeds known as true shallot seed (TSS). The purpose of this study is to increase the production of TSS seeds and improve the quality of TSS onion seed from Miomaffo Barat subdistrict. This research used the Randomized Block Design factorial. The first factor was an application of gibberellin (GA3), consisted of three treatments i.e without GA3 (control) applications, GA3 100 ppm applications and GA3 200 ppm applications. The second factor was vernalization treatment at 10 oC temperature with three treatments i.e without vernalization (control), vernalization for 2 weeks and vernalization for 4 weeks. The results showed that the highest number of capsule peracel was found in vernaliazation treatment 2 and 4 weeks that is 60.67 and 59.00. The highest number of sealed pest capsules was found in 2 and 4 weeks vernalization treatment, 42.75 and 54.83. The highest number of seeds was found in 4 weeks' vernalization treatment with the value is 108.14. The number of seed showed that no significantly difference on the all of treatment. The highest of a maximum growth potential was found in 4 weeks of vernalization treatment 70%, germination on 4 week vernalization treatment, 50%, vigor index on 4 week vernalization treatment, 46.00%.
