Abstract: The landscape of Bogor Botanical Garden (BBG) is influenced by different eras, particularly Dutch Colonial and post-war Indonesia. The research investigates visitors’ perceptions related to landscape of BBG based on visitors’ on-site experiences. The research involved 94 research participants, include local tourists and landscape architecture students. They were asked to take photo of landscape or elements they deemed colonial look landscape style using their own camera and send them online to researcher by social media. Each respondent were handed a GPS logger to record the capture locations of each photo. The results revealed that the most photos of colonial look landscape style were consist of buildings and hardscapes as focused objects, where Presidential Palace and Lady Raffles monument were buildings that mostly appear in photos. The photos’ captured locations were also concentrated to those buildings indicated that landscape surround those buildings had strong characteristics of colonial landscape style. The study also showed the effectiveness of inviting participants with educational background in landscape architecture than normal visitors to show perception of colonial look landscape on BBG site.

Abstract: Semarang mangrove batik is the results of development and exploration of batik based on coastal environment especially mangrove forests. This has become a potential development of coastal batik, both as a coloring medium and as an idea to develop batik motifs. The study using qualitative method resulted in findings (1) mangrove waste, especially fruit, leaves, and stems producing different colors, can be used as eco-friendly batik coloring material which has soft, and classic monochromatic color characteristics. (2) Mangroves are also a source of ideas for developing motives with various variants of motifs, as well as motifs of trees and mangrove roots. (3) Utilization of mangrove waste as a dye for environmentally friendly batik is a manifestation of nature conservation which has an impact on the cultivation and maintenance of mangrove plants.

Abstract: The batik market experienced a significant increase - demanding the batik industry players to innovate. However most of the batik produced by traditional and small-scale industries (IKM batik). This study aims to encourage the productivity of IKM batik through the D'Batik software. D'Batik's software has several features to create batik motifs, which can be operated by ordinary people. The D'batik software was designed using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method with a prototyping model. The software was then tested in two locations - the village of Batik Bubakan Semarang and the batik center located in the Batik Village of Malon Gunungpati. The use of the D'Batik application can increase productivity by reducing the motifs creation time by 11.7 times faster. Future research can focus on the application of digital motifs to the technology of printed batik and stamped batik.

Abstract: Classification of living things is one of Biology material in the senior high school level which explains the formation of various animal and plants groups until structured the taxon following a hierarchy. The identification process of living things especially plants is one of activities that need students’ accuracy through observation. The plants identification process with determination key is main discussion on plants classification material in Biology learning for tenth grade of senior high school students. The problems found in living things classification material (plants) are difficulty in recognizing the plants characteristics, less key determination media, and lesson plan arranged by teacher tends only to be used for classroom activity. Furthermore, learning media is needed for increasing students’ competency from nature exploration which is used for identifying school’s environment. Plants key determination media which is developed from exploration of Guci forest tourism in Tegal Regency. Analysis of exploration result is 32 family and 50 species of plants are identified. The key determination media is validated by material expert with very valid result by score 85.7% and 94.4% from media expert. The media implementation in the learning results students’ score achievement by more than 93.9% students’ score surpassed KKM (minimum completeness criteria) with very good response from students and teacher while the method applied in the learning in the senior high school.
