  • Emerging applications, technologies, and services in wireless
           communications: 5G to 6G evolution

    • Authors: Mykola Servetnyk , Ruslan Servetnyk
      Pages: 3–10 - 3–10
Abstract: The fifth-generation (5G) of wireless communications was launched worldwide in 2020 with solid technical specifications and standards. Therefore, the focus of major vendors and academies is now switching towards deployment of beyond 5G (B5G) communications and 6G. As a result, provision and trends for global developments appear to outline requirements and services to satisfy future societal needs. This article provides a vision for the post-5G era of wireless communications, which serves as a research guide for scientists and commercial organizations. Current achievements of 5G New Radio (5G NR) are capable of bringing human-centric communications to their limit with applications such as Extended Reality (XR), Internet-of-Things (IoT), Smart Healthcare, 4K video streaming, etc. Therefore, we suggest that machine-centric communications will now emerge as a new part of 6G networks. To justify this perspective, we provide a systematic overview of emerging applications in wireless communications. We show how and why these services are possible by identifying key enabling technologies and advances in the manufacturing process. Further, we analyze trade-offs between solutions and required cost, which is essential for business model planning of 6G. Finally, issues behind the commercialization of future technologies, such as social and health factors, integration with existing networks, and inevitable performance limits from the basic sciences, are discussed.

  • Social security as a field of Euroregional cooperation. Deliberations on
the example of the activity of the Euroregion “Beskidy”

    • Authors: Sabina Sanetra-Półgrabi, Aleksander Sapiński
      Pages: 11 - 17
Abstract: The main aim of this article is to present the concept of the Euroregion as a platform for cooperation in the area of social security. The issue itself needs to be constantly updated not only because of the constant challenges facing the European Union and other countries. The outlook character of the article presents a view on the importance of cooperation between self-government administration bodies and other subjects of economic life for the development of cooperation within the Euroregions. The article mainly focuses on the fight against often negative stereotypes and undertakings whose task is to increase the standard of economic life by increasing activities aimed at improving the quality of Euroregional cooperation. The Euroregion "Beskidy" was selected for the study, which is diverse in ethnic, sociological, historical, but also economic and social terms. Its unique features have allowed the authors to more clearly emphasize the message of the article. Tourism and its international, Euro-regional character is also an important element of cooperation. In order to carry out the research that resulted in this article, the methods of researching the sources sucked in in terms of critical analysis of literature were used, as well as juxtaposing them with the previously conducted research on Euroregions and safety by the authors. On the basis of the analysis, the article presents a significant contribution of social integration and cross-border cooperation to the development of the Euroregion as well as to the development of social security as a non-military part of the research topic. The creation of new types of innovative pro-social undertakings opens up the Euroregions, and thus the Member States to further internal integration and intensification of activities to strengthen socio-economic cooperation with neighbouring countries.

  • Migration controls and counter-terrorism in Europe: a discussion of
           challenges and policies

    • Authors: Ziyad Abdulqadir
      Pages: 18 - 25
Abstract: This paper explores the European suspicion against the migrants and analyses the European security concerns regarding terrorist attacks. The paper shows that Europeans’ wrong perception about migrants has been created by homogenizing the category of migrants as well as politicizing the issue of migrants for electoral maneuvering. The suspicion has been grown after the 9/11 terrorist attack on America. Islamic radical organization Al-Qaeda perpetrated this attack to achieve its political agenda. This attack gave legitimacy to America and Europe to suspect everybody who is coming into their area. The studies on linking migration with terrorism show scanty evidence, but scholars have biased opinions on this. The paper explores all these issues.

  • Integration of banks and insurance companies activities in Ukraine

    • Authors: Оlena Zharikova , Kateryna Cherkesenko
      Pages: 42 - 57
Abstract: The article reveals the essence of modern bancassurance and new challenges and prospects for its development in Ukraine. The definition of “bancassurance” is theoretically substantiated and the general financial and economic characteristics of Ukrainian banks is given. The normative indicators of commercial institutions are analyzed along with the main risks affecting banking and insurance activities, the possibility of their leveling are determined. The study provides theoretical and practical information on the process of banks capital of and insurance companies merging, financial and economic analysis of JSC PrivatBank – one of the largest banks in modern Ukraine, and the assessment of the financial stability of its insurance partners. The insurance Ukrainian market study concerning the detection of possible prospects for cooperation with the studied bank was done. The calculations suggest that PrivatBank can cooperate with the leading insurance companies, such as AXA Insurance and Providna recommended as new partners. It is established that bancassurance technologies have a significant place at the current stage of development of the domestic financial market. Using a large customer base and a wide network of branches and outlets, banking experts expect that revenues from the sale of insurance products in 2021 may amount to 15% of total bank revenues, as the volume of bank insurance in JSC CB PrivatBank is growing quite rapidly. The activity of banks in market conditions is subject to its general laws, and therefore requires the development of a viable mechanism for managing financial activities, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of banks. Thus, the ability of bank managers to determine the degree of financial stability of their bank as well as that of the competing banks and counterparties is essential in making decisions. Therefore, the search for ways to optimize the financial condition of the bank is one of the principles of further rapid development of the banking system in Ukraine.

• Occupational risk assessment of passenger bus drivers

    • Authors: Nataliiа Borodina, Serhii Cheberiachko , Оleg Deryugin , Olena Tretyak , Ivan Bas
      Pages: 81 - 90
Abstract: The aim of this work is improving the procedure for professional risk assessment of passenger bus drivers, taking into account ergonomic, psychosocial, individual, and hygienic factors. To develop the methodology for assessing the professional risk of drivers the theory of analysis was used, which allows to establish alternative solutions of the problem by determining an integrated criterion that depends on a number of individual indicators characterized by ergonomic, psychosocial, individual, and hygienic factors influencing the working conditions of the passenger bus driver. A checklist has been developed to quickly assess the occupational risk of passenger bus drivers, which takes into account the impact of several harmful production factors that contribute to the creation of unfavorable conditions for the occurrence of occupational diseases.  A feature of this approach is the ability to distinguish the level of risk for each harmful production factor and determine the overall level of occupational risk. It is recommended to reduce the effect of occupational risk on the driver of a passenger bus to improve the system of medical examinations, the system of admission to the vehicles driving in the implementation of passenger traffic and strengthen control over the technical condition of vehicles. The relationship between the integrated criterion of occupational risk of the driver and indicators that are characterized by ergonomic, psychosocial, individual, and hygienic factors, which are formed by the working conditions of the driver in the carriage of passengers. As a result, a new approach (checklist) is proposed, which can be used in trucking companies without any additional equipment after training in testing.

  • Formulation of requirements for the protection of armored combat vehicles
           from damage by kinetic ammunition

    • Authors: Yana Horbachova
      Pages: 115 - 124
Abstract: The article presents the classification of armor barrier lesions according to the tactical feature and the nature of the deformation of the armor material. The lesions are considered safe and dangerous. The characteristics of the lesions, which are fragile and viscous, are given, on what their formation depends and what is their essential difference. The main factors influencing the nature of the damage to the armor barrier are identified, namely: the hardness of the armor barrier, the ratio of armor thickness to ammunition caliber, ammunition quality, armor barrier quality and temperature conditions and their characteristics. Also, it is determined how the shape of the main part of the ammunition and their hardness and strength affect the nature of interaction with the armor barrier. It is revealed what is meant by the quality of the armor barrier and the main defects of additional protection are identified, which can significantly affect the level of protection of armored combat vehicles. In addition, the process of choosing a rational way to protect an armored combat vehicle from kinetic ammunition is proposed, and a model of armor obstacle stability is presented to formalize the set scientific task on the basis of a set-theoretic approach. Based on this scientific task, it is necessary to determine the stability of the armor barrier at which its target function acquires the maximum value among all possible options.

  • Methodological approach to forecasting military expenditures of some
countries of the world based on analysis of the dynamics of these expenses
           for a long-term period (1999-2020)

    • Authors: Oleh Semenenkо , Liliia Semenenko , Victoriia Koverga, Iryna Chernyshova , Tetiana Sovhiria , Alevtina Getman
      Pages: 152 - 177
Abstract: Economic support plays a decisive role in strengthening the defense capability of any state. In most cases, the phenomena of wars and their beginning were stipulated by the struggle for resources, and sometimes, when resources were running out, hostilities were suspended. Plans for the development, construction and use of the armed forces are always developed taking into account the capabilities of the state. In addition, an analysis of the use of financial resources allocated by the state to ensure national security and defense makes it possible to find out the extent of its readiness for war. In the article, the authors propose a methodological approach to forecasting the country's military expenditures based on an analysis of the dynamics of these expenditures over a long-term period (more than twenty years). To analyze the dynamics and forecast of military expenditures, statistical data on the volumes of military expenditures of such countries as Lithuania, Poland, Great Britain, China, Germany, Russia, the USA, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine were used. To calculate the indicators of dynamics, the authors proposed to compare each level of the series with the same basic level. To calculate the indicators of dynamics, each subsequent level of the series is compared with the previous one. The most important statistical indicator of the dynamics is the absolute growth, which is defined as the difference between the comparison of the two levels of the dynamic’s series in the units of the initial information. The proposed methodological approach to forecasting the military spending of some countries of the world based on the analysis of their dynamics makes it possible to obtain a qualitative picture that characterizes the attitude of the state to its own security, and also allows us to fairly reliably predict the volume of defense spending in countries with a stable economy. Further research will be related to the study of internal and external factors affecting the level of military spending in certain countries of the world.

  • Financing the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine as a factor to impact for the
           system of resource provision

    • Authors: Evgeniy Volkov, Anatolii Loishyn
      Pages: 198 - 208
Abstract: The article is of interest to scientists and managers who are concerned with the comprehensive provision of Ukraine's defense needs. In the context of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine and the temporary annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, ensuring the urgent needs of Ukraine's defense is the highest priority of state policy. Ukraine's integration into the European space and its efforts to gain long-awaited NATO membership require a review and improvement of Ukraine's national security mechanisms, including resource provision. The key issue of the article is the analysis of the dynamics of expenditures from the state budget for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the context of ongoing aggression by the Russian Federation and the directions of their use. An integral aspect in the process of studying this topic was the analysis of costs for the development, purchase, modernization and repair of weapons, military equipment, tools, equipment and the dynamics of expenditures for the maintenance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The dynamics of nominal GDP indicators to the need for defense expenditures is also presented. The minimum steps for improvement of the existing mechanism of financial maintenance of needs of a defense, defense-industrial complex, and creation of effective system of management in the crisis period are offered. The analysis conducted in the article allowed to identify the existing gaps in the budget process, which is manifested in the variability of the approved allocation plans in which constant changes are made, volatile indicators of expenditures. The key issues in the context of the study are the long-term economic and political crisis and the long-term fight against corruption.

  • Recommendations for application of the methodological approach to the
military-economic justification of the choice of an option of the
receiving-impact system or complex in the programs (plans)

    • Authors: Oleh Semenenkо , Artem Remez , Vladimir Musienko , Ivan Motrunych , Andrii Bulhakov , Oleh Tarasov
      Pages: 209 - 221
Abstract: The state of the domestic economy and the level of implementation of modern technologies at the enterprises of the military-industrial complex make it problematic to fulfill all plans for the rearmament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a timely manner. Therefore, the most acceptable, both from a military and from an economic point of view, is the approach of situational integration of available forces and assets into target systems in a single information space by integrating reconnaissance, control and destruction assets. A reconnaissance and strike system, built of a multitude of subsystems united by information relations, which function as a whole, on the basis of uniform principles and rules, with agreed basic requirements for their components, which will increase the effectiveness of the combat use of troops due to a synergistic effect. Today, the integration of various forces and assets into target systems creates the preconditions for the existence of several possible variants of these systems, which have different assessments of the effectiveness of their use, the cost indicators of their creation, maintenance and use, as well as different time intervals for bringing them to combat readiness. Therefore, the system of indicators and criteria for evaluating and comparing various options for reconnaissance and strike systems or complexes, as well as existing approaches to justifying the choice of a rational option for these systems or complexes should have an integral criterion for choosing a priority option in the current situation. Therefore, the authors in the article proposed a general structure for constructing a methodological approach to a military-economic justification for the choice of a rational version of a reconnaissance-strike system or complex, taking into account military, economic and temporary factors that contribute to their creation, content and application, and also formed a complete structural and logical scheme of the proposed approach. In turn, the proposed methodological approach makes it possible to formulate basic recommendations on the procedure for its application in the headquarters, services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the formation of programs and plans for the development of weapons and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a whole.

Abstract: The article is of interest to specialists in the field of military management, who study the development of automation systems of the armed forces and automated control systems. The aim of the article is to study the trends in the development of automation and informatization in the defense sector of the world and the existing market of information systems. In the process of achieving the goal of the study the following methods of scientific knowledge were used: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, system approach. The article shows the relevance of the development of automation and informatization systems in the defense sector. The experience of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the implementation of these approaches is presented and the critical need for the introduction of information systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which should deter armed aggression by the Russian Federation, is emphasized. Analysis of global market trends information systems that must meet the defense needs country of the world.. In connection with the development of technology, improvement of old and creation of new models of armaments and military equipment (unmanned systems, space technology, network-centric approach to building a command and control system, artificial intelligence, etc.), the use of which is not possible without modern information systems. the importance of their introduction in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to prevent backwardness from world trends in the competitive struggle of the world's armies. These issues are especially important against the background of the war with Russia and Ukraine's integration with NATO member countries, which are at the forefront of technological innovation in the world.
