           in Medical Student

    • Authors: Salma Rizqi Amanah, Mila Citrawati
      Pages: 72 - 77
Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the association between physical activity and sleep quality with handgrip muscles strength of medical students at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta. This study was an analytical observational with cross sectional design. The participants were 75 male students aged 18-22 years old. Random sampling was used for this study. Measurement of physical activity was carried out using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and sleep quality using the Pitsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The strength of handgrip muscle was measured using Camry Handgrip Dynamometer. Result showed there was a significant association between physical activity with handgrip strength with significance value of p =0,000 (p <0,05) and sleep quality with p = 0,003 (p <0,05) using 95% CI. Multivariate test showed physical activity had more dominant association with handgrip strength with an OR score of 4,608 . Based on the result, it can be concluded student with good sleep quality and higher level of physical activity tend to have stronger handgrip muscle with physical activity as dominant factor.

  • Uric Acid and Nutrient Intake of Adolescent Soccer Players in Yogyakarta

    • Authors: Desty Ervira Puspaningtyas, Yuni Afriani
      Pages: 78 - 83
Abstract: The aim of this study was to view uric acid levels and nutrient intake of soccer players. This study examined the uric acid level differences based on nutrient intake of adolescent soccer players. Indeed, nutritional status monitoring is needed to evaluate health status which can contribute to athletes’ performance. This was an observational study conducted at SSB Real Madrid in April-September 2017. Subjects involved in this study were 27 active joined U-13 or U-16 in SSB Read Madrid UNY, Yogyakarta. Uric acid data were obtained by measuring peripheral blood sample. Nutrient intake data were obtained by using SQFFQ form. The differences in uric acid levels based on nutritional intake category were tested using ANOVA test. The average of uric acid levels were 6.72±1.21 mg/dl with average protein intake of 87.38±27.41 grams. The average of energy, fat, and carbohydrate intake was 2,189.02±464.87 kcal, 46.92±15.75 grams, and 365.61±82.32 grams. There was no difference in uric acid levels based on energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates intake (p=0.216; p=0.489; p=0.587; and p=0.845) of adolescent soccer players. The clearance of uric acid, the amount and type of fluid intake, the type of animal protein, and the purine-source food probably contributed to athletes’ uric acid levels.

  • The Impact of Social Media and The Presence of Fans at A Sports Event to
           Attract Private Sector Sponsors

    • Authors: Mohammad Saeid Kiani, Leila Nazari, Leila Shabazpor
      Pages: 96 - 100
Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of social media and the presence of fans at a sporting event to attract private sector sponsors. In the present study, in order to investigate the impact of social media and the presence of fans on a sports event in attracting private sector sponsors, the role of new media on how sports sponsors interact and the presence of spectators at sporting events is influenced by the extent to which sponsors participate in events. A review of research on sports media has been used since 2007, given that the category of new media is a new concept in sponsorship. This research seeks to achieve such results by reviewing the research conducted over that timeframe. Sponsorship appeared initially during the early 70s in England in sports and other industries. It subsequently developed in Western countries in the early 90s, experiencing a real boom. Thus, a new term has emerged: sponsorship (sponsorship in French) Indeed to define the word sponsorship (sponsorship and sponsorship will be used as a single term), it is therefore necessary to study precisely the work. It defines sponsorship as a financial investment or materials on an activity, person, or event and having access to a potential communication associated with this activity, person, or event. As a result, Minwan said, the greater the audience participation and the presence of sports media in a sporting event, the greater the attraction of private sponsorship in Moore

  • Evidence of Hypertension in Healthy Children and Its Association with Body
           Composition and Aerobic Capacity

    • Authors: Aaron Azzu Tetteh, Monday Omoniyi Moses
      Pages: 116 - 121
Abstract: Hypertension is mostly associated with adulthood and old age with little attention on children. This study provided evidence of hypertension in healthy children and its association with body composition and aerobic capacity (VO2max). 266 healthy children aged 8-11 years were recruited for the study. Blood pressure, heart rate, body mass index (BMI), basal metabolic rate (BMR), fat free mass, bone mass, visceral fat, total body water (TBW), and VO2max were measured. 18.79% were pre-hypertensive and 9.40% overweight at least, while 65.42% underweight. Correlation between blood pressure and maxVO2 was significant (P < 0.05). VO2max significantly correlate with body mass index (r = -.415, P < 0.05), fat mass (r = -.385, P < 0.05) negatively and visceral fat (r = -.267, P < 0.05) and positive with fat free mass (r =.385, P < 0.05) and bone mass (r =.077, P < 0.05). Gender differences were significant in BMR, TBW, VO2max and heart rate (P < 0.05). Evidence of hypertension in relatively healthy children is a clarion call to avert unprecedented decline in future life expectancy rate. Physical activity interventions are suggested antidotes to avert the risk factors of hypertension and excess body fat in children

    • Authors: Dwi Yan Nugraha, Randy S. Salman, Bambang Pratama J, Muhammad Gilang Al Fayed, Aidil Ikhram, Muhammad Irfan Bahrun, Fadila Khumaera Ridwan, Nurlifiana S
      Pages: 122 - 130
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine whether mental toughness can predict competitive anxiety through the motivation and competitive experience possessed by athletes. Respondents involved were 175 athletes who were students (93 female and 82 male). Path analysis reports that there are direct and indirect effects of the measured variable. Our results show the influence of mental toughness on competitive anxiety. However, the influence of exerted is a positive effect that if athletes have good mental toughness, then their competitive anxiety increases as well. Researchers suspect that there are other constructs that accompany mental toughness in influencing competitive anxiety in athletes. The mediation model also shows that athletes who have high motivation and competitive experience significantly mediate the influence between mental toughness and athlete’s competitive anxiety. Concluded that mental toughness, motivation, competitive experience, have a reciprocal relationship from competitive anxiety. In addition, the results of this study also reported that mental toughness, motivation, and competitive experience are able to predict competitive anxiety.

  • Physical Exercises By Giving Glutathione for Changes of Leukocytes,
           Neutrophils, and Lymphocytes Amounts

    • Authors: Tuty Yanuarti, Sugiharto Sugiharto
      Pages: 137 - 141
Abstract: Physical exercise changes the antibody endurance of each person. This study aims to determine in depth changes in the number of leukocytes, neutrophils, and lymphocytes using physical exercise after being given glutathione. The method used experimentally using a posttest randomized control group design. The study was conducted in three groups where each group consisting of men and women who are in the age range of 20-30 years. Each group consisted of 10 people (n), K1 was given a placebo, K2 was given glutathione 54 mg / kg BW, K3 given 108 mg / kg BW. All treatments are given intraperitoneally twice a day until the third day. Maximum physical exercise is swimming. On the third day after 3 hours of treatment (placebo or glutathione), then participants take a leukocyte profile measurement. The findings show that the number of leukocytes: K2> K1; P = 0.005; K2 - K3; P = 0.168; - K3; P 0.105, neutrophils: Kl, K2 and K3 are not different, even though K2 is highest, lymphocyte: K2> K1; P = 0.003, K1 - K3 and K2 - K3 is not different even though K2 is highest. The conclusion of this study is the number of leukocytes and lymphocytes treated with glutathione 54 mg / kg BW (K2) is significantly higher than K1 after strenuous physical exercise. Thus, the content of glutathione must be balanced with the body’s needs so that the body is healthy and is able to do the heavy activities.
