  • The EXERCISE INCREASES BRAIN-DERIVED NEUROTROPHIC FACTOR LEVEL ON
           PARKINSON’S DISEASE

      Abstract: With the current development of medical science today, anti aging medicine has developed rapidly, including in neuroscience aspect. Indicator of healthy aging is to maintain a good quality of life, include maintaining optimal brain function. One of lifestyle factors that can improve health, prevent chronic diseases, and maintain cognitive function is exercise. Exercise has been shown to increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which acts as a biomarker of neuroprotective. In patients with Parkinson's disease was found a decrease in BDNF serum levels. BDNF plays a major role as neuroprotection and neurorestoration, its levels can be increased through regular exercises with moderate-intensity. Thus, it can be considered as adjunctive therapy in Parkinson's disease. This literature review is to explain the correlation between exercise and BDNF level in Parkinson’s Disease.

      Abstract: In recent years, a lot of behavioral studies have shown that physical exercise and yoga have a positive impact on one’s physical and mental health. Yoga, which is increasingly used in the clinical setting of various mental and physical health problems, especially stress-related illnesses and concerns,  has shown promising effects. This research is focused on evaluation of the stress levels in one’s body by measuring the levels of salivary stress marker alpha-amylase in accordance with yoga and mindful meditation. This study will focus on literature review using Boolean operator with databases from ScienceDirect, Pubmed, and Cochrane.

      Abstract: The effect of  yoga in the increase in beta-endorphins biomarkers is the purpose of this literature review in the aging process. The method uses a database from Google Scholar, Researchgate and Mendeley. Search articles using keywords: yoga, sport, exercise, endorphins, anti-aging. Journals in English and Indonesian in the last 10 years have become our literature review material. The effect of yoga exercise intervention on the aging process (increase in one of the biomarkers, namely beta-endorphins) is obtained from 4 articles. What happens in the aging process is a decrease in functional capacity both at the cellular level and the loss of the ability to maintain body homeostasis, organ systems become dysfunctional and changes occur in the body. Essence; The physiological process of aging can be slowed down by doing yoga (endocrine, also cognitive, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and immunological),changes in biomarkers, one of which is an increase in beta-endorphins,so that yoga will improve body functions including increasing heart rate, blood circulation, helping to provide oxygen, nutrients to the skin, increasing collagen production and keeping new cells glowing and for antiaging and a better quality of life. Limitations to the review are only research published in the last 10 years. The limitation of the method used is that there is no quality analysis and risk assessment of bias.   Keywords: yoga; sport; exercise; endorphins; anti-aging

      Abstract: ABSTRACT Aging is something that definitely happens and we can't avoid it but we can prevent it. The quality and quantity of muscle mass decreases with age. Sarcopenia is a decrease in muscle mass accompanied by a decrease in muscle strength. Muscle metabolism is influenced by many factors and signaling pathways. The level of IGF-1 plays an important role in maintaining the quality of skeletal muscle. Recent studies have shown that resistance training is essential for muscle development and increasing the efficiency of agonist and antagonist muscle groups. However, research on this topic varies greatly in terms of the frequency, intensity, duration, and type of exercise that builds IGF-1. The study was conducted using the literature method. We reviewed and compared the most recent journals discussing the relationship between sarcopenia and regular long-term physical exercise. Physical exercise with resistance training showed significant results for muscle strength and muscle mass in the elderly. High-resistance training has a major effect on increasing GH and cortisol. In conclusion, certain physical activities have a positive effect on muscle health that can be withdrawn by IGF1. Keywords: Sarcopenia; IGF-1; Resistance training

  • THE AEROBIC EXERCISE INCREASES COGNITIVE FUNCTION BIOMARKER, KLOTHO
           PROTEIN, IN ALZHEIMER DISEASE

      Abstract: Aging is an inevitable process in human. It causes deterioration of many organs in human bodies such as the brain. The most common pathological aging condition in the brain is Alzheimer’s disease. This disease is the leading cause of deficits in short term memory, praxis, visuospatial, and executive function. It can impair cognitive function in older adults. A lot of intervention has been studied to treat Alzheimer’s disease. One of them is the aerobic exercise. Some studies find aerobic exercise increases the anti-aging protein, klotho protein. Klotho is a systemic-biomarkers that has an important role in sustaining cognitive function and brain integrity.  The level of plasma klotho protein is increased by doing aerobic exercise moderately for 12 weeks. The increase of klotho protein improves memory formation and hippocampus function. In Alzheimer’s disease, klotho protein has the ability to lower the formation of neurofibrillary tangles. Hence, aerobic exercise is an essential intervention to improve cognitive function in Alzheimer’s disease patient.

  • THE TAI CHI ROLES IN REDUCING FATIGUE, PAIN, AND TNF-a PLASMA LEVEL ON
           BREAST CANCER PATIENTS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

      Abstract: Background: Tai Chi and many other Mind-body therapies have been very popular over the last few decades as useful tools for reducing stress and improving health. These methods are non-invasive and inexpensive. There are several reports showing that Tai Chi (TC) can regulate the host's immune system in many illnesses. This review summarizes the Tai Chi’s influence on breast cancer (BC) patients. Survivors of  breast cancer often experience symptoms that reduce their quality of life during and after treatment, such as cognitive dysfunction, fatigue, sleep disturbances, depression, pain, and weight gain. The proinflammatory biomarkers like TNF-a, IL-1, IL-6 which activated through the central nervous system were believed inducing fatigue, pain , and other complications that caused hidarance on life activity. This becomes a serious problem as the  number of survivors increases. The results of most studies show that Tai Chi reduced fatigue, pain, plasma levels of TNF-a and overall quality of life in breast cancer patients. Objective: To identify and evaluate the effect of TC training on inflammatory biomarkers, especially TNF-a, pain, and cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in breast cancer patients. Methods: Journal searching processes were performed through five electronic databases (ProQuest, Sciencedirect, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Sage Publications) and restricted from 2012 to 2022. The search strategy on the electronic databases was using terms like 'tai ji', 'tai chi', 'tumor necrosis factor-alpha', 'Interleukin-6', 'fatigue', 'pain', 'breast cancer', ‘biomarker’, 'TNF', 'TNF-a', and 'TNF-alpha'. The limitation of the study was only using academic journals and limited to Tai Chi training as an intervention. Reviewers obtained as many as 1.557 research journals. Then the reviewers analyzed the journal's contents obtained based on the eligibility of the  topics, indexes or journal ratings through the Scimagojr website with journal criteria that met Q1 and Q2 quality, sample size, results from each journal, and limitations that occurred. Result: 15 journals were chosen to be reviewed and discussed about the intervention of Tai Chi, research methodology and study results using pain, fatigue and TNF-a biomarker. Conclusion: Tai Chi seems to be effective to reduce pain, cancer-related fatigue, and improves quality of life for breast cancer patients. accepts to TNF-a level plasma seems to be no different between usual care dan Tai chi practice. Moreover, it requires rigorous methodologies and randomized controlled trials to provide more reliable evidence.

  • Effect of Physical Activity on Sclerostin Concentrations in Blood Serum

      Abstract: After entering adulthood, the quality and quantity of bone decreases with age. Bone metabolism is influenced by many factors and signaling pathways. Sclerostin is an antagonist of the Wnt signaling pathway in osteoblast lineage cells, thus causing a decrease in bone formation. Recent studies have shown that mechanical loading of the bones, for example by doing physical activity, can affect the concentration of sclerostin in blood serum. However, research on this topic still has wide variations in terms of frequency, intensity, duration, and the type of exercise that can cause changes in serum sclerostin concentrations. This study was conducted using the literature review method, we reviewed and compared the latest journals that discussed the relationship between physical activity and sclerostin concentrations in blood serum. Physical activity that decreases sclerostin levels in blood serum is physical activity that has been done regularly and carried out over a long period of time. Physical activity that is only done occasionally will increase the level of sclerostin in the blood serum, which will then decrease again over time to the level as before physical activity was conducted. In conclusion, certain physical activity has a good impact on bone health that can be evaluated with the levels of sclerostin and may be a marker of physical activity towards aging of bones.

  • The Exercise Increase Nuclear Factor E2-Related Factor 2 (Nrf2) And
           Correlate With Aging: Literature Review

      Abstract: Aging is a natural life process. Aging is associated with oxidative stress that results in decreased function and structural organs, including mitochondria. Nuclear Factor E-2 related factor 2 (NRF2) is the master regulator of antioxidants. NRF2 can suppress the damage caused by oxidative stress. Our purpose is to see the correlation between exercise in improving NRF2 and efficacy to prevent aging. This paper is a literature review journal. Sources of data obtained for this journal are through databases of scientific information sources such as Proquest, Pubmed, Mendeley, Elsevier, Department of Sports Medicine, Medical Faculty of Uludag University, Nature Publishing Group, American Physiological Society, and Frontiers Media S.A. We use a data collection strategy using keywords: NRF2, aging, exercise to find journals/articles to be reviewed, with a limit of 5 to 10 years of the latest articles. During exercise, high-intensity interval training aerobic, NRF-2 increases peripheral blood circulation. Exercise causes temporary oxidative stress that will cause an adaptive mitochondrial response (mitohormesis) which will improve function and be resistant to stress. With increased mitochondrial function, organ damage can be prevented, improve skeletal muscle performance, and extend lifespan. NRF2 deficiency is associated with an increase in free radicals that will affect organ health, as well as a decrease in skeletal muscle function and mass. This review summarized exercises to increase NRF2, NRF2 function, and correlation with aging. The Limitation of this review is we used only research published last 10 years. The method limitation is a risk of bias.

  • The Use of Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) as a Potential Intervention
           for Sarcopenia in older Adults

      Abstract: As life expectancy increases and the population ages, effective interventions that promote long-term well-being and health are becoming increasingly important. Research results have proven that EMS can increase strength and muscle mass, so it is strongly suspected that EMS can be used to treat sarcopenia. This literature review summarizes various research results related to the use of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) as a possible treatment for sarcopenia in older adults. From various scientific references used, it was found that EMS have a positive role with sarcopenia, especially in improving the function of skeletal muscle. Low-frequency stimulation appears to be more effective at strengthening, whereas high-frequency stimulation appears to favor muscle mass gain. EMS also promotes changes in muscle fiber composition as well as Enhanced oxidative enzymatic activity and glucose uptake. Moreover, EMS increases muscle strength, maintains overall muscle fiber size (which decreases with aging), activates satellite cells, and ensures muscle adaptation. We can also speculate that EMS mimics the effects of endurance training, does not cause muscle damage, and activates molecular tissues similarly to resistance training. All of this data could be used to create therapeutic strategies for aging-related sarcopenia.

      Abstract: One of the most essential lifestyle variables that might help you improve with age is physical activity. Physical activity can help you stay in shape and lower your risk of acquiring a range of lifestyle conditions. Muscle mass decreases as people get older. These have an impact on muscle strength, particularly skeletal muscle strength. Vit D is a vitamin that is necessary for muscle strength and contraction. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to muscle effects such as fatigue and weakness, as well as hormonal and neurological impacts. According to recent research, persons who exercise more had higher vitamin D levels. The major goal of this narrative review was to illustrate the link between vitamin D levels and muscle aging.
