Authors:Damir Šabotić Pages: 13 - 26 Abstract: Jewish literature in Bosnia and Herzegovina between the two world wars is not the result of a peaceful weaving of tradition, but a constant struggle of different forces that made certain writers and their works important and famous, and marginalized others. The founding of the Jewish newspapers in Bosnia and Herzegovina between two world wars opened the possibility for public debate, polemics, and numerous literary contributions in the Judeo-Spanish and Serbo-Croatian languages. These newspapers show how a field of Jewish literature was formed and how the success of some writers and the oblivion of others was influenced by what we can conditionally call political and which is always present in the structure of the field as a force that regulates, directs, and shapes it. Authors:Nehrudin Rebihić Pages: 27 - 50 Abstract: The paper presents three literary images of the coexistence of Jews and Muslims in Ottoman Bosnia. The pictures chronologically represent a hodogram of coexistence from the 16th to the beginning of the 20th century. The first picture is Sušić's short story Šta učini Don Daniel Rodriga, in which the author first shows the early relationship between Bosnian Muslims and Jews in trade between the Ottoman Empire and the Venetian Republic, and then the social controversies that accompanied that process. The second picture is based on Bašeski's Ljetopis and presents a picture of coexistence in the daily life of Sarajevo in the 18th century, where it does not only include the beautiful and positive, but also the negative representations. However, this picture shows the dynamic connections between Muslims and Jews at the national level, but also the differences and tensions conditioned by the social, religious, and political context. The third picture represents the positive relationship between Muslims and Jews in the example of literary representations of Sarajevo’s Purim. Here we analyze the different interpretations of this event, as well as how much they, regardless of evident contradictions, together influenced the shaping of the discourse about this holiday of Sarajevo’s Jews. Authors:Šeherzada Džafić Pages: 51 - 68 Abstract: The Jewish cultural tradition, which within the framework of the Bosnian habitus went through stages - from assimilation, concretization, activation, and even fusion - represents a paradigm of intracultural processes in the complex Bosnian society. These processes take place through various interactions, which have not been bypassed by local literature, and are representative of one part of the literary oeuvre of Isak Samokovlija. Based on the theoretical starting points of intercultural interpretation and psychoanalysis, the work questions Samokovlija's short stories in which the characters act through the suppressed own versus the foreign. This is especially expressed in the stories “Od proljeća do proljeća” (From Spring to Spring) and “Plava Jevrejka” (The Blue Jewess). Authors:Ena Begović-Sokolija Pages: 69 - 88 Abstract: The literary opus of the Bosnian Franciscans is interesting in many ways from the imagological point of view: both concerning self-perceptions and hetero-perceptions, which were constructed based on the importance of religion as an element of community identity. Analyzing the imagotype potential of religious and ethnic divisions, the paper reconstructs the controversies between Christianity and Judaism, as well as linguistic elements, folk customs, and contemporary reality. At the source of the Bosnian Franciscan literature, at the beginning of the 17th century, we find Divković, who, as is often the case in pre-modern culture, relates the religious Other to the ethnic Other. This tradition is continued by the 19th century’s Franciscan chroniclers (Lastrić, Benić, and Bogdanović), while Martić, Jukić, and Knežević, who stepped into the era of the rebirth of Croatian Illyrianism, we can trace various normative implications of the relationship between political, ethnic, racial and religious identity. Since the Bosnian Franciscans of that time, we remember the ecclesiastical and intellectual elite among the Catholic population in Bosnia, the imagotypical statements about Jews in their works reflect both the Christian heritage through history and the Eurocentric view of the Others. Therefore, reconstructing the Bosnian Franciscans’ perceptions and ideas about the Other and the Different is, at the same time, reconstructing the genesis of the narrative about the Other, i.e., social and religious stereotypes and prejudices, as well as the continuity of talking about oneself by talking about the Different. Authors:Ana Cecilia Prenz Kopušar Pages: 89 - 102 Abstract: Laura Papo Bohoreta's theater, presented through the analysis of plays of the Sephardic tradition and social dramas, is the central topic of this work. On the one hand, we focus on the process of emancipation of the female characters, on the other, we highlight the need to preserve tradition. Two processes that the author combines in her dramatic work, either through conflicts between generations or through convergences between them. We present some of her texts as an example of her way of considering theater, where we find no gap between the dramatic text and the performance. Authors:Ana Cecilia Prenz Kopušar, Edina Spahić Pages: 103 - 116 Abstract: In this paper, we will look into the work of Laura Papo Bohoreta, a Sephardic author who lived and created in the first half of the twentieth century. Given that all her works are written in her native Jewish-Spanish language, our goal in this work is to point out the specifics of her creativity, in order to bring it closer to a wider readership. We especially aim to emphasize her enlightening role, and the role of guardian of tradition, culture, and language which she created and inherited. A particularly important segment on which her overall creativity is based is the role of women in society at that time. With this work, we will show how Laura Papo, through her female characters and their struggle, paved the way for Sephardic women to achieve their intellectual development and the process of affirming a woman outside her home. Authors:Stojanka Lužija Pages: 117 - 132 Abstract: Based on available archival material and periodicals, the author reconstructs the life story of Javer Effendi Baruch, one of the most respected and wealthy citizens of Sarajevo, during the Austro-Hungarian administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The personality of Javer Eff. Baruch has not been thoroughly researched in the historiography so far. It is known that Baruch gained a social reputation during Ottoman rule. After the arrival of Austria-Hungary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he not only managed to preserve and strengthen his social position but also acquired enviable wealth. This paper aims to present the unusual life path of a Sephardic from Sarajevo. The paper analyzes his life path from a supplier for military needs, a customs tenant, a Sarajevo city councilor, to a convict for insulting majesty. Based on the available historical materials, the existence of changes in the relationship between the then administration and society towards Javer Effendi Baruch after 1887 is examined. Authors:Ljiljana Dobrovšak Pages: 133 - 160 Abstract: The Zionist magazine Židov was published every Friday from 1917 to 1941 in Zagreb and was the only such magazine in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In addition to reports on socio-political events in Yugoslavia, Palestine, Europe, and the world, the magazine also contained various cultural contributions, polemics, advertisements, as well as obituaries, deaths, weddings, births, and other notices. A special column entitled "From Yugoslavia" contained information on the activities of Jewish municipalities in Yugoslavia, regardless of whether these municipalities were of Sephardic or Ashkenazi origin. Ashkenazis were behind the Zionist magazine Jew, but its articles also covered Sephardim. In this paper, the author analyzed the articles received from Bosnia and Herzegovina and published in the magazine Židov between 1917 and 1941. Authors:Mirza Mahmutović Pages: 161 - 186 Abstract: The study aimed to examine the characteristics of Bosnian daily newspaper coverage of the Jewish community of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2005-2021. Content analysis of relevant journalistic messages (N=1173) was employed to examine the frequency of their appearance, positioning and formatting patterns, dominant thematic fields, distribution of voices, and overall tone. The results of the analysis point to the contradictory features of media coverage of the Bosnian Jewish community, the limited possibility to achieve "symbolic contact" with the minority community, and the affirmative context of presentation. The study yields empirically grounded insights that allow a better understanding of the process of journalistic coverage of minority groups in multi-ethnic states marked by a history of violent conflicts. The study highlights the relevance of the theoretical understanding of journalism as a performative practice that participates in the process of (re)defining symbolic boundaries between different social groups. Authors:Stevan Milovanović Pages: 187 - 196 Abstract: In Sarajevo, since the formation of the Jewish religious community, the religious education of children has developed simultaneously. First, four-grade elementary schools, where mostly male children went, came forward. Later in the 17th century, Talmud-Torah secondary school was developed, while Yeshiva was only formed in the second half of the 18th century. Until the establishment of the Belgrade Yeshiva by Rav Yehuda Lerma in 5395 (1635) and the Sarajevo Yeshiva by Rav David Pardo in 5528 (1768), there were no rabbinical schools in the territories of the Western Balkans and neither rabbis. In the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, later the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, there was a need for qualified personnel for the religious education of Jewish children and youth according to general laws, in lower and secondary schools. On June 13, 1928, the Jewish Secondary Theological Seminary was opened, which began operating on November 25, 1928. The Seminary operated until 1941, when it was closed on April 6 by Nazzi Germans. The paper aims to present the development of Jewish religious education from the arrival of Sephardim to Sarajevo in the 16th century until 1941. To show the importance of the development of rabbinic and Talmudic studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the reputation of Sarajevo's Jewish religious schools in Europe and the world. Authors:Ajla Demiragić Pages: 199 - 218 Abstract: Zdenko Lešić, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most prominent literary theorists, published two novels in the period following the war: Sarajevo Tabloid (Split 2001) and About Tara (Sarajevo 2004). While the first novel, in the words of the author himself, can be read as a „contemplation of eternal human suffering, which tragically repeated itself in besieged Sarajevo” (2015:283), About Tara is a tragic family story from the immediate wartime past written through the experience of radical displacement in South Korea and the encounter with the Buddhist teachings. Relying on theoretical works about trauma fiction, this article aims to explore the novel About Tara as a polydiscursive text that reflects upon the possibilities of overcoming a traumatic experience through the Buddhist principle of compassion (karunā). Authors:Vildana Pečenković Pages: 219 - 240 Abstract: The paper questions the construction of identity in the novels of Slovenian-Bosnian authoress Valerija Skrinjar-Tvrz: Na svojoj, na plemenitoj, Jutro u Bosni and Bosna i Soča, which were combined and published as a trilogy this year. Integrating the period of medieval Bosnia, the First World War, and the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992-1995 into one whole, the trilogy achieves multiple coding. Although distant in time, driven by different motivations, and intersected by different ideologies, wars shape the lives of the heroes of this trilogy. In this unique poetic entity, the authoress managed to show the complexity of common life through individual destinies and “small stories” and to deconstruct the conception that history is made up of “big stories”. The identities of individuals in the novels represent the identities of communities whose borders are porous and threaten to destroy the established systems, while individual unfortunate destinies are a mirror of collective traumas from the Middle Ages to modern times. The Trilogy covers almost the entire Bosnian history, trying to include identity constructions and their associated identification features, which the authoress considers representative of contemporary identity re/configurations. Authors:Edina Kečo Pages: 241 - 258 Abstract: The collection of short stories Pobune was mainly analyzed from a literary theoretical perspective. The paper deals with the linguistic analysis of phrasemes modifications and the expansion of phrasemes in the mentioned work. The paper distinguishes between phrasemes modifications and phrasemes variations. Since the term phrasemes in modern phraseology is interpreted in different ways, this paper will analyze those phrasemes that have at least two autosemantic words in their composition, at least one of which has a transferred meaning. In the excerpted corpus, no author's modifications of idioms resulting from the reduction or condensation of certain lexemes were found, but only idioms created by expanding/adding lexemes that affected the modified meanings of those idioms. The aim of the work is the analysis of the author's phrasemes, finding synonymous phrasemes in consulted sources and giving meaning to those author's phrasemes that have not been recorded in both phraseological and general dictionaries of the Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian languages, but also in other consulted sources. Structurally and semantically modified phrasemes are found in the analyzed corpus. The recorded examples of idioms in the five short stories were used only once, and their unrepeatability also affects their more expressive value. The analyzed examples of the author's modifications of phrasemes are an indicator of the writer's ability to make recorded phrasemes more expressive, to change their meanings, and to construct new phrasemes that were not recorded. Authors:Ana Toplak Pages: 261 - 280 Abstract: The paper compares two graphic biographies with traditional biographies of the same authors – renowned Slovenian writers Alma Karlin and Ivan Cankar. It compares the manner in which graphical and text-only biographies present the characters, the character’s emotions and expressions, which life events they emphasize, and how they address the criterion of objectivity. The results suggest that the biographies in the two Slovenian graphics are less objective than textual biographies due to the pictorial material. Textual biographies present more information about the subject, while graphic biographies focus more on individual events, statements, and emotions, and present them more appealingly. Authors:Dražena Bošković, Ivona Šetka Čilić Pages: 283 - 306 Abstract: The phenomenon of English for specific purposes (ESP) occurred in 1960 as a result of a fast revolution in theoretical linguistics, followed by worldwide demands for a faster and better learning of the English language in both professional and academic environments, as well as a result of an increased pressure on educators and educational institutions to focus more on needs of students. English for specific purposes occurred within English Language Teaching (ELT); however, later, it became an autonomous subfield of applied linguistics. This article deals with major definitions of the concept, its origin, basic characteristics, followed by a discussion about the most prominent evolution phases of English for specific purposes. Furthermore, it tries to predict the future of this extremely important field. The article begins with an introduction where we present basic definitions and characteristics of the term. After that, we discuss the early years of English for specific purposes, key concepts with an emphasis on the notion of needs analysis and the modern era in which the genre becomes the central topic of study, but we also overview recent research in the field of corpus linguistics and ethnography. The conclusion discusses possible future directions and development of English for specific purposes.
Authors:Nejla Kalajdžisalihović Pages: 307 - 318 Abstract: The paper discusses the visual response to text as a reading strategy employed to determine which parts or main ideas of the text the reader focuses on while reading. It starts with an assumption that every reading is a unique experience to which readers bring their previous experiences, cultural and social backgrounds, as well as general or specific knowledge. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to provide a better insight into active reading (Carillo 2017) and present results of a case study that, through visual responses to reading, also addresses text processing in a multimodal setting. The methodological framework comprises a visual response task that requires that the readers draw or sketch a visual interpretation of the text. In this way, sketching in response to reading is used as a complementary component and a visualization tool in the reading process (Wilhelm 1995; Fernandes 2018). Based on the results of the research, it is proposed that visual response to reading can be used to enhance multimodal creativity, and vocabulary acquisition and fully immerse readers in the reading process. Authors:Selma Đuliman, Amira Sadiković Pages: 321 - 338 Abstract: This paper contains an analysis of the selected scenes from the play Krokodil Lacoste / Silvertown by Zlatko Topčić. The play won the “Alija Isaković” award in 2010, while the Cultural Association of Bosniaks Preporod published its dual Bosnian and English edition in 2016. The segments are analyzed parallelly in Bosnian and English for the purpose of observing the level of functional equivalence in the target text. The analysis entails extralinguistic and linguistic categories in accordance with the model developed by Hatim and Mason (1990) and later expanded by Zhang et al. (2015). The extralinguistic category includes, among others, the culture-translation relationship, and the linguistic category entails three dimensions: communicative, pragmatic, and semiotic. The analysis in this case includes the communicative and semiotic components. PubDate: 2022-12-30 DOI: 10.51558/2490-3647.2022.7.4.321 Issue No:Vol. 7, No. 4(21) (2022)
Authors:Miljan Gogić Pages: 341 - 364 Abstract: In contrast to the 12th and 13th centuries, the sources for the study of the Kotor notary in the 14thand 15thcenturies are significantly more numerous and diverse. In the first place, there are office notarial writings that have been preserved from the period 1326-1337, then the second half of the last decade of the 14th century, and, almost continuously, from the end of the second decade of the 15th century. Apart from them, individual documents created in the Kotor office during the 14th century have been preserved, which represent a very valuable source for studying the time when certain notaries worked in Kotor. An extremely important source for the study of this issue is the Grbalj cadaster which contains the notes of notaries and chancellors who drew up documents on the ownership of land holdings in Grbalj. Mentions of some Kotor notaries and the time of their activity can be found in the Dubrovnik archives of the 13th-15th centuries. A special type of source about Kotor notaries of the 14thand 15thcenturies contains their lists. One such can be found in the Zagreb copy of the Kotor Statute and contains a list of notaries from 1380 to 1487. The second one is the list of notaries and chancellors located in the National University Library in Zagreb. It is a particularly valuable source for the chronology of Kotor notaries from the second half of the 14th century, providing information about them until 1705. It brings the names of some hitherto little-known Kotor notaries from the beginning of the 15th century. PubDate: 2022-12-30 DOI: 10.51558/2490-3647.2022.7.4.341 Issue No:Vol. 7, No. 4(21) (2022)
Authors:Senadin Musabegović Pages: 365 - 378 Abstract: The paper focuses on the divergent national perspectives – Croatian and Serbian – regarding the reasons behind Yugoslavia's unification (the Kingdom of SHS), moreover on the causes of its disappearance from the historical scene, both as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes and as the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. From the perspective of Serbian „nationally conscious“ historians, it was the Croatian separatism that should be blamed for the downfall of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during the Italian and German occupation in 1941 as well as the inner disintegration of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1991. From the Croatian perspective, the reason behind the downfall of Yugoslavia is in Serbian unitarism, which, through Yugoslavia, aimed to dominate over the other nations. While condemning the nationalistic politics of other nations for the breakup of Yugoslavia, both of these nationalistic perspectives consider Yugoslavia an artificial creation. Miroslav Krleža, a Croatian and Yugoslav writer, criticized the politics of Croatian national separatism and Serbian unitarism in the texts he wrote during the time of the Kingdom of SHS (Yugoslavia). These writings also represent his efforts to open a possibility for a new political community based on socialistic principles. Although his polemic thought was based on the recognition of national particularities, Krleža was looking for ways to overcome the national antagonisms within socialist Yugoslavia. Although Yugoslavia disappeared, his thought on nationalistic antagonisms is relevant in the current political framework, the one in which national exclusion is dominating. Authors:Tamara Alebić, Ivan Včev, Nikola Volarić Pages: 379 - 394 Abstract: In the years after the Second World War, Osijek and Slavonia experienced a significant lack of trained medical personnel, especially dental personnel. A large number of such personnel were of Jewish origin and perished in the persecutions during the war, also a large number of people that were of German origin moved away from Slavonia. In addition to that, a considerable number of trained dental and medical personnel retired after the war, so the situation was very difficult. To improve the state of dental protection of the population, in 1961, the College of Dentistry was established in Osijek. The education lasted two years and was organized into six trimesters, after which the participants obtained the title of the senior dentist. During the ten years of activity at the College of Dentistry in Osijek, there were several hundred students who studied from all parts of the country at the time, but mostly they were from Slavonia. In this way, this educational institution fulfilled its goal. The shortage of trained dental personnel has been reduced and Osijek and Slavonia are catching up with the rest of Croatia in the number of medical personnel. In 1971, the College of Dentistry ceases to operate, transforming into the Polyclinic for the protection of teeth and mouth in Osijek, which continues the tradition of dental protection of the population and training of dental staff. Authors:Muedib Šahinović Pages: 397 - 414 Abstract: This paper puts forward the question of the correlation between the religiosity of Bosniaks and their identity, which has gone through numerous phases through the centuries-long process of evolution of ethnonational collective consciousness and very often reflexively influenced the content and manifestation of the phenomenon of religiosity. From a contemporary sociological perspective, through methodologically based research, it was necessary to redefine the phenomenon of the religiosity of Bosniaks and determine its real impact on identity construction. During the research, it was determined that Islam is not a key and dominant identity basis for Bosniaks, but is selectively accepted through the traditional aspect, subjected to the process of adaptation, and used (instrumentalized) only as a cohesive and identifying tool, provided Bosniaks with the substratum of collectivity and crucial specificity of their identity. Authors:Enes Pašalić Pages: 415 - 428 Abstract: Education as a differentia specifica of man can not be reduced to an instrument of training individuals, by acquiring knowledge and skills, to achieve certain goals. With Hegel and his notion of "bildung", education is no longer treated as a means, but as an end in itself, an immanent moment of the historical development of individual self-awareness and the world spirit. The tradition of education in Brcko is rooted in religious education from the Ottoman period, with certain steps forward towards civic education in the periods of Austro-Hungarian rule, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and socialist Yugoslavia. The greatest strides in the field of education, Brcko has achieved in the economic and commercial scientific fields, especially after The Faculty of Economics was established in 1976. Unfortunately, in the period after the establishment of The Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2000, and the founding of private universities, higher education in Brcko has been reduced to goods and profit, a corrupt combination of politics and university management, that not only has distanced Brcko’s higher education from the ideal of Hegel's “bildung”, because it has never even been close to that ideal, but it also largely canceled the achievements of higher education in the economic and commercial scientific fields. Higher education in Brcko today produces educational fiction that has no basis in reality. PubDate: 2022-12-30 DOI: 10.51558/2490-3647.2022.7.4.415 Issue No:Vol. 7, No. 4(21) (2022)
Authors:Muharem Adilović, Ajdin Huseinspahić Pages: 431 - 454 Abstract: Every social phenomenon has its own "life" cycle from origin and development to termination. It's the same with marriage. However, the termination of marriage should not produce negative consequences primarily for children, as subjects who did not decide on the formation or termination of marriage, but also for the family as a community of special social interest. That is why the institution of mediation has been established in the legal order, as a kind of "therapeutic" institute that should help overcome all the negative consequences of the end of a marriage, both on the part of the children and the spouse. The paper, therefore, emphasizes the constitutional foundations of marriage and the family, with a special focus on mediation before divorce, intending to analyze normative solutions and their application in practice, and offering de lege ferenda proposals in the existing constitutional and legal frameworks to help people when solving possible misunderstandings that can weaken marital bonds and destabilize the entire family system with their negative consequences. We focused special attention on the advantage of mediation in resolving marital disputes, and the most common contents of mediation during divorce are also listed. If problems arise in the marriage due to which it cannot survive, thereby losing its function, the spouses initiate a divorce case before the competent court. Before making the final decision on divorce, the spouses are obliged to turn to a competent mediator who will provide them with the necessary assistance to determine the possibility of survival of the marital union. To collect the highest quality data, empirical research was conducted in cooperation with centers for social work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, which we used when analyzing the current situation and synthesizing conclusions to improve it. Authors:Luna Marija Bogadi, Aleksandra Golubović Pages: 457 - 480 Abstract: Upbringing is a complex life process of building and developing a human being following his/her characteristics. For the process of upbringing to culminate in the formation of intellectually and morally complete and independent people, the question has always arisen as to what it is that makes it effective. The main intention of this paper is to present and analyze fundamental educational guidelines devised and posited by famous philosophers of antiquity –Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle who focused on achieving personal autonomy, without neglecting the fundamental characteristics of socially acceptable frameworks of morality. The paper will present the development of fundamental educational ideas in antiquity, with special emphasis on building the authentic individual and the citizen as one of the main instruments of upbringing both in the past and today. Authors:Mirjana Beara, Lejla Muratović Pages: 481 - 452 Abstract: An achievement motive is a significant predictor of achievement in many areas of work. Our research aimed to determine whether it is possible, based on the achievement motive and its factors, to predict the readiness of teachers for professional development and certain sub-factors of this dimension. Also, through research, we tried to determine the predictive value of socio-demographic variables: gender, years of service, type of school where teachers work and previous education, motivation, achievement, and readiness of teachers for professional development. The research was conducted on a sample of 452 primary and secondary school teachers, and the following research instruments were used: Scale MOP 2002 (Franceško, Mihić, and Bala 2002) and Scale SPR–N (Beara and Okanović 2010). The results have shown a relationship between the general achievement motive and teachers' readiness for professional development. Multivariate analysis of variance determined that the components of achievement motivation, such as setting and achieving goals, competition with others, persistence, and orientation toward planning are statistically significant predictors of certain aspects of teachers' readiness for professional development. The research determined that the socio-demographic variable years of service statistically significantly predict the motivation of teachers' achievements, while gender is a significant predictor of teachers' readiness for professional development. Taking into account the fact, that the professional development of teachers is one of the key elements of the quality of education, the obtained results offer information about the foundations of professional development and indicate the direction of the practical activities of experts in this area. Authors:Nemanja Vukanović Pages: 503 - 520 Abstract: Family communication with all its specificities has a significant impact on the functioning of its members. This means that the effects of family communication are woven into all segments of the life and work of the persons who make up the family community. Emphasizing the importance of family education, the aim of our research was to use empirical non-experimental research to examine the connection between the types of family communication and the success of students in mathematics in the fifth grade. 161 fifth-grade students from two Banja Luka schools and the same number of parents participated in the research. Statistical significance was determined between the final grade in mathematics and violent and nonviolent communication and between autocratic and democratic communication and the final grade in mathematics, as well as between violent and nonviolent communication and success on the knowledge test and school achievement in mathematics. Authors:Senada Mujić Pages: 521 - 540 Abstract: The aim of this paper is to determine to what extent course curriculums of the pedagogy studies develop competencies in students for partnerships with parents. In order to achieve this aim, course curriculums of the pedagogy studies have been collected and analyzed at public universities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this research the following curriculums are analyzed: study curriculum of pedagogy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, the Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla, and the Teaching Faculty in Mostar. The conducted analysis, which included pedagogy study curriculums in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, showed that there are no explicit and closely related courses with the aim of acquiring competencies for the partnership with parents. The results, also, point to the conclusion that there is a connection between the aims, contents, and learning outcomes within the course subjects aimed at the study of family upbringing, and that the scope of contents related to the development of competencies for partnership with parents, and which is included in the listed course curriculums, is insufficient, as well as intended obligatory and additional literature at those courses which refer to the area of partnerships between pedagogues and parents. The listed results indicate the need for the improvement of pedagogy course curriculums in the area that refers to the representation of course subjects primarily oriented towards the development of pedagogue’s competencies for partnerships with parents, and in the area of representation of the scope of course contents related to this domain. Authors:Ranka Perućica, Sanja Živanović, Draženko Jorgić Pages: 541 - 558 Abstract: Learning any type of material or any activity can be a burden for an individual. If we are dealing with individuals at younger age periods, then that burden becomes even heavier. Practice shows that students are generally not willing to learn, and there are more and more educators who are dissatisfied with the way students learn at all age levels. We should look for the result of dissatisfaction in the causes, and the task of educators should be to instruct students to primarily learn to learn. Dissatisfaction should be sought in the causes, and the task of educators would be to instruct students to primarily learn to learn. The goal of the paper is a consistent theoretical review of learning to learn, viewed through a kind of "binocular" of the author for the analysis of the problems of learning to learn, based on "listening" to practice. Using the method of theoretical analysis, we elaborated the theoretical foundations and performed an analysis of the available literature on the issue of learning to learn, observing the same in its way through permanence, determinism, integrative, multi-layered dimension, and intellectual education. reviewing the literature that deals with the issue of learning, we tried to point out the importance of the same, to develop theoretical foundations that will help all those who are engaged in educational work in developing awareness of the importance and popularization of this issue on the one hand, and on the other hand, it can represent a foundation for some future research. Authors:Daliborka Škipina, Branka Kovačević Pages: 559 - 576 Abstract: Petar Mandić is one of the most outstanding educators of the 20th century, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also further. In the focus of Mandić's pedagogical work were many questions and answers related to improving school work and teaching. The theoretical study aimed to analyze and present the value of Petar Mandić's pedagogical and didactic ideas for improving educational work in school and the teaching process. Petar Mandić's scientific research covered various fields of pedagogy, psychology, and other related sciences. Mandić's pedagogical ideas shed light on family pedagogy, the history of pedagogy, methods of educational work, preschool pedagogy, home pedagogy, comparative pedagogy, pedagogical psychology, andragogy, teaching methods, pedagogical methodology, and other scientific disciplines. Contemporary didacticians find Petar Mandić's ideas theoretically and methodologically grounded, thematically and structurally articulate, and characterize them as a courageous scientific endeavor accompanied by a critical and creative attitude towards theoretical sources and technical and technological novelties in teaching. The value of Petar Mandić's didactic ideas refers to the orientation towards new, modern and productive solutions (team teaching, dual progress plan, school without classes, flexible class schedule, micro-teaching, individually planned instruction), instructions on the application of innovations (use of computers and educational television in teaching process) and knowledge about the electronic classroom and individualized instruction. Authors:Jelena Marković Pages: 579 - 600 Abstract: The basic goal of this research was to examine which aspects of work motivation and perfectionism predict workaholism, in order to identify potential risk factors. Workaholism is defined as an internal need to work excessively that damages our health and psychosocial well-being, leading to long-term exhaustion and work inefficacy. Intrinsic motivation stems from the feeling of satisfaction inherent in doing work-related tasks and using our professional competencies, whereas extrinsic motivation stems from external rewards, a satisfaction of our other needs through work. The basis of neurotic perfectionism lies in the constant discrepancy between the goals person has set and what is achieved, which can lead to chronic dissatisfaction. The following instruments were used: The almost Perfect Scale, the Work extrinsic and intrinsic motivation scale, and Bergen Work Addiction Scale. The sample consisted of 109 participants, workers from the Republika Srpska area, aged 21 to 55. Most of the sample consisted of female participants (75.24%). The results of Kolmogorov-Smirnoff tests show that participants' scores on all examined variables are distributed normally. The fact that workaholism is moderately present in our sample is opposite from original expectations and highlights the need to further examine the prevalence of this phenomenon in the general working population. The predictive model as a whole is statistically significant (F(5,103)=5.01,p<0.00) and predicts 16% of workaholism variance. However, only perfectionism component discrepancy was a significant and positive predictor of workaholism, but not intrinsic or extrinsic work motivation. The results suggest that workaholism can originate from the efforts of perfectionistic persons to overcome their perceived failures in achieving their unrealistically high goals. It is possible that, through time, obsessive work becomes a means to avoid dealing with negative emotions towards themselves, and also as a way to excuse themselves from real or irrational failures (“I did not achieve my goal, but I worked really hard and I will keep trying”). Of course, in the long run, excessive perfectionism combined with workaholism leads to utter exhaustion and further deterioration of work performance. In order to cope with the constant rise of negative feelings a person tries to work even harder and to achieve increasingly unrealistic goals, leading to a downward spiral of self-destruction. The implications of this research are that in order to treat workaholism it may be necessary to question the structure of unattainable goals that a person sets and the underlying feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, and self-loathing that may play an important role in perpetuating maladaptive behavior of a typical workaholic. Workaholism must be studied as a part of wider personality structure and dynamic, as it serves an important (and maladaptive) role in defense against unwanted feelings and ideas of lesser worth, failure, etc. PubDate: 2022-12-30 DOI: 10.51558/2490-3647.2022.7.4.579 Issue No:Vol. 7, No. 4(21) (2022)
Authors:Miralem Dautović Pages: 603 - 624 Abstract: The article discusses the implications, potential, and ways of using online media in the context of television journalism. Watching TV together is moving to social networks. Relying on the concept of social television viewing, the paper tried to study how television station editors use social networks, as well as to what extent social networks use television as a source of content. These questions were investigated empirically using the method of content analysis on a sample of 10 BH. television stations. The results point to three areas: 1. watching television on social networks as a social activity (Social TV), 2. television as a resource and source of content for social networks, and 3. social networks as a new television platform. The article provides a contribution to a poorly studied area in studies of the adaptation of television to the contemporary convergent environment. Authors:Jadranka Zlomislić, Mato Matijević, Katarina Šijaković Pages: 625 - 648 Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation that has brought great changes and new opportunities in all aspects of the everyday life of people worldwide. The overall objective of this research was to gain a better understanding of the digital inequality among ICT and Internet users in Eastern Croatia by identifying categorical inequalities (Van Dijk 2005, 2017) in the form of key obstacles that affect their successful use in everyday life, among them being age, insufficient digital literacy and knowledge of the English language. The research was conducted using a questionnaire (Google Forms) covering different age groups and their user characteristics and experiences in acquiring digital knowledge and skills such as understanding multimodal icons that combine verbal and visual material, use of translation tools, use of the English language on the Internet and use of online content. Building upon previous research on the digital divide, this research contributes to broadening perspectives on the importance of caring for older users of digital technologies and understanding the barriers that lead to participation inequality in an increasingly digitized society. The results of the survey show that obstacles related to the lack of knowledge of ICT, difficulty finding their way around search engines, and insufficient knowledge of the English language are the obstacles of respondents over the age of 36. Authors:Samila Ramić, Nusreta Salić Pages: 651 - 668 Abstract: The paper analyzes the policy(s) of harmonizing family and professional obligations in the context of the legal regulations of both domestic and international documents that are applied in B&H. The subject of the research is based on the analysis of family policy measures that are directly aimed at harmonizing family and professional obligations in B&H, by reviewing the existing policies and practices of social and labor legislation at the level of three administrative units: Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Srpska and The Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As part of the research, current measures and activities that are regulated by laws in B&H, such as maternity/parental leave (time), maternity benefits (money), and childcare services (services of preschool institutions) were analyzed as important factors when harmonizing family and professional obligations. The policies of harmonizing family and professional obligations in B&H are harmonized with EU standards, but they are not sufficiently developed, which means that parents must make additional efforts to meet the demands of the workplace and the family. To achieve a balance between the demands of the labor market, the level of monetary benefits and the length of payment, the possibility of taking leave and the use of childcare services, taking into account the circumstances first in the economic sense, it is necessary to work on improving the measures in this area, respecting and the choice of the parents themselves. Authors:Samra Mahmutović, Marijana Kletečki Radović, Vesna Huremović Pages: 669 - 692 Abstract: Mental health, along with physical and social well-being, constitutes the general health of an individual, and it is considered that there is no health without mental health. According to the dual model of mental health, the mental state of an individual does not depend solely on the presence of a diagnosis of mental illness, but also on the subjective feeling of well-being. This means that a person with a mental disorder or illness can have good mental health and vice versa. New approaches in the protection of mental health and the treatment of people with mental illnesses are based on the principles of empowerment, recovery, social inclusion, human rights, multidisciplinarity and multisectoral cooperation. The aim of this paper is to present the concept of recovery of people with mental health problems, starting from a holistic understanding of mental health. Recovery is understood as a process that involves an individual who has hope and is aimed at overcoming psychological suffering, but also experts who shape and conduct their professional procedures with the aim of creating conditions for increasing the well-being and productivity of the individual. Also, the approach to recovery is incorporated into the development and organization of modern Community mental health care services. Under this aspect, the paper will present the development of psychiatric care and Community mental health services on the example of Centers for mental health in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Despite the knowledge and clear documents that focus on mental health care and support services for everyone in the community, there are significant challenges in implementing that type of mental health care system. Authors:Marija Marković Pages: 695 - 720 Abstract: The realization of inclusive education at the preschool age is an important effort within the school system of a country. It has been established that inclusive education has a stimulating effect on children with disabilities, as well as on typically developing children. Because of this, it is necessary to start with its realization at the preschool age. The paper presents the results of empirical research conducted on a sample of 763 parents of children attending preschool institutions in the territory of eastern and southeastern Serbia, which were collected using an assessment scale specially constructed for this research. Bearing in mind the importance of the formation of positive attitudes of parents as key actors in the upbringing of typically developing children, who should represent to their children a model of adequate behavior towards persons with developmental disabilities, the research aims to examine the attitudes of parents about inclusion in the system of state preschool institutions. It was established that the majority of parents recognize the most significant advantages of inclusion and the prerequisite for achieving inclusion in the context of institutional preschool education. When it comes to obstacles to achieving inclusive education, it was found that parents recognize them to a lesser extent. Also, it was established that there are statistically significant differences in parents' responses to certain items concerning the variables of gender, age, and level of education. The findings of this research can represent a good starting point for improving existing institutional practice in the context of inclusive education.
