Authors:Ömer ERDOĞAN; Mutluhan ERSOY Abstract: The main purpose of the study is to investigate the experiences of stigma and its relationship with depression and anxiety in those with COVID-19 who recovered in the first year of the pandemic, when the vaccine was not developed yet. The study was carried out in two parts, and it was carried out with the quantitative method using the COVID-19 Stigma Scale and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale to 1227 people with first stage COVID-19 disease and a recovery period of at least one month. The second stage was conducted with qualitative interviews with 50 participants in order to reveal the stigma with their life experiences. The results of the analysis of the data obtained showed that the perception of stigma was high among those who had COVID-19 disease. While the highest level of stigma perception was seen among the participants aged 60 and over, it was found that the perception of stigma decreased as the education increased, and the perception of stigma increased as the recovery time increased. In addition, as the level of stigma perception increases, both the depression and anxiety levels of the participants increase. In the qualitative interviews, themes related to the participants' feelings, thoughts and stigmatization perceptions regarding the disease were discussed before they contracted the COVID-19 disease, during the disease process and after recovery. While the most experienced emotions during and after the illness were feelings of fear and anxiety, it was stated that the participants experienced stigma in their immediate social environment after the illness and this shook them. Authors:Lara GİTTO; Antonio Rodriguez ANDRES Abstract: Using data from a sample of 250 people attending a University of the Third Age in a Southern Italian town, this research examines the impact of ICTs on psychological well-being, estimated through the administration of the WHOQOL BREF questionnaire. Discrete choice and multivariate regression models are applied; Psychological and Social dimensions, both components of the WHOQOL BREF questionnaire, have been included among the regressors. Results show that the ability to browse the internet and the frequency in the use of ICTs have a relatively significant effect on wellbeing. These findings pave the way for further analysis and comparisons within other Universities of the Third Age. PubDate: Sat, 30 Apr 2022 00:00:00 +030
Authors:Abel; Jr. ALVAREZ, Hajji PALMERO Abstract: Many schools around the world are looking for various approaches to continue the delivery of teaching and learning delivery despite the threat and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Educational institutions considered the idea of mixing and matching the different teaching and learning approaches to address the learning needs and conditions of the students in this time of global health crisis. In the Philippines, the problem of uncontrolled surge of COVID-19 cases put face-to-face classes still on hold, thus, resulting for colleges and universities to engage in emergency remote education. This phenomenon paved the way for courses like National Service Training Program or NSTP, which is a community-based immersion course, to resort to asynchronous online learning delivery. Interestingly, there were three themes or types of learning engagements that were revealed in a study using a phenomenological research design to ten purposively selected NSTP 2 students. These themes are student-content, student-teacher, and student-student engagements. It was found out that the theme student-content engagement is highly present in an asynchronous online learning environment while the other two forms of engagement can be described as limited or lacking. This scenario suggests the need for policy makers and curriculum developers to rethink and revisit the course design and delivery of NSTP 2 to address the challenges experienced by the students in this type of online learning approach. Authors:Şeyda DELLALOĞLU GÖĞEBAKAN; Elif SAZAK Abstract: This research aims to determine the knowledge levels of special education teachers on the behavioral intervention techniques that are commonly used during the behavioral treatment of their students and to examine whether the demographic variables have effects on teachers’ knowledge levels or not. Within the scope of research, data was collected from 295 special education teachers from 10 different cities. The data is collected through the Knowledge Test of Frequently Used Behav-ioral Intervention Techniques (F-BIT) and Demographic Information Forms that are already developed, valid, and reliable by the researcher. Later on, the data has been analyzed through descriptive statistical techniques. As for the results, the lowest grade that is obtained from the knowledge test was 5 and the highest was 30 while the average was 21 and the standard deviation was 4,74. During the research, it has been determined that knowledge levels of teachers are limited and gender does not have any effect on these limited levels. All the results have been discussed in the context of the importance of behavioral intervention, current conditions, and requirements of the process. PubDate: Sat, 30 Apr 2022 00:00:00 +030
