SelfEsteemes and Perceived Ease of Use in Consumers Online Shopping

    • Authors: İbrahim DURMUŞ
Abstract: In today's web environment, many factors may affect consumers' purchase of ready-made clothing products. In many previous studies, these factors were examined separately. Unlike the previous researches, while consumers purchase ready-made clothing from the web; It was aimed to determine the level of relationship between each other, their lifestyles, satisfaction levels, and self-esteem and their ease of use. For this purpose, the electronic survey method was applied to 390 consumers who buy ready-to-wear products from different sites on the web, and the related results were interpreted with structural equation modeling. When the research results are evaluated in general; The ease of use perceived for the websites has revealed a full mediation effect in the effect of consumers on their satisfaction. The perceived ease of use has shown a partial mediating effect on the impact of consumers' uniqueness on self-esteem. The ease of use perceived by consumers in the impact of diversity searches on their satisfaction and self-esteem has had a partial mediating effect. Also, the ease of use perceived towards the websites also showed a partial mediating effect on the satisfaction levels of consumers and their self-esteem

  • Relationship Between Perceived Organizational Support and Job Engagement:
A Research on the Banking Sector

    • Authors: Edip ÖRÜCÜ; Itır HASIRCI
Abstract: Our study to determine the effect of organizational support perception on passion for work is closely related to Kahn's theory of psychological conditions. The perception of organizational support, which is an important factor to highlight the expected performance of employees, is an important element for the continuity of businesses. As businesses value their employees, therefore, as the perception of organizational support spreads, passion for work will increase in the same direction. The perception of organizational support, which values the thoughts of employees, also puts their happiness at the forefront. The population of the research consists of 175 bank personnel in Bandırma district. A survey was conducted with 110 employees out of 175 bank employees. The collected data were analyzed with the help of a package program. In the study, reliability analyses of organizational support perception and work engagement scales were determined. In addition, correlation analyses and regression analyses were also measured in the scope of the study. As a result of the analyses, it was concluded that the perception of organizational support had a significant and positive effect on passion for work. The results are interpreted and discussed at the end of the study.

  • An Evaluation of the Disputes of Islam and Socialism in Turkish Thought in
           the Axis of Yön Journal

    • Authors: Elif TÜRKİSLAMOĞLU
Abstract: A dispute arose in Turkish thought in the mid-1960s after the translation of the Roger Garaudy’s book -Socialism and Islam- by Doğan Avcıoğlu and E. Tüfekçi (Mihri Belli, the writers of Yön journal. The dispute was about whether socialism was a convenient social order for Islamic life or not. The idea of reconcilement of Islam with socialism, as a doctrine of social order, extends back to the beginning of the 20th century. In Turkey, together with the appearance of the socialist movement, some elements of the Islamic rule were put into forward as basis for socialism. The disputes in Yön magazine came into the scene between E. Tüfekçi who defended this idea and Niyazi Berkes, who defended that İslam was not a religion leaned on socialism. The dispute went on among the other thinkers out of Yön. In this study, depending on the diputes that arose in Yön magazine about socialism and Islam, in the mid-1960s, it is aimed to make an assesment of the reclections of the idea of reconcilement of socialism and Islam both in Turkish and Islamic thought.

  • Privatization, Trade Union Movement and Employment Relations: The Case of
           Yatağan Thermic Power Plant

    • Authors: Çisel EKİZ; Süleyman GİRGİN
Abstract: Privatization affects the working conditions of both the employees who continue to work in the same workplace and who are relocated to other public institutions after the privatization. This study aims to evaluate the changes in the working conditions of those workers who continue to work in the Yatağan Thermic Power Plant and associated mine after the privatization as well as to examine the significance of unionization on the collective labour agreement signed after the privatization of the plant. For this purpose, a questionnaire was conducted to 126 workers who continued to work after the privatization of Yatağan Thermic Power Plant and associated mine. In addition to the questioner, two focus group meetings were held with the workers and indepth interviews were conducted with the heads of Tes-İş and Turkey’s Maden-İş Yatağan Branch. Contrary to the privatization literature’s findings, most of the employees stated that there was no change in wage levels and working conditions after privatization, thanks to the Yatağan resistance. Therefore, the Yatağan case indicates the importance of having strong trade union movement in preventing the erosions in worker’s rights and deteriorations in working conditions even after privatization.

  • The Interaction Between Securitization of Migration and Asylum: The
Political Considerations on the Rights of Asylum-Seekers in the Case of
           the EU-Turkish Joint Statement

    • Authors: Ahmet APAN
Abstract: Nowadays, hundreds of thousands of people have been trying to migrate to another country including the EU member states, and live a stable life without security concerns. However, the EU has increasingly reduced their opportunity and ability to seek international protection via strict policies. Securitization of migration results in a decrease in the number of asylum applications. The EU has been politically realistic considering its own interests in implementing measures to combat irregular migration with regard to the reduction of asylum applications. In this context, the EU Commission suggested that Turkey and the Western Balkan countries should be adopted as a “safe country of origin” in September 2015. In fact, this move aimed at reducing the number of applications, many of which had already been rejected. Although the persons who were subject to the EU-Turkey Joint Statement dated March 18, 2016, used to flee from the conflict zones in the different corners of the World, the EU treated them like irregular migrants and sent them back to Turkey. The Statement, which is the basis for the return of these persons, presents itself with various difficulties in terms of procedure and implementation.

  • A Communicative Turn of International Relations in the Context of the Arab
Uprisings: Social Media and the Rise of the Citizen 2.0

    • Authors: Feride Aslı ERGÜL JORGENSEN
Abstract: This article argues that one of the most important reasons of the pronounced inability of the International Relations discipline to adapt to the rapidly changing world is that the concept of communication remains marginal in the discipline. The article suggests that the limits can be overcome if more attention is given to the role of ordinary individuals, or citizen 2.0, who by means of social media increase their influence. In this context, it is important to understand that a change in communication technology implies not only the facilitation of communication methods but also vital changes in political and social structures. Notably, a fluid society emerges at local, (trans-)national and international levels, a society in which ordinary individuals gain the power of informing, influencing and activating societies. A discipline that aims at understanding "relations" among states should not remain indifferent to such changes. The article uses the case of the Arab Spring as a turning point, which is claimed to be the first time a social movement efficiently applied user-based communication tools. Analyzing the so far neglected communication theories and the empowered new citizen 2.0 within this perspective, will contribute to the empowerment of the discipline and make it more “up to date”

  • Kant and the French Revolution

    • Authors: Özkan AGTAŞ; Selbin YILMAZ
Abstract: The obvious contrast between his unfavourable remarks about the revolution and the right of resistance which he did not conceal and his uncompromising enthusiasm for the French Revolution despite his advancing age, has been occupied the minds of his followers and commentators since then. Furthermore, the historicalpolitical peculiarities (such as totalitarianism) behind this debate, which has been revived at various intervals from the 20th century to the present, have led to the emergence of an abundant but more complex conceptual ground. But what is aimed in this article is to focus on the interaction between Kant and the French Revolution rather than to exhaust all the moments of the discussion here in a single study. This alone will show how Kant, who witnessed the shocking events of the French Revolution, became integrated with the revolution, and more importantly, how the attribution between what he did in philosophy and what the revolution did in politics was getting stronger throughout the 1790s, the time when German thought became rapidly polarized and politicized. At this political climax of his philosophy, and under the influence of multiple pressures he was exposed to, Kant developed a complicated and, in some ways, tense interpretation of revolution. In this article, where we leave out his remarks on the revolution as a general concept and only focus on his texts in which he refer to the French Revolution directly or indirectly, we try to understand the dimensions of the interaction aforementioned.
