Authors:Maryam Zilaei Bouri, Hamid Agha-Alinejad, Shirin Zilaei Bouri, Saeed Daneshmandi Pages: 1 - 1 Abstract: Global warming and its effects on human health encourage the examination of the effect of resistance exercise and heat stress on cytokines production. The aim of this study was to investigate the interaction effect of resistance training and heat on the immune system of healthy active men. Six trained males (27.83±1.9 years, 86.45±10.3 kg) completed a 60-minute resistance exercise with 75% 1RM in two conditions (~25 °C, normal or ~35 °C, heat). The following were evaluated: LPS-stimulated cytokine production, plasma cytokine levels, and cortisol. The results showed that heat stress increased (P=0.027) plasma IL-6 and remained high after 1 hr (P=0.026). Upon stimulation with LPS, IL-6 cell production in heat and normal conditions increased immediately (PH=0.026; PN=0.048), decreased 1 hr after exercise, and returned to baseline (PH=0.005; PN=0.033). However, post-exercise LPS-TNF-α release decreased immediately only in a heated environment (P=0.029). The concentration of blood cortisol was unaffected by normal or heat conditions. The findings of this research suggest that other factors beyond cortisol regulated cytokines during heat-exposed exercise. Furthermore, the IL-6 had a regulatory function on TNF-α release. These cytokine changes showed that real work in similar temperatures did not negatively affect the immune system. PubDate: 2024-01-01 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.539321 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of neuromuscular taping on the pain intensity after eccentric activity. This was an experimental study with the design of a randomized post-test control group. The 14 samples obtained were then randomly divided into two groups. Neuromuscular taping treatment (NMT) was used before performing eccentric activities. The eccentric activity performed was shoulder flexion-elbow extension. After 24 hours of recovery, the pain intensity was measured using a visual analog scale. The results of the Mann Whitney u test showed that there was no significant difference in pain intensity (p ≥ 0.05). The conclusion of this study was that the neuromuscular taping after eccentric activity did not reduce the pain intensity after 24 hours of recovery. However, there was a tendency that the neuromuscular taping treatment group showed lower pain intensity so NMT decreased the pain intensity after eccentric activity. Authors:Mohamed Megahed, Zahraa Tarek Pages: 5 - 5 Abstract: Numerous controversies arose over the judgment of the racewalking events, and the rules were amended more than once. Before 1995, the rule required constant touch with the ground, and the need for a straight knee was only applied in the upright vertical posture. While, after 1995, the rule that applies today was published, which included two obvious changes. One related to maintaining a constantly straight knee through the first half of the stride, and the other to maintaining contact as seen by the human eye. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the last three modifications in racewalking rules on elite athletes' performance, athletes' eligibility, and nations' classification. Also, we investigated the regression between performance times of 20, and 50 km events and explanatory variables (BMI, and age). We collected data of 310 racewalkers from Olympic Games records (men) in 20km and 50km between 1956 and 2016. This period was divided into three stages according to the racewalking rules updates: Stage A (from 1996 to 2016), Stage B (from 1976 to 1992), and Stage C (from 1956 to 1972). There was a significant difference between all stages favoring stage A for Athlete’s Performance. Stage A has the highest speeds (4.06±.23m/sec) for 20km with large ES (η2=.54, p=.000), and (3.71±.06m/sec) for 50km with large ES (η2=.769, p=.000) compared to others. The participants had the efficiency and the ability to finish the race with the least percentage of withdrawals under the current rule compared to other rules. Some countries emerged on the scene, i.e. China, Poland and Ecuador, and others disappeared under the current rule; while the regression model's results revealed a substantial link between time and explanatory parameters where (BConstant=58.219, P.000) for 20km and (BConstant=164.744, P.000) for 50km. Results proved that the elite walkers, the youngest and lowest in BMI, are the fastest and most efficient walkers under the current rule. Authors:Paulo Reis Mourao Pages: 9 - 9 Abstract: This paper explored the potentiality of social networks analysis to discuss the industrial organization of Formula One since the 2000 season. We tested three major hypotheses related to the centrality of championship teams, their selectiveness when observing drivers’ moves, and the role of certain explicative attributes. There are oligopolistic elements in Formula One, with champions adopting high values of betweenness centrality, sending and receiving drivers from some other teams and opting to exchange drivers and resources from other teams with not-so-competitive scuderias. Formula One teams that win the Constructors’ Championship tend to assume central roles in the network of drivers’ moves. Despite their centrality, these winning teams are very selective regarding the origin of the drivers they want to contract. There are more chances of contractual ties between teams which are not significantly close in terms of ranks or budgets. PubDate: 2024-01-02 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.540441 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
Authors:Daniel Apaak, Christopher Akubah, Richard Samuel Kwadwo Abieraba Pages: 10 - 10 Abstract: Although there are athletic programmes at the senior high schools in the Upper East Region, the question is whether there are certain institutionalised programmes that help identify athletic talent and facilitate the development of student-athletes to the top of their athletic careers. This study was aimed at examining modes and challenges in sports talent identification in Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Upper East Region (UER) of Ghana. In this cross-sectional study, 203 sports coaches (100 men and 80 women sports coaches) in SHSs in the UER participated in the investigation. These group of individuals were chosen for the investigation since the core responsibility of identifying and developing sports talents lies with them. Data was collected using a questionnaire from which generalisation could be made about modes and challenges in sports talent identification. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages were calculated using SPSS version 25 (data analysis software). The results of the study revealed that the common mode of identifying talented student-athletes was through observation by coaches (90.6%). Also, limited financial resources (82.3%), judging coaches’ competence by their teams’ performance in competitions (73.9%), and early talent identification (69.0%) were identified as major challenges in sports talent identification. In conclusion, most coaches employ the natural selection method in identifying sports talents, therefore, many sports talents in Senior High Schools in Upper East Region are over looked because they are not currently participating in the sports. Adequate financial resources are not allocated for sports talent identification in SHSs in the UER and much focus is placed on winning SHS competitions to the detriment of recognizing the potential for future success in sports performance among student-athletes. This correlational descriptive study utilized the Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach through the smart PLS analysis application. The study comprised a sample of 121 athletes from various individual and group sports. The behavior of coaches’, in general, encompasses five variables: mental skill, coaching style, character building, nutrition knowledge, and coaching science. Motivation comprises intrinsic and extrinsic factors, while athletes' performance is determined by their qualities during training and physical test results. Data collection involved distributing questionnaires, supplemented by several interviews to bolster the research findings. The study's findings illustrated the R-squared determinant coefficients, indicating the significance of trainer behavior in athletes' performance, which stands at 0.696 (69.6%), and the impact of trainer behavior on motivation, recorded at 0.448 (44.8%). Among the variables tested, only one variable (character building) showed no discernible effect on athletes' performance (p > 0.05). Conversely, the remaining variables significantly influenced achievement motivation, athletes' performance, or mediated variables through achievement motivation to athlete performance (p < 0.05). These results are anticipated to serve as a guideline for coaches, emphasizing the pivotal role of coach quality in athletes' technical performance and overall achievement. Authors:Ardiah Juita, Tomoliyus, Awan Hariono, Syahriadi, Endang Rini Sukamti, Fauzi, Abdul Alim, Trisnar Adi Prabowo Pages: 12 - 12 Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between each variable of service quality and coach competency and their impact on the achievement of basketball athletes, with motivation acting as a mediating variable in this relationship. This study is a correlational descriptive study using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach with the help of smart PLS. The study comprised a sample of 100 basketball student-athletes from Riau province. Data collection involved the use of questionnaires; however, to complement this quantitative approach, interviews with athletes are still considered necessary as a qualitative method. The results revealed that the coach's competency significantly relates to the achievement, with a p-value of 0.004, the competency of the coach to the motivation with a p value of 0.000, the motivation to the achievement (p < 0.000), the quality of service to the achievement of (p < 0.001), the quality of service to the motivation (p < 0.003), the competency of the coach to the achievement of the motivation (< 0.000), the quality of service to the achievement of the motivation (p < 0.007). The quality of service and competence of basketball coaches has a strong relationship with the achievements of basketball athletes. Motivation also plays an important role as a mediating variable, demonstrating that the quality of service and the competence of basketball coaches can significantly enhance the achievement of student basketball athletes through motivation. It is expected that the results of this study can be used as a reference to coaches, sports academics, official basketball clubs, and related parties in basketball to pay more attention to the quality of service, especially training sites and competent coaches. Authors:Syahriadi, FX. Sugiyanto, Ria Lumintuarso, Ardiah Juita, Trisnar Adi Prabowo Pages: 13 - 13 Abstract: This study aimed at investigating groundstroke forehand exercise’s effect on improving tennis athletes’ cardiorespiratory endurance (VO2Max) for six weeks. This quasi-experiment research was carried out using a randomized pre-test and post-test group design. The population of this research was 35 tennis athletes aged 12-14 years old. Using purposive sampling, the sample in this study was 20 people, and the sample was taken based on 12-14-year-old tennis athletes who were technically good. The exercise was divided into seven models, namely forehand turn core, forehand turn cone back cone, forehand forward-direction, forehand hurdle jump, forehand sideways, forehand turn cone center service to baseline, forehand one-way service center to baseline. Those exercise models have earned a decent category for use in training. An instrument used for measuring cardiorespiratory endurance (VO2Max) was multistage (bleep test). The data analysis for this study comprised descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests such as normality and homogeneity checks, and the application of the sample paired t-test to test hypotheses. Based on the results, groundstroke forehand training can improve the cardiorespiratory (VO2Max) of tennis athletes aged 12-14 years old for six weeks (p<0.05) Thus, this research can be a basis for coaches and athletes to improve cardiorespiratory or VO2Max. Further research is expected that groundstroke forehand exercise can be combined with other techniques or used to analyze the ability of tennis athletes. Authors:Ali Mandan, Tomoliyus, Abdul Alim, Endang Rini Sukamti, Fauzi, Awan Hariono, Trisnar Adi Prabowo Pages: 14 - 14 Abstract: This study aimed at measuring service quality, family support, coach-athlete intimacy to student-athlete achievement performance through motivation as a mediator. This was a correlational descriptive study that utilized the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) approach with the assistance of Smart PLS. The researchers developed an instrument based on previous research data with a scale of 1–4. The subjects of this study were 125 Riau province student-athletes who will compete at POPNAS (National Student Sports Week) in Indonesia. Subjects consisted of 73 male athletes and 52 female athletes aged 15 ± 1.6 years. For data analysis, we used Smart PLS. The structural relationship model testing generated ten hypotheses. Among these, only the relationship between Coach-Athlete Intimacy and Achievement Performance showed a p-value of 0.532 > 0.05, indicating a lack of significant effect. However, the remaining nine hypotheses demonstrated a significant effect. The research model fulfills the fit model criteria, with data based on an SRMR (Standardized Root Mean Square) value of 0.064. The publication of this study anticipates improvements in service quality, family support, and nurturing coach-athlete relationships to enhance athlete motivation and achievement performance. Further research endeavors are essential to expand the sample size and explore additional variables influencing sports achievement. Authors:Trisnar Adi Prabowo, Endang Rini Sukamti, Fauzi, Tomoliyus, Awan Hariono Pages: 15 - 15 Abstract: This descriptive correlational study aimed at investigating the correlation between service quality and training safety, elucidating the significance of service quality in ensuring the safety of boxing athletes during their training. The study used a Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach. The data was collected from 220 boxers, averaging an age of 21±2.0 years and possessing an average training experience of 8±0.8 years. The data analysis in this research utilized the assistance of Smart PLS. Researchers categorized service quality variables into five distinct factors: tangible, empathy, reliability, responsiveness, and assurance. Safety variables were divided into two categories: health and comfort. This categorization resulted in a total of 25 indicators reflected in the questionnaire results. The outcomes of hypothesis testing indicate significant relationships: tangible and empathy factors significantly impact both health and comfort, while reliability and responsiveness notably influence comfort. Additionally, the factor of assurance demonstrates a substantial influence on health (p<0.05). However, there were observations where reliability and responsiveness did not exhibit a significant impact on health, and assurance did not significantly affect comfort (p>0.05). These instances suggest a lack of statistical relationship between the independent and dependent variables in these specific cases. The training facilities used by boxers must pay attention to the level of safety by improving the quality of service from the club or organization. The results of this research are expected to be a reference for sports practitioners, academics, facility owners or sports clubs, to pay more attention to service quality to increase safety when practicing. Further research is expected to ensure that training safety variables can be studied in more detail by developing special instruments and larger specific populations, especially combat sports. Authors:Juan Carlos Sanchez, Aduna Badiola Lekue, Valentina Viego, Estibaliz Romaratezabala Aldasoro Pages: 16 - 16 Abstract: Drawing upon a literature review concerning the diagnosis, description, and evaluation of local sports, we formulated and validated a precise measurement instrument intended for characterizing the municipal sports services in the province of Buenos Aires (PBA), Argentina. The objective of the present study was to design and validate a measurement instrument for the characterisation of the municipal sports services of the PBA. We conducted a content validation process in two phases. In the first phase, the initial preliminary version of the instrument was reviewed and assessed by a panel of five experts, with a follow-up and adaptation by the research team. Afterwards, the final measurement instrument was evaluated by an expanded panel of 12 experts, showing high validity indexes (Aiken's V = 0.93) with figures greater than 0.9 in the lower extreme confidence intervals. In the second phase, to assess the reliability of the measurement instrument, a pilot study was carried out with 10 municipal sports offices from the PBA. Correlation coefficients of the test and retest responses greater than 0.9 were obtained, reflecting a high level of stability in the answers of the officials. The validated tool is a useful and reliable resource for managers of municipal sports services to operate with updated technical knowledge in decision-making. The instrument could be useful for the provincial authorities of the area, as it would allow to have a georeferenced characterisation of the sports supply and guide the local governments in the decision about sports interventions and the monitoring of the public sports service. Abu Aloyoun, Orouba Dheeb Altarawneh, Qusai Basem Mohammad Alyasen Pages: 18 - 18 Abstract: This study aimed to identify some kinematic variables (distance between the feet, arm movement, punch speed, punch time, punch distance, ankle angle, knee angle, elbow angle, shoulder angle, pelvis angle) for the straight punch between two methods. The first method: performing a straight punch with the right hand towards the target without changing the distance between the feet and being on a straight line. The second method: performing a straight punch with the right hand towards the target without changing the distance between the feet, and the left foot is ahead of the right foot. A total of 8 amateur boxers in Jordan who were photographed using an iPhone camera at a frequency of 60 frames per second, participated in this study. The researchers downloaded videos on a computer (LAPTOP), which contains the Kinovea software (Kinovea. Setup.0.8.15.), and determined the best attempts for each player by watching the videos. Then, the researchers analyzed the attempts through the kinetic analysis program (Kinovea. Setup.0.8.15.) and extracted the study variables. The shorter the muscle contraction time of the straight punch, the greater the kinetic momentum and speed of the punch in both styles, and the greater the knee angle, the greater the punch and speed of the punch in both styles. Also, momentum and punch speed were better in the second method. We recommend a climatic and other clinical study of the straight stroke. We also recommend to use the second method in the straight punch. PubDate: 2024-01-14 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.517831 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
Authors:Ufuoma Vivian Arenyeka, Dorah Ataphia Akporehe, Ochuko Eric Nabofa Pages: 19 - 19 Abstract: School sports are beneficial to schools, communities and society as a whole in that they can prevent delinquent behaviours, force commitment to rules, promote social control and teach societal/school values, among others. Deriving these benefits of school sports requires the optimal performance of school sports managers, who teach physical and health education (PHE) as a subject, games masters, house masters, head teachers and seconded school coaches. In this literature review, the JD-R theory was used to explore the literature regarding several potential job demands and job resources within the school sports management environment and how these can be matched for the optimum performance and productivity of school sports managers. It was established that there is a need to identify all possible physical, psychological, social or organizational demands and resources in school sports management to achieve optimal performance in school sports management. The JD-R literature suggests that organizations need to offer employees sufficient job challenges and resources, including feedback, social support, and skill variety, for optimal productivity. Anis Zawawi, Puspodari Puspodari Pages: 20 - 20 Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of ladder drill 1 foot in each on the upper and lower extremities training carried out for 8 weeks on strength, speed, power, and agility. The type of the study was a quasi-experimental. Ladder drill exercises were carried out with an intensity of 80-90% HRmax, a frequency of 3x/week, for 8 weeks. Strength was measured using back and leg dynamometers, power was measured using the Force Plate/Accupower Test, speed with the 30-meter Running Speed Test, and agility with the Side Step Test. For statistical analysis, the researcher used the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21. The significance level was established at 0.05. The results of the analysis comparing pretest to posttest strength were as follows: strength pretest vs posttest (78.00±21.69 vs 122.10±22.16 seconds; p=0.000). For power, the comparison between pretest and posttest showed (42.40±11.92 vs 60.72±22.16 Joules; p=0.338). In terms of speed, the pretest vs posttest results were (5.13±0.24 vs 5.19±0.23 seconds; p=0.000), and for agility, the comparison between pretest and posttest revealed (15.00±4.35 vs 22.60±3.86 seconds; p=0.000). Executing ladder drill exercises at an intensity ranging from 80-90% of the maximum heart rate (HRmax), with a frequency of three times per week over an eight-week period, resulted in enhanced strength, speed, and agility among male junior high school students. Nevertheless, there was no notable impact observed in the power variable. PubDate: 2024-01-21 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.554801 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)

Authors:Amin Akbar, Zulakbal Abd Karim, Jaffry Zakaria, Thariq Khan Azizuddin Khan , Noorzaliza Osman Pages: 25 - 25 Abstract: Football is the most popular sport in Indonesia and involves thousands of players and millions of spectators. As the sport continues to grow, it demands an accelerated development of players and adjustments to their needs. However, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has created a curriculum that only focuses on the physical, tactical, and technical aspects, ignoring the psychological aspect. This study aimed to investigate the role of psychology in the development of football players in Indonesia, focusing on the weaknesses of the current curriculum. The study was concentrated on the development and psychological characteristics that soccer players under 17 years of age require to maintain their performance into adulthood. The study used a grounded theory approach and semi-structured open questions in data collection. The sample included youth player-coaches with a minimum of 5 years of experience, as well as football players under the age of 17. These players typically begin practicing football at the age of 6 and continue until they reach 17 years old in Indonesia. The results of this study can be a reference for the PSSI and football coaches in Indonesia to create a comprehensive training program that includes physical, technical, tactical, and psychological aspects, enabling them to develop successful football players in the future. PubDate: 2024-03-21 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.541481 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
PubDate: 2024-04-13 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.525531 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
Authors:Wei Wang, Elena Kozlova Pages: 28 - 28 Abstract: Recovery of an athlete after injury allows to achieve either the previous results or relatively equal. Moreover, the prescribed drugs or recovery exercises are offered in courses without the possibility of process adjustments. The relevance of the study is determined primarily by a large number of universal methods of restoration, if necessary, development of more patient-specific approach. The novelty of the study is determined by the fact that the human body is a dynamic system, the state of which is different at any time. The authors developed the idea of a stochastic process problem in the form of a system with a variable state, which can be utilized to generate a process, in order to build a technique for recognizing and predicting the state of dynamic systems. The authors showed that the dynamic system of the body can be considered not only as a process element, but also as a structure that allows to fully achieve recovery during the training period of athletes and their off-season indicators. The paper has developed a model that allows to predict the state of the dynamic system and harmonise the load and the recovery process of the athlete's body. The developed method for identifying and predicting the state of dynamical systems with the improvement of the method of covariance functions factorisation makes it possible to determine the main matrices of a dynamical system using the Riccati equation. Authors:Tang Xun Yang, Wei Wang, Elena Kozlova, Valentin Oleshko Pages: 29 - 29 Abstract: In the process of weightlifting, there is an increased load on both the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, and on individual parts of the nervous system. At the same time, special attention is paid to the possibilities of providing a stable body functioning after the cancellation of treatment course and the corresponding pharmacological support of athletes with treatment schedule or without it. The novelty of the study is determined by the need to ensure constant and stable work of the cardiovascular system. The authors note that this is possible both when the body performance indicators return to the level before injury, and in conditions of returning to original sports results. It is determined in the paper that the use of the instrumental model will make it possible to develop sustainable energy consumption and coordinate the balancing of loads on an athlete during the period of recovery after injury. Model formation is based on uniform signals in a correlated random process in a simulation model. The practical significance of the study is determined by the need to structure the training loads in the post-traumatic period. This reduces a number of physiological and psychological stresses on a person and allows increasing in the long term the loads that the athlete plans to utilise after returning to the sports sector. Authors:Alfredo Silva Pages: 31 - 31 Abstract: The objective of this study was to disentangle the relationships that exist between sporting success, sports consumption (i.e., sport participation, sport spectating and sport media viewing), national pride and subjective well-being. Data was collected from 374 respondents. Structural Equation Modelling was used to analyse the variables that were measured in accordance with previous studies. The model which centred on sports consumption showed a great explanatory capacity (73% and 43%). Sport participation was the factor with the highest impact on national pride and subjective well-being, even greater than the effects of sporting success and sport spectating. Another reason for the importance of citizens being physically active was noted. These results have managerial implications for sports policymakers and managers responsible for national teams and sport participation programmes. No evidence was found that higher levels of national pride directly affect subjective well-being. PubDate: 2024-04-17 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.549691 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)

Authors:Liza, Bafirman, Masrun, Y Touvan Juni Samodra, Mikkey Anggara Suganda, Muhamad Sazeli Rifki, Didi Suryadi, Ardo Okilanda, Danang Dwi Purwanto, Youssouf Haïdara Pages: 33 - 33 Abstract: Lower Back Pain (LBP) presents as discomfort in the lumbar region, leading to movement limitations. Addressing LBP requires specialized treatment to alleviate pain. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of combining deep tissue massage and stretching in healing low back pain injuries. This study adopted a pre-experimental design, employing a one-group pretest and posttest approach. The initial assessments (pretests) gauged LBP severity using VAS, Modified Schober Test, Fingertip to Floor, and ODI. Subsequently, a combination therapy of deep tissue massage and stretching is administered three times weekly over three weeks. Final assessments (posttest) are conducted. Participants, recruited from the LKP Rumah Sehat Mandiri clinic over the past five months, consisted of 20 individuals aged 20-60 years, sampled purposively. The study revealed significant improvements in pain, flexion, extension, right flexion, left flexion, and functional indicators following the combination therapy, with a significance value of 0.000, indicating a profound effect (p < 0.05). Notably, left flexion demonstrated a significance value of 0.001, further affirming the treatment's efficacy. The findings support the effectiveness of combining deep tissue massage and stretching in reducing LBP severity and promoting healing. Thus, this combined approach holds promise for managing LBP injuries effectively. PubDate: 2024-04-24 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.570621 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
Authors:Iryna Lutsenko, Oleksii Horpynych, Tetiana Hloba, Oleksandr Nesterenko, Hennadii Chykolba Pages: 34 - 34 Abstract: Over the past few years, the conditions under which Ukraine's development is taking place have been characterized by a number of changes and transformations. Undoubtedly, they were reflected in all social relations, including educational ones. Thus, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a full-scale war, from February 24, 2022, the educational process was organized in a distance format, which remains relevant to this day. At the same time, the correct selection of methods for teaching practical disciplines, such as physical education, which requires the student to use special tools and skills, is especially important. The aim of this study was to analyse qualitative approaches, on the basis of which it is possible to carry out professional training of students, including physical education, in current educational conditions. For this, the method of analysis and synthesis, comparison, deduction was used in the work. As a result, it was possible to reveal the main advantages and disadvantages of distance learning, namely the organization of physical education during it. In addition, priority tools were described, which were most often used by teachers during training sessions. It was also possible to analyse both positive and negative factors, which most affect the quality and dynamics of the educational process. It was important to form quality recommendations, related to increasing the effectiveness of teaching physical education in distance learning conditions. The practical value of the work is revealed in the fact that it can be used by educational workers during preparation for educational classes, as well as by students for independent work. This study used an experimental method where the sample is given treatment. The subjects in this study were 4th semester students of the STKIP Setiabudhi Sports Education study program. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling, so a sample of 40 students was obtained. The study was conducted for 14 meetings with a training frequency of twice a week. The sample was given treatment in the form of plyometric training to increase the explosive power of the sickle kick. The data obtained was analyzed using the SPSS version 26 application. The results of the comparison between plyometric and conventional exercises for low hand-foot coordination were reviewed. The study indicated that the value of Qcount = 12.96 exceeded Qtable = 4.90, or Qcount > Qtable, suggesting significant differences, with the plyometric exercise method proving superior to conventional exercise. Further, the results of the comparison of plyometric and conventional exercises were reviewed for high hand-foot coordination and the results showed that the value of Qcount = 6.65 was greater than Qtable = 4.90, or Qcount > Qtable, indicating significant differences favoring the plyometric exercise method over conventional exercise. The plyometric training method and the conventional training method have an influence on the explosive power of the sickle kick. However, the plyometric training method is more influential, effective, and good for the explosive power of the sickle kick than the conventional training method. However, studies regarding this issue are still limited and need to be conducted, especially related to sports. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to reveal the role of sporting events in shaping nationalism. We used the Mixed Method Research with a sequential exploratory design to understand the phenomenon of nationalism and sports in the biggest national sports event (PON). Twenty-four key informants and 365 respondents were involved in this study. Interviews, FGDs, documentation, and questionnaires were used to collect the data. Data analysis used ATLAS.ti and IBM SPSS programs. The results of the study found that the 20th PON in Papua (PON XX Papua), Indonesia, became a stimulus for the growth of nationalism among the indigenous Papuans (OAP). These sporting events also strengthened unity and togetherness and made society tolerant and open. This research proves that sporting events have eroded the sense of dual nationalism of OAP because, through sports, namely the choice of Papua as the host of the PON XX, OAP feels valued, cared for, and trusted by the State. Authors:Akhmad Sobarna, Edi Setiawan, Lalu Moh Yudha Isnaini, Farruh Ahmedov, Novri Gazali, Khairul Hafezad Abdullah Pages: 41 - 41 Abstract: This study examined the depiction of publication trends and the transformation of scholarly discourse within sports sociology publications. The investigation utilised the Scopus and WoS databases to compile a comprehensive list of sports sociology publications. Employing ScientoPy and VOSviewer, the study dynamically constructed science maps and visualisation networks. In the Scopus database, there were 516 publications, and in the WoS, 216, resulting in 732 publications, constituting 79.13% of the overall count between 1990 and 2022. Sports Sciences emerged as the predominant field with 119 publications, and the most prolific source title over the three decades was the International Review for the Sociology of Sport. The United States and Germany stood out as the top two countries, each contributing over 100 publications. The keyword “sports sociology” demonstrated close associations with “development,” “athlete,” and “physical education,” particularly evident since 2015. This study is poised to lay the groundwork for future endeavours to enrich and invigorate sports sociology research. Authors:Usman Wahyudi, Nurhasan Nurhasan, Nanik Indahwati Pages: 42 - 42 Abstract: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of a life-skills-based learning model on improving students' basic swimming skills to survive 60 minutes in water. This study used a pre-experimental method with a single-group pre-test-post-test study design. A total of 80 male and female students, aged 19-21 years, body mass index 19-24 kg/m2, normal blood pressure (110/70 – 120/80 mmHg), normal resting heart rate (60-80 bpm), did not have a history of chronic disease and then were divided into two groups. The intervention was carried out by providing a life skill-based swimming learning program with a training time of 60 minutes/for each meeting, and a frequency of 1x/week for 16 weeks. Data collection to measure the essential ability to swim to survive in water for 60 minutes was carried out before and after giving a life skill-based swimming learning program for 16 weeks using a test of surviving in water for 60 minutes with a score range between 3 to 60. The data analysis technique used an Independent Samples t-Test with a significant level of 5%. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the average score of the essential swimming ability to survive in water for 60 minutes between G1 with G2 at the observation point after the intervention (51.70±15.68 vs. 16.93±7.22 score, (p ≤ 0.001)), and delta (22.05±5.23 vs. 3.55±1.75 score, (p ≤ 0.001)). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the provision of a life skill-based swimming learning program can improve the basic ability to swim to survive in water for 60 minutes students compared to conventional swimming programs. Authors:Mustafa Ertan Tabuk Pages: 43 - 43 Abstract: As sports clubs' assets grow, their financial resources must be managed professionally. The aim of this study was to analyze all scientific publications between 2000 and 2020 and to make a holistic analysis of financial management in sports clubs using data obtained within the scope of the study. Information graphics and explanatory bibliometric networks were created. The study was conducted using the document analysis method in order to determine the current status of "financial management in sports clubs" among academic publications. The study identified the most frequently used keywords in publications, the most cited authors, and the most published journals, institutes, and countries. The most cited studies in the literature focus on non-profit organizations, resource capacity and use, management of financial results, management challenges related to human, financial, infrastructure and cultural resources, investment decisions in professional football and football clubs with strong financial capacity. It can be stated that the financial management of sports, both professional and amateur (non-profit organizations, sports development, and peace-oriented structures), focuses on the creation and use of resources. This article provides important information for decision-makers in the sports industry. PubDate: 2024-07-30 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.491131 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
Authors:Thais do Amaral Machado, Juarez Vieira do Nascimento, Mayara Juliana Paes, Gabriel Jungles Fernandes, Luciana da Silva Lirani, Joice Mara Facco Stefanello Pages: 44 - 44 Abstract: Self-efficacy determines the regulation of athletes' thinking patterns and how they will behave to achieve their goals in the face of adversity. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between volleyball self-efficacy and the performance efficacy of athletes from high-performance teams at distinct moments of the season. This descriptive correlational study included sixty-five athletes of both sexes (26.20 ± 5.51 years old) from four teams competing in the 2017/2018 Men's and Women's Superliga. The Volleyball Self-Efficacy Scale (VSES) measured athletes' self-efficacy, and notational analysis evaluated the efficacy of volleyball performance. The results showed strong or very strong self-efficacy in the game, defensive self-efficacy, offensive self-efficacy, and global self-efficacy, as well as relationships between defensive self-efficacy and defensive efficacy, and between offensive self-efficacy and offensive efficacy. The high-performance athletes across both variables investigated were partially susceptible to circumstantial issues inherent to the sport context, such as matches inside or outside home, with public for or against, with teams of different technical levels, with teams that have a history of confrontations with more wins or more defeats against their team. PubDate: 2024-07-31 DOI: 10.6018/sportk.527781 Issue No:Vol. 13 (2024)
