  • Traditional kite game as an effort to overcome stress for elementary
school students during the covid-19 pandemic

    • Authors: Indra Adi Budiman, Yudy Hendrayana, Davi Sofyan
      Pages: 1 - 9
Abstract: The purpose of this research is to carry out a traditional game, especially a kite, as an effort to overcome stress in elementary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Quantitative research with the type of survey research is carried out in this study. The sample in this study amounted to 10 students. The sample was selected based on being domiciled in a block whose houses were not far apart so that it was easy to condition them. The distribution of questionnaires and performing organized interviews with parents and kids make up the data collection process. In this study, the Lovibond and Lovibond DASS (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale) questionnaire 42 was utilized. Both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methodologies were used to analyze the data. The findings demonstrated that the scores obtained were based on DASS 42 from the circumstances before the test to overcome stress with kite flying and after. Before the trial, the stress value was 31.7, then after that, there was a decrease of around 16.7, which is in the range of 15. Thus, overcoming stress through the traditional kite game is considered quite successful for elementary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are limitations in this study because it is not able to describe the situations of students with a larger scope, different cultures, physical conditions, and urban play environments. Recommendations for further researchers to conduct research for students in overcoming stress against high pressure in the learning process through the form of methods, strategies, and other games.

  • Literature review: nutrition supplementation for muscle fatigue in
           athletes

    • Authors: Mardiana Mardiana, Apoina Kartini, Dwi Sutiningsih, Suroto Suroto, Muhammad Solihuddin Muhtar
      Pages: 10 - 23
Abstract: The use of natural or conventional-based supplementation has become a popular strategy among athletes seeking to reduce oxidative stress, improve recovery, and enhance athletic performance. This literature review searched four reputable international electronic databases, including PubMed, MedRxiv, Cochrane, and Clinical Trial.gov until December 2021, using Boolean operators with keywords and Mesh methods. The keywords used were "Supplementation", AND "Muscle Fatigue Recovery", AND "Athletes", which yielded 24 articles as study findings. The literature review found that exhaustive exercise can induce a neutrophil antioxidant response by increasing antioxidant enzymes. Nutritional supplements, specifically antioxidant supplements, Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA), citrulline, omega-3, and caffeine, have been scientifically proven to reduce oxidative damage, which can block signaling pathways related to muscle hypertrophy. In order to combat muscle fatigue in athletes based on this research (literature review), natural ingredients and synthetic nutritional supplements have been utilized as dietary interventions. This literature review identified numerous natural micronutrients and synthetic supplements used in sports that possess anti-fatigue properties, decrease oxidative stress and enhance athletes' endurance capacity. The effectiveness of nutritional supplements in addressing muscle fatigue may vary based on the various ingredients in the supplements. However, natural-based supplements have become a preferred option among athletes and coaches currently.

  • The impact of hexagon drill on the agility of junior men’s tennis
           players

    • Authors: Rivan Saghita Pratama, Teguh Santosa, Anggi Setia Lengkana, Fatkhul Imron, Wisnu Mahardika, Taufiq Hidayah
      Pages: 33 - 40
Abstract: The modern tennis games is characterized by an emphasis on quickness and strength. Rapid and multidirectional changes in the ball’s speed necessitate a high level of agility. This study aimed to determine the impact of hexagon drill training on the agility of male junior tennis players. This research is a quantitative type with experimental methods. The research design uses a one group pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study were junior male tennis players in Jawa Tengah with the sampling technique using purposive sampling. The characteristics of the sample determined by the researcher were male, athletes under 18 years of age, and practicing in the Jawa Tengah area. The number of samples used in the study was 40 people. Data analysis used the t-test by first carrying out the normality test and homogeneity test. The results of the data normality test in this study were 0.06 > 0.05 (0.06 greater than 0.05), which means that the data is normally distributed in the population frequency. The results of the homogeneity test in this study were 0.15 > 0.05 (0.15 greater than 0.05), which means the data is homogeneous. After the data is normally distributed and homogeneous, the researcher continues data processing, namely the t-test. The results of the t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 so it was less than 0.05 or 0.000 <0.05 so there was a significant effect. The conclusion is that the hexagon drill exercise has an effect on increasing agility in junior men's tennis players in Central Java. Suggestions from researchers are that coaches can apply hexagon drill exercises to train junior tennis players under the age of 18 years.

  • Periodization method of physical exercise for obese people

    • Authors: Chikih Chikih, Angelica Anggunadi
      Pages: 49 - 57
Abstract: During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC, stated that obesity prevalence increased by 52%. In Indonesia, the prevalence of obesity is 21.8%. Obesity triggers an increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines, which induces chronic inflammation both locally and systemically, which can cause health problems, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, metabolite syndrome, and an increased risk of infection. One of the components of obesity management is increasing physical activity. One of the domains of physical activity is exercise. Exercise with the appropriate frequency, duration, intensity, type, and periodization can influence cytokine modulation so that it can reduce systemic inflammation and increase physical fitness. This evidence-based case report (EBCR) aims to determine the type of exercise periodization in obesity management and its effect on health-related fitness. The process of searching for literature on EBCR uses the PRISMA method on 3 databases, namely: PubMed, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest. From the search results, it was found that the combination of endurance and strength training exercises with linear periodization 3 times a week, was found to be better in improving fitness in obese people. Linear periodization increases cardiopulmonary fitness with a relative mean difference of 17.8(0.3 to 35.3) %, maximal strength with 1 RM bench press and 1 RM leg press test also increased, and also reduce body fat percentage about 2.1(-4.8 to 0.5) %. Thus, the combination of strength and cardiorespiratory exercise with linear periodization gives a positive response to the components of health-related fitness in obese people.

  • The effect of isotonic drink on heart rates recovery after pencak silat
activity: a study on female students in an islamic boarding school

    • Authors: Hartono Hadjarati, Resa Sukardi Massa
      Pages: 58 - 65
Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of isotonic drinks on students’ heart rates. This experimental research relied on a randomized pretest–posttest control group design; it consisted of one control group (t1) and one treatment group (t2). All participants were treated with the same exercise protocol including endurance training specifically for the branches of pencak silat (exercise straight kick techniques, scythe while hitting). The control group consumed mineral water, while the treatment group was provided with an isotonic drink after exercise. Following the treatment phase was the calculation of participants’ heart rates for one minute; this process was replicated three times: before the exercise (T1), 60 to 90 minutes after the exercises (T2), and 10 minutes after the exercise interval (T3). All data were analyzed using a T-test. The results revealed that the initial heart rates of the control and treatment groups were 72.6 ± 10.36 and 66.3 ± 8.60, respectively.  In other words, there were no differences between the two groups. The initial heart rates of the control group control and treatment group after the exercise was 159.2 ± 10.48 and 149.0 ± 8.59, respectively. According to the t-test results, there was a difference (p < 0.05) in the heart rates of the control group and treatment group after the exercises. The initial heart rates of the control group control and treatment group after the exercise interval was 76.2 ± 11.0 and 65.9 ± 8.62, respectively. The t-test results reported a difference (p < 0.05) in the heart rates of the control group and treatment group after the exercise interval of 10 minutes. Isotonic drinks significantly to heart rates recovery after pencak silat exercise of female students.

  • The benefits of scuba diving for people with physical disabilities: a
           systematic review of the literature

    • Authors: Guntur Guntur, Muhamad Nanang Solikhin, Fauzi Fauzi, Mohd Izwan Bin Shahril, Norkhalid Bin Salimin
      Pages: 66 - 75
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to find out other benefits of scuba diving for persons with physical disabilities through a systematic literature review. The technique used in this research is a literature study. The literature analysis used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method. A total of seven articles were selected for review. A review of articles shows that diving can be treated as a multidimensional therapy in water, allowing people with and without disabilities to share activities together. Such rehabilitation involves comprehensive stimulation of the human body through social interaction through participation in class, influencing the mental and physical environment to regain awareness of one's own body and the movements one can perform, to feel one's own body position and the possibility of providing direction of motion and the benefits of increasing self-reliance in water. Utilization the aquatic environment allows muscle relaxation, which, as a result, can have a positive effect on spasticity and often increase the very limited range of motion of joints in a natural environment allowing increased movement and coordination in a much easier manner than in a terrestrial environment. A person who scuba dives could learn and demonstrate independence by keeping himself safe, as well as the safety of his colleagues. Diving encourages a person to spend time with other people and, as such, provides an opportunity to be in a group whose members include people without disabilities, as well as people with locomotor system dysfunction, providing a sense of affiliation with the group and responsibility for it. members and create a positive mental state.

Abstract: Motoric competence is a competency that requires understanding in carrying out physical activities. However, in the learning process motor competence is carried out without the support of understanding so that it results in students experiencing difficulties and confusion in executing the motor skills they have when in a different environment during training or learning. The research aims to measure the success of stimulation of motor competence by using the field games approach. The research was conducted in the pre-experimental type with the One Group Pretest Posttest Designs type. The experiment was conducted on twelve elementary school students in fourteen meetings. The research involved twelve fourth grade elementary school students who were taken randomly by selecting numbers at random. The instrument for measuring students' motor skills used the Test of Gross Motor Development revision 2 edition (TGMD-2) and understanding of playing using the Games Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) and the measurement results were analyzed using a quantitative descriptive method. The results showed that there had been an increase in the rating of students' motor skills and the average score of students' games performance. This result is due to the learning that is carried out using the field games approach which is able to encourage students to be active in making movements and facilitating metacognition processes such as decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The conclusion of learning done with the field games approach can stimulate students' motor competence

      Pages: 87 - 94
Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of giving three different exercise methods (Plyometric, SAQ, and Traning Circuit) on increasing leg muscle power and dolyo chagi kick speed in taekwondo athletes. The research design used pre and post design with a total of 18 Unesa student taekwondo athletes as research subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups (PLY, SAQ, and ST) consisting of 6 athletes each. The PLY group performs plyometric; The SAQ group performs Speed, Agility, and Quickness; and the ST Group performs circuit training. Interventions were given to each group with 18 meetings with a frequency of 3 times each week. Data analysis using manova test assisted with R studio software. The results of this study showed that the average value of the increase in leg power and kick speed was the highest in the SAQ group respectively 2.95±2.40 watts and 1.30±0.80 m/s. The manova test showed a p value of 0.1239 which means that there is no significant difference from the three training methods to leg power and kick speed. In conclusion, plyomeric training methods, SAQ, and training circuits can increase dolyo chagi leg power and kick speed in taekwondo athletes, but there is no significant difference in the improvement.

      Pages: 95 - 103
Abstract: Physical literacy has four components, one of which is the physical component. Increasing the physical component requires learning strategies implemented through physical education, one of which is the traditional Lombok game, which is an effective learning process for children. This research aims to test the effectiveness of traditional Lombok games in increasing physical literacy in elementary school students. This study used the Quasi Experimental Design research method (pretest and posttest control group design) involving 66 class IV students. It consists of two groups, namely, the control group and the intervention group. The intervention group (n = 33; 50% boys and girls) received a weekly 60-minute Lombok traditional game session provided by a local instructor trained in child care, whereas the control group (n = 33; 50% boys and women) received no additional treatment.Components of children's physical literacy were assessed using the PLAYbasic instrument before and after treatment. The results of the PL assessment of the pre-test control group were 42.7 in the Emarging category, the post-test was 45.5 in the Emarging category, while in the experimental group the pre-test was 45.6 in the Emarging category and the post-test was 65.1 in the Competent category, there was an increase in the experimental group. The experimental group using traditional Lombok games had a better level of physical literacy or the Competent category than the control group. While the results of data analysis from the study showed the output of the Independent Samples Test, the Sig value was obtained. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05.Thus, the traditional Lombok games for grade IV students aged 9 years have a significant influence. Based on these results, it shows the importance of traditional Lombok game interventions that can provide benefits for developing and increasing appropriate physical literacy in later life.

Abstract: Fencing is a sport that requires a maximum physical component so that in this study the aim was to test and find out the effect of variations in stair climbing exercises in improving floret/foil balestra fencing weapons. This study used a test-experiment with the research design "Single-Group Pretest-Posttest Design". The research sample consisted of 20 people, coming from students (elective course (MKP) Fencing) of a state university in eastern Indonesia (male and female) who were then divided into training groups through random sampling technique. The balestra fence measurement tool for floret/foil type weapons uses the Kuhadja fencing skills test. Pretest and posttest results were analyzed using the influence test (t-test). The research location is at the Football Stadium (a stadium grandstand with 25 steps). Results; 1) there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest groups with the various stair climbing exercises towards increasing the ability to balestra floret fencing weapons. 2) There is a significant difference between the posttest (after treatment) of varied stair climbing training and the control group in increasing the ability to balestra floret fencing weapons. We estimate that this increase is the result of increased leg muscle strength, speed, and explosive power obtained through varied stair climbing exercises.
