  • Anxiety and athlete performance: a systematic narrative review of the
           mutual influence of these concepts

    • Abstract: PurposeThis systematic review was designed to assess the existence of a potential bidirectional relationship between competitive anxiety and sport performance among professional athletes. Psychotherapists believe that the relationship between these 2 parameters can be directly proportional and, moreover, can go both ways, as they have systematically observed in the general population.MethodsFor this purpose, a number of 45 descriptive studies were selected from the cybernetic literature to estimate the level of anxiety in competitive athletes, the variables that may influence this parameter and the level of performance achieved as a result. Without therapeutic intervention, anxiety parameters and its covariates were assessed to detect the influence on sport performance and predict the outcome of a competition based on these concepts.ResultsThe systematic review of these studies revealed that competitive anxiety has a major and statistically significant influence on the competitive situation a an athlete, having an important action on their career in the short and long term.ConclusionsThis analysis has succeeded in demonstrating that a certain degree of anxiety, within the limits imposed by the game experience and through fine psychological mechanisms, can become an asset in terms of achieving the chosen goal in the athlete’s career.

  • Development of the body scheme in children in primary education: a
           systematic narrative review of the influence of an intervention plan on
           this psychomotor component

    • Abstract: AimThe purpose of this review is to summarize the scientific literature that examined the importance of physical activity programs in the development of body scheme in primary school students by identifying methods and tests used to test body scheme on motor development, spatial-temporal orientation and coordination.MethodUsing the electronic databases Research Gate and Web of Science, we searched for articles using key words, including terms related to methods, intervention plan, children’s age and body schemes. We selected only those that followed the influences of an intervention plan on children.ResultsWe selected 30 articles regarding the development of the body scheme, the spatial-temporal orientation and the coordination through an activity plan. The study results in the three categories show a significant influence on body scheme, spatial orientation and coordination. Following the tests applied and the results obtained, we can say that a well-structured program of physical activity influences the child’s development in terms of body scheme. If it is correctly integrated, one can avoid the existence of body diagram disorders that are quite common for children.ConclusionThe harmonious physical development of the child is influenced by a program of physical activity. Early participation in these programs is recomended in order to avoid disorders of body scheme.

  • Factors Predisposing to Weight Gain in Young Adults during COVID-19 Home
           Confinement

    • Abstract: IntroductionHome confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the physical activity level and exacerbated other unhealthy behaviours such as vices and eating disorders. This study analyses the risk factors predisposing to weight gain in young adults during COVID-19 home confinement.Material and methodFour hundred thirty-three students, aged between 19 and 25, participated in an online survey to understand the factors associated with weight gain. The following lifestyle dimensions were investigated in a regression model: physical activity, personal experiences, occupation, risk of vices.ResultsWe have found significant associations between weight gain (as a dependent variable), and frequency of physical activity (p = 0.009), occupational performance (p = 0.002), and alcohol consumption (p = 0.002). Male respondents are more likely to have gained weight during isolation. For an increase of one unit in the frequency of playing sports, we expect an odd of 0.25 (p = 0.048) for the respondents’ weight loss. Moreover, if the occupational performance increases by one unit, a weight decrease by a rate of 0.52 (p =0.02) is expected.ConclusionIn conclusion, young adults less engaged in physical activity, who assessed their occupational performance as lower, and who consumed alcohol more often during home confinement are the most likely to have gained weight.

  • The Use of Digital Technologies in the Physical Education Lesson: A
           Systematic Analysis of Scientific Literature

    • Abstract: IntroductionThe development and diversification of digital technologies in modern era has got a tremendous influence in the field of Physical Education too.This research‘s purpose is to examine the previous studies conducted upon the usage of these diverse digital technologies in the instructive and educational process for the subject of Physical Education.MethodsSix electronic databases have been used to select the articles that include the usage of digital technologies for the Physical Education school subject. After applying the exclusion criteria, there have been selected and evaluated 26 scientific articles indexed during the years 2015 – 2016.ResultsWe can notice that the worldwide technology evolution has contributed to the progressive growth of research regarding the usage of digital technologies even for the field of Physical Education. It was established that the technologies used for the lessons can improve the motor or moving skills and can improve the students motivational level for the Physical Education lessons. The current research also shows that digital technologies can be regarded as a way to involve students in cooperating with their peers. Important studies also refer to investigating the effects that short videos have upon the instructive and educational process itself as well as upon the students evaluation during the Physical Education classes. Using digital technologies (iPads, smartphones, tablets, audio players, computers and apps) doesn’t necessarily involves giving up to the traditional methods, but furthermore, using them simultaneously, can improve the entire learning process, increasing the quality of the lessons and attracting the students towards the Physical Education classes. The article also presents some barriers that can appear in the process of integrating these digital technologies into the lessons. We notice that combining more learning methods of teaching (the reverse learning method with different games, learning by following instructions given with the help of augmented reality, integrating different ways of playing) in the course of Physical Education can bring benefits upon the motor abilities or movements performed by students.ConclusionsIn most of the studies that were analysed it can be noticed that positive results in the instructive and educational process were obtained in regard of improving the motor skills, the students learning abilities and motivation as a result of merging and integrating different digital technologies in the Physical Education classes.

  • The impact of home office setup due to COVID-19 pandemic on IT
           professionals′ physical health: a systematic review

    • Abstract: IntroductionThe COVID-19 pandemic represented a great reset in terms of how we work; it affected all organizational levels and brought up unexpected challenges, forcing a lot of workers to shift into working from home. A home office may not be suitable for IT professionals as it is not usually designed ergonomically for long-term use. This study aimed to explore the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on IT professionals’ physical health who hypothetically deal with non-ergonomic workstations at home and with modified workloads.Material and methodThe research was conducted based on PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes) methodology. The scientific material was selected through a search in PubMed, Scopus, Clarivate Analytics, and Google Scholar databases; the eligible studies were published in 2020 and 2021, involved IT professionals who shifted to home office due to the COVID-19 pandemic and analysed the physical health issues related to these changes.ResultsPhysical health outcomes as neck pain and other musculoskeletal complaints, along with increased stress and anxiety, as mental issues, were reported in most of the participants interviewed in the selected studies; the musculoskeletal complaints were strongly influenced by the unexpected changes that came along with working from home in terms of workload and workstations. On the other hand, having a room dedicated to professional activities, an ergonomic workstation, knowing how to adjust the workstation, and increased satisfaction with indoor environmental quality factors in the workspaces were associated with a lower chance of developing new health problems during this period.ConclusionThe present study confirms that in the case of IT professionals there is a strong association between working from home, poor ergonomic workstations and high prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints, and, especially, an increased occurrence of neck pain.

  • Defensive vs offensive style on clay courts

    • Abstract: IntroductionIn tennis, knowledge of the characteristics of different playing styles is essential to achieve the desired results and to improve specialized technical-tactical procedures according to the playing surface on which the match is played, together with the individual and opponents’ peculiarities.PurposeAdopting a style of play that is suited to the individual characteristics of the player, the opponent and the characteristics of the playing surface can improve the chances of winning for the player who is mostly on the defensive. This comparative study aims to highlight the differences between the two players in a tournament on a slow surface, using the chosen methods and means.MethodsThe main research method was the method of analysing the 6 matches using different statistical indices. In doing so, the average results of all 6 matches played by the two players up to the final were compared with the results of the statistical indices of the final match. For this study we have selected the main indices for the topic.ResultsThe results of the study showed that a defensive player spends more time on the court during a tournament. With the help of data analysis and recordings, it can be observed that the offensive or defensive player stands out according to the studied parameters. Some parameters are specific to a style of play. Also, a defensive player with good speed and agility can adapt more easily on a slow surface (clay).ConclusionsThe playing surface can negatively affect the results obtained in major tournaments if the emphasis in training is not placed on developing a game adapted to individual characteristics. Also, the player who can adapt during the match has a better chance of winning a Grand Slam tournament.

  • Relationship between lower limb power and dynamic stability in volleball
           players

    • Abstract: IntroductionAs in all team sports, lower limb power is an important quality of any player. Especially when it comes to volleyball, a game that relies on jumping performance on almost every action except reception. Another crucially important quality of the lower limbs is dynamic stability. Without the latter, the frequency of injuries rises, and that is something any coach or player wants to avoid. The question arises: Are the two qualities related'AimThe study aimed to investigate the correlation between lower limb power and force measured using an inertial flywheel training/measuring device and dynamic stability evaluated through the Y balance test.Material and methodThe Y balance test was used for evaluating the lower limb dynamic stability of 8 Romanian volleyball players. In addition, using an inertial flywheel training system (kBox 4 Pro, Exxentric, Sweden) and kMeter II measuring device the following parameters where measured: average force AvF (N), average power AvP (W), concentric peak power ConPP (W), eccentric peak power EccPP(W). The relative peak power RPP (W/kg) was calculated by dividing concentric peak power by the weight of the volleyball player. The subjects performed 8 maximal squats using the kBox harness and the L (0,05 kgm2) flywheelResultsComposite reach distance (CRD) means for the lower limbs have been compared using the t-test and although there is a difference of 1.8%, it isn’t significant, (p<0,001). We have found a direct correlation between the average composite reach distance and relative peak power (r=0.71, p=0.045) and also with the average power (r=0.75, p=0.032) of the lower limbs. The composite reach distance for the right leg correlates with the relative peak power (r=0.73, p=0.036); average force (r=0.73, p=0.039), and average power (r=0.77, p=0.024). For the left leg, however, the only correlation found with the CRD is the average power (r=0.75, p=0.044).ConclusionsThe medium composite reach distance CRDM is directly correlated with the average lower limb power and relative peak power but due to the small sample size, the power of this effect is unknown. CRDR (right leg) significantly correlates with relative peak power, average power but also with average force whereas CRDL (left leg) only correlates with average power. This does not come as a surprise because all the subjects are right side dominant. There is no significant difference between CRDR and CRDL p<0.001. This is quite important because stability asymmetries of the lower limbs may lead to injury.

  • Effectiveness of physical exercise for improving static and dynamic
           balance in patients with osteoporosis

    • Abstract: BackgroundOsteoporosis is a metabolic disease widely spread both worldwide and in our country, being a major public health problem, with serious social and psychological consequences, by the huge costs involved, as well as by its high morbidity.AimWe intend to prove the effectiveness of using physical exercise for improving static and dynamic balance in patients with osteoporosis.MethodsOur research includes 8 women aged between 50 and 70 years, diagnosed with postmenopausal osteoporosis. The patients were evaluated before and one month after the physical exercise program, using the “Timed Up and Go” Test and the Berg Balance Scale.ResultsAll patients included in this research experienced improvements in postural stability, static and dynamic balance.ConclusionsAfter performing a one-month program of specific physical exercise, with a frequency of 3-4 times a week, the risk of falls decreases, increasing the static and dynamic balance.

  • Improving muscle size with Weider’s principle of progressive overload in
           non-performance athletes

    • Abstract: IntroductionThe concept of progressive overload is one of the most well known and well understood principles in strength training around athletes. To gain muscle mass, this principle consists of progress in weight, number of repetitions, frequency and sets.AimAlthough it is a widely used principle, trough our study, we wanted to ascertain if, after training sessions applying Weider’s principle of progressive loading (PPO), we can highlight significant increases in some muscle groups (chest Mc, and back Mb ), in non-performance subjects.Materials and methodsOne sample (N= 8 subjects, 8 men, with a mean age of 20.4 ± 0.74 years), trained for 12 weeks with a frequency of 4 workouts per week, in a sports center from Arad county. Muscle perimeters were measured using a metric band. Subjects underwent bodybuilding-specific training with a predominant focus on PPO. Measurements of the pectoral muscle (Mc) and back muscle (Mb) were carried out in two stages: an initial test (Ci, Bi ) and a final test (Cf, Bf), to see at the end of the experiment, if there are improvements.ResultsAfter 12 weeks of training, the final results indicate an increase of the average of both chest and back muscles (Ci 102.6, Cf 107.4 and Bi 109.6, Bf 113.8). Although the values of the T-test, at both groups, are identical, it seems that the PPO effective size (ω2) is larger in the back (14%) compared to the chest (12%).ConclusionWithin the limits of our experiment, we consider that by only using the PPO, significant improvements can be obtained on the targeted muscle groups.

  • Study on the health status of students in higher medical education

    • Abstract: IntroductionThe health benefits of regular physical activity are clear. More students should engage in physical activity every day of the week. Participating in physical activity from the sport lessons is very safe for most students.AimIn this study we want to ascertain the health status of the students at the beginning of the academic year, in order to have a more efficient didactic design and to identify the possible medical conditions that can generate health risks during physical exercises.MethodsThe study was performed using the PARQ+ questionnaire (The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) and body mass index. These were applied to a number of 235 subjects, students in higher medical education.ResultsThe results showed that 71.07% of the students have no health problems and are fit for physical effort, and 28.93% of them were identified with various activity-limiting medical conditions. The results obtained by calculating the BMI show us that 69.79% of the subjects are in the normal weight category.ConclusionIn conclusion, for most students, physical activity does not involve any risk. Taking into account the high percentage of those with different conditions, knowing the health status of students should represent an important milestone in the activity of teachers, and help them eliminate the risk factors. Thus, almost 3 out of 10 students should check with a doctor about the risks associated with exercising before they begin to become more physically active.

  • The instructive - educational model for 4-6 years old alpine skiers.
           Selection and physical training

    • Abstract: BackgroundIn alpine skiing, physical training can start at an early age, from 4 to 6 years old, an age that can play an important role in the further development of future athletes. Specific movements of physical exercise, such as walking, running, jumping, throwing, climbing, swimming, dancing, skiing, etc., can be performed by preschoolers without excessive physical stress, developing their skills and gradually preparing them for performance. This stage of childhood offers the best opportunities for acquiring new motor skills. The scientific approach started from the finding that, although the ski training of children is possible and recommended at preschool age, however, following the analysis of the literature, a lack of teaching methodology for this age group can be found, both at the national and international level.AimThe paper aims to propose an educational model specific to this age group, which can be used in teaching the discipline of alpine skiing, in sports clubs and associations or instructor associations.MethodsThe study is based on the modeling method, applied to the physical training activity, also considering the psychomotor features specific to the preschool child. The proposed methodology contains tests and testing standards aiming the general physical training of the children.ResultsThe objectives pursued by applying this model consist in forming or developing both general and specific motor qualities, as well as educating the coordinative capacities. By applying this instructive-educational model in the physical training of preschooler children, an increase of their sports performance was demonstrated, which is verified by the results obtained at national competitions, intended for the specific categories of their age.ConclusionsThe model of the alpine skier for this age must consider the particularities specific to the age, and the learning methods must be adequate, rational and flexible, to ensure an easy learning, assimilable to playing activities.

  • The role of preoperative kinetic physical treatment in patients with
           complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament

    • Abstract: IntroductionThe present research has highlighted the role of preoperative kinetic physical therapy in patients with complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.Material and methodThe study took place at the Fizionova Medical Recovery Center in Târgu Mureș, for 12 weeks, between November 2020 and March 2021, on a sample of 20 subjects, aged between 21 and 45 years. The inclusion criterion was the anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery. The research methods were largely experimental. Statistical analysis included elements of descriptive statistics (mean, median, standard deviation) and elements of inferential statistics. The Shapiro-Wilk test was applied to determine the distribution of the analyzed data series. For the comparison of means, the t-Student test for unpaired data was applied. For the comparison of medians, the Mann-Whitney test was applied for unpaired data.ResultsThe experimental group regained its knee flexion degrees earlier than the control group following the preoperative kinetic physical treatment.ConclusionOur investigation concluded that immediate postoperative recovery has significant importance on the knee’s functionality, which is much more challenging to recover in case of prolonged immobilization.

  • A systematic review of integrated machine learning in posture recognition

    • Abstract: IntroductionPosture detection is used in various situations such as medical care, surveillance, virtual environment, indoor monitoring, virtual reality for animations and entertainment. The concept of machine learning has experienced great progress in the last two decades, from a curiosity started in the laboratory to a widespread practical technology for commercial use.ObjectiveThe aim of this paper is to review the literature on the use of machine learning algorithms in the medical field for posture recognition.Material and methodArticles were collected from the following databases: Google Scholar, Science Direct, PubMed and Research Gate. We included only articles that were written in English, those that were available for download in full text, published after 2010, the year in which the industrialization of the idea of artificial learning began. Articles that did not assess or recognize the posture deficiencies were excluded.ResultsA total of 55 articles were eligible for the study. Following the inclusion criteria, and after sorting, using the exclusion criteria, a number of 16 articles remained to be analyzed, presented and discussed.ConclusionsAfter the analysis of the articles included in this study, it can be concluded that using machine learning we can obtain very good results with high accuracy for posture recognition.

  • Discovering the anxiety level of a basketball team using the SCAT
           questionnaire

    • Abstract: BackgroundThe level of anxiety can influence the performance obtained by the group and can also affect the communication and cohesion of the team. Recent studies proved that a high level of anxiety could lead to failure in sports performance and disturbance in group relationships.AimThe study aimed to analyze and reduce the level of anxiety in a basketball team U18 of CSM Medias, following the idea that reducing the personal anxiety level of each player can lead to better group cohesion and performance.MethodsThe research methods used in our experiment were the SCAT questionnaire and psychological therapy, that analyzed the level of anxiety in sports competition.ResultsThe results of the investigation showed that after discovering the initial level of anxiety (22.42), using the SCAT questionnaire, and by performing several sessions of psychological therapy and group therapy, we managed to reduce the anxiety level at the final examination (20.83). Also, we achieved an improvement in group cohesion and communicational level.ConclusionsAnxiety level can affect group performance and team results; our study highlighted the idea that the early discovery of malfunction in group collaboration and also in individual anxiety levels can lead to better team performance and also improve the cohesion and communication level.

  • Efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training in improving symptoms of urinary
           incontinence and health related quality of life among parous and
           nulliparous women

    • Abstract: ObjectivesTo compare pelvic floor muscle strength, severity of urinary incontinence symptoms and health related quality of life between parous and nulliparous women; and to investigate the efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training in improving symptoms of urinary incontinence and health related quality of life in the previously mentioned two groups.Materials and methodsInitially, 67 women were included in the study. Pelvic floor muscle strength and endurance were evaluated pre-treatment using the Pelvic floor exerciser. Participants were assessed before and after 10 weeks of pelvic floor muscle training by using The International Consultation of Incontinence Questionnaire – Short Form for symptoms severity, and The King’s Health Questionnaire for health related quality of life.ResultsThe final sample included 32 participants: sixteen parous and sixteen nulliparous women between 18 and 50 years of age. Before the intervention, parous women (75%) were 2 times more likely to report urinary incontinence than nulliparous women (37.5%). They also had significantly lower pelvic floor muscle strength (p=.001), pelvic floor muscle endurance (p=.001), and more severe symptoms related to urinary incontinence (p=.009). Additionally, parous women had poorer disease specific quality of life in all domains. After the intervention, symptoms severity scores decreased significantly among both parous (p=.007) and nulliparous women (p=.038). Regarding quality of life, both groups had major improvements in all domains.ConclusionsOur results suggest that urinary incontinence is more common among parous women. They experience more severe symptoms and have lower health related quality of life. Additionally, pelvic floor muscle training seems to be effective for improving symptoms of urinary incontinence and health related quality of life among both parous and nulliparous women.

  • Back pain secondary to idiopathic scoliosis in adolescents

    • Abstract: IntroductionBack pain in adolescents has become an increasingly common cause of presenting oneself for examination at the medical recovery service for diagnosis and appropriate therapeutic conduct, sometimes being the first and only symptom present.PurposeWe conducted a retrospective study that took into consideration the quantification of the number of adolescents suffering from back pain secondary to idiopathic scoliotic deviation for a 3-year period, and the identification of favoring/determining factors of this pathology, as well as highlighting the importance of the rehabilitation treatment applied to them.Methods67 adolescents with back pain secondary to idiopathic scoliosis participated in medical rehabilitation programs of 10 daily sessions, every 6 months in the Medical Rehabilitation Department of the “Louis Țurcanu” Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children in Timișoara for a period of 12 months (from 02.2019 to 01.2020) and daily at home - individualized/adapted exercise programme.ResultsWe emphasize the importance of the medical rehabilitation team in the management of back pain secondary to idiopathic scoliosis in adolescents, and the identification and fight against the factors that favor it.ConclusionsPhysical exercise must be performed on the long-term; it must be started as soon as the condition is diagnosed, with periodic evaluations and its periodic adjustment according to results and disease evolution.

  • Kinematic analysis of the spine and hip for the “Danilova”
           artistic gymnastics element

    • Abstract: IntroductionWomen’s artistic gymnastics is a sport that has experienced a continuous evolution over the years, both from a technical point of view and from the point of view of the correctness of the executions. Flexibility, strength, dexterity, and many other motor qualities are present in this sport. Danilova or “free (aerial) walkover forward” is an acrobatic flight element in artistic gymnastics. This element can be executed both on the floor and on the balance beam, but most frequently on the beam, being an element of difficulty D (0.4 points).Material and methods13 artistic gymnasts, components of junior and senior Romanian Olympic teams (age: 14 ± 1.93 years, height: 149.35 ± 7.94 cm, weight: 40.01 ± 7.41 kg) were recruited for the study. The gymnasts performed the free (aerial) walkover forward (Danilova) element on the floor. To record the element for obtaining the three-dimensional kinematic data analysis, gymnasts have been equipped with a multiple sensor suit. Data collection consisted of gathering data simultaneously from all 17 sensors. In order to get accurate data regarding the range of motion in joint angles, motion trackers were positioned on segments, in special locations.ResultsOur data show that during the final phase of the execution of the free (aerial) walkover forward element, all gymnasts presented the extension of the spinal column, at two different moments: i) when the foot comes in contact with the ground, in the landing phase and ii) when lifting the torso in the final stage of the landing phase, respectively. Our results revealed that the second extension is significantly greater than the first one in all gymnasts (maximal spinal extension (M.S.E.): -46.76 ± 2.521) vs. spinal extension at foot contact (S.E.F.C.)-39.32 ± 2.309, p<0.05). The data analysis showed that there is no correlation between the S.E.F.C and the length of the Danilova element. The hip joint angle was in moderate positive correlation with the M.S.E. (Pearson r= 0.5808, R2= 0.3374), but not with the S.E.F.C. (Pearson r= -0.304, R2= 0.09243). The completion of the element is the result of either mobility of the spine or compensation due to hip extension. The length of the Danilova element was not found to be correlated with neither of the parameters (hip extension S.E.F.C, M.S.E.). A lower degree of mobility of the lumbar area is not an impediment in performing an accurate Danilova element, some gymnasts being able to perform a significantly shorter element (the found length range of the Danilova element within the study group is 0.94-1.43 m).ConclusionA good performance of free (aerial) walkover forward is possible either in the case of increased mobility at the level of the lumbar spine or, with the help of compensation in the mobility of the hip joint. The secondary spinal extension is presented as a cofactor with an assistance role during the stage of returning to the initial position.

  • The benefits of the TECAR therapy in flexion recovery after revision of
           the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)

    • Abstract: PurposeThe following research highlighted the importance of the TECAR therapy in recovering after anterior cruciate ligament surgery in performance athletes.MethodsThe study took place at Fizionova Medical Recovery Center in Targu Mures, on a period of 6 weeks between 24.01.2020 and 07.03.2020, on a sample of 10 subjects with anterior cruciate ligament surgery (5 subjects in the experiment group that followed the TECAR recovery program and 5 subjects that only followed a physiotherapy program for recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery), 7 male subjects and 3 female subjects with ages between 24 and 44 years. The research method was mostly experimental. We worked with TECAR therapy, muscular electrostimulation, and a series of kinesiotherapy exercises. For the statistical interpretation, we used the GraphPad Prism program using the Shapiro-Wilk test, t-Student test, Mann-Whitney, and Wilcoxon tests.ResultsThe results of the investigation showed statistically significant differences between the experiment and control group after 4 and 6 weeks of a TECAR and kinesiotherapy recovery program.ConclusionsThe conclusions of our investigation highlighted the importance of implementing a supplementary kinesiotherapy program using the TECAR therapy in athletes who recover from anterior cruciate ligament surgery.

  • Being a student at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in
           COVID-19 Pandemic times - A moment in life

    • Abstract: Introduction: The COVID-19 Pandemic started in December 2019 in China and it affected millions of people, forcing them to radically change their lifestyle.Aim: Thus, the idea of starting a study that evaluates the effects of the online media transfer on the life routine of PESF-WUT students was outlined, becoming the purpose of the present paper.Material and methods: This study consisted of analyzing a developed questionnaire applied on a study group of 334 students from PESF–WUT, which evaluated 3 aspects of our students’ life: the educational aspect, physical activity and leisure time.Results: The results revealed that COVID-19 Pandemic was a major life changing factor for our students, affecting all aspects of their daily routines. The evaluation of behavior regarding physical activity revealed that this component of our students’ life is of great importance in both the educational and leisure aspects of life.Conclusion: The study revealed that face to face, interpersonal contact has a great impact for both educational performance and the psychological and social aspect, by keeping the level of motivation at high standards. Last but not least, physical activity performed even in unusual conditions, such as Pandemic lockdowns has a great influence on stress management.

  • Impact of using modern technology in training on sports performance

    • Abstract: Introduction: The close relationship between technology and sports is not necessarily modern. The ancient Greeks had the idea of sculpting and making an extraordinarily aerodynamic object in the form of a disc, an early masterpiece that has remained largely unchanged to this day.Purpose: This paper aims to show the importance of monitoring training using technological tools, so as to result in a beneficial effect on athletes.Materials and methods: In order to carry out this research, 32 athletes, boxing practitioners for at least two years, and with at least one year of preparation for participating in domestic and international competitions, were selected. Subjects were divided into two groups, one that was subjected to research (experimental) composed of 12 athletes aged 15 to 18 years, and the other composed of 20 athletes aged between 15 and 18 years.Results: The average scores for the four parameters of the experiment group (N= 12) (Forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), M = 6.95, AS = 0.53; peak expiratory flow (PEF) M = 9.43, AS = 1.35; Right direct punch (MYO_DRP) M = 588.33, AS = 181.94; respectively the left direct punch (MYO_STG) M = 546.75, AS = 136.82) were significantly higher than those of the control group (N=20) (FEV, M = 5.46, AS = 1.22; PEF M = 7.33, AS = 1.43; MYO_DRP M = 426.55, AS = 151.68; MYO_STG M = 406.50, AS = 139.13, respectively).Conclusions: Based on the analysed data, we can say that our hypothesis that continuous implementation and monitoring of training plans using technological means will lead to the improvement of the indices pursued in the research, is confirmed. Thus, the group that underwent a training regime using certain technological tools recorded significantly higher values at the end of the programme in comparison with the control group. However, we could see that the use of devices during training, which require them to be fitted every time on the athlete, leads to an extension of training duration and takes the athlete out of the training state. To remove this shortcoming it would be useful to integrate these equipments into a system that incorporates them all.
