      • Authors: Víctor A. González-Coto, Víctor Hernández-Beltrán, Cristina Torrado-Ferrera, Luisa Gámez-Calvo, Rui Paulo, José M. Gamonales
        Pages: e18076 - e18076
Abstract: Introduction: Alternative Games and Sports arise with the intention of introducing new alternatives that make possible a more logical evolution of the game and sport, favouring motivation, participation, and enjoyment to escape from the monotony of traditional methodologies. Objetive: Therefore, the aim of this paper is to carry out a systematic review of the literature on the game and alternative sport Ringol. Methodology: For this, a document search has been carried out in the following databases: Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scopus and Sportdiscus. For the search of the documents, the following keywords have been used: "Ringol", "Physical education", and "Primary education", obtaining a final number of 6 valid documents, identified until November 2022. To limit the search and obtain the most appropriate documents, a series of inclusion and exclusion were established. Results: The results show that most of the documents are Academic Projects, written in Spanish and found in Google Scholar, with a predominance of Sports Information. Conclusions: The documents analyzed show that the main benefits of Ringol are egalitarian practice, the development of motor skills and actions such as participation, motivation, cooperation, and respect. The educational level where these projects are carried out is both Primary Education and Secondary Education. Finally, this review serves as a basis and guide for future research on the Ringol.

               Among Cuban National Athletics Team

        • Authors: Adrián Feria-Madueño, César Montoya, Larién López, Luis Gustavo Gónzalez-Carballido
          Pages: e19168 - e19168
Abstract: Introduction: Elite sports pose potential health risks, but are vital to the well-being of society. In Cuban society, sport is an integral part of personal development and public health, fostering unity and promoting female participation for sustainable growth. Athletics is one of the most important sports in Cuban sport, and should be approached both from the point of view of sports training and sports psychology. Purpose: The aim of this study was to provide a description of conditional variables in a countermovement jump (CMJ), mood profile, self-efficacy, and the leg-hip height index among athletes from the Cuban national athletics pre-selection team, differentiated by gender. Methods: Our sample consisted of the Cuban national athletics pre-selection team. Results: Mood profile analysis using the Profile of Mood States (POMS) did not reveal significant gender differences, with a small effect size for gender. Men showed a slightly greater trend towards vigor compared to women. Significant differences in self-efficacy were observed between men and women in their confidence levels to achieve jump heights between 21 and 40 cm using the CMJ. However, no significant differences were found for jumps exceeding 40 cm, highlighting the importance of strategies to enhance athletes’ psychological needs and self-efficacy. Conclusions: This study suggests that the association between tension-related anxiety and performance indicators related to jump height may play a crucial role in determining specific profiles in male and female Cuban athletes. Our comprehensive analysis contributes to understanding gender differences in performance factors. These findings provide valuable insights for future research and athlete development strategies.
Keywords: Scientific Articles ; Visual Movements and SportsPerformance of the TennisPlayer: Scoping Review

          • Authors: MIGUEL ALFREDO PIRACHICAN ALAGUNA, LUIS ALBERTO CARDOZO
            Pages: e17800 - e17800
Abstract: Purpose: The presente study aims to explore the existing
bibliography on visual skills and visual movements in tennis
            players.
Method: We searched the Scopus, SPORTDiscus, PubMed
and Google Scholar databases, which allowed us to select 37
empirical studies carried out with a quantitative method.
The choice of the studies responded to the criteria
established around the Keywords, the subject of the study
            and the research methodology.
Results: The results are organized into three central topics:
            (a) Antecedents of visual skills in the 20th century, (b) 21st
century: Role of saccadic movements, and (c) Reflections on
the tennis feat and saccadic movements.
Conclusions: Throughout several decades of research
and monitoring of the “vision and sport” approach in
field tennis, specifically in the visual movements between
fixations and saccadic movements, differential levels of
tennis performance can be identified with the potential to
be indicators of better sports performance. Given that the
tools used so far in this discipline for the selection and/or
evaluation processes are not determinant, due to being a
multifactorial sport discipline of perceptual-motor order and
open skills, it is suggested that visual skills may be essential
for the acquisition of a high competitive level. This aspect
raises an interesting line of research that deserves further
            exploration in the future.

                   Horizontal JumpPerformance in ProfessionalSoccer Players

            • Authors: Javier Sánchez Sánchez, Mario Sanchez, Luis Perez, Rodrigo Ramirez-Campillo
              Pages: e17521 - e17521
Abstract: Objective: To analyze the effect of activation through
bilateral or unilateral strength and plyometric exercises on
horizontal jump performance. Methodology: The study
involved 15 highly trained male soccer players (age, 24.7
              ± 3.1 years; height, 181.2 ± 4.7 cm; weight, 79.7 ± 3.4 kg)
from the same team competing in the national league.
Their regular training routine consisted of 4 sessions and
1 competitive match per week. Participants performed 1
control protocol (CON) and 3 activation protocols following
a counterbalanced design based on specific soccer
exercises (SIN), bilateral (BIL), and unilateral (UNI) strength
and plyometric exercises. After each protocol, players
underwent the horizontal jump test (HZB). Results: The
repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant positive
effects on HZB for the SIN (p<0.01; diff = 2.95(2.00) %), BIL
              (p<0.01; diff = 3.22(2.61) %), and UNI (p<0.01; diff = 6.80(3.40)
%) protocols compared to CON. Furthermore, HZB was
significantly higher after the UNI protocol than after SIN
              (p<0.01; diff = 3.74(2.62) %) and BIL (p<0.01; diff = 3.47(1.94)
%). Individual response analysis reflected positive effects
on HZB for SIN, BIL, and UNI compared to CON, while 89 %
of players showed better HZB performance after UNI than
after BIL. Conclusions: Activation incorporating unilateral
strength and plyometric stimuli has a greater positive
effect on horizontal jump capacity than activation involving
              general, soccer-specific, and bilateral exercises.

                Pages: e17499 - e17499
Abstract: Introduction: Several studies describe the different benefits of physical activity in children and adolescents. Indeed, when a deficit of physical activity is evident in these age groups, there is a concomitant increase in metabolic and metabolic disorders. Objective: to analyze the patterns of physical activity, biological maturation and bone mineral content in Colombian schoolchildren between 8 and 16 years of age according to the socioeconomic status to which they belong. Materials and methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a correlational scope, which included a representative sample of Colombian schoolchildren between 8 and 16 years of age, who were assessed for their level of physical activity through the PAQ-C, also, different anthropometric measurements are evaluated and indirectly the peak growth velocity (PSV) and bone mineral density (BMD) are prolonged. Results: a total of 2147 schoolchildren were evaluated, of which 56.7% belonged to educational institutions of the public system, statistically significant associations were found between sex and socioeconomic status with the level of physical activity and the other study variables. Conclusion: It can be concluded that physical activity, biological maturation and bone health are closely related to socioeconomic status in Colombian schoolchildren, which allows early diagnoses and decision-making regarding educational and public health programs and strategies.

                • Authors: Miguel Alarcón-Rivera, Luis Benavides-Roca, Eduardo Guzmán-Muñoz, Cristian Salazar-Orellana
                  Pages: e16859 - e16859
Abstract: Objective: The aim of this systematic review was to determine the effects of cluster training on muscle
                  hypertrophy.
Methodology: A literature search was performed in the electronic databases Pubmed, Scopus and Web of Science,
using the following keywords: “cluster training”, “rest interval”, “rest pause”, “hypertrophy”, “resistance training”
and “cross sectional area”. We included clinical trials that used cluster training as an intervention in people over 18
years of age of both sexes.
Results: The systematic review obtained during the search of the databases consulted yielded a total of 23 potentially eligible articles, of which a sample of 9 was taken from which results could be obtained that responded to the objective of this review. The number of participants from the 9 eligible articles was 172 subjects. Cluster workouts allow for increased training volume and intensity without causing high levels of fatigue, thus favoring the development of muscle
                  hypertrophy.
Conclusions: The results of this systematic review suggest that cluster training can be an effective tool for the development of muscle hypertrophy.

ligament rupture in sport: A review

                  • Authors: Wilson Arroyo Moya, Alonso Rodríguez-Buitrago, Jorge Buitrago-Espitia
                    Pages: e16694 - e16694
Abstract: Introduction: Genetic component has been established as a significant risk factor for anterior cruciate ligament rupture (ACLR). Current research has focused on knowing the candidate genes that can influence and predispose a subject to this injury. Objective: A bibliometric analysis was carried out to trace the results of the research and identify global trends and gaps in knowledge about the relationship between the genetic component and ACLR. Methodology: Data were extracted from the Pubmed and Scopus databases and analyzed in the Bibliometrix package of the R software. A total of 63 studies published since 2007 were identified. Results: Most of the publications recovered were research articles (85.71%). The authors with the highest number of those are in Poland and South Africa. The analysis through the co-occurrence map reveals that there is a mainline of research based on the study of genetic polymorphisms, especially in the genes of the collagen families (COL1A1, COL5A1, COL12A1, in greater frequency). A total of 54 candidate genes were identified within the studies. Conclusion: We hope that this study can help to find key points and research gaps by providing a comprehensive analysis and structured information on this topic.

                      Pages: e16622 - e16622
Abstract: Introduction: The variables determinants of physical performance in cross-country marathon of mountain biking (XCM-MTB) are still unknown. Objective: We aimed to verify the training control variables and the physiological responses in an official XCM-MTB race. Material and methods: 13 athletes (11 men and 2 women; 33.3 ± 12.7 years of age) participated in this study. It was conducted during an official XCM-MTB in Brazil (route of 70 km). The heart rate (HR), altimetry, velocity, temperature, pacing, and power were obtained every 10 km travelled by the STRAVA application. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to verify whether the variables could predict physical performance. Results: The athletes maintained constant HR elevation in the corresponding zone 80% HRmax. They also presented a variation in the pacing (F = 35.82; p < 0.001; d = 0.66) and power (F = 7.20; p < 0.001; d = 0.18) showing higher values in the last 10 km. Only pacing can be considered a predictor of the physical performance (β = 0.958; t = 7.30; p < 0.001), specifically the one at 20 km (F = 10.23; p = 0.004; R2 = 0.82). Conclusion: The study concluded that the analyzed variables are reliable for the performance control in an official XCM-MTB race. HR and power are variables that can be used to prescribe and control training, as they change according to the requirements of the race. Power can also be used as a performance predictor as it is directly influenced by terrain

Abstract: Purpose: To explore and discuss theoretical and practical scientific literature to compare sports diversification and early sports specialization as a sport and educational approach. Methods: A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, and 61 studies were included.
Results: Coaches, parents, and children consider that the best way to develop sports talent and enter the elite in sports is to practice a single discipline as early as possible to achieve specialization and maximum technical skills and physical and psychological conditions. Sports specialization paths may lead to a physical, social, and mental state that compromises their integral development.
Conclusion: Sports diversification should be considered first at an early age and, afterward, the specialization once the bases of strength, conditioning, neuromuscular training, and a specific psychomotor maturation have been achieved, so that sports performance and health are not compromised in the medium or long term. It is necessary to consider that few children enter elite sports, so for many of them, sports education will be the basis for exercising their citizenship as active people.

Abstract: Purpose: To analyze the psychometric characteristics of the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale Argentine version in a Costa Rican elderly group.
Materials and methods: The study had two groups, one for the pilot study (N = 40, X = 69.38), and another for the analysis of the psychometric properties (N = 100, X = 69.31). The 25- item Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale, Argentine version, was used. An analysis by expert judgment and a pilot study were carried out to establish the scale to be validated, after which, the complete validation study was carried out. Factor
analyzes and Cronbach’s alpha were applied.
Results: They were obtained two factors named: a) “selfefficacy capacity”, and b) “purpose in life capacity”. The global internal consistency was 0.84, for the first factor was 0.81 and for the second factor was 0.74.
Conclusions: The scale generated is reliable and valid to assess resilience in an elderly people with similar characteristics to the present study. In the future, it is recommended to carry out qualitative analyzes to better define the constructs based on the characteristics of the population.
