Authors: Patel Furqan Ahamed; Khan Nazma Mukhtar, Riyazuddin Shaikh, Nadim Iqbal khan, Anees Shaikh Abstract: The Unani system of medicine is the medicine of centuries. Four types of treatment in Unani system are Ilaj-bil-Giza (Dietotherapy), Ilaj-bil-Dawa (Pharmacotherapy), Ilaj-bil-Yad (Surgery), and Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer (Regimental therapy). These are the main methods of Tibb disease treatment and health protection. Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer holds significant importance among the four mentioned types, as the majority of the systems are utilized either solely or in conjunction with medications. This highlights the crucial role of Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer in traditional healing practices and underscores its effectiveness in treating various ailments. Regimental therapy is a physical method of treatment, improving the constitution of the body by removing diseased material from the body. The Unani approach to healthcare revolves around restoring the balance of humors and tissues in the body, which is essential for good health. Regimental therapy is an effective tool in achieving this balance, as it helps to strengthen the immune system and promote overall health. In addition, adherence to the six essentials of life (Asbab-e-satta zarooria) plays a significant role in maintaining a healthy life. It is a key part of this approach as it helps to improve the immune system, leading to better overall health. Additionally, the use of Asbab-e-satta zarooria, or the six essentials of life, is also crucial in maintaining a healthy life and treating physical ailments. Through proper arrangement and utilization of these essentials, the Unani system of medicine is able to improve the quality of health and promote overall wellness. Most of the diseases are caused by the metabolic products that come from excessively accumulated food, blood and excessive impurities. Thus the concept of congestion or filling of the six methods of evacuation of blood supply, purgation, vomiting, sweating, diuresis, and cauterization are described. Bleeding of the testicles, leech therapy and cupping with scarification are some of the important parts of regimental therapy treatment of the system. Leech therapy, which is one of the most important and widely practiced methods known from ancient times is still alive. This fact testifies to its effectiveness in various health problems. The present paper discussed the method, indication and contraindications of leech therapy. PubDate: Mon, 23 Oct 2023 08:37:27 +000

Authors: Deepak Kumar; D. B. Vaghela Abstract: The drugs of Madhupipplyadi Yoga are Tridosha Shamaka properties with Vranashodhana, Vranaropana, as well as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cleaning and wound healing properties. The goal of the current study was to examine the pharmacognostical, physiochemical, and detailed drug review of Madhupipplyadi Yoga as well as to verify the authenticity of the drugs used in the preparation. All Ayurvedic texts, data from web-based search engines, and journal articles were used in the systematic search for pertinent drug reviews. According to standard Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India procedures, the detailed powder microscopy, physicochemical analysis, and high-performance thin layer chromatography studies were carried out. Microscopic characteristics of Madhupipplyadi Yoga powder showed the presence of epic cells, oil globule, oleoresin, stone cell and prismatic crystal. The result of loss on drying, total ash, water, methanol-soluble extractive and pH values were about 6.3%w/w, 11.6%w/w, 12.5%w/w, 10.35%w/w, and 6.5, respectively. At both short (254 nm) and long (366 nm) ultraviolet rays, the high-performance thin layer chromatography study found seven and six spots, respectively. The outcomes of pharmacognostical, physicochemical, and high-performance thin layer chromatography studies may be used as a diagnostic tool to identify and authenticate Madhupipplyadi Yoga and to uphold its quality, strength, purity, and effectiveness. Authors: Shweta Mali Abstract: In Ayurveda, marma represents a vulnerable spot in our body. We come across the knowledge of marma since Vedic period. The frequency and intensity of injury on this spot either by trauma or by any illness may lead to different signs, symptoms or even death. Hence the concept of marma is effective, imperative and distinctive which is not seen in any other branch of medical science. Each marma has its own quintessence. The Vitap marma is Adhoshakhagata, Vaikalyakara marma of 1 Anguli Pramana. Gross mention is made of its position, structural elements, and viddha lakshana. According to the Acharyas, any injury on the Vitap marma leads to Shandatva and Alpashukrata. From these lakshanas, we can interpret that this vital point has an indirect effect on the reproductive system. So, the knowledge and awareness of the structures encompassing the Vitap marma is need of the hour. PubDate: Fri, 18 Aug 2023 00:00:00 +000

Authors: Naina Burdak; Bhanu Pratap Singh, Mahendra Prasad, C. R. Yadav Abstract: Aahar (Food) is considered as the first pillar of Ayurveda; among the three, Nidra and Brahmacharya are the other two pillars. Many diseases can be prevented by a modified diet (nutritious). Karshya is one of the diseases related to annavaha srotas. It is a type of malnutrition resulting from a deficiency of proteins and calories in food over a long period of time. It is very common among young children(usually below 5 years of age). In Ayurveda, Karshya is explained as Apatarpanajanya vyadhi and caused by Rasavaha Shrotodusti where vata dosha plays a primary role in the pathogenesis, along with vitiated Pitta. Laghu-Dravya-Santarpana Chikitsa should be advised in Karshya-Rogi. Vata and vata- pitta dosh of chikitsa by Bringhan drugs and foods is helpful in Karshya. Protein Energy Malnutrition is an important cause of childhood morbidity and mortality that leads to permanent impairment of the physical and mental growth of those who survive. Karshya is a symptom of many diseases. Ayurveda can also be related to malnutrition basedon the clinical symptoms of these diseases as they are related to each other.
