  • Conhecimento de Tutores de Animais Sobre Neoplasia Mamária em Cadelas e
Gatas, no Município de Lauro de Freitas, Bahia

    • Authors: Marília Carneiro de Araújo Machado, André Molina de Albuquerque, Beatriz Queiroz da Silva, Luiz Carlos Bispo dos Santos
      First page: 64
Abstract The knowledge of risk factors for mammary tumors in female dogs and cats can help identify elements related to this type of cancer, and allow veterinarians to adopt treatments and specialized monitoring, aiming to reduce the incidence and increase the animals survival. From the importance of this topic on the part of tutors and veterinarians, it is possible to adopt preventive and therapeutic measures. Therefore, the objective of this research was to assess the population’s level of knowledge that attends the UNIME Veterinary Clinic, about mammary cancer in female dogs and cats, by applying a specific questionnaire focusing on mammary cancer in animals. 200 interviews were conducted, in the form of a questionnaire, with pet tutors who attend the UNIME Veterinary Clinic, in the city of Lauro de Freitas, Bahia. According to the responses, it was found that 86.67% of tutors know that female dogs may have mammary tumors, thus increasing the possibility of early diagnosis of the disease. When asked why they do not take the animal more often to veterinary appointments, 54.67% said they think it is expensive. 63.33% of respondents declared not knowing how to prevent mammary cancer. Only 27.33% of the respondents were aware of castration before the first estrus, as a way to prevent mammary tumors. It is suggested that campaigns in higher education institutions that have a veterinary hospital, be implemented to provide clarification on mammary cancer in small animals to tutors, with the aim of reducing the incidence of these tumors.

    • Authors: Cynthia Fernanda Teles Machado
      First page: 71
           Campo Rupestre

    • Authors: Silvane Maria da Silva Pereira, Orivaldo José Saggin Júnior, Maria Lucrecia Gerosa Ramos Ramos, Maria Luiza de Freitas Konrad
      First page: 84
Abstract: O bioma Cerrado abrange boa parte do território brasileiro, com ampla diversidade biológica e paisagens variadas, formando um verdadeiro mosaico ecológico. Umidade. Esporulação. Colonização Micorrízica. Glomalina. Abstract The Cerrado biome covers much of the Brazilian territory, with wide biological diversity and varied landscapes forming a true ecological mosaic. The Eriocaulaceae are examples present in the Cerrado, growing in sandy soils of the rupestrian fields, with Paepalanthus being the largest genus of the family. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) form symbiosis with the roots of Paepalanthus, as well as with most vascular plants, and these associations, called mycorrhizae, are important for the adaptation and permanence of these plants in different environments by increasing the absorption capacity of nutrients and water. The sporulation and mycorrhizal colonization are influenced both by intrinsic factors of the host plants as well as by environmental factors. Considering that Paepalanthus occurs in different soil environments of the Cerrado, from the most humid to the driest, it was decided to evaluate the glomalin present in the rhizosphere of these plants and the sporulation and root colonization by AMF's in Paepalanthus sp. under three soil moisture levels in a rupestrian field in Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO). The results showed that the different soil moisture contents promoted different results in mycorrhizal sporulation, root and glomalin colonization. The sporulation was not affected by the change in soil moisture, however the higher moisture affected the values for glomalin and mycorrhizal colonization. Keywords: Rupestrian Field. Moisture. Sporulation. Mycorrhizal colonization. Glomalin.

           Brasil

    • Authors: Félix Santana Sobrinho Neto, Victor Hugo de Morais Danelichen
      First page: 93
Abstract The use of geotechnologies in agriculture with the use of remote sensing (SR) along with geographic information systems (GIS) in Brazil has been widely used in recent years with the launch of new satellites of high spatial resolution, since they are low cost, absent the technical workforce in the field and accurately reaches areas of large agricultural tracts. Therefore, the general objective of this work was to analyze different studies using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) in the main Brazilian crops (soybean, sugar cane and coffee). The present work presented the knowledge about vegetation indices, orbital sensors, and the use of geotechnology to monitor crops in Brazil. It was possible to conclude that the NDVI is the vegetation index most used in Brazil for studies involving mapping and diagnosis of different crops grown in the country, being used by different authors with different satellites. Other vegetation indexes such as SAVI and EVI were also presented and highlighted as alternative methodologies to produce crop vegetation maps, crop health indicators, besides conventional (NDVI). The study also demonstrated Remote Sensing as an indispensable, viable and inexpensive alternative technique in the current Brazilian context involving agricultural activity. Keywords: Geotechnology; Indices of vegetation; Remote sensing; Satellites; Cultures.

      First page: 100
Estrutura do solo. Atributos físicos. Compactação do solo. Atividade microbiana. Abstract Agricultural soils are continually modified by natural or anthropic actions. Rational soil management seeks technological alternatives that enable increased productivity through sustainable agriculture. The objective of this study was to carry out a survey of data on management practices, the physical quality of the soil and its relationship with the impacts generated by agricultural use. The research methodology consisted of a literature review carried out through books, scientific articles, research in newspapers, scientific journals and others. In soil quality monitoring, the quantification of some physical, chemical and biological indicators is considered and not just one attribute. Updating these indicators makes it possible to adapt management practices and explain their limitations in terms of soil use, being useful in the assessment of their conservation status, which enables a safe management of their resources. However, for each system there are factors that influence positively or negatively and reflect, in parameters, that are really sensitive in detecting alterations in the soils submitted to different cultivation practices. The management and physical quality of the soil reflect on the adequate structure of the soil, porous enough to carry out gas exchange, ensuring the supply of water, nutrients and adequate plant growth. It was observed that the different cultivation systems are generated for specific situations and soils and that, when characterizing signs of degradation, the need arises to adopt techniques that favor their structuring. In addition, a greater number of studies are needed for the validation and application of practices that reliably maintain or favor soil quality, which represents an opportunity for the development of new research in the area. Keywords: Cultivation systems. Soil structure. Physical attributes. Soil compaction. Microbial activity.

Sobrepeso. Obesidade. Abstract By knowing the excessive weight during gestation, it is associated with unfavorable outcomes and contributes for the woman’s overweight and obesity, the worry about the gestational weight gain earns its spot in the health service area. This study proposes to investigate this matter, considering that studies which evaluate the gestational weight gain with repercussions beyond the physical and biological are scarce. The objective of this study is to analyze the senses assigned by woman about the excessive weight in the postpartum period. The qualitative approach research, substantiated in the interpretative perspective, was developed with overweight and obese women who performed the prenatal in two basic care unities, in Rio de Janeiro, in the period of until one year postpartum. Semi structured interviews and content analyzes adapted from Bardin (2011) were performed. The weight excess has been frequently associated, by women, to feelings that revealed some degree of pain. The body during the postpartum period hasn't corresponded according to the women's expectations, which could report their weakness with self-care. Psychosocial aspects during this period also have their importance. The physical changes were noticed more intensely than specifically being overweight. Return to the non-pregnant body was pointed out as the greatest wish, which, in a way, tends to rescue the identity, at this moment of maternity. The health professional vision needs to be careful and watchful and offer ways of support to their difficulties that can appear after pregnancy. Keywords: Postpartum. Postpartum Period. Nutrition. Overweight. Obesity.

  • Ácido Lipóico no Estresse Oxidativo: Prevenção e Manejo da Infecção
           Viral por COVID-19

    • Authors: Érica da Silva Romão Cassiano, Chimara Emília Nascimento Sanches, Patrícia Azevedo de Lima Masuda
      First page: 124
Covid-19. Estresse Oxidativo. Ácido Lipóico. Ácido α-Lipóico. Lipolisina Abstract Covid-19 is an infectious disease that has brought several economic, social, cultural and political impacts since 2019. Research groups around the world have been dedicated to a continuous search for the management and treatment of the infection. The vaccine was fundamental to the control of pandemic, however, the virus remains active with a high transmission rate and there is a concern with its evolution, especially with the emergence new variants. The disease is caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus, in which the viral Spike (S) protein binds to human ACE 2 receptors and protease TMPRSS2 initiates the viral replication process, releasing oxygen-reactive species (ROS), leading to hypercytokinemia and promoting inflammatory reactions that can lead to the development of respiratory and other organ failure, such as shock and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Lipoic acid (LA) found in food sources is considered a universal antioxidant and has shown the potential to alter the course of an infection by acting as a “scavenger” of free radicals, inhibiting and acting on inflammation with antiviral actions that can neutralize stress. This review describes the main functions of LA in the antioxidant system and control of hypercytonemia and it presents the main mechanisms of LA in this regulation. Keywords: Antioxidant. Covid-19. Oxidative Stress. Lipoic Acid. Lipoic α-Acid. Lipolysine.

  • Estudo do Produto Biológico BetaSoil® para Agricultura

    • Authors: Bruna Fernanda Albertti, Mayara Murata, Josemeyre Bonifacio da Silva Marques, Hélio Hiroshi Suguimoto
      First page: 130
Microrganismos. Agricultura. Saúde. Fermentação. Abstract Brazil is one of the largest consumers of agrochemicals and in recent decades there has been a significant increase in their use, which has led to a series of problems related to environmental contamination and human health. The growing concern about the use of agrochemicals has led science to expand the study of the potential of biological compounds for use in agriculture, whether for production in organic or conventional systems. The aim of this article was to study the biological product BetaSoil®, developed by the company Zbiotec, obtained by fermentation of a consortium of bacteria and yeasts in sugar cane molasses and vegetable extracts. Beneficial microorganisms are able to produce important organic substances such as hormones and vitamins through secondary metabolism, while plants are able to influence the composition of the microbiota around their root system by exuding carbohydrates, proteins and other compounds. This interaction between the plant, bacteria and yeast occurs in the rhizosphere, where microorganisms, through different mechanisms, increase the solubilization of mineral phosphates, produce plant hormones such as indole acetic acid, gibberellic acid, cytokinins and ethylene. This relationship brings several benefits to agriculture, such as the promotion of plant growth and phytopathogenic organisms control, especially fungi, through the production of antibiotics and other organic compounds. Keywords: Biological product. Microorganisms. Agriculture. Health. Fermentation.
