  • A Research on the Problems of Syrian Refugees in the Integration Process
           with Turkish Society

    • Authors: Mustafa İNCE; Mustafa SHİKO
Abstract: Every year, tens of thousands of people in the world have to leave their homeland for various reasons and migrate to other countries. Especially the wars and instability in the Middle East geography accelerated the mass migration from this region. Due to the civil war that broke out in Syria in 2011, the security of life in the country was destroyed, and Syria had to immigrate to other countries. The idea that the beliefs and cultures are close/appropriate and that they will be accepted more easily, especially geographical proximity, has been effective in the migration preferences of Syrian refugees. This situation has led to agglomeration in some countries, and integration problems have started to emerge in many issues in the countries of immigration. In our country, where approximately 4 million Syrian refugees are sheltered, integration and social cohesion problems have begun to be experienced, especially due to the agglomeration in certain regions. Ensuring integration and social cohesion is of great importance for both the immigrants and the residents of the migrated region to live more peacefully. The aim of this study is to try to reveal the integration process of Syrian refugees living in Turkey and the problems they experience in this process. Within the scope of the study, interviews were conducted with 40 Syrian refugees living in Turkey using in-depth observation technique, and it was tried to determine the problems experienced in the integration and social cohesion process.

  • THE TWO FACES OF MODERNISM: THE FILM "COLD WAR"

    • Authors: Rana ANTEPLİ
Abstract: Since the philosophy of the Enlightenment, the prominence of positivism and rationality is seen not only in scientific developments, but also in philosophical and political developments. Industrial production, which came with the industrial revolution, has been a stage that accelerated the replacement of traditional culture and traditional society with modernity and modern individuals. With the introduction of mass production into the lives of individuals, the definitions of work and daily life have changed. Certain ideologies put forward against the bourgeoisie and strict class distinctions, together with the industrial society, have prepared the environment for the determination of new ideals on management. The power changes that took place after the two World Wars in the first half of the 20th century led to ideological gaps between the countries in the USA and Europe, and caused this concept to be interpreted and applied differently during the periods when modernism was most effective in administration. The Cold War period between the USSR, which has a Marxist ideology, and the USA, which carries out liberal economic policies, has been extremely influential in the lives of individuals in social and political life, especially in Europe. In this study, the movie "Cold War" will be evaluated using content analysis over traditional society and modern society, Soviet ideology and global capitalism, eastern and western lifestyles. During the Cold War period, when the "Cold War" movie is set, the transformation of individuals and how the ideologies that dominate life in different parts of Europe are blended in modern societies will be judged through the qualitative data study of the movie "Cold War".

  • A Research On The Skills of Understanding and Writing Hadith Texts

    • Authors: Erdoğan KÖYCÜ
Abstract: In the first part of our research, the works of the some companions who determined the hadiths in writing during the time of our Prophet (p.b.u.h) are summarized. The stages of hadith texts during the tadwin and classification period are included and the value of al-Kutub al-Tis'a today and the importance of hadiths selected from this work in education of hadith texts are emphasized. It is the examination of the Hadith Texts course of the 4th grade students of the Department of Primary Education Religious Culture and Moral Education at Bartın University Education Faculty which we consider as an example the memorization and writing status of our students who read hadith texts. The writing skills of the 4th grade students who took the Hadith texts course as an elective and their translation skills from Arabic to Turkish and from Turkish to Arabic were examined. The reasons for choosing this course and the reasons for failure in hadith texts were investigated. It has been determined that the students preferred this course because the hadiths are the main source of the Islamic Religion and the effectiveness of the course increased according to the content of the course, the teacher giving this course and the methods he used. It has been determined that students fail to write hadith texts rather than reading. It was concluded that the reasons for the failure of the students in writing the hadith texts were due to the fact that they did not receive training in writing Arabic hadith texts and writing techniques during their high school education.

  • During The Covid-19 Pandemic Period Changing Rules of Reputation
           Management and Successful Industry Examples

    • Authors: Merve ÇELİK VAROL
Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic period, which started in March 2020 and is still ongoing, has affected all humanity, all sectors and the whole world. While this effect has shaken all sectors and economies in the form of crisis management and the side effects of the crisis due to adverse conditions, on the other hand, it has made it necessary to develop different, fast and effective renewals and develop extraordinary solutions in extraordinary conditions in order to redesign the future of the world and sectors. As both a public relations method and a basic management philosophy of business science, Reputation Management criteria and practices have also witnessed different applications during the Covid-19 pandemic period, enabling the development of solutions and differences that can be a source for organizations to create new dynamics in managing their reputation perceptions. It is certain that the perception of reputation is most affected by the crisis periods. In this context, it is inevitable that reputation management components will create the need to develop different applications in a global, massive crisis, such as the Covid-19 pandemic period, where the consequences have wide effects. In today's conditions, where many management philosophies and practices are transformed and the rules of the business world are rewritten, examining the change and transformation of the components and application examples of Reputation Management through the examples in the sector will shed light on future reputation management practices. In this study, the changing and unchanging rules of Reputation Management components were transferred during the period when the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic were valid, when many institutions or countries in the world limited their institutions, borders, streets and living conditions and tried to protect them with bans. Included in the Turkey Reputation Index and providing uninterrupted service during the Covid-19 period, 3 different brands in 3 different categories selected due to their convenience for their employees, customers and stakeholders in the said period were analyzed by content analysis method, thus shed light on the change and transformation of these components. tried to be kept.

  • Interaction Of Reputation Elements With Customer Preferences Within The
Scope Of Uses And Grafications Theory

    • Authors: Sevinç KOÇAK; Mukaddes Tuğba ÖZOCAK
Abstract: Today, there are the effects of messages conveyed by many mass communications studies under the customers' preference for any brand or product. Strategic marketing elements, psychological and sociological factors and perceptions also affect consumers' product or brand preferences. In this study, while the effects of reputation management components on customer preferences were investigated, the contribution of the products and brands (private label) in the retail sector to the preference process of their work with mass media was evaluated with a field study. While the effect of mass communication on consumers is explained by uses and gratification theory, James Fombrun's RQ components are taken into account as reputation components. Within the framework of uses and gratifications theory, the data on the effects of reputation components on consumers' preferences for retail products are discussed in a field study conducted with 600 consumers. The findings obtained in the field research; It is revealed that consumers who are exposed to mass media messages and who shop after being informed are more aware of and attach importance to the features of the brand's reputation in the said messages and in retail environments. Customers determine their chain market brand preferences based on reputation components in the retail sector and state that they shop more regularly and safely from reputable brands.

  • Mise-en-Scene Criticism of Election Night (1998) at the Intersection of
Ethnocentrism and the Opposition to Us and the Other

    • Authors: Korhan TOPCU
Abstract: The concept of ethnocentrism, which is an expression of discrimination, is a cultural phenomenon that refers to the dislike. Ethnocentrism, which literally means 'race-centrism', is defined as 'the tendency of the individual to see her/his own culture and lifestyle superior to other people'. Ethnocentrism assumes that the way an event or situation is done in other societies is more backward than the way it is done in its own society. This study analyzes the Danish screenwriter-director Anders Thomas Jensen's movie Election Night (Valgaften, 1998), which focuses on ethnocentric discussions with taxi drivers of different ethnic origins, in the taxis of a man who is delayed in voting on the election day, in the context of mise-en-scene criticism. Mise-en-scene, which means putting on stage and is a theater concept, can be considered as the organization of the space in the camera's field of view by the director according to the film narrative in cinema. This organization is a set of preferences that reveal the director's style in the process of transforming the script text into an audio-visual narrative. The mise-en-scene Jensen used on Election Night, which won the Best Short Film Oscar at the 1999 Academy Awards; acting, location, camera angle, lighting and sound design elements were handled within a systematic approach; The functions of the elements that make up the mise-en-scene and how they contribute to the narrative of the film are examined.

  • A Current Approach in Sustainable Fashion: Vegan Leather

    • Authors: Gülşen Şefika BERBER; Ebru KESKİN
Abstract: Since the half of the 20th century, new and current production techniques have emerged in textile surface creation methods thanks to both material diversity and technical developments. These production techniques offer ecological, sustainable alternatives that do not harm nature and living things. Vegan leather, one of the new techniques, is included in non-woven surfaces that can be used instead of leather obtained from animals with many raw materials. The use of vegan leather, which has been preferred by designers recently, has reduced the negative effects of standard production methods such as the decrease in animal resources in the world, the increase in water consumption, and greenhouse gasses. In addition, it has become a current sustainable alternative as an attitude against speciesism. In this study, the contribution of vegan leather to sustainable fashion, which is an opposing view to the understanding of fast consumption, has been researched in the direction of usage areas, production methods and raw material sources, in the synthesis of the information obtained after the literature review on vegan leather. In addition, examples of designs made using vegan leather will add visual richness to the subject. By applying the trace analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, the concept of sustainability is based on vegan leather production. The limitation of the study is the produced vegan leather fabrics and the designs made from them. This research will be a source for later studies on vegan leather by developing an awareness of the concepts of recycling, proper use of resources, slow fashion, ecological textiles in textile production methods.

  • The Deconstruction of the Contagion Movie: The Meta-Virus or
           Commercialization of Virus

    • Authors: Hacer AKER
Abstract: Contagion, one of the most-watched epidemic films in the Covid-19 period, was released to the market as a wake-up call to the ethical responsibilities of government institutions and international organizations in the face of a possible pandemic. The fact that the aspects of the narrative that touch today's reality were frequently mentioned in the media also provided a meaningful basis for thinking about the film. This study outed from the claim that the mentioned trends are an illusion and aimed to present a critical analysis that reveals the inconsistencies in the movie. He did this with a metonymic approach that undermines ideological metaphors, in other words, with references of the deconstructive reading. When the findings were evaluated as a whole, it seemed possible to consider Contagion as a movie that commercialized and commodified the virus, did not think about its subject and object and lied to its audience.

  • Semıotıc Analysıs Of Costumes In Turkısh Scıence Fıctıon Movıes
After 2000: Example Of Gora- Arog- Arif V 216 Movıes

    • Authors: Selda GÜZEL; Suna DURDU ZOR
Abstract: It is known that with the spread of Posmodermism, each branch of art is influenced by each other and repeats each other. In this context, it is thought that there is a dependency relationship between culture, cinema and costume. The codes in the cinema costumes are affected by the cultural structure, ideology, history, sexism, religion, morality, etc. of the society. These values give messages within the system. Like all branches of art, cinema also bears the traces of the social conditions, culture and value judgments it has been born in. The study covers the costumes of the main characters in the Turkish science fiction films: Gora- Arog- Arif V 216 after 2000. The aim of the study is to semiotically analyze the meanings conveyed by the costumes of the main characters of Gora, Arog and Arif V 216 in the context of intertextuality and interclothing. In line with the purpose of the study, the meanings of the costumes in the films were examined, explained and interpreted with the semiotic analysis method. The meanings of the clothes were investigated. 23 costumes were analyzed in the sample group determined intentionally from the films Gora Arog and Arif V216, which constitute the sample of the study. In the content analysis of the clothing analysis, the content analysis of the selected clothes in terms of the color, cut, shape and ornament features of the clothes of the main characters used in the films were made. In line with the analyzes made, the clothes that are the subject of the movie and the other clothes that are referred to in the movie are comparatively analyzed in terms of color, cut, shape and ornamental features. When the intertextual relationship in the costumes was evaluated, a comparative content analysis was made between the three films. The different clothes worn by the same characters in the three films were analyzed. When the inter-symbol relationship of the costumes was examined, the analysis was made according to Barthes's "meaning integrity basic method".After determining the clothing indicators of the main characters, the connotative codes, cultural codes and clothing belonging to the indicators were evaluated. Finally, in line with the findings obtained as a result of the study, suggestions for future scientific research on costume analysis and perception and interpretation of the images of costumes are presented.

Western films are known as films that tell the founding myths of the American nation. In these films, which take place in a closed universe, the white male cowboy maintains order by using violence against certain races. This study analyses Fast and the Dead (1995, Sam Raimi), an example of a Western movie in the light of Will Wright's classical narrative structure of the Western. What makes this movie distinctive is the female cowboy character we have rarely come across in traditional Western films. Although cowgirl character is a salient feature of Post-western movies, Fast and the Dead is based on both the thematic traditions of American ideology and Wright's classical Western plot. The study aims to scrutinise the image of the woman in the post-western world through the existence, actions, and dialogues of the female cowboy within the framework of the Classic Western plot sequence developed by Will Wright. This study shows that even though woman cowboy is the central figure who gains the respect of the people in the town after her arrival and then brings order there, all of these can be achieved by the help of male power in the subtext of the film.
