  • Bimbingan Teknis Pupuk Organik Cair untuk Meningkatkan Produksi Karet
Rakyat di Payaraman Barat Kabupaten Ogan Ilir

    • Authors: Dwi Setyawan, Dedik Budianta, Warsito Warsito, Satria Jaya Priatna
      Pages: 79 - 85
Abstract: Technical Assistance Using Liquid Organic Fertilizer for Improving Small-Scale Rubber Production in Payaraman Barat, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir. Liquid organic fertilizer (POC) is getting more attention from users (researchers, farmers, planters and others) because of the various advantages it has. Its manufacture is not too difficult and can use local raw materials ( agricultural waste, market waste or potential household organic waste). One of the advantages is that it can reduce the cost of fertilization. POC can be used to improve soil fertility and it is hoped that in the end it will be able to increase the productivity of rubber plants. This community service activity aims to provide technical guidance on how to make POC in a simple way and then apply it to rubber plants, accompanied by sanitation of the garden environment by cleaning weeds. There are four waste materials or plant materials used to make POC, namely pineapple peel waste, papaya fruit, banana peel and water hyacinth. The material is fermented in a simple reactor made of a gallon or bucket of used paint that is perforated and fitted with a faucet. The fermentation process is assisted by black soldier flies which will come into the reactor by themselves. After two weeks it will begin to produce fermented liquid. After four weeks the liquid is dried in the sun until it turns dark brown and is ready to use. In this activity, doses of 10, 20, 30 or 40 mL of POC were dissolved into 1 liter. The results of the socialization showed that 15 members of the farmer group did not know about POC and were very interested in using it. Preliminary data (n=30) showed a fairly large variation in sap production (59.7±48.6 grams/tree). Some rubber stems do not release sap, and the highest can reach 142.9 grams/tree with an average of 41 to 83 grams/tree. The collection of results is carried out every week according to latex sales. After 4 weeks of application of POC pineapple peel production can reach 165 to 470 grams/tree.

  • Peningkatan Produksi Sayuran dan Ikan secara Terpadu dalam Sistem
Bioflok-Akuaponik di Kelurahan Tanjung Johor Kota Jambi

    • Authors: Zulkarnain Zulkarnain, Eliyanti Eliyanti, Budiyati Ichwan, Irianto Irianto, Adriani Adriani

Abstract: Increasing Production of Integrated-Vegetable and Fish in the Biofloc-Aquaponic System in Tanjung Johor Village, Jambi City. Tanjung Johor is a fish-producing center in Jambi City. However, the biofloc pond of Sekintang Dayo Farmers Group was minimally managed, so the fish yield and the farmer's income is low. The technology that was the potential to be applied was biofloc-aquaponics. Biofloc-aquaponics technology is a technology in agriculture which is integrated vegetable and fish cultivation. This technology was considered adaptive and effective in Tanjung Johor Village because this area was a populated residential area, limited land availability, prone to flooding, and the community still faced food sufficiency problems. The main principle of this technology was to conserve soil and water and increase farming efficiency through the use of nutrients from fish feed residues as a nutrient source for plants, so it is environmentally friendly. The objective of this community service was to overcome problems in the community, especially members of the Sekintang Dayo farmer group, through simple environmentally friendly technology, namely biofloc-aquaponics in integrated fish and vegetable cultivation. This activity used Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, where members of the Sekintang Dayo Fish Farmer Group interact with each other to identify the problems they face and find appropriate solutions. Group members actively followed, applied, and developed technology of biofloc-aquaponics cultivation. The program evaluation at the final stage of this activity showed an improvement in farmers' understanding and skills from 49.29% to 97.14%. The farmer group members are admitted to develop the knowledge gained and will design their own biofloc-aquaponic device by utilizing existing resources.

  • Peningkatan Kapasitas Produksi Petani Jamur Tiram Desa Karangpring Melalui
Teknologi Alat Pengepres Baglog Dua Tuas

    • Authors: Ayu Puspita Arum, Setiyono Setiyono, Gatot Subroto, Wildan Muchlison
      Pages: 93 - 98
Abstract: Increasing Production Capacity of Oyster Mushroom Farmers in Karangpring Village through Baglog Two-Level Pressing Technology. The production capacity of baglog manually by oyster mushroom farmers in Karangpring Village, Sukorambi District, Jember Regency is 1,250 baglogs/month with a low average productivity of about 625 kg/4 months which is only done by 2 workers. About 25% of the total baglog made had poor oyster mushroom mycelium growth due to the lack of density of baglog so oyster mushrooms could not be harvested. The problem that can be identified is the lack of experienced workers who can properly compact baglog from F3 oyster mushroom seeds. Oyster mushroom baglog that is less dense causes the growth of oyster mushroom mycelia to be inhibited, resulting in decreased productivity. There needs to be empowerment that aims to provide education on the technique of properly compacting the oyster mushroom baglog while at the same time providing assistance with a two-lever baglog press. The method used in this empowerment activity is training and demonstration of the use of a two-lever baglog press. The result of this service activity is that baglog pressing training is carried out with a two-lever baglog pressing machine for oyster mushroom farmers. With this tool, the baglog compaction process is faster with the right density (100%) where previously 25% of the total baglog that was compacted could not be completely compacted if done manually. The production target of F3 oyster mushroom seeds, which was originally very late, became on time with only 2 workers assisted by a two-lever baglog pressing machine. Empowerment of oyster mushroom farmers through training and the provision of a two-lever baglog press was able to increase the production of F3 oyster mushroom seedlings of 10,500 baglog per month with an increase in production efficiency of 573% compared to before using the tool.

  • The Appropriate Technology Introduction for Tempeh Brownies
           Diversification in BROWNIESTA SMEs

    • Authors: Siswanti Siswanti, Setyaningrum Ariviani, Dwi Ishartani, Windi Atmaka, Lia Umi Khasanah
      Pages: 119 - 125
Abstract: A small medium enterprise (SME) of BROWNIESTA produces tempeh brownies products and is located in Pengkok Village, Kedawung District, Sragen Regency. The community service activities in 2020 conducted by the service team of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) were proven to increase the production capacity and quality of tempeh brownies. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the cessation of BROWNIESTA SMEs’ production activities. Along with the improvement in post-pandemic conditions, product demand is increasing. However, the increase in product demand could not be fully handled by BROWNIESTA SMEs. BROWNIESTA SMEs experienced difficulties, such as inadequate production equipment and lacking marketing techniques. BROWNIESTA SMEs must also be maintained through product innovation, such as steamed tempeh brownies production. Hence, this service activity aims to increase production efficiency and capacity, elevate tempeh brownies diversification, and improve product marketing techniques at BROWNIESTA SMEs. The service activities involved the appropriate technology introduction through the following activities: 1) a stand mixer and steamer introduction; and 2) the training of entrepreneurship, information technology (IT)-based marketing, and direct selling strategies. A stand mixer introduction succeeded in increasing brownies’ production efficiency by preventing the repetition of dough production in each batch. Brownies’ production capacity also increased up to 20-25% products/day. The steamer introduction successfully produced steamed tempeh brownies, thus tempeh brownies diversification was accomplished. Several training activities were proven to increase BROWNIESTA SMEs’ knowledge, especially regarding online marketing, by launching their first Instagram account to improve business activities.
