The Effects of Different Polyamine Applications on Salinity Stress in
Strawberry in In Vitro Conditions

  Abstract: Climate changes with global warming directly affect yield and quality by damaging agricultural production most intensively. In this study, the effects of different polyamine types and concentrations on some morpho-physiological and biochemical properties of the explants at different salinity levels were investigated under in vitro culture conditions in Festival strawberry cultivar. Explants grown in vitro in the study were treated at three different salinity levels (1. Control; 2. 0.4% NaCl: Medium salinity; 3. 0.8% NaCl: High salinity) and five different polyamine treatments (1. Control; 2. 0.5 mg L-1 spermine; 3. 1.0 mg L-1 spermine; 4. 0.5 mg L-1 putrescine; 5. 1.0 mg L-1 putrescine) were cultured. As a result of the study, the number of shoots per explant, shoot length, shoot proliferation rate and wilt scale values decreased depending on the increase in salinity concentration. In addition, all tried polyamine applications did not affect the shoot proliferation rate statistically, while increasing the number of shoots per explant, shoot length and wilt scale values compared to the control. Our research findings showed that the use of polyamine suppressed the effects of salt damage morpho-physiologically and biochemically in both medium and high salinity concentrations. In particular, the use of 1 mg L-1 spermine contributed to the positive development of explants under all stress conditions.

Factors Affecting Türkiye's Foreign Trade in Fruits: A Gravity
Model Approach

  Abstract: The main goal of this study is to identify the factors affecting Türkiye's foreign trade in fruits using the gravity model. For this purpose, a panel data set covering 2003-2022 for the 50 countries with which Türkiye conducts the most fruit trade has been utilized. The results showed that the key factors affecting the size of Türkiye's foreign trade in fruits are the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Türkiye and its trading partner countries, as well as the distance between them. An increase in the GDP of Türkiye and its trading partner increases the volume of fruit trade. On the other hand, as the distance between Türkiye and the trading partner countries increases, the volume of fruit trade decrease. The gravity models conclude that the variables of Türkiye's population, having a maritime connection with the partner country and border do not affect fruit trade. Understanding the factors affecting fruit foreign trade will enhance the sector's competitiveness, develop more effective policies and marketing strategies in fruit trade and support fruit producers' success in international markets.

“Strategic Orientation Round-SOR” Analysis Approach in
Strategic Planning

  Abstract: In the globalizing world, rapid developments in information and communication technologies, and increasing competition conditions have brought the strategic management approach to the fore in the efficient and effective management of countries, organizations, institutions, and corporations. The competitiveness of the sectors in the global market conditions that are expected to become more difficult in the coming years depends on taking steps in harmony with the strategic plan objectives, which are the requirements of the strategic management approach. As a result of the importance it has gained, many methods have been developed and continue to be developed in strategic planning. Strategic Orientation Round-SOR Analysis is one of the methods that has been widely used, and successful results have been obtained. The method is used successfully in many fields, such as trade, agriculture, tourism, regional development, spatial planning, organizational experience, agro-food waste valorisation, and social media. This study gave basic information about strategic management and strategic planning, the first stage of strategic management, with the literature search. In addition, the SOR Analysis method, which is an advantageous strategic planning method in terms of the competitiveness of sectors or organizations, was discussed with its conceptual dimensions, and its methodological application is included.

The Effects of Orange Oil to Population of Green Peach Aphid [(Myzus
persicae Sulzer) (Hemiptera: Aphididae)]

  Abstract: Green peach aphid, M. persicae (Sulzer, 1776) (Hemiptera:Aphididae) is an important pest species in peach orchards. Synthetic chemicals are often used in its control. In recent years, when the disadvantages of synthetic chemicals have been discussed, studies investigating alternative control methods in agricultural pest control have gained momentum. The use of monoterpenoid preparations such as orange oil is promising as environmental and human health friendly control methods. In the current literature, there are studies reporting the lethal effect of orange oil on M. persicae. However, there is no orange oil-containing product licensed for M. persicae in our country. In this study, 400 ml 100 L-1, 300 ml 100 L-1, 200 ml 100L-1 doses of a commercial preparation containing orange oil (Prev-am®) were used to determine the most effective dose against M. persicae in the field and the most effective dose were used to management of M. persicae for two years in a peach orchard. In the studies, it was seen that the most effective dose was 400 ml 100 L-1, and in the field studies, it was understood that the same dose had a lethal effect if it came into contact with M. persicae. It is thought that the result of the study will provide information for the use of 60 g L-1 orange oil-containing preparation (Prev-am®) in the control of M. persicae.
