  • Soil Conservation Instructions Against Environmental Damage Due to Erosion
           Rates in the Krueng Seulimeum Sub-watershed

    • Authors: Siswanda Siswanda, Helmi Helmi, Muhammad Faisal
      Pages: 1 - 16
Metode konservasi dapat diterapkan pada lahan pertanian SPL 1,2,3,5,6,7, dan 9.AbstractSoil is an important natural resource for ecosystems because it provides habitat for humans, animals, and plants. Soil erosion is strongly influenced by a region's geological conditions, such as the slope and length of the land, the type of rock and sediment, the permeability of the land, vegetation, climate, and the activities of living things. The aims of this research were to assess the degree of erosion risk in the Krueng Seulimuem Sub-watershed and the Krueng Aceh Watershed, as well as the environmental consequences of the damage. Direct observations at the research site and soil sample analysis were used to conduct the investigation. The erosion was estimated using the USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation). The effects of slope length and steepness factors, program management aspects, and conservation methods, as well as a variety of other research criteria, were assessed. It was carried out in three stages: (1) secondary data processing and map preparation; (2) analysis of the research site; and (3) soil analysis and data evaluation. According to the results of the soil type, slope, and land use overlay map, the research site had nine land mapping units (LMU) covering a total area of 26,497.07 hectares. The largest potential erosion was at LMU 9, with 2,857.72 tons ha-1 yr-1, while the largest actual erosion occurred at LMU 8, with 254.06 tons ha-1 yr-1. There were three degrees of erosion risk: low, moderate, and very high. The low level was present in LMU 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The moderate level was present in LMU 1, 2, 3, and 6. LMU 2 was present to the very high-level index. The recommended strategy for soil conservation was reforestation of protected areas at LMU 4 and 8. Conservation methods may be used in agricultural fields at LMU 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9

  • Phosphate Potential from Septic Tank in Surabaya City, Indonesia

    • Authors: Ghina Rizqina Ersa, Eddy Setiadi Soedjono, Agus Slamet, Ervin Nurhayati
      Pages: 17 - 26
      Abstract: AbstractPhosphate scarcity will occur if humans do not currently manage the phosphates available in nature with good management. Phosphorus rocks are a natural source of phosphates, whose availability in nature is dwindling due to the large demand for phosphates in the world, especially in agriculture. It is necessary to launch a renewal that involves the recovery of phosphates from fecal sludge. Fecal sludge contains a lot of nutrients that have accumulated from the food we eat. Due to the lack of sewage system distribution in Indonesia, phosphate recovery uses septic tank sludge that has been transported to the Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant. This is one of the potential resources. The purpose of this study was to see the potential (presence) of phosphates in domestic wastewater in Surabaya City, Indonesia. This research was carried out by accidental sampling and the measurement of total phosphate using a spectrophotometer, according to the APHA Method 45001-P standard. The initial characteristics of the sample consisted of liquid phases and solids that were brownish-black and smelly. The phosphate levels in fecal sludge are between 110.42 mg/L and 4572.64 mg/L, with an average value of 1016.77 mg/L.

  • The study of shelf-life of soymilk treated by pasteurization methods by
           using organoleptic test

    • Authors: Budi Hariono, Syamsiar Kautsar, Aulia Brilliantina, Mokhamad Fatoni Kurnianto, Rizza Wijaya
      Pages: 27 - 34
      Abstract: AbstractSoymilk is generally processed by a pasteurization process. Pasteurization itself is a method that is widely known in the processing industry as a method to kill microorganisms using high temperatures or commonly referred to as thermal methods that result in damage to physical and chemical components. Therefore, a non-thermal pasteurization process such as high pulsed electric field (HPEF) is needed to maintain product quality attributes. The purpose of this study is to determine the shelf life of soymilk treated by using organoleptic test. About 20 panellists evaluated the quality of soymilk based on color and flavour. Results showed that the HPEF treatment did not change the color and aroma of soybean juice products for 11 hours. It can extend the shelf life of soybean juice for 1 hour compared to the thermal pasteurization process.AbstrakSusu kedelai pada umumnya diolah dengan proses pasteurisasi. Pasteurisasi sendiri merupakan sebuah metode yang banyak dikenal dalam industri pengolahan sebagai metode untuk membunuh mikroorganisme menggunakan suhu tinggi atau biasa disebut dengan metode termal yang  mengakibatkan kerusakan komponen fisik serta kimiawi. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan proses pasteurisasi non-termal seperti high pulsed electric field (HPEF) yang dapat menjaga atribut mutu produk. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengkaji umur simpan susu kedelai yang diberi perlakuan metode pasteurisasi dengan uji organoleptik. Sebanyak 20 orang panelis memberikan penilaian terhadap sampel susu secara deskriptif berdasarkan kriteria warna dan aroma. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan HPEF tidak merubah warna dan aroma dari susu kedelai sampai 11 jam. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa metode HPEF dapat memperpanjang umur simpan susu kedelai selama 1 jam dibandingan metode pasteurisasi termal.

  • PEMANFAATAN DATA SATELIT MODIS UNTUK MENENTUKAN FASE TUMBUH TANAMAN PADI
           DI KECAMATAN HARAU

    • Authors: Delvi Yanti, Tiara Aulia Putri, M. Agita Tjandra
      Pages: 57 - 68
      Abstract: AbstractObservation of the growth phase of rice plants generally takes a long time and cannot cover a large area. With remote sensing, the speed and accuracy of information in agricultural management is easier. The use of MODIS satellite image data in remote sensing technology plays a role in determining the growth phase of rice plants by utilizing the vegetation index value of rice plants. The aim of the study was to determine the regression equation and the range of NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) values to predict the growth phase of rice plants in Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota District. Research in the field was carried out based on work maps obtained from the results of the imaging process in ArcGis. The location used as a sample of field observations is Grid ≥45% which is occupied by rice fields. Regression analysis was carried out to obtain a regression equation between plant age and NDVI values, then a range of values was made based on the rice growing phase. The regression equation used to predict the growth phase of rice plants in Harau District based on the NDVI value is y = -0.0000838932x² + 0.0123160507x + 0.2966130658 where x is the age of the plant (days after planting) and y is the NDVI value. The correlation coefficient (r) of the regression equation is 0.966. The range of NDVI values based on the growth phase for Harau District is the Water Phase <0.4722, the Vegetative Phase (1) 0.4722-0.6945; Vegetative phase (2) 0.6945-0.7412; Generative phase (1) 0.7412-0.6363; Generative phase (2) 0.6363-0.5665; Bera 0.5665-0.4799.Keywords:: growth phase; vegetation index; MODIS; NDVIAbstrakPengamatan fase pertumbuhan tanaman padi pada umumnya membutuhkan waktu yang lama dan tidak bisa menjangkau area yang luas. Abstract: AbstractCrystal coconut sugar contains reducing sugar in crystal coconut sugar which can cause crystal coconut sugar to be hygroscopic and make crystal coconut sugar easily absorb water. Efforts to slow down the rate of deterioration of crystal coconut sugar products can be done by packaging. Storage of crystal coconut sugar by vacuum packaging is an effort to inhibit the absorption of moisture from the environment so as to extend its shelf life. The aims of this study were 1) to examine the effect of storage and packaging temperature on several quality parameters of crystalline coconut sugar in vacuum packaging and 2) to develop the Arhenius Model Accelerated Shelf Life Test (ASLT) method to predict the shelf life of crystalline coconut sugar in vacuum packaging. This study used dried crystalline coconut sugar which was packaged using three different types of packaging, namely polyethylene (PE), vacuum packaging, and aluminum foil and then stored using different temperatures, namely 30°C and 15°C. then stored for 5 weeks and observed every 7 days. The results of calculations using the Arrhenius equation for the shelf life of crystalline coconut sugar with 2 storage temperatures and 3 different packages respectively, namely, PE packaging with a temperature of 30°C 1160 days and a temperature of 15°C 1697 days, vacuum packaging a temperature of 30°C 1504 days, temperature 15°C 2155 days, aluminum foil packaging temperature 30°C 7685 days and temperature 15°C 7690 days.Keyword : Shelf life, crystal coconut sugar, vacuum packaging, ASLT, arrheniusAbstrakGula kelapa kristal memiliki kandungan gula pereduksi yang dapat menyebabkan produk bersifat higroskopis dan mudah menyerap air.

      Abstract: Abstract The increasing variety of benefits of the butterfly pea flower requires the availability of dried butterfly pea flowers to replace fresh butterfly pea flowers. A study has been carried out on "The Influence of Packaging Type and Storage Time on the Quality Characteristics of Dried Butterfly Pea Flower (clitoria ternatea). The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the type of packaging and storage time on the quality characteristics of dried butterfly pea flowers. The study was conducted using an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (RALF). Treatment of packaging types: K1 = PolyPropylene (PP) Plastic Packaging and K2 = Aluminum Foil (AF) Packaging. Storage time: L0= 0 days; L1= 7 days; L2= 14 days; L3=21 days. The research was conducted with 3 replications. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 20. Significantly different effects were tested by Duncan's test at the level of p=0.05. The results showed that the water content of the butterfly pea flower was 10.1% in the PP packaging and 9.7% in the AF packaging. Dried butterfly pea flowers contained a total phenol of 9.74 mg/g in PP packaging and 11.5 mg/g in aluminum foil packaging. IC50 values in PP and AF packaging were 242.7 and 224.4 ppm, respectively. The water content of the butterfly pea flowers increased significantly from 8.7% at 0 days of storage to 11.1% at 21 days of storage. Anthocyanin and flavonoid bioactive compounds were detected by positive tests up to 21 days of storage. The total phenol of the butterfly pea flower decreased significantly from 14.95 mg/g at 0 days of storage to 6.19 mg/g at 21 days of storage. IC50 value (antioxidant activity) increased from 140.1 ppm to 293.1 ppm during storage. Keywords: Butterfly pea flower, PolyPropylene and aluminium foil packaging, anthocyanin and phenol  AbstrakMeningkatnya ragam manfaat bunga telang menuntut tersedia bunga telang kering untuk menggantikan bunga telang segar.
