  • Peroxide production by porphyrins

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Nature Energy, Published online: 27 March 2023; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01230-x

Photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide synthesis is a green approach to produce this widely-used chemical and potential energy carrier, yet performance is often poor. A porphyrin-based photocatalyst is now shown to produce hydrogen peroxide by an unusual mechanism involving both photoexcited electrons and holes with promising efficiency.Nature Energy, Published online: 2023-03-27; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01230-x2023-03-27

  • A criterion for evaluating Li-dendrite-suppression capability for the
           design of solid electrolyte interphases

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Nature Energy, Published online: 20 March 2023; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01246-3

The critical interphase overpotential (CIOP) represents the capability of the interphase on solid-state electrolyte surfaces to suppress Li-dendrite penetration. An interphase with a high CIOP is shown to enable an all-solid-state Li-metal battery to operate at high current and high capacity.Nature Energy, Published online: 2023-03-20; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01246-32023-03-20

  • Transparent aerogels reduce energy loss through building windows

Nature Energy, Published online: 16 March 2023; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01229-4

Glass panes have been used in windows since the times of ancient Rome, but they exhibit poor thermal insulation. Aerogels made from silanized cellulose nanofibres are better thermal insulators and more transparent than glass, offering an approach to developing window products to reduce the loss of building heating and cooling energy.Nature Energy, Published online: 2023-03-16; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01229-42023-03-16

           efficiency of glazing in buildings

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Nature Energy, Published online: 16 March 2023; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01226-7

Windows are one of the least energy efficient parts of the building envelope because of poor thermal insulation. Abraham et al. develop a cellulose-based aerogel as a thermal barrier for windows that retains their optical properties.Nature Energy, Published online: 2023-03-16; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01226-72023-03-16

  • Critical interphase overpotential as a lithium dendrite-suppression
criterion for all-solid-state lithium battery design

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Nature Energy, Published online: 16 March 2023; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01231-w

The critical current density is generally used to evaluate dendrite-suppression capability in batteries. Here the authors propose a critical interphase overpotential descriptor for dendrite suppression and demonstrate high-performance solid-state battery design with the new descriptor.Nature Energy, Published online: 2023-03-16; doi:10.1038/s41560-023-01231-w2023-03-16
