  • Implementing Granular Access Definitions in Log Records

The technique relies on including an authorization token within each log record, which is generated using a signed JSON Web Token (JWT). Each authorization token embeds all factual information that lets the log viewers set these access constraints, either using an external access control list or applying an access control list outlined in the log management platform.
       
  • Approach to Methodology and Design Issues for a Customised Virtual
           Learning Environment (VLE) Model/Framework for the Universities in
           Developing Countries

IrhebhudeThe use of virtual learning environment for teaching and learning provision is one of the concepts that are changing the frontier of knowledge acquisition in today’s educational arena. The flexibility of online learning space can offer developing countries great opportunities in supporting varied learning methodologies. This study is about the development of customised VLE framework/model for use by higher institutions in the developing countries, particularly in Nigeria. However, in this paper, we examine only the methodological aspect of the entire research and context within which the current research study was situated. The paper starts by discussing the theoretical perspective underpinning the study and in that aspect provides constructivism as the adopted paradigm. The paper further examines epistemological principles and research design mechanism presented by [15] which includes four (4) principle elements that inform one another in the process of designing a study. These principles include; Epistemology, Theoretical perspective, Methodology and Methods: these are discussed within the methodological framework. This is followed by the identification of methods of data collection, research samples and professional ethics which are keys to the management of research study. This article further describes the fundamental concepts of validity, reliability and generalizability as applicable to this research and finally, presents the contribution of the research in the light of previous studies.
       
  • Resource Utilization Prediction Model for Efficient Dynamic Virtual
           Machine Consolidation in Cloud

DaudaVirtual Machine (VM) consolidation is an optimization approach for VM placement in cloud infrastructure, which is one of the effective ways to efficiently utilize cloud resources in order to optimize number of VM migrations, Service Level Agreement (SLA) violations and energy consumption problems. Static VM consolidation strategies have not been effective in handling variation of workloads in the cloud systems. Dynamic VM strategies have been proposed in the literatures. However, in the dynamic VM consolidation process, most existing algorithms consolidate active servers mainly based on the current resource requirements and forgo the demands of resources in the future during VM allocation. Thus, they result in needless VM migrations and cause high rate of SLA violations in data centers. This research proposed a prediction-based VM consolidation approach. The proposed method utilized a multi-resource utilization to predict the current and future CPU and memory utilization of active servers during allocation stage. The proposed method was compared with the existing one that did not consider future utilization of resources. CloudSim toolkit 3.0 simulator was used to implement and evaluate the performance of the algorithms. The proposed algorithm was found to have improved in terms of number of VM migrations and SLA violations. Using the number of hosts (400, 600, and 800), the proposed method was 28%, 32% and 38% decrease in number of VM migrations and 0.03243%, 0.03247% and 0.01474% decrease in SLA violations compared with the existing method, respectively. Recommendations and future directions were suggested for further improvements.
       
  • LSTM Network for Predicting Medium to Long Term Electricity Usage in
           Residential Buildings (Rikkos Jos-City, Nigeria)

It is estimated that buildings consume about 40% of the electricity supply. To minimize the gap between supply and demand, there is need for efficient load forecasting thus, new paradigms have to be implored using automated methods that can dynamically forecast the buildings’ energy consumption. A number of technique and computational approaches have been used recently in order to improve the prediction accuracy. These techniques as presented in the literature would likely have decreased accuracy in application if the weather in the future was significantly different from the weather that was concurrent with the training data. Thus, this research implements an improved model for medium to long term forecasting of electricity usage in residential buildings by using NARX with LSTM while also including weather data as a factor due to its influence and uncertainties to the prediction. The dataset was collected using smart software tools on smart meters and aggregated over 34 buildings in Rikkos Jos- City, Nigeria. The NARX network was built on the top layer of the LSTM neural network to inputs electricity and weather data concurrently to the network. The network was trained using Bayesian regularization back propagation algorithm. The proposed model was evaluated against state-of-the-art prediction techniques use in energy forecasting using RMSE, MAPE and R on Matlab 2018a. The experimental result shows that the proposed model not only curtail future impact of weather uncertainty but also outperforms the existing models in terms of accuracy and model fitting achieving a lower value in terms of RMSE and MAPE.
       
  • Barcode Detection of Video Images by Using MATLAB SIMULINK

Rakibul IslamThis paper introduces a strategy for smoothly barcode detection of low-quality video images by using MATLAB SIMULINK. The barcode scheme is used as one of the most useful tools for recognizing information about each product. The system can read barcodes via a video and the system can also record the video with a Simulink. Barcode technology is essential for self-acting identification and is used in a variety of real-time requests. There are different types of code and applications pose available in our daily life. Barcode detection is a constant need for solutions for improving performance. This simulation execution stage is the best required for reducing noise level system. Our intention is to detect the barcode position automatically, smoothly, confidently and strictly with the help of extracted image functions. We have the results and the project has been developed smoothly and perfectly. Our paper focuses on the real-time barcode detection from a low-quality video image with the help of MATLAB SIMULINK.
       
  • Designing Machine Learning Method for Software Project Effort Prediction

In software Industry when the size of the project and number of developers increases the project become complex, at this point accuracy prediction is strongly required during the early stages of project development. But to predict at early stages data and information are not available at the preliminary phases of project as well as the data is not complete, consistent and certain. In this research work we uses Artificial Neural network, Fuzzy logic, use case point model, modified environmental factor and revised use case point to predict software project effort at early stages. Artificial Neural Network has the ability to learn from previous data and fuzzy logic deals with uncertainty and also it provides a technique to deal with imprecision and information granularity. Also the modified environmental factor and revised use case point are used to determine the effort at early stage of the project development. In our experiment we compares each models, fitting accuracy using MMRE and PRED (0.25). The fitting accuracy of the models in terms of MMRE for Neuro-Fuzzy-UCBEM is 0.03, Neuro_UCBEM 0.13, Fuzzy-UCBEM 0.12 and UCBEM 0.22 and the fitting accuracy of the models in terms of Pred (0.25) for Neuro-Fuzzy-UCBEM is 1, Neuro_UCBEM 0.93, Fuzzy-UCBEM 0.93 and UCBEM 0.8. So our experiment result shows that Neuro-fuzzy logic model using revised use case point and modified environmental is best out performing model for software project development effort prediction at early stage than another models. Since the Neuro-fuzzy-UCBEM shows low value of MMRE (Mean of Magnitude of Relative Error) and high value prep (0.25) than Neuro-UCBEM, UCBEM and Fuzzy-UCBEM models.
       
  • Research and Simulation of UAV Security Strategy Based on A*BC Algorithm

Based on the security problems in UAV flight, this paper proposes an A*BC algorithm for its route planning. The artificial bee colony algorithm is used to improve the A* algorithm. Combined with the advantages of the two algorithms, the UAV can quickly reach the target point while avoiding obstacles.
       
  • Super Resolution of Medical Reconstructed Image Using Wavelet Transform

Ali Al-HayaniSuper resolution of the image is the process of obtaining high resolution image from low resolution imageShepp-Logan image for the medical image, has taken, of size (256×256), which has down sampled from size (512×512) using Bicubic interpolation, where the anti-aliased filter has used before down sampling process to use it as the input image to the algorithm to enlarge it to the output of the size (512×512) pixels. The results show increasing the PSNR of the magnified image with respect to the original high resolution image. Where we has used the discrete wavelet transform, lifting wavelet transform with stationary wavelet transform, the traditional interpolation (Bicubic, Bilinear...etc.) and second order derivative directional interpolation (ICBI, DCC) has used to enlarge the sub bands, where the results has stated that the proposed schemes has different reconstruction images in both the edges and smooth area. Therefore, we take the less differences with the original reconstructed image and regard it as the super resolution image and denoising the images with FIR filter to reach and note the small effects on the images with the helping of the image quality metrics (PSNR, CORR, MSE, SSIM).

Stakeholders in this area of study are usually at different levels of understanding due to many factors involved and speak different languages. There are number of problems associated with technology transfer processes in constrained resource settings such as lack of researchers in specific domains, motivation, bureaucratic climate, inability to make effective public investments, funding and inappropriate infrastructure, culture among many others. This research explores the above problems and others discussed by varies researchers in technology transfer and particularly those in Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework using Data analytics and System Dynamics modeling approaches. Data analytics will facilitate in developing a more promising and data rich System Dynamics model. The study will shed light on technical and social factors that lead to formulation of policies which enable accelerated technology transfers in constrained resource settings.
