  • Numerical Solutions for Coupled Trapezoidal Fully Fuzzy Sylvester Matrix

    • Abstract: Analyzing the stability of many control systems required solving a couple of crisp Sylvester matrix equations (CSMEs) simultaneously. However, there are some situations in which the crisp Sylvester matrix equations are not well equipped to deal with the uncertainty problem during the stability analysis of control systems. This paper constructs analytical and numerical methods for solving a couple of trapezoidal fully fuzzy Sylvester matrix equations (CTrFFSMEs) to overcome the drawbacks of the existing crisp methods. In developing these new methods, fuzzy arithmetic multiplication is applied on the CTrFFSME to transform it into an equivalent system of four CSMEs. Then, the fuzzy solution is obtained analytically by the fuzzy matrix vectorization method and numerically by gradient and least square methods. The analytical method can obtain the exact solution; however, it is limited to small-sized systems while the numerical methods can approximate the solution for large dimensional systems up to with a very small error bound for any initial value. In addition, the proposed methods are applied to other fuzzy systems such as Sylvester and Lyapunov matrix equations. The proposed methods are illustrated by solving numerical examples with different size systems.

  • On -Hesitant Fuzzy -Ideals of -Semigroups

    • Abstract: The notions of an -hesitant fuzzy -ideal and a -hesitant fuzzy -ideal, which are a generalization of an interval-valued fuzzy -ideal, of a -semigroup are introduced and some properties are investigated. Characterizations of the notions are provided in terms of sets, fuzzy sets, intuitionistic fuzzy sets, interval-valued fuzzy sets, and hesitant fuzzy sets. Furthermore, characterizations of a -ideal of a -semigroup are given in terms of -hesitant and -hesitant fuzzy -ideals.

  • Enhanced Fuzzy Delphi Method in Forecasting and Decision-Making

    • Abstract: The Delphi method is a process where subjective data are transformed into quasi-objective data using statistical analysis and are converged to stable points. The Delphi method was developed by the RAND Corporation at Santa Monica, California, and is widely used for long-range forecasting in management science. It is a method by which the subjective data of experts are made to converge using some statistical analyses. This article proposes a variation of the Delphi method using triangular fuzzy numbers, where the communication method with the experts is the same, but the estimation procedure is different. The utility of the method is illustrated by a numerical example.

  • Application of Choquet Integral-Fuzzy Measures for Aggregating
           Customers’ Satisfaction

    • Abstract: Choquet integral is a type of aggregation operator that is commonly used to aggregate the interrelated information. Nowadays, this operator has been successfully embedded with fuzzy measures in solving various evaluation problems. Inspired from this new development, this paper aims to introduce a combined Choquet integral-fuzzy measures (CI-FM) operator that uses the Shapley value standard and interaction index to deal with the interactions between elements of information. The proposed operator takes into account not only the importance of elements or their ordered positions but also the interaction among criteria during the evaluation process. A case of customers’ satisfaction over two fast restaurants in Malaysia is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed aggregation operator. Based on three customers’ satisfaction criteria, restaurant 1 and restaurant 2 received CI-FM scores of 0.711011 and 0.704945, respectively. Interestingly, the criterion “services” constantly received the highest rating across both restaurants. In addition, the proposed aggregation operator successfully identified which restaurant is superior in the eyes of customers. Finally, this study offers some research ideas for the future.

  • Fuzzy Annihilator Ideals of -Algebra

    • Abstract: In this paper, we introduce the concept of relative fuzzy annihilator ideals in C-algebras and investigate some its properties. We characterize relative fuzzy annihilators in terms of fuzzy points. It is proved that the class of fuzzy ideals of C-algebras forms Heything algebra. We observe that the class of all fuzzy annihilator ideals can be made as a complete Boolean algebra. Moreover, we study the concept of fuzzy annihilator preserving homomorphism. We provide a sufficient condition for a homomorphism to be a fuzzy annihilator preserving.

  • Exploring the Main Effect of e-Banking on the Banking Industry
           Concentration Degree on Predicting the Future of the Banking Industry: A
           Case Study

    • Abstract: Today, regarding the rapid growth of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), e-commerce, and the subsequent expansion of electronic banking, the banking market structure is also expected to dramatically be changed. This paper aims to explore the main effect of electronic banking on the structure of the Iranian banking industry by investigating the banking market concentration degree. To accomplish this aim, an intelligent hybrid model is developed based on multilayer perceptron neural network and fuzzy regression of the effects of banking on the relative electronic share of banks. In the developed method, the neural network parameters such as weights and errors have been considered as the fuzzy parameters to model it under uncertainty. Ultimately, the descriptive statistics are utilized to evaluate how the difference in relative size of banks concerning e-banking has changed, in addition to exploring the main effect of e-banking on the bank’s contribution described as a neural network-fuzzy regression model. Moreover, it shows how the concentration degree in the Iranian banking sector has been reduced. The implemented analysis of the reasons for this decrease reveals that the share of banks has decreased due to an increase in the share of the small banks. Furthermore, model estimation confirms that there exists a positive relationship between banks’ share and the use of electronic banking. Besides, the small banks have strongly been shown to utilize the e-banking so that it would lead to an increase in their share and a decrease in the concentration degree. As such, it can be concluded that e-banking has reduced the concentration degree in Iran. The descriptive statistics are employed to prove it.

  • On Fuzzy Fundamental Groups and Fuzzy Folding of Fuzzy Minkowski Space

    • Abstract: In this paper, we studied the relations between new types of fuzzy retractions, fuzzy foldings, and fuzzy deformation retractions, on fuzzy fundamental groups of the fuzzy Minkowski space . These geometrical transformations are used to give a combinatorial characterization of the fundamental groups of fuzzy submanifolds on . Then, the fuzzy fundamental groups of the fuzzy geodesics and the limit fuzzy foldings of are presented and obtained. Finally, we proved a sequence of theorems concerning the isomorphism between the fuzzy fundamental group and the fuzzy identity group.

  • Novel Generalized Divergence Measure on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Its

    • Abstract: In the present paper, we introduce a new parametric fuzzy divergence measure on intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Some properties of the proposed measure are also being studied. In addition, the application of the intuitionistic fuzzy divergence measure in decision making and consequently choosing the best medicines and treatment for the patients has also been discussed. There are some diseases for which vaccine is not available. In that case, we have devised a method to choose the best treatment for the patients based on the results of clinical trials.

  • Approximate Solution of Intuitionistic Fuzzy Differential Equations with
           the Linear Differential Operator by the Homotopy Analysis Method

    • Abstract: In this work, the purpose is to discuss the homotopy analysis method (HAM) for the use of intuitionistic fuzzy differential equations with the linear differential operator. Furthermore, a numerical example is presented to shed light on the capability of the present method, and the numerical results illustrated by adopting the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) are compared with the exact solution to ensure the validity of our outcomes.

  • P-Fuzzy Ideals and P-Fuzzy Filters in P-Algebras

    • Abstract: In this paper, we introduce the concept of p-fuzzy ideals and p-fuzzy filters in a p-algebra. We provide a set of equivalent conditions for a fuzzy ideal to be a p-fuzzy ideal and a p-algebra to be a Boolean algebra. It is proved that the class of p-fuzzy ideals forms a complete distributive lattice. Moreover, we show that there is an isomorphism between the class of p-fuzzy ideals and p-fuzzy filter.

  • Advanced Fuzzy-Logic-Based Traffic Incident Detection Algorithm

    • Abstract: This study demonstrates an incident detection algorithm that uses the meteorological and traffic parameters for improving the poor performance of the automatic incident detection (AID) algorithms under extreme weather conditions and for efficiently using the meteorological devices on advanced freeways. This algorithm comprises an incident detection module that is based on learning vector quantization (LVQ) and a meteorological influencing factor module. Field data are obtained from the Yuwu freeway in Chongqing, China, to verify the algorithm. Further, the performance of this algorithm is evaluated using commonly used criteria such as mean time to detection (MTTD), false alarm rate (FAR), and detection rate (DR). Initially, an experiment is conducted for selecting the algorithm architecture that yields the optimal detection performance. Additionally, a comparative experiment is performed using the California algorithm, exponential smoothing algorithm, standard normal deviation algorithm, and McMaster algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm proposed in this study is characterized by high DR, low FAR, and considerable suitability for applications in AID.

    • Abstract: This paper deals with constrained multistage machines flow-shop (FS) scheduling model in which processing times, job weights, and break-down machine time are characterized by fuzzy numbers that are piecewise as well as quadratic in nature. Avoiding to convert the model into its crisp, the closed interval approximation for the piecewise quadratic fuzzy numbers is incorporated. The suggested method leads a noncrossing optimal sequence to the considered problem and minimizes the total elapsed time under fuzziness. The proposed approach helps the decision maker to search for applicable solution related to real-world problems and minimizes the total fuzzy elapsed time. A numerical example is provided for the illustration of the suggested methodology.

  • Clustering and Fuzzy Logic-Based Demand-Side Management for Solar
           Microgrid Operation: Case Study of Ngurudoto Microgrid, Arusha, Tanzania

    • Abstract: Permanent electricity availability should not be taken for granted since grid sustainability and reliability are at stake when there is no balance between supply and demand. This paper employs a load balancing demand-side management (DSM) approach based on fuzzy logic, considering the low energy users who have insignificant influence on system peaks. Through the K-means clustering algorithm, suitable candidates for DSM are identified, and the control mechanism is based on energy utilization and load priority. The results reveal that about 3.7 kW in power saving was achieved per month. This result indicates that, with a proper energy management strategy for an individual customer, almost a flatter load profile and power saving can be achieved.

  • Generalized Ideals of BCK/BCI-Algebras Based on Fuzzy Soft Set Theory

    • Abstract: In the present paper, using Lukaswize triple-valued logic, we introduce the notion of -intuitionistic fuzzy soft ideal of -algebras, where are the membership values between an intuitionistic fuzzy soft point and intuitionistic fuzzy set. Moreover, intuitionistic fuzzy soft ideals with thresholds are introduced, and their related properties are investigated.

  • Designing an Intuitionistic Fuzzy Network Data Envelopment Analysis Model
           for Efficiency Evaluation of Decision-Making Units with Two-Stage

    • Abstract: Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a powerful tool for evaluating the efficiency of decision-making units for ranking and comparison purposes and to differentiate efficient and inefficient units. Classic DEA models are ill-suited for the problems where decision-making units consist of multiple stages with intermediate products and those where inputs and outputs are imprecise or nondeterministic, which is not uncommon in the real world. This paper presents a new DEA model for evaluating the efficiency of decision-making units with two-stage structures and triangular intuitionistic fuzzy data. The paper first introduces two-stage DEA models, then explains how these models can be modified with intuitionistic fuzzy coefficients, and finally describes how arithmetic operators for intuitionistic fuzzy numbers can be used for a conversion into crisp two-stage structures. In the end, the proposed method is used to solve an illustrative numerical example.
