  • Perbandingan Penambahan CMC dan Sorbitol dengan Penambahan Gelatin dan
           Gliserol terhadap Edible Film yang Terbuat dari Limbah Cair Tahu

      Abstract: The large number of small tofu industries do not have liquid waste treatment encourage the utilization of their whey become raw of edible film because its protein content. However using only protein as a raw material of edible film resulting brittle, fragile and rigid films. Accordingly, the addition of hydrocolloids such as CMC or gelatin to repair film structure and also addition of plasticizers such as sorbitol and glycerol to improve film elasticity. The aim of this study to determine the effect of ratio concentration CMC-Sorbitol and Gelatin-Glycerol from 1% : 1%, 1% : 3%, 1% : 5%, 3% : 1%, 3% : 3%, 3%: 5%, 5% : 1%, 5% : 3% to 5% : 5% (weight/volume) on the physical properties of whey based films. Film resulted good properties in accordance with the Japan Industrial Standard at using ratio CMC-Sorbitol 1%:3% and ratio Gelatin-Glycerol 3%:3%. Appearance of film with addition of Gelatin-Glycerol 3%:3% relatively more transparent and smooth compared to film with addition of CMC-Sorbitol 1%:3%. Micrograph of CMC-Sorbitol 1%:3% film surfaces observed rough and many cracks and very irregular in structures.

  • Penentuan Kandungan Etanol dalam Makanan dan Minuman Fermentasi
           Tradisional Menggunakan Metode Kromatografi Gas

      Abstract: Determination of alcohol content in food and beverage is needed for halal verification. Ethanol content in various food and beverage traditional products from fermentation was determined using the gas chromatography method with ethanol as standart and n-buthanol as internal standart. As comparison, measurement using alcohol meter were conducted. The GC measurement result were also compared with alcohol content printed on the packaging (value declared by the producer). The result showed that linear range in ethanol concentration was 1-10% with correlation coefficient (r) of  0.9984, indicated that GC has excellent linearity. Limit of detection was  0,5 ng, coefficient  variance (CV) was  ≤ 2%,  accuracy (K) was ≤ 5% and recovery was > 2%, indicated that  GC method has high sensitivity, accuracy, validity and recovery. Alcohol content in beer samples listed in the packaging was confirmed with GC measurement results. Anova test results showed  that the GC methods with  alcohol meter methods did not differ significantly so that the GC and alcohol meter methods can be used as a good alternative in determining the ethanol content in fermented foods and beverages as a support in halal verification.

  • Potensi Pembuatan Replika Tulang Berpori Menggunakan Template Ampas Tebu

      Abstract: Scaffold Hidroksiapatit dengan ukuran pori dari 400 nm sampai 4 mm dan porositas dalam kisaran 20%-97% telah diproduksi dengan menggunakan template alam dengan berbagai metode seperti replica method, direct foaming method, solvent casting katalisis, dan starch consolidation method. Pada artikel ini, kami meninjau pemrosesan natural template yang dapat digunakan untuk pembuatan hidrokdisiapatit dengan mempertimbangkan hasil yang diperoleh berupa ukuran pori, porositas, densitas, kuat tekan, dan hasil analisa uji in vitro serta in vivo. Pada akhirnya kami mengusulkan untuk membuat scaffold HA menggunakan Template Ampas tebu karena memiliki kuat tekan yang baik serta memilki kandungan silica yang cukup tinggi untuk mendukung kegiatan bioaktivitas hidroksiapatit.   • Pengaruh Lama Penyimpanan Ikan Sarden Kemasan Kaleng terhadap Kadar Logam
           Pb dan Cu

      Abstract: ABSTRACT Canned sardines (Sardinella sp.) are very practical because they can be stored for a long time and can reduce contamination of bacteria and microorganisms from outside. However, direct contact with canned packaging for a long time can cause heavy metal contamination. Therefore, heavy metal concentrations of Pb and Cu from canned sardines (Sardinella sp.) were determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. Samples of canned sardines (Sardinella sp.) digested using a mixture of  concentrated HNO3 and 15% H2O2 (3:1). The samples tested were canned sardines with a storage time of 36 months (A), 18 months (B) and 6 months (C) after production. The results of Pb metal analysis of canned sardines (Sardinella sp.) in samples A, B, and C were 0.807 mg/L; 0.512 mg/L; and 0.387 mg/L. The concentration of Pb metal obtained in all samples exceeded the threshold value set by BPOM, at 0.3 mg/L. The concentration of Cu in samples A, B, and C were 2.718 mg/L; 1.996 mg/L; and 1.240 mg/L respectively . The concentration of Cu in all samples was still below the limit set by BPOM at 5 mg/L. The t-test statistic showed that there were significant differences in the concentration of Pb and Cu metals for the three types of samples (t-count>t-table). It can be concluded that storage time affects the concentration of Pb and Cu metals in canned sardines (Sardinella sp.). The longer sardines were stored in cans, the Pb and Cu metal concentrations would increase.

  • Nanofikasi Fraksi Tanah Gambut untuk Modifikator Nanomagnetit/AH-Kitosan
           sebagai Kandidat Penanggulangan Pencemaran Zat Warna

      Abstract: The nanomagnetite/HA-Chitosan adsorbent has been successfully synthesized by the co-precipitation method. HA was synthesized from the peat soils of Geragai village, Tanjung Jabung Timur, Jambi province and chitosan isolated from marine animal shell waste around the city of Jambi. The results of FT-IR analysis showed that nanomagnetite/AH-chitosan has a spectra which was combination of the characteristic spectra of magnetite, HA and chitosan. Morphological analysis using SEM showed that nanomagnetite/AH-chitosan was in the form of fractal agglomerates. TEM image of magnetite/AH-chitosan showed that magnetite/AH-chitosan has nano scale magnetite core particles with a size between 4-22 nm. Crystallinity analysis showed that magnetite/AH-chitosan has 2θ characteristics of magnetite i.e., 30.1°, 35.4°, 43.1°, 57.0°, 62.68° and 74.5°. The magnetic saturation strength (Ms) decreased from 80.23 (magnetite) to 30.63 (magnetite/AH-chitosan) due to the coating of AH-chitosan on magnetite which was still effectively attracted by the external magnet with 96% effectiveness of adsorption of 25 mL Methylene Blue 10 mg/L.

  • Pembuatan Plastik Biodegradable dari Pati biji Durian dan Pati Biji Nangka

      Abstract: Durian seeds and jackfruit seeds are agricultural waste containing high starch, which can be used as raw material for biodegradable plastic. The purpose of this research was to get the best formulation on the making of biodegradable plastic based on starch of durian seed and starch of jackfruit seed with addition of beeswax. This research was conducted experimentaly by using complete randomized design (CRD) which consists of five treatments and three replications, thus analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatments in this research were P1 (starch of jackfruit seed 5%), P2 (starch of durian seed 1,25% : starch of jackfruit seed 3,75%), P3 (starch of durian seed 2,5% : starch of jackfruit seed 2,5%), P4 (starch of durian seed 3,75% : starch of jackfruit seed 1,25%), and P5 (starch of durian seed 5%) in formulation of biodegradable plastic. The best treatment was P2 which has a thickness of 0,76 mm, water resistance of 59,19%, water vapor transmission rate of 4,53 g/cm2/h, tensile strength of 21,57 MPa, and elongation of 6,58%.

  • Mempelajari Senyawa Mirisitrin Dengan Penambahan Substituen NH2, NO2, dan
           CH3 Sebagai Inhibitor Korosi Menggunakan Metode Density Fuctional Theory
           (DFT)

      Abstract: Corrosion inhibition ability myricitrin compound (M1) with the addition of NH2 (M2), NO2 (M3), and CH3 (M4) on the metal surface has been studied using Fuctional Density Theory (DFT) with a base set of B3LYP / 6-31G (d, p). Parameters obtained from the optimization result are the value EHOMO, ELUMO and dipole moment. Of the value EHOMO and ELUMO obtained and calculated the value of the energy gap (AE), ionization potential (IP), electron affinity (EA), electronegativity (χ), hardness (η), softness (σ), electron transfer (ΔN), and electrophilicity (ω). Computational calculations show that the compound M4 has the best corrosion inhibition ability.       Abstract: Research on the synergistic effect of jambu bol leaves extract and iodide on the corrosion of mild steel in acid solution has been carried out by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization measurements, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) characterization. The inhibition efficiency increased with increasing iodide concentration and temperature. The highest inhibition efficiency was 92.05% in inhibitor of 5 g / L jambu bol leaves extract with the addition of 0.08 g / L of iodide. Adsorption of jambu bol leaves extract and iodide following the Langmuir isotherm adsorption. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements show the combination of jambu bol leaves inhibitor and iodide was a type of mixture inhibitor in hydrochloric acid solution. The synergistic effect of guava bol extract and potassium iodide was studied using thermodynamic and kinetic parameters.   Keywords: Jambu bol leaves, corrosion inhibitor, weight loss, synergistic effect, Langmuir isotherm
