  • Influence of Modification of Zn-Mg(Zr)Si Oxide Systems by Sodium and
           Potassium on their Catalytic Properties in the Process of Obtaining
           1,3-Butadiene from Ethanol

      Abstract: The effect of alkali metal ions (Na+ or K+) on the acid–base and catalytic properties of Zn-Mg(Zr)Si oxide systems in the process of obtaining 1,3-butadiene from ethanol was studied. It was found that the modification of Zn-MgSi oxide systems promotes an increase in the 1,3-butadiene selectivity (at temperatures ≥670 K) by reducing the number of formation sites of by-products. In the composition of Zn-ZrSi oxide systems, alkali metal cation additives lead to a decrease in the ethene and diethyl ether selectivity due to a decrease in the content of strong acid sites that are active in the ethanol dehydration reaction.

      Abstract: Enantioselective construction methods of chiral derivatives of α-tertiary amines using acyclic and cyclic trifluoromethylketimines are considered. The importance of a trifluoromethyl group in the structure of ketimine substrates for effective asymmetric addition of C-nucleophilic reagents in the presence of metal complex catalysts or organocatalysts is emphasized. The practical application of these chiral products in medicinal chemistry is covered.

  • Photocatalytic C(sp3)–H Activation of Aliphatic Amines by Using
           Decatungstate Anion to Obtain Aminoacids

      Abstract: The possibility of photocatalytic C(sp3)–H activation of aliphatic amines with the participation of decatungstate anion and their subsequent interaction with an acrylic acid ester has been demonstrated. Irradiation of reaction mixtures containing an aliphatic amine in the form of trifluoroacetic acid salt, acrylic acid tert-butyl ester, and sodium decatungstate Na4W10O32 or tetra-n-butylammonium has been shown to result in the formation of branched-chain amino acid esters.

  • Anomalous Increase in Ionic Conductivity in Peo-Containing System
           Segmented Polyurethane – Segmented Oligourethane with LiClO4

      Abstract: A method of obtaining a solid polymer electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries based on polyethylene oxide-containing (PEO) supramolecularly organized system segmented polyurethane – segmented oligourethane with LiClO4(PUU-OUU-LiClO4) is proposed. The introduction of LiClO4 into PUU-OUU leads to an extreme increase in the glass transition temperature and ionic conductivity by 1 and 2 orders of magnitude when compared to OUU-LiClO4 and PUU-LiClO4 systems (up to 2.0·10–4 S/cm at 60°C), respectively, which is associated with a change in the lithium-ion transport mechanism.

  • Properties of Hierarchy Zeolite Obtained From Obsidian and Perlite

      Abstract: A method for obtaining hierarchical BEA, MOR, MFI, MTW, and GIS zeolites and nanocomposites by partial recrystallization of perlite and obsidian in the presence of polyquaternary ammonium salts, which act as structure-directing agents, is proposed. The obtained materials are characterized by a developed specific surface, the presence of Lewis (up to 98 μmol/g) and Bronsted (5-105 μmol/g) acid sites and show catalytic activity in the process of 1,1-diethoxyethane production from acetaldehyde and ethanol.

  • Influence of Vanadium Doping on the Activity of Nanocomposite
           Electrocatalysts Based on Molybdenum Carbide and Reduced Graphene Oxide in
           the Process of Hydrogen Evolution from Water

      Abstract: It has been found that pyrolysis of hybrid precursors containing polypyrrole, H4PVMo11O40, and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) contributes to the production of nanocomposites based on V-doped Mo2C and N,P-doped rGO, which are promising electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). It has been shown that vanadium doping increases the activity of electrocatalysts in HER (both in acidic and alkaline electrolytes) when compared to the analog obtained by unsubstituted H3PMo12O40. In particular, it is manifested in a significant reduction of hydrogen evolution overpotential, anodic displacement of a process onset potential, and reduction of a Tafel slope dependence.

      Abstract: An original approach to the creation of new nanocomposite anode materials based on PbO2 and to the processes of composite formation due to the influence of selective adsorption of valve metal oxides and different types of surfactants on both electrochemical and colloid-chemical processes in the near-electrode zone is considered. It is shown that variation of deposition electrolyte composition, current density, and temperature allows one to change the content of additives in composites and to provide control of morphology, texture, phase composition, physicochemical properties, electrocatalytic activity, and selectivity of electrocatalysts based on PbO2 in target processes.

  • Influence of Acid–Base Characteristics of Hierarchical Cu/Zr-MTW
           Zeolites on their Catalytic Properties in 1,3-Butadiene Production from
           Ethanol–Water Mixtures

      Abstract: The nature of mineralizing agent (HF, NH4F) and the Si/F ratio in the synthesis conditions is found to affect the formation of Zr- and Cu-containing acid sites on the surface of zirconium-containing hierarchical zeolites (Cu/Zr-MTW) modified by copper (2 wt.%). It is shown that in the conversion of 50 and 80 vol.% ethanol the highest yield of 1,3-butadiene is achieved in the presence of Cu/Zr-MTW (NH4F, Si/F = 4) catalyst, which is characterized by higher total surface acidity according to TPD-NH3.

      Abstract: It is shown that C4-C6 hydrocarbons and magnetite with an average particle size of 43 nm are products of low-temperature hydrogenation of iron carbonate, which is formed in the process of CO2 capturing by iron oxides at 250°C and high hydrogen pressure.

  • Conversion of Rapeseed Oil to Biodiesel on KF/γ-Al2O3 CATALYST

      Abstract: It is shown that the KF/γ-Al2O3 catalyst obtained by the sol–gel method has a greater activity in the process of transesterification of methanol and rapeseed oil to biodiesel compared to KF/γ-Al2O3 prepared by impregnation. The highest yield of biodiesel (96.5%) is achieved with use of KF/γ-Al2O3, prepared at molar ratio KF to γ-Al2O3 1.3:1. High conversion of rapeseed oil to biodiesel is explained by the relatively high basicity and specific surface of KF/γ-Al2O3.

  • Energy Storage Technologies Based on Electrochemical Double Layer
           Capacitors: A Review

      Abstract: Modern design approaches to electric energy storage devices based on nanostructured electrode materials, in particular, electrochemical double layer capacitors (supercapacitors) and their hybrids with Li-ion batteries, are considered. It is shown that hybridization of both positive and negative electrodes and also an electrolyte increases energy density of an electrochemical system, thus, filling the gap between supercapacitors and batteries in terms of specific energy and power, as well as charge rate and the number of charge-discharge cycles.

  • Electro-Optical Properties of Polymethacrylate with a Covalently Bound Azo

      Abstract: The possibility of target control of the electro-optical properties of polymethacrylate with covalently bound azobenzene chromophores in a side chain by introducing metal ions capable of chromophore coordination, acceptor substituents that change the dipole moment of an azobenzene fragment, and organic dyes that expand the range of light absorption of azobenzene chromophore were considered. The mechanism of action of these factors was analyzed.

  • Chitosan-Modified Palladium Catalysts in Hydrogenation of n-Hex-2-Yne

      Abstract: The catalytic activity of chitosan-containing palladium catalysts in the hydrogenation reaction of n-hex-2-yne was studied. The most active was the catalyst with [Pd]:[chitosan] molar ratio = 1:1.3. The hydrogenation rate on this catalyst was five times higher than that of similar catalyst with [Pd]:[chitosan] ratio = 1:3.3. Modification of the active catalyst with silver resulted in increasing the selectivity of the process for cis-hex-2-ene up to 96%.

  • Solid Phase Luminescence and Thermal Transformations of Palladium(II)
           Complexes with 3-(2-Pyridyl)-1,2,4-Triazoles

      Abstract: The thermal behavior and luminescent properties of palladium(II) Pd(LR)2 complexes with 3-(2-pyridyl)-5-R-1,2,4-triazoles (LR , where R = H, Ph, Me) in cristalline state were studied. Analysis of the stationary and time-resolved Pd(LMe)2 photoluminescence spectra showed that the introduction of electron–donor methyl substituent into a coordinated ligand is accompanied by emission in the green range of the spectrum (fluorescence, λmax = 442 nm). Molecule aggregation in Pd(LH)2 and Pd(LPh)2 complexes leads to a bathochromic shift of emission (phosphorescence, 𝜆max = 712 and 691 nm).

  • Structural Characteristics of Graphene Oxide Reduced by Hydrazine and
           Hydrogen

      Abstract: The composition of functional groups, morphology, defect structure, and surface fractal dimension DS of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) synthesized by reduction of graphene oxide by hydrazine hydrate and heat treatment under hydrogen atmosphere at 400°C are considered. The obtained materials were studied by scanning electron microscopy, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, and elemental analysis. It was found that the synthesis method does not affect the fractal dimension of the RGO surface, which is DS = 2.5-2.7 on a scale of 0.4 nm-120 μm.

  • Effect of Confinement on Structural and Spectral Characteristics of
           Composites of CsPbX3 Halide Perovskite Nanoparticles with Zeolites of
           Faujasite Structure

      Abstract: CsPbBr3–zIz/Y(X) nanocomposites based on FAU (Y and X) zeolites and halide perovskite nanoparticles (HP NP) with CsPbBr3–zIz composition (z = 0 or 1.8) are prepared. The dependence of HP NP content on the SiO2:Al3O2 ratio in the parent zeolite and the formation of composite nanorods regardless of zeolite type in the case of iodine-containing HP due to the directional growth of CsPbBr1.2I1.8 crystals towards the (110) plane are shown. It is found that CsPbBr3–zIz/Y(X) materials are characterized by a significantly greater lifetime and intensity of photoluminescence in comparison with individual HP due to confinement effect. Highly stable films of CsPbBr3–zIz/Y(X)@Sil (z = 0 or 1.8) nanocomposites in silicone, which are characterized by a significant reduction of the luminescence band width, which is associated with the effect of silicone polymer on halide-ion exchange in HP, are prepared. It is shown that the color rendering index could be increased up to 95, while the partial index R9 could be increased up to 99 at correlated color temperature of ~4500 K when using CsPbBr1.2I1.8/X@Sil in white light emitting diodes.

  • Photocatalytic Air Decontamination from Volatile Organic Pollutants Using
           Graphite-Like Carbon Nitride: a Review

      Abstract: The latest research on photocatalytic systems based on graphite-like carbon nitride (g-C3N4) for decontamination of air pollutants, in particular, volatile organic compounds, such as alkanes, alkenes, aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, and other substances is considered. The photocatalytic properties of g-C3N4, modified by organic and inorganic compounds doped with metal ions, as well as binary and ternary composites based on g-C3N4 with the participation of metals, their oxides, metalates, phosphates, and sulfides, are discussed. The prospects of further research in the field of photocatalysis are outlined.

  • Tetracycline Adsorption onto Agave Americana Activated Carbon: Studies of
           Physicochemical Parameters and Porous Structure

      Abstract: The isotherms of adsorption of tetracycline on activated carbon obtained from Agave Americana fibers were analyzed using the method of statistical physics. It was shown that the adsorption of tetracycline molecules on such coal was a multimolecular process. The share of tetracycline molecules that filled the sites of the first type was 2-5 times higher than the second, because the adsorption energy in the sites of the first type was 0.6-2 kJ/mol lower (at temperatures of 298-323 K, respectively). Using the dispersion equation, it was shown that the tetracycline molecules were adsorbed in the micropores and mesopores of activated carbon with a pore size lower than 2 nm.

  • Physical-Chemical Properties of Nanosized Cerium Dioxide Synthesized via
           Different Methods for Biomedical Application

      Abstract: A series of CeO2 nanoparticles was synthesized by precipitation in reverse microemulsions in the presence of mixed aqueous–alcoholic solutions at variable and constant medium pH. It is shown that these methods promote the formation of non-agglomerated CeO2 particles with a size less than 15 nm. TEM and XPS methods showed that the ratio of Ce3+ /Ce4+ ions increases on the surface when the size of CeO2 nanoparticles is decreased. The synthesized CeO2 nanoparticles show high stability in aqueous suspensions without using additional stabilizers (𝜁 > +35 mV), which is important for medical and biological application.
