  • Synthesis of Selenium Nanoparticles Stabilized by Quaternary Ammonium
           Compounds

      Abstract: The results of the synthesis of selenium nanoparticles stabilized with quaternary ammonium compounds are presented. It has been shown that the increase in the content of quaternary ammonium compounds in the solution during synthesis changes the mechanism of stabilization of selenium nanoparticles and affects the sign as well as the value of the colloidal particles charge. At low concentrations of the quaternary ammonium compounds, stabilization has occurred via electrostatic mechanism and has led to the formation of spherical particles with excess negative charge. At high concentrations of the quaternary ammonium compounds, stabilization has occurred via electrosteric mechanism and has afforded spherical particles with excess positive charge, the stabilizer layer thickness being of 10 to 40 nm depending on the quaternary ammonium compound nature.

      Abstract: The paper considers the regularities of the processes of fixing dispersed dyes on fabrics under conditions of sublimation printing, depending on the nature of the modifiers used for the preliminary processing of textile materials. The authors determined the optimal conditions for thermal transfer of dyes to fabric, selected the most effective modifiers that provide the highest color yield on fabrics, durability of dyes and achieve environmental safety of products.

  • Influence of the Mixing Method on the Structure and Properties of Blends
           Based on Polyethylene and Copolymers of Ethylene

      Abstract: The paper presents the results of mixing and dispersing binary mixtures of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer) and mixtures with polyethylene, carried out using the anti-solvent method (SEDS). The melting and crystallization kinetics in polymer blends obtained by mixing in a melt and using the SEDS method have been investigated. It was found by X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) methods that the crystallization of polymer blends by the SEDS method leads to an increase in the degree of crystallinity. The results of the study of the physical and mechanical characteristics of the mixtures under study are presented.

  • Increasing the Extreme Values of the Strength of Organoplastics by
           Treating the Aramid Fiber with Multilayer Carbon Nanotubes

      Abstract: The results of experiments aimed at increasing the strength of single filaments of a copolymer para-aramid fiber via treatment with multilayer carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were presented. The experiments were carried out at the production unit of AO NPP Termoteks. Multilayer carbon nanotubes produced by the Ural Research Institute of Composite Materials were used. MWCNTs were oxidized with a mixture of concentrated nitric and sulfuric acid. After rinsing to remove the acids the oxidized multilayer nanotubes were dispersed into an aqueous suspension via sonication. The resultant suspension was stable enough to be used in technological experiments at industrial production units. The Weibull distribution parameters for the arrays of the experimental data on the strength of the filaments of the original fiber and of those of the MWCNT-treated fiber sample were determined. Using the results obtained, the ultimate strength values were calculated by the Kelly-Tyson method for the composites made from the fiber samples tested. The extreme value of the strength of the unidirectional composite material based on the original fiber was 5.699 GPa, and that of the composite made from the fiber treated with the oxidized multilayer nanotubes, 6.270 GPa, thereby indicating a 10.2% increase. The results obtained show that the strength properties of both the fiber and the fiber-based composite can be improved without significant modernization of the cost-intensive chemical technology of para-aramid fiber, which highlights the technical and economic prospects associated with this direction.

      Abstract: The possibility of designing a highly efficient multiphase piezoceramic composite material for use in precision displacement actuators was explored. The aim of the study was to obtain a piezoceramic material with optimal characteristics based on two ferroelectric compositions. The research objective was to test the obtained piezoceramic material for consolidation by the sintering process. The performance testing of the obtained material was carried out with the use of multilayer actuators.

  • Solvent Molecules as Ligands in Coordination Compounds of Metals with
           Boron Cluster Anions and Their Derivatives (A Review)

      Abstract: This study summarizes the literature data on the synthesis and structure of coordination compounds of alkali and alkaline earth metals, a series of M(I), M(II) transition metals, and rare earth elements with solvent molecules and boron cluster anions and their derivatives as ligands. The considered group of compounds has been classified in view of the nature of the coordinating solvent molecules as well as the position of boron cluster anions and their derivatives in the inner coordination sphere of the metal or the outer sphere. It has been shown that boron cluster anions and their derivatives are coordinated by metal atoms along with the solvent molecules via the three-center two-electron bonds in the presence of the Pearson’s soft acid metals [copper(I), silver(II), and lead(II)], forming the coordination polyhedrons. The possibility of the formation of mixed-ligand complexes due to the completion of the metal coordination polyhedron with the BH groups of the boron cluster has been revealed for the nonclassical complex-forming metals during the thermal treatment of the aqua complexes or the complexes with alcohol molecules as ligands, [ML6][BnHn] (M = Ca, Mg, Co, and Ni).

      Abstract: The review considers works published over the past 5 years on the synthesis, modifications, and application of chiral catalysts based on squaramides in organic synthesis. The data are grouped by types of reactions catalyzed by squaramide organocatalysts: Michael, Mannich, Pictet–Spengler, Friedel–Crafts, Henry reactions, aldol condensation, cycloaddition. For each reaction, a mechanism is considered that demonstrates the catalytic effect of squaramide organocatalysts.

      Abstract: Two phenylboronic ester derivatives, 2-{2-[(4-methoxyphenoxy)methyl]phenyl}-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (A) and N-(4-methoxybenzyl)-2-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzenamine (B), have been synthesized and their single crystals grown from hexane and petroleum ether. The conformation analysis data demonstrate that the molecular structure optimized by DFT is consistent with the crystal structure determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. Their molecular electrostatic potentials, Hirshfeld surface analysis and 2D fingerprint have been studied, revealing some physical and chemical properties of the compounds.

      Abstract: The extraction of lanthanides(III), uranium(VI), and thorium(IV) ions from nitric acid solutions with diphenyl(dibutylcarbamoylmethyl)phosphine oxide solutions significantly increases in the presence of ionic liquids, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium dialkylsulfosuccinates, in the organic phase. The dependence of the ionic liquid distribution between the organic and aqueous phases on the concentrations of the ionic liquid and nitric acid was studied. The stoichiometry of the extracted complexes of lanthanides(III), uranium(VI), and thorium(IV) was determined by the equilibrium shift method. The influence of the length of alkyl radicals in the ionic liquid anionic part and the HNO3 concentration in the aqueous phase on the efficiency of metal ions extraction into the organic phase containing the ionic liquid was considered.

      Abstract: Tetrazole-containing 1,5,6,7-tetrahydro-4H-indazol-4-ones were synthesized by condensation of 2-(tetrazolylacetyl)cyclohexane-1,3-diones with phenyl- or 4-fluorophenylhydrazines in ethanol at room temperature. Structure of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by 1H, 13C, 19F NMR spectroscopy methods. Cytotoxic activity of the series of obtained compounds was investigated in vitro against human laryngeal cancer cells Hep2.

  • A Dendrimer: Concise Synthesis and Its Optical Properties

      Abstract: In this paper, we report a new 5 steps synthetic method for a poly(phenylethynyl)benzene dendrimer of 40% total yield. The inexpensive materials, efficient route and simple manipulations are feasible for further preparation of functionalized derivatives. Photoluminescence properties of the product have been studied by steady-state spectroscopy and transient spectroscopy in a series of solvents. Subsequent DFT simulation supports further study of its photophysical properties and molecular configuration. The dendrimer has excellent bipolar electrochemiluminescence properties.

      Abstract: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) kinase is a promising target for the development of novel anticancer drugs. Based on the structure-activity relationships for the known inhibitors, 3,9-diazatetraasteranes have been developed as novel EGFR inhibitors. Molecular docking is performed for 3,9-diazatetraasteranes and the known inhibitor Erlotinib, and it suggests that 3,9-diazatetraasteranes are similar to Erlotinib in interactions with the catalytic sites of EGFR. A series of 3,9-diazatetraasteranes has been synthesized by photocyclization of 4-aryl-1,4-dihydropyridines, and their biological activity has been evaluated against A431 and HepG2 cell lines using Erlotinib as a control. Compound 1c exhibits the most potent antiproliferative activity against A431 (IC50 = 7.37 μM) and HepG2 (IC50 = 9.81 μM) cell lines compared to positive controls (IC50 = 8.92 μM and 12.08 μM). The results are indicating that 3,9-diazatetraasteranes may be the promising potential EGFR inhibitors.

           5-Amino-3-(cyanomethyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile with Some
           1,3-Dielectrophilic Agents

      Abstract: 5-Amino-3-(cyanomethyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile enters into condensation reactions with β-diketones and dibenzalacetone to form 2-(cyanomethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carbonitrile derivatives. The reaction with cyanoguanidine in an acid medium leads to the formation of 2,4-diamino-7-(cyanomethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a][1,3,5]triazine-8-carbonitrile. Structure of the obtained compounds was confirmed by spectral data, as well as the results of a quantum chemical study of possible reaction routes for the reaction of 5-amino-3-(cyanomethyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile with benzoyltrifluoroacetone. Bioavailability parameters were predicted for the obtained products in silico, and possible protein targets were predicted by protein-ligand docking.

  • Mineralogical Composition of Kyzylkum Washed Dry Concentrate and Its
           Processing into Simple Superphosphate

      Abstract: The various types of phosphate minerals of the apatite group have been analyzed. The phosphate substance of phosphorites except fluorapatite, can be represented by fluorocarbon apatite—francolite or kurskite. The highest phosphorus content is found in fluorapatite, and the lowest in kurskite. In terms of the unit cell parameters (а0 = 9.33 Å), the phosphate mineral of granular phosphorites of the Kyzylkum desert is francolite. The mineralogical composition of the washed dried concentrate, a granular type of phosphorites of the Central Kyzyl Kum, was studied by X-ray and chemical methods of research. It has been established that the main phosphate mineral of granular phosphorites of the Kyzyl Kum is francolite. Calcite, dolomite, gypsum, quartz, calcium silicate, etc. are present as gangue. The rate of sulfuric acid for the decomposition of washed dried concentrate (25.75% P2O5) in terms of obtaining simple superphosphate (at least 17% P2O5) has been calculated. A distinctive feature of the proposed in-line method over the classical one (chamber) is that the entire production cycle of natural phosphate processing is carried out in two stages. At the first stage, the phosphate raw material is treated with a stoichiometric consumption of concentrated sulfuric acid (at least 93%), under conditions of complete decomposition of the washed dried concentrate with the formation of phosphoric acid and anhydrite crystals (calcium sulfate). The reaction temperature is 130°C. At the second stage, the resulting concentrated solution of phosphoric acid in a mixture with sulfuric acid participates in the reaction with an additional introduced amount of washed dried concentrate, which is the basis of the mechanism of chemical formation of monocalcium phosphate and granulation of superphosphate mass. On comparison to the conventional flowsheet, the process excludes the stages of warehouse maturation, ammonization and drying of the product.

  • Synthesis and Evaluation of PEGylation of Poly(acrylate-maleic anhydride)
           as a Demulsifier for Crude Oil Emulsions

      Abstract: In this study an amphiphilic polymer has been designed, produced and evaluated. Poly(butylacrylate-maleic anhydride) (PBMA) has been prepared and modified by monomethoxypolyethylene glycol (PEG) with formation of an amphiphilic polymer (PEG–PBMA). Demulsification efficiency of PEG–PBMA and commercially available chemical demulsifiers has been studied in a simulated heavy crude oil emulsion (Liaohe Oil Field) by the bottle test method. The results demonstrate that demulsification efficiency of PEG–PBMA, AE-121, TA-1031, and SP-169 can reach 86.6, 76.4, 68.0, and 54.6%, respectively. The studies have revealed that PEG–PBMA can find potential application as efficient demulsifier for breaking crude oil emulsion, especially for heavy crude oil emulsions.

  • Synthesis and Anticancer Activity of Some New 4-Azaindoleisoxazoles

      Abstract: Herein, synthesis of new 4-azaindole-1,2,4-isoxazoles by Cu(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of [4-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)piperazin-1-yl](1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridin-3-yl)methanone with several aromatic aldehydes is presented. All products have been tested for their in vitro anticancer activity against three human cancer cell lines including A549 (lung), A375 (melanoma) and MCF7 (breast). The results of the tests indicate that two products are highly active against all cell lines with the activity superior to that of the standard doxorubicin. Also two products demonstrate inhibitory activity against tyrosine kinase EGFR higher than that of Erlotinib.

      Abstract: One-pot methods were developed for the preparation of 6-amino-3-isopropyl-7-aryl substituted-8-thioxo(oxo)pyrano[3,4-c]pyridines derivatives. The latter served as starting materials for the synthesis of a new pyrano[4′,3′:4,5]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine heterosystems. The proposed mechanisms of one-pot reactions were presented. Antitumor activity of new synthesized compounds was predicted by in silico methods.

  • New Hydrophobic Materials Based on Radiation-Synthesized Telomeres of
           Tetrafluoroethylene and Melamine Sponge

      Abstract: Melamine-formaldehyde resins are widely used in the production of various technical and household products. By foaming a special resin, it is possible to obtain various foam plastics, including melamine sponges (MS), which, due to their unusual mesh structure and properties, absorb and wash away contamination quite well and have well-pronounced abrasive characteristics. The area of application of melamine sponges can be significantly expanded by their modification. Radiation-synthesized telomeres of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) are of considerable interest for MS modification, as they make it possible to create protective hydrophobic coatings on various materials and products. This work presents the results of studies of the MS hydrophobization process, using TFE telomeres, synthesized in acetone and the binary solvent of freon 113 + ammonia. The composition and structure of hydrophobized melamine sponges have been studied by the methods of X-ray photoelectron and Raman spectroscopy, optical and scanning electron microscopy. It is shown that the treatment with tetrafluoroethylene telomere solutions makes it possible to give the initial hydrophilic material a highly hydrophobic state, characterized by a contact angle of wetting of the order of 135°–140°. This treatment significantly improves the performance characteristics and expands the practical application possibilities of melamine sponges. The morphology and composition of the modified samples have been studied. It is shown that the telomere can exist in two different states in the MS spatial network: closely bound and loosely bound fractions. The loosely bound fraction can be removed mechanically, the closely bound fraction remains on the MS surface even after several treatments with solvents, ensuring the stability of the hydrophobic properties of the sponge.
