Abstract: ABSTRACTWhale sharks are often found in locations near the coast or river mouths. The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is one of three species of whales whose feeding habits are carried out by sucking and filtering (filter feeders). The purpose of this study was to calculate the population and size, determine the presence of wounds and measure some water quality (temperature, pH and salinity). The method used is to use the photo ID method which aims to distinguish between individuals from one another and direct or visual monitoring methods to record the presence of injuries, gender and behavior of whale sharks. A total of 20 individuals have been identified at the time of carrying out the research, 2 of which are new individuals or have never been identified before with an average length of 4 – 6.8 meters (juvenile category). The smallest size is 4 meters while the longest reaches 6.8 meters. All identified individuals were male and had wounds on the fins and tail. The water quality measured was still optimal for the presence of whale sharks (temperature ranged from 28-30 oC; pH 7 and salinity ranged from 28-30 0/00).Keywords: Botubarani Waters, monitoring, population, whale sharksABSTRAKHiu paus sering dijumpai di lokasi dekat pantai atau muara-muara sungai.
           Perairan Laut Banda

    • Authors: Try Al Tanto, Riswanto Riswanto
      Pages: 270 - 279
Abstract: ABSTRACTMap of sea surface temperature is very important in the science of oceanography, some phenomena in the ocean can be seen by using it globally. One of them is in the form of upwelling events that occur in the Banda Sea, besides that, IOD and ENSO phenomena can occur because they are close to the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Time series analysis is used to predict possible phenomena that can occur in long SST variable data. The Fourier Transform analysis obtained from the study of sea surface temperature data produces temperature signals for the dominant annual (annual) and semi-annual (6 months) periods. The ENSO phenomenon also affects temperature variations that occur in the waters of the Banda Sea with the visible signal of the inter-annual period (2.8 years). The application of the SVD-based EOF method to SST data produces a dominant EOF mode which indicates that Arafura waters play a role in influencing the SST cycle that occurs in the Banda Sea.Keywords: sea surface termperature, EOF methods, time series analysis, fourier analysis, Banda SeaABSTRAKPeta suhu permukaan laut sangat penting dalam ilmu oseanografi, beberapa fenomena di laut dapat terlihat dengan menggunakannya secara global.
