  • Standards of Modern education in the light of Educational Services of sir
           Syed Ahmad khan

    • Authors: Dr. Shahina kausar, Prof Dr Farida Azim Lodhi
Abstract: Sir Sayyad Ahmad Khan was one of the most prominent personalities of the Muslim era who devoted his life to the cause of nation building and edification of the people of the sub-continent. The time of Sir Sayyad Ahmad Khan was a very troubled era for the Muslims dwelling in the sub-continent. He left no stone unturned in his endeavor for the preservation and spread of education. He made it the sole aim of his life and hence devoted it completely towards that end.He thought it better for the Muslims to tackle the situation through education and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of modern education, especially English Studies, for the Muslims. In this connection he took practical steps by founding the Aligarh College and starting the movements like the All India Mohammadan Educational Conference. He also used his writings to develop the Muslim consciousness by producing works like Tahzib al Akhlaq, Asbab Baghawat-e-Hind, etc. Through his writings he also attempted to bridge the gulf between the Muslims and their British rulers. These institutions, societies, and writings awoke the Muslim consciousness and brought them back to a cultural vitality by giving them a hope of freedom. These institutions set up by Sir Syed later produced such figures who played a leading role in the Pakistan Movement and finally got independence from the British rule. This article aims at discussing that struggle and particularly the steps taken by Sir Sayyad Ahmad Khan in his struggle to cause of nation building and edification of the people of the subcontinent.

  • Classical and Modern Books Authored on Tadlīs (misrepresentation by the
narrators of Hadith) and its people: Inductive and Descriptive Study

    • Authors: Dr. Syed Abdul Majid Ghouri
Abstract: Tadlīs is considered as one of the important topics in the sciences of Ḥadīth (ꜤUlūm alḤadīth) wherein it is determined whether Ḥadīth is Ṣaḥīḥ or ḌaꜤīf. It refers to an act of concealment committed by a narrator to hide a defect in sanad (line of narrators) and enhance its apparent view. Tadlīs was defined by the scholars of Ḥadīth, including the earlier ones and the recent ones, in their Ḥadīth studies and even explained its types and applicable ruling to each type. Some of the scholars even dedicated few books about the names of the narrators who committed Tadlīs with their short biographies. Considering the importance of the topic of Tadlīs in the studies of Ḥadīth and the need of the researchers to know what has been authored in this field and to know about those people were subject of discussion in those books, the researcher aims to conduct an inductive and descriptive study by covering all those books, whether they are in print form, manuscript or lost, with an explanation about the features of each of them. The researcher arrived at important conclusions which can be summarized as: the stalwarts of Ḥadīth have given special care to the topic of Tadlīs in their books related to Ḥadīth sciences. Some of the scholars even dedicated their books to the names and short biographies of those narrators who were suspected of committing Tadlīs. Some of these discussions were very concise and some of the books, especially the contemporary, were expanded and detailed. Writings of the earlier scholars are available in the print form, some of them are still in the manuscript, and some of them were lost. Knowledge of these books will assist the researchers in the field of Ḥadīth to expand in the field via research and study. Further, these books will provide them with a lot of information and benefits which are not available in some of the other common books.

  • Muhammad’s Diplomacy: A beacon for Contemporary International System

    • Authors: Dr. Abubakar Abdulkadir
Abstract: The contemporary international system could best be described as a system made of composite elements whose structure is shaped by an array of complex realities. These realities (factors) which include instrumental actors that participate in international politics such as; States, international organizations, NGOs, sub-national entities, as well as individuals, are fundamental in determining how the world functions today. For much of the last four centuries since the enlightenment period in Europe, two theories of the international system and their surrogates dominate the political landscape; realism and neo-realism on the one hand, liberalism and neo-liberalism on the other. These theories envisioned a bipolar and a unipolar world respectively with little or no regard for multilateralism resulting into a crass and chaotic international system. Thus the discourse within contemporary international system has never been murkier and opaque requiring a vibrant intellectual yet institutionalized way of thinking to provide a roadmap toward a more balanced and effective international system. In a systematic fashion, this paper adopts Prophet Muhammad’s strategy relative to diplomacy and statecraft as framework to articulate an integrated contemporary international system. The implications of this integrated framework, the paper argues, will engender a more robust and effective system based on multilateralism and interdependence where force will have no stake in international relations.

  • Science of Geography in the Holy Qur’ān

    • Authors: Nadia Mumtaz
Abstract: Modern writers have drawn maps to highlight individual and tribal geography described in the Holy Qur’ān, for instance, separate maps are drawn to depict the Prophets’ journeys to preach true faith. While drawing such maps, sometimes all the places are described, for instance, the Prophet Muhammad’s migration to Madina, and Prophet Yusūf’s journey to Egypt. Sometimes, some important places are described, and on other times, merely the two places of starting points and destinations are shown, for instance, the map of migration of the Muslims to Abyssinia, & the maps for Prophets Ibrāhīm, Mūsā & Lūṭ. Not dozens, but scores of books are being written edorned with pictures and maps of the Holy places; these are not mere decoration, rather they facilitate understanding with their visual effects. Ḥajj guides present pictures of Ḥajj places, individual and collective maps of Ḥajj places, highlighting geography of Ḥajj. The present study intend to introduce and evaluate a representative book written to highlight both anthropological and physical geography employed in the Holy Qur’ān

  • Teaching Second language: The key Issues, Problems and the New Challenges
within the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Hyderabad, Pakistan

    • Authors: Dr. Muhammad Dilshad, Dr. Adnan Malik
Abstract: The Education system within the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad, Pakistan has been criticised for ineffective teaching and poor implementation of standardized testing. The BISE is well aware of the problems and has introduced drastic measures to help address critical issues as a result. For example the BISE introduced four measures: (1) the master training program for teachers; (2) vigilance teams to monitor teaching in the classroom; (3) monthly tests to evaluate students’ progress; and (4) opening more colleges to reduce the number of students per class. The aim of the current paper is to identify the potential factors affecting the teaching and learning of students in the BISE. Adopting a case study approach, this study suggests that there may be four potential causal factors that undermined the quality of teaching/learning in the B.I.S.E (1) over-crowded classrooms (2) course content (3) teachers’ professional development and (4) the examination system. To explore these issues, this study set two research questions:1. What are the causes of declining standards of teaching and learning Second language within the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad' 2. How can a teacher bring a change into thinking of students and classroom practices to improve the Progress of learners’ in education' Constructivist grounded theory approach was adopted. This qualitative case study was conducted using carefully designed interviews and data was analyzed qualitatively. it was found that structural redefinition of the culture of teaching is inevitably required for teachers to lead educational change process within the BISE.
