    • Authors: Carlos Ignacio Díaz Cánepa, Camila G. Celis, Carolina Mena Montes, Roccio Mendoza Olivera, Francisca Millares Valdenegro, Carolina Moraga Soto, Cristina Ortiz Peredo Ortiz Peredo, Rachel Sillau Poblete, Francisca Vargas Riquelme
      Pages: 1 - 21
-- The deployment of coping strategies present in remote work in the context of Covid-19 pandemic is reviewed. 23 people who are recently teleworking were interviewed, Results show that people would experience a certain destructure of their work activity and personal life, tending to develop reactive and adaptive strategies. It is concluded that responding to the demands imposed by teleworking implies not only the adaptation of teleworkers but also conditions that foster the constructive appropriation of the possibilities that remote work opens.

  • Adaptación metodológica en un contexto de pandemia. Una aproximación
reflexiva a las entrevistas por videollamada

    • Authors: Isabel Aguilera, Miguel Sepúlveda
      Pages: 23 - 41
-- The objective of this article is to report on a methodological adaptation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, in which the application of the data collection technique was modified from a traditional offline technique (the interview) to an online modality (videoconferencing). Considering the execution of 30 interviews, we describe this adaptation from the management of flexibility in qualitative research designs and the role of reflexivity of the researchers. In the results, we mainly detail the place of emails and messages via WhatsApp in the construction of rapport; the effects of videoconferencing in the interaction; and the introduction of photo-elicitation. This methodological reflection contributes to the discussion on qualitative flexibility and reflexivity; methodological adaptations in ongoing research and/or in extraordinary contexts; as well as on the use of videoconferencing in qualitative research.

-- One of the initiatives to contain the Sars-Cov-2 was the lockdown. The OMS recommended the virtual interaction to prevent sadness and stress. Some indigenous people solved this issue through his participation in a Vision Quest ritual. The central issue of this reflection to describe how the practice of this ritual influenced to face the lockdown, and the emotional processes of the people. This essay seeks to know how the ritual allows to assume the fear and depression. The proposal for those question is: the vision questers has found integral ways to confront the lockdown because the voluntary processes of isolation. The vision quest helps the people to be resilient because the voluntary isolation gives them abilities to face emergent situations. For this paper we use some critic concepts of emotional condition of human being and the importance of the loss of ritual behavior proposed by Byung-Chul Han.

    • Authors: Hilda Cabrera Palafox, Alicia Colina Escalante
      Pages: 61 - 78
-- This article reports the partial results of an investigation on work stress in teachers. The objective was to identify the level of chronic stress (burnout syndrome) in teachers at a Mexican public university. This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study; it was conducted on a probabilistic sample of 63 active teachers who were randomly selected. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-ES) was used, and adapted for education workers, measuring three dimensions. The results found indicated that depersonalization and low personal fulfillment were the dimensions that were found to be worn out or burned out and not the dimension of emotional exhaustion. These data lead to the assumption that the teacher, separated from himself and alienated in his relationship with others, uses depersonalization as a psychological defense mechanism that gives him the possibility of continuing to work without being fully aware of emotional exhaustion, which, without a doubt, it leads to the perception of low personal fulfillment.

-- The aim of this study was to understand the maternity experiences of Haitian women by focusing on the factors that have facilitated or perhaps hindered the health care of their children in Chile. The article draws on a qualitative research based on 20 semi-structured interviews with migrant women, intercultural facilitators, and members of primary care health teams. Mental health emerged as one of the dimensions in which migrant mothers present risk factors associated with the contradictions between the models of motherhood promoted by the health services and those implemented by Haitian women, the feeling of loneliness, and the loss of networks that live in the migratory context and exposure to unwanted pregnancies due to lack of access of the Chilean health system and situations of domestic violence, against which women have little capacity to report. The findings show the need to develop strategies to detect problems regarding mental health problems in migrant women, as well as the lack of access to contraception and information regarding their sexual and reproductive rights.

  • “Inmundos y Peligrosos”.

    • Authors: Andres Juan Duran, Francisco Álvarez, Rodolfo Hidalgo, Felipe Castro, Fariel Abarca
      Pages: 99 - 119
-- The objective of this analysis is to reflect on the relationship between "urban space" and "governmental power", thus addressing a link that in recent years has been relieved within the social sciences from its "spatial turn". To do this, firstly, the urban transformation proposal for the city of Santiago elaborated by Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, at the end of the 19th century, is analyzed, focusing especially on the waist cord initiative that was proposed to fragment the city in two: a city for the elite, and another for the poor. Second, it is argued that the relationship between "space" and "power" is viewed as a condition of possibility for the government of poverty during the nineteenth century, but that it reappears today. Among the findings that this work identifies is that of recognizing that, despite the fact that we are more than a hundred years removed from the proposal for the transformation of Santiago that Vicuña Mackenna elaborated, several of its elements persist to this day, making a set of urban government initiatives of our time appear as "heirs" of the mayor's thought, such is the case, for example, of state policies articulated on the so-called "critical" neighborhoods.

-- The growing interest in studies of social mobilization in Chile has deepened several dimensions of contestation, however, few studies have observed the articulation between the practice of contestation with place-making. This article explores this articulation to examine how lived urban space is transformed by protest dynamics. Ethnography allows the exploration of this relationship, expanding the methodological strategies usually employed in studies of social mobilization sustained in discursive analysis techniques. By an ethnographic participant observation, we focused on the “May Day Classist and Combative march” to demonstrate that the occupation of the street –march–, and the radical confrontation –barricade and hooded action–, are characterized by contingent rhythms and performances, that transform the urban experience, and whose meanings produce a lived space. These findings suggest that the city and the urban space, rather than a scenario of practices, act in a dynamic and symbolic way, making possible alternative registers to the dominant experience of the city.
