- &rft.title=Ciências+&+Cognição&rft.issn=1806-5821&rft.date=&rft.volume=">Metaphors of "Terra da Gente" and the media learning scientific
© Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 002-019The main challenge of science communication is to bring scientific knowledge to citizens in a more clear and understandable and for this purpose is common to use metaphors. This feature allows to conceptualize too technical or abstract phenomena through associations with aspects of everyday use, which are more accessible and familiar. This study examined selected metaphors magazine "Terra da Gente" by classifying them as Curtis and Reigeluth. The objective is a discussion of their employment and the raising of several possible interpretations analyzing how it valid and how much distort the information it want to build with the reader. We verified that the metaphors were very constant in the journal and the authors of the reports have succeeded in applying it, although some may generate unintended interpretations by its maker. It is understood that studies on metaphors are very important to ensure its implementation as a resource and to prevent misinterpretations and erroneous training concepts. Although there are risks in the use of metaphor we believe that its use is extremely important both in science magazines as well as other resources, like textbooks. © Cien. - Cognitive electronic games: contributions to the learning in the
© Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 019-032.This article aims to reinforce the importance of games to the children development and present a new modality, which is cognitive electronic games and its contributions to the learning process in school context. The survey had an exploratory nature and was based on quantitative and qualitative approaches. The subjects were four teachers who participated in the implementation of a computer application for neuroeducation using cognitive electronic games. It was applied, for a period between 10 and 15 weeks, in four classes of elementary school (total of 100 students). The results obtained from systematic observation based on behavioral categories revealed changes in: attention, problem-solving skills, and social behaviors. © Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 019-032.
- Neuroaccounting: reinterpreting research results in Managerial
© Cien. - The vision of the scientist quotidian portrayed by beginners
© Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 046-056.Abstract This research aims at seeking a comparatist view of how the beginner undergraduate chemistry student sees the representation of a scientist in contrast with other similar studies carried out in fundamental and secondary education. The students enrolled in a pedagogy subject offered by a chemistry teacher education course in a Sao Paulo state university were asked to portray a scientist through captioned drawings. These drawings have been sorted according to similar characteristics and, then, they were quantified in order to determine the frequency in which some scientist behaviours were shown. The captions written by the students were also analysed. The use of stereotyped images of the scientist, like the ones commonly found in means of communication, could be noticed, similarly to the ones found in primary and secondary education students' depictions. © Cien. - From the divan to neuropsychoanalysis:: some clinical cases in the light
© Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 057-069.Abstract Among the main issues addressed to the contemporary psychoanalysis, a great part of the themes concerns the role of psychoanalysis face to neurosciences and also to the increasing presence of psychodynamic concepts trenched on neurobiological models about the mind and the brain. There is a profusion of scientific articles that rely on neuroimaging in order to propose approaches among classical freudian concepts with some empirical outcomes. An amount of researches even indicate the junction of these two fields and as a consequence, that has raised some polemics. This article discusses the apparence of neuropsychoanalysis and also reverberates what it represents in this current debate. To draft an initial reflexion about the aim of this approach, it is reported some of the clinical procedures associated with the psychanalytical method of the investigation of the unconscious. © Cien. - Psychological predictors, reactions and process of psychological
© Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 070-088.Abstract Nowadays new alternatives and interventions are being searched to deal with injuries suffered by athletes. This review study purposed to evaluate the studies published between the years 2002 until 2012 about the psychological predictors traces of injuries, the reaction facing a injury, the main techniques of psychological interventions, the multidisciplinary approach and the social support. It was selected 41 publications, 10 that approach the psychological predictors' traces theme, 15 the reaction facing an injury and 19 about the main techniques of psychological intervention, multidisciplinary approach and social support. It was found that the most predictors of injuries are the stress and anxiety exacerbation dealing with internal and external events in the sportive environment. Besides, facing an injury, the athlete leans to have an initial denial and with time accordingly with the support received and its personality, he/she can act in different ways in recuperation period. Some techniques are described as relevant to psychological intervention, however it is necessary a better preparation of the professionals involved in the recuperation, as a greater proximity and interaction between athletes and sport psychologists. © Cien. Cogn. 2013; Vol. 18 (1): 070-088.
