      Pages: 1 - 10
Abstract: One of the economic values of plants is that they can be used as medicine. Indonesian people since ancient times have used plants as traditional medicine. This knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation and there are differences between regions. This is due to differences in customs and experiences of people who use traditional medicine. Based on this, it is necessary to carry out an inventory or record of plants that act as medicines so that they can be properly documented. The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the types of plants used as traditional medicine by the local community. This research was conducted in West Pussui Village, Luwo District, Kab. Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi. The method used is explorative which is descriptive qualitative in nature. The data collection technique used Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), through in-depth interviews covering the types of plants that can be used as medicine, their uses and how to mix the plants used. In addition to interviews, direct observation was also carried out to see the conditions at the research location. The technique of selecting respondents was done by snowball sampling. Data from interviews and observations were then presented in the form of pictures and tables and then analyzed using descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the people of the Mandar tribe used kirinyuh, guava, soursop, jatropha banana, cocoa duck, papaya, black turmeric, moringa, coconut, secang wood, bitter melon, meniran, lime, purslane and breadfruit as traditional medicine to treat various kinds of diseases. The part of the plant that is most widely used to treat diseases is the leaf with a percentage of 50%.

The large use of nutmeg plants results in high industrial demand for nutmeg but the availability of nutmeg is minimal because generative propagation using seeds is still constrained because the structure of the seed coat is hard so that germination takes up to 8 weeks. Dormancy breaking can be done with chemical compounds such as the use of KN03 (potassium nitrate). This study aims to determine the effect of soaking time of nutmeg using KN03 solution and determine the efficient time of soaking nutmeg using KN03 solution on germination. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 5 levels of immersion time, namely without immersion KN03, immersion 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours and 48 hours. Parameters observed were germination percentage and germination time. Data were analyzed using ANOVA at 5% level and DMRT follow-up test. The results showed that the duration of soaking nutmeg seeds using KN03 had a significant effect on the percentage of germination and germination time. The treatment of soaking nutmeg seeds with 2% KNO3 for 24 hours was an efficient treatment for nutmeg seed germination with a germination percentage of 88.3% and germination time of 23.7 days.

Abstract: Environmental learning that contains ethnoscience or local wisdom really needs to be implemented in the classroom in terms of culture and science that students can understand, for learning it is necessary to use appropriate learning models, one of which is the SETS model. This study aims to determine the effect of the SETS model on students' mastery of concepts in biology material. This research was conducted at SMAN 13 Pekanbaru in the 2021/2022 Academic Year. The population in this study were students of class X with a sample of class X4 as the experimental class (using the SETS model) and X5 as the control class (conventional learning) taken by simple random sampling technique. Quasi-experimental research, with the matching only pretest posttest control group design. Data collection through pretest, posttest and observation. In the research results, it was found that the average N-Gain in the control class was 0.25 (low), while in the experimental class it was 0.51 (medium). The results of the N-Gain t-test showed a significant difference between control and experimental class mastery of concepts. Thus it can be concluded that learning the SETS model.
