  • Teknologi Vertebroplasty Untuk Menangani Fraktur Kompresi Tulang Belakang
           Manusia Akibat Penyakit Osteoporosis

      Abstract: Osteoporosis merupakan penyakit metabolik tulang yang ditandai dengan menurunnya massa tulang akibat berkurangnya matriks dan mineral tulang disertai dengan kerusakan mikroarsitektur dari jaringan tulang. Osteoporosis dapat terjadi akibat berbagai faktor terutama faktor usia. Osteroporosis tidak menunjukan gejala yang jelas sehingga penderita osteoporosis beru menyadarinya ketika sudah terjadi fraktur pada tukang belakang yang menyebabkan nyeri. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui teknologi vertebroplasty dalam menangani fraktur kompresi tulang belakang manusia akibat penyakit osteoporosis. Kajian literatur ini akan membahas empat fokus kajian yaitu: 1) struktur dan fungsi sistem tulang, 2) kelainan struktur dan fungsi sistem tulang, 3) mekanisme terjadinya osteoporosis, serta 4) penanganan osteoporosis dengan menggunakan teknologi vertebroplasty. Pada dasarnya bagian luar tulang sangat kuat dan kokoh, tetapi pada bagian lainnya terdapat beberapa spons. Struktur tulang sangat mendukung setiap fungsi yang dimiliki. Pada keadaan normal, siklus pembentukan tulang yang melibatkan sel-sel tulang dan jaringan tulang akan membuat tulang tetap kuat. Ketidakseimbangan dalam regenerasi tulang di mana jaringan tulang trabekular lebih aktif dan cepat sementara tulang kortikal bekerja lebih lambat, dapat menjadi penyebab osteoporosis. Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PV) merupakan penanganan osteoporosis dengan injeksi langsung semen medis (polymethylmethacrylate [PMMA]) pada tulang yang keropos maupun retak, dapat meredakan nyeri dengan lebih cepat.

  • Keanekaragaman Lichen Sebagai Bioindikator Kualitas Udara Di Kawasan Kota
           Surakarta, Jawa Tengah

      Abstract: Lichen dapat berfungsi sebagai bioindikator pencemaran udara di suatu daerah karena sifatnya yang sensitif terhadap polusi. Lichen mampu bertahan hidup di lingkungan yang ekstrim. Sensitivitas lichen terhadap pencemaran udara dapat dilihat melalui perubahan keanekaragamannya. Lichen dibedakan menjadi 4 kelompok berdasarkan bentuk thalusnya yaitu Crustose, Foliose, dan Fruticose. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji keanekaragaman lichen sebagai bioindikator kualitas udara di Kawasan Kota Surakarta. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari hingga Agustus 2021 menggunakan metode kombinasi antara teknik purposive sampling dan eksplorasi (penelusuran lokasi). Hasil penelitian lichen yang dilakukan di Kawasan Kota Surakarta, Jawa Tengah yang terdiri atas 11 titik ditemukan 12 spesies lichen yang berasal dari 7 famili yang diantaranya Lecanoraceae, Graphidaceae, Parmeliaceae, Caliciaceae, Arthoniaceae, Pyrenulaceae, dan Stereocaulaceae. Jenis lichen tersebut termasuk dalam kelompok talus foliose dan crustose. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman (H’) lichen di Kota Surakarta yaitu 1,92 dimana menunjukan tingkat keanekaragaman yang tergolong sedang. Presentase jumlah koloni lichen tertinggi pada spesies Lepraria lobificans Nyl. yaitu 38% dan terendah Parmelia sp. yaitu 0,07%.

  • Karakterisasi Isolat Bakteri Penghasil Kitinase Dan Glukanase Serta Uji
           Efektifitasnya Terhadap Jamur Colletotrichum sp

      Abstract: Shallots as a horticultural commodity is quite important in Indonesia. Fungi anthracnose disease caused by fungus Colletotrichum sp. is one of the pathogens  causing rot on shallot plants. Therefore, an alternative control that is environmentally friendly is a necessity. The aim of the study was to screen the best potential isolates producing chitinase and glucanase of shallot- rhizosphere from Brebes, and further used to inhibit fungal pathogens. The results showed that it was obtained 8 isolates have suppression activity against Colletotrichum sp. which varied in their inhibition. The highest inhibition was produced by isolate UBS 3 (30.56%), whilst one isolate (TK 3) did not have the ability to inhibit Colletotrichum sp.

  • Ophiocordyceps : Fungi Entomopatogen Penyebab Zombie Pada Serangga

      Abstract: Ophiocordyceps is special type of entomopathogenic fungi which well known to infect insects and turning them into zombie. A total of 250 species have been described from its genus, and some are known to control their hosts, which are most notably ants. They are ubiquitous within tropical rain forests across the board, with few publication reports from temperate ecosystems. These fungal pathogens possess the capacity to manipulate host behaviour in order to increase their own fitness. These entomopathogenic fungi cause their hosts frezee to die in an exposed area on the abaxial surface of leaves or branches, which then enhancing the fungus spore production and dispersal. Despite the high diversity of fungi and insect with vast tropical forest as well as drugs potency from Ophiocordyceps, publication of Ophiocordyces was rarely reported from Indonesia. This review will explain the evolution of Ophiocordyceps-insect interaction, simbiont distribution, and zombie-insect formation mechanism, in order to induce zombie-insect research in Indonesia.

      Abstract: Keberhasilan pertumbuhan tanaman dalam pertanian dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya ialah media tanam. Setiap tanaman berbeda kebutuhannya, termasuk jenis media tanam yang tepat untuk dapat tumbuh dan berkembang. Media tanam dapat dikombinasikan untuk mendapatkan berbagai nutrisi yang tepat untuk tanaman dapat tumbuh, berkembang, dan bereproduksi dengan baik. Media tanam yang digunakan petani dalam menunjang pertumbuhan tanaman antara tanah lain, pasir, sekam padi, pupuk, serbuk gergaji, batang pisang, dan cocopeat. Petani saat ini masih mencari jenis media tanam dengan kombinasi yang baru dan berbeda, ini tidak sama antara tanaman satu dan yang lainnya. Setiap tanaman berbeda keperluan nutrisi dan unsur haranya, sehingga berbeda pula kebutuhan media tanam dan komposisinya. Penelitian terkait jenis media tanam dan kombinasinya penting untuk dilakukan, sehingga kedepannya bisa mendapatkan formulasi terbaik tentang media tanam untuk jenis tanaman yang akan ditanam.

  • Validasi Berat Ikan Pada Produk Olahan Ikan Dalam Kemasan Kaleng Di

      Abstract: Fish is the main dietary source of omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPUFA) including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acids (DPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which have benefits to maintain an optimal health. The purpose of this study was to validate fish content in canned fish products in order to develop fish database for dietary assessment. A market survey was performed in 10 supermarkets which were randomly selected in Surakarta followed by laboratory analysis to measure fish content based on CODEX standard for canned fish. The study was conducted in July until November 2019. Results showed that there were 32 serving size from 11 branches of canned fish with the majority fish type was sardine (n=24) followed by mackerel (n=5) and tuna (n=3). They served in various taste such as in tomato sauce, chili sauce, brine and vegetable oil. The percentage of fish content in the labels was in a range from 50% to 70%. There was no significance difference between the percentage of fish mentioned in the canned fish labels and based on measurement in laboratory (Independent Sample T-test dan Mann-Whitney U test, p>0.05). Given the variation of fish content in the canned fish products, it is recommended to consider the percentage of fish in estimating individual fish intake.

      Abstract: Lebih banyak digunakan pada berbagai industri, hampir 100% kebutuhan pektin di Indonesia lebih penting karena belum ada produsen pektin dalam negeri. Penelitian ini membahas pentingnya suhu (pH dan suhu) pada proses isolasi pektin dari campuran limbah kulit buah. Beberapa kulit buah dengan jumlah yang cukup melimpah yang diperlukan digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan pektin di atas adalah kulit buah naga merah (Hylocereus polyrhizus), pepaya (Carica papaya), melon (Cucumis melo), nanas (Ananas comosus), serta jeruk ( Citrus sinensis). Dalam penelitian ini isolasi pektin dilakukan dengan cara ekstraksi menggunakan pelarut asam oksalat 1 N pada pH 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 5. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan pada suhu 70 ° C, selama 90 menit, dengan kecepatan pengadukan 500 rpm. Selain itu, proses ekstraksi juga dilakukan pada variasi suhu 60 ° C, 70 ° C, 75 ° C, 80 ° C dan 90 ° C untuk mengetahui variasi suhu terhadap karakteristik pektin yang dihasilkan. Karakterisasi pektin dilakukan dengan uji berat, kadar metoksil dan kadar abu. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kondisi operasi yang terbaik untuk ekstraksi pektin dari campuran limbah kulit buah adalah pH 2 dan suhu 70 ° C, di mana pada kondisi ini diperoleh hasil pektin sebesar 9,58-10,37%, kadar metoksil 4,03- 10,54%, berat setara 608,33-702,54mg, serta kadar abu 6,13-6,38%.

      Abstract: Desa gampong teungoh merupakan salah satu desa di kota langsa yang sebagian warganya masih memiliki pekarangan yang digunakan untuk menanam buah sebagai nutrisi untuk tubuhnya. Pekarangan atau kebun rumah memberikan keuntungan ekonomi dan sosial, dengan berbagai tanaman buah dan pohon. Penelitian ini dilakukan di 5 dusun yaitu Dusun SMP 5, Dusun Timbangan, Dusun Permai, Dusun Keupala, dan Dusun Tetua Thalib. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan merode observasi. Intervariasi dan wawancara yang ditujukan kepada penduduk setempat. Hasil penelitian telah ditemukan 35 jenis tumbuhan buah pekarangan .

      Abstract: Science has implemented the cell cultures as the primary for research such as a model system, toxicity tests, cancer, viruses, cell-based industries, genetic counseling, genetic engineering, gene therapy, drug screening and the latest is invitro meat. The purpose of this study was to determine the resistance of chicken embryo eksplan cells in invitro media. The research design was in the form of laboratory experiments. Explants taken 4 day old chick embryos, which were cultured in MEM media + serum. The results showed fibroblast cell cultures which survive 2 days. The most influential factor is the environment that is less supportive of the growth of explant chicken embryo cell

      Abstract: Karakteristik kulit batang inang menjadi faktor penentu komunitas corticolous lichen. Beberapa jenis lichen menunjukkan preferensi terhadap karakteristik kulit batang tertentu. Informasi karakteristik kulit batang pohon inang sangat dibutuhkan dalam upaya konservasi terutama untuk red-listed lichen species. Namun penelitian dengan tema tersebut masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis pohon inang lichen di Bukit Bibi dan mendeskripsikan karakteristiknya. Pohon yang disampling adalah pohon yang ditumbuhi lichen di sepanjang jalur jelajah dengan diameter batang > 20 cm DBH. Kulit batang yang disampling adalah kulit batang yang tidak ditumbuhi lichen dan terletak pada ketinggian 130 cm. Karakteristik fisik yang dianalisis meliputi tekstur, kelembaban substrat dan kapasitas menyimpan air sedangkan karakteristik kimia berupa pH. Pohon inang corticolous lichen di Bukit Bibi ada 17 jenis. Karakteristik kulit batang yang bervariasi yaitu tekstur halus sampai kasar dengan celah/ retakan yang dalam; kelembaban substrat antara 8,03% - 63,18%; kapasitas menyimpan air antara 56,06% - 153,33%; dan pH antara 5,05 - 5,89. The characteristics of the host tree bark became a determining factor for the corticolous lichen community. Several types of lichen showed a preference for certain bark characteristics. Information on characteristics of host tree bark was needed in conservation, especially for red-listed lichen species. However, research on this theme was still limited. This study was aimed to determine the diversity of species of lichen host trees in Bukit Bibi and to describe their characteristics. The sampled tree was a tree that was overgrown with lichen along the cruising path with a trunk diameter > 20 cm DBH. Sampled bark was a bark that was not overgrown with lichen and was situated at a height of 130 cm. Physical characteristics analyzed included texture, substrate humidity, and water holding capacity while chemical characteristic was pH. There were 17 types of corticolous lichen host trees in Bukit Bibi. Varied bark characteristics were smooth to rough texture with deep cracks; substrate humidity between 8.03% - 63.18%; water storage capacity between 56.06% - 153.33%; and pH between 5.05 - 5.89.

  • Keanekaragaman Dan Kelimpahan Gulma Pada Tumpangsari Jagung Manis Dengan

      Abstract: Jagung manis merupakan tanaman penting bagi Indonesia, umumnya ditanam secara monokultur dengan jarak tanam lebar yang menyebabkan banyak gulma. Pengendalian gulma kebanyakan dilakukan secara manual atau kimiawi yang efektivitas dan efisiensinya rendah. Salah satu metode yang potensial untuk mengendalikan gulma adalah tumpangsari. Tanaman yang sesuai untuk ditumpangsarikan dengan jagung manis adalah kacangan, yang mempunyai karakter berbeda dengan jagung manis. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh jenis kacangan terhadap mikroklimat, keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan gulma, serta mendapatkan jenis kacangan yang efektif untuk menekan gulma. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan rancangan percobaan faktor tunggal yang disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok lengkap dengan 3 blok sebagai ulangan. Perlakuan yang diujikan adalah jenis kacangan yang terdiri atas 5 jenis yaitu kacang tanah, kedelai, kacang tunggak, kacang merah dan kacang hijau, serta penanaman jagung manis monokultur sebagai pembanding. Pengamatan gulma dilakukan dengan analisis vegetasi dengan 5 petak sampel setiap petak perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gulma yang tumbuh pada tumpangsari jagung manis+kacangan sebanyak 33 jenis, didominasi oleh gulma tekian dan daun lebar, yaitu Cyperus rotundus, Cynodon dactylon, Physallis angulata dan Phyllantus niruri; semua jenis kacang pada tumpangsari mampu menekan pertumbuhan gulma, dengan kemampuan menekan gulma yang paling tinggi yaitu kacang tunggak; dan keberadaan kacangan sebagai tanaman sela di antara jagung manis pada tumpangsari tidak menurunkan hasil jagung manis.
