INDONESIA Authors: Fitriah M. Suud, Moh Toriqul Chaer, Masyhuri Masyhuri Pages: 16 - 30 Abstract: The phenomenon of veiled women in Indonesia has significant development. The use of the niqab is a symbol of the rise of Islam in the post-modern era. A niqab is also an anti-thesis of modern lifestyles that tend to be hedonistic and completely open. This research focuses explicitly on ethnographers working models using the phenomenology paradigm. This research explores women who cover their faces, and why they are more accepting of polygamy. The author found reasons for men to do polygamy and why women in Indonesia reject polygamy practices. The results found that women wear the niqab because, first, as orders from their husbands, second because of inner awareness caused by their understanding of religious education. The practice of women in niqab becomes a kind of artifact of the loyalty of a woman and is directly proportional to the issue of polygamy. The modes used as the legitimacy of men for polygamy, among others, are secret marriage, falsification of self-identity, second marriage without the first wife's consent, coercion of the granting of permission, and consent of the first wife by the husband with various forms of violence and intimidating force PubDate: 2022-11-29 DOI: 10.24014/marwah.v21i2.17019 Issue No: Vol. 21, No. 2 (2022)

FARMER WOMEN GROUP Authors: M. Ali Sofyan, Ahmad Kharis Pages: 63 - 83 Abstract: The relationship between men and women is dominated by men. Likewise in village society, in all spaces women become the second class. This paper describes group activities to resist the concept that has been perpetuated as a concrete manifestation of the ideology of feminism. This activity is carried out by the Women Farmers Group (KWT Karya Tani), which is located in Pengalusan Village, Mrebet District, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java. The study approach uses qualitative (ethnography) because it is more to do a more comprehensive study. KWT Karya Tani's agricultural products are several types of organic vegetables. Some of them are processed into sambal kucai, gethuk and peuyeum. From the results of group production and management, KWT won 1st place at the national level from the Ministry of Agriculture, which previously won 1st place in Purbalingga Regency in the yard competition. As subordinated subjects, women in this group can create a solid integration. In addition, they are located in Christian groups, while most of the village society are Muslim. There is a stigma that tends to show social boundaries on the basis of religion. This can further strengthen solidarity and social integration. Finally, at this point, KWT Karya Tani has resisted and deconstructed the power of patriarchy and majority.

- KAJIAN TEORITIS BUNDO KANDUANG SIMBOL KESETARAAN GENDER BERDASARKAN ISLAM
DAN MINANGKABAU Authors: Mimi Herman Pages: 93 - 105 Abstract: The problem of gender equality arises because there are some forms of injustice that demean women. Some forms of injustice are gender equality including subordination, injustice, stereotype, violence, double burden and marginalization. These things arise because in general society still equates the concept between gender and sex (sex). This issue is a problem that continues to grow and can be analyzed from various perspectives, including perspectives of Islamic religion and Minangkabau adat. The purpose of this study is to theoretically examine gender equality for women from the perspective of Islamic religious teachings and Minangkabau traditional teachings. This research is a qualitative study that is a literature study (library research) using descriptive methods with relevant theory analysis. The results obtained are that in the teachings of Islam there is no gender injustice for women and in the teachings of Islam confirms that the difference between women and men is not to distinguish treatment. On the other hand in the Minangkabau traditional teachings that adhere to the matrilineal system of women have an important role and position. According to this custom, women are determinants of lineages, owners and holders of heirlooms and are domiciled as Bundo Kanduang who lead and protect women in their clans. This concept is very much needed as a basic principle for the development of women's roles and careers. PubDate: 2022-12-30 DOI: 10.24014/marwah.v21i2.14039 Issue No: Vol. 21, No. 2 (2022)
