  • Theoretical and Philosophical Fundamentals of the Sharia Economic System
in the Context of the Modern Economic System

    • Authors: Chandra, Hasan Bisri, Ija Suntana
Abstract: Economics based on sharia has concepts and teachings that can provide welfare evenly to mankind. Therefore, the philosophy of Islamic economics is the main key in human economic development. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the existence of sharia economic philosophy in the modern era. The golden opportunity for the growth of Islamic Economics developed in Indonesia needs to be supported by knowing the western response to economic conditions in Indonesia, where the 4.0 revolution era is a challenge for Indonesia in the economic welfare of its people. Therefore, in order to find the response and contribution of Sharia economic philosophy to the western system that tends to be modern. This type of research is normative juridical and descriptive legal study. The results of the study found that Sharia economic philosophy has very strong energy to ensure that the modern economy is established and strong. Without a philosophical basis packed by Islamic values, the economic system looks weak. So that the Sharia economy in Indonesia is embracing the Indonesian sharia economy with the aim of re-controlling the indo pacific, by implementing a free market and capitalist system. However, Indonesia remains in principle, namely developing the potential of the Islamic economy because this is a golden opportunity towards an established and progressive Indonesia.

  • Muslim Contestations over Islam and the State Relationship: A Critical
           Appraisal

    • Authors: Showkat Ahmad Wagay
      Pages: 1 - 13
Abstract: Recent years have seen a proliferation of academic writing on the relationship of Islam and state from both the Muslims and non-Muslim academicians alike. Mostly, this academic writing used the trend of Islamism as a peg to ponder about the relationship of Islam and the state. The advocates of this trend hold the belief that the state is the nerve centre of Islam. They believed that Islam is a holistic religion and denies the separability of religion from politics and considers political power as an indispensable mechanism to achieve the ends of Islam. They posit Islamic governance as an authentic and correct form of polity. The other trend claims that Islam is primarily silent on the issue of the “state,” and that notions of an “Islamic state” or caliphate are dictatorial and antithetical to traditional Islam, though Islamic values can inform the individual in their role as a citizen within a democratic state. They proposed an alternative conceptualization of state-religion relations that avoids identifications of the state with any particular religion and ideology. Thispaper will briefly examine the genealogy of these two competing claims, and it will also highlight the arguments and counter-arguments of the representative scholars of bothclaims.

  • Empirical Legal Research based on Jasser Auda's Maqashid Syariah
           Theory

    • Authors: Isman, Syamsul Hidayat, Imran Rosyadi, Muhammad Syafri Firman, Nimas Ayu Sholehah
      Pages: 14 - 29
Abstract: This research highlights the limitations of the pragmatic paradigm in empirical legal research and offers a conceptual alternative using Jasser Auda's Maqasid Shariah theory. The limitations of the pragmatic paradigm include theoretical constraints, pragmatism, limited method accuracy with data, social reductionism, and weak contextualization of research findings. To address these issues, a hermeneutical approach can be employed, utilizing a more holistic theoretical framework and expanding the scope of pragmatic applications. The historical restructuring and methodological restructuring of the empirical legal research model are carried out through Jasser Auda's Maqasid Shariah theory, providing a broader understanding of legal behavior within social contexts.

  • Contemporary Bank Interest Law in Fath Adz Dzara'i's Review

    • Authors: Abd Basir, Achmad Musyahid, Rina Rosia, Muhammad Hamsah
      Pages: 30 - 42
Abstract: The spirit of anti-usury in various Muslim communities in the country is getting more intense and active. one of which is that it can be seen from the increasing number of customers at Islamic banks with a significant number of developments from time to time. However, the reality that occurs in conventional banking is still the choice of customers as Muslims, including to borrow money or funds. Of course, conventional banking applies an interest system (Conventional Banking Applies), both loan interest and deposit interest. In Indonesia, the fatwa regarding the halal interest of banks is not very popular. Most Islamic scholars and organizations in Indonesia have issued a fatwa that bank interest is usury which is forbidden. The concept in the past was that transactions occurred individually, where someone borrowed money and the person who gave the loan charged interest. While transactions that include borrowing money from banks are more complex or more complete. In the matter of usury in bank interest, various opinions of scholars, there are scholars who argue that bank interest is lawful on the grounds that the practice of usury in the past was not the same as the phenomenon of bank interest that occurred at the moment now. The main problem is: is bank interest included in the usury category or not included in the usury category, Bank interest law in the perspective of contemporary Islamic law is permissible if there is a need or benefit by adhering to the principle "Mȃ hurrima lisadd al-dzarî'at ubîha li alhȃjat aw al-mashlahat.

  • Measuring the Urgency of Distributive Justice Perspective of Sharia
           Economic Law

    • Authors: Rani Mariana, Hasan Bisri, Ija Suntana
      Pages: 43 - 54
Abstract: Inequality is a universal problem faced by all modern economic systems. Economic injustice and inequality of income and wealth are the beginning of the problem of poverty. The emergence of the concept of distributive justice in Islamic economics is motivated by the fact that existing economic theories are unable to overcome the problem of poverty and inequality of income and wealth. Therefore, the study of distribution has always been an interesting study in the field of Islamic economics. This paper explains the concept of distribution in the perspective of Islamic economics, analyzes issues of injustice in the Indonesian distribution system, criticizes the distribution of capitalist economics and ends with a study of Islamic economic distribution in realizing distributive justice and distribution mechanisms in Islam as a solution for justice and community welfare.

  • Correlation and Relevance of Islamic Economic Theory and Modern Economics

    • Authors: Muhammad Yunus, Yadi Janwari, Ahmad Hasan Ridwan
      Pages: 55 - 65
Abstract: This study aims to explain the correlation between economics and Islam. This research uses qualitative research, with a normative juridical approach and data collection techniques by means of literature study. The results of this study indicate that Islam is a perfect religion that regulates all aspects of human life including the economy. This is proven by the concept of welfare described in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Basically, the purpose of every human being's life is to achieve welfare, although humans interpret welfare from different perspectives. Most economic understandings assume that welfare is worldly material welfare. However, Islam defines welfare with the term Falah, which means holistic and balanced welfare between the material and spiritual dimensions. The Quran and Sunnah have taught that welfare will be achieved if humans live a life in balance between their material and spiritual lives. This is because human life does not only stop in this world, but there is still a second life that humans will face in the hereafter, and welfare will be achieved truly if humans can balance the needs of the world and the hereafter, and that is what is taught in Islamic economics

  • Transactional Comparative Analysis of Ijarah and Al Ijarah Al Muntakiya
           Bit Tamlik in Islamic Banks

    • Authors: Asep Dadang Hidayat, Sofyan Al-Hakim, Iwan Setiawan
      Pages: 66 - 78
Abstract: This research is to find out how ijarah and al-Ijarah al-Muntakiya bit Tamlik (IMBT) transactions are carried out in Islamic banks. The implementation of leasing transactions with ijarah schemes and IMBT in sharia bank products is in accordance with sharia principles. The implementation of ijarah transactions in Islamic banks refers to the provisions of the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI) and Supreme Court Regulation Number 2 of 2008 concerning Compilation of Sharia Economic Law (KHES). There is a comparison with the implementation of the transfer of ownership of the leased object to IMBT, the transfer of the object for lease can only be attempted if the ijarah contract has ended, the option for transferring the object for lease can be attempted by promise (wa'ad). buy and sell. So there are no provisions in the IMBT contract based on the transfer of object ownership by promise (wa'ad). grants, this issue is contradictory because there is a reward that must be given by the customer (mustajir) to the bank for the object of the IMBT contract.

  • The Effect of Musyarakah Contracts on Profitability at KSPPS BMT Mentari
           Bumi

    • Authors: Oktafianus Yoga Tri Kusnandar, Isman
      Pages: 90 - 102
Abstract: To determine how musyarakah contracts affect the profitability (ROA and ROE) of KSPPS BMT Green Earth financial institutions, this study employs a quantitative method that correlates with secondary data extracted from their financial statements for the years 2020-2022. The analysis includes descriptive statistical tests, linear regression, correlation, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that the musyarakah contract has a strong correlation with and can boost profitability. To demonstrate the importance of musyarakah contracts to a company's profitability, they have a significant impact on ROE, but not on ROA. This study is limited by its reliance on homogeneous sample data and its exclusive focus on the relationship between two profitability measures. In order to obtain a deeper understanding, future research should examine a more diverse sample and include additional variables.

  • Adab Education in the Online Learning Process

    • Authors: Kamaludin, Ulil Amri Syafri, Akhmad Alim
      Pages: 103 - 114
Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the face of world education, including Indonesia. Education, which was originally carried out face-to-face, now has to be carried out through internet media, commonly known as "Online". This is done in an effort to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus. However, this new face of education presents various complex problems for educators, students, and parents of students. In the concept of Islamic Education, the process of adab education is not only in face-to-face learning but also created online. Even though they don't meet face to face, adab in studying science can always be applied in order to give birth to students who have strong character in their morals who are able to realize the development of intellectual amaliyah so that they are efficient for the good of the wider community in their capacity as servants of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.

  • Moderation Based Al-Qur'an Education Park Curriculum at TPA Lampung
           Al-Qur'an Center

    • Authors: Rifkah Dewi, Sigit Wibowo, Herawati
      Pages: 115 - 134
Abstract: The government is currently intensively introducing the issue of moderation to all elements of the state in Indonesia to be internalized by the Indonesian people. Terrorism and liberalism are considered as the impact of an immoderate understanding of religion, therefore an appropriate method is needed to internalize the values of moderation from an early age, because early age is the right time to build one's character. The purpose of this study is to examine and present the implementation of the Al-Qur'an Education Park curriculum based on moderation. The method in this research is literature study and field study with content analysis. Al-Qur'an Education Parks are required to be able to instill the values of moderation, namely tawasuth, tawazun, i'tidal, tasamuh and al-musawah through the learning process at the TPA. The inculcation of moderation values is practically derived from the four components of the curriculum, namely objectives, content, methods and evaluation. The four components must always synergize in its implementation. In its implementation, it shows that the inculcation of moderation values in the TPA curriculum contributes to forming a moderate TPA environment.

  • Islamic Religious Education at Pre-Baligh Age According to Ibn Qayyim Al
           Jauziy

    • Authors: Euis Sufi Jatiningsih, Imas Kania Rahman, Hendri Tanjung
      Pages: 135 - 149
Abstract: This article discusses the subject matter of curriculum  for pre-baligh children's education in terms of the thoughts of Ibn Qayyim Al Jauzi and is enriched with other thoughts that refer to Al- Qur'an and hadith. This study uses the library research method, especially in the book Tuhfah Al-Maudud bil Ahkamil Maulud, written by Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauzy. • Why Mudharabah Is Not Developing In Islamic Banking

    • Authors: Lina Pusvisasari, Sofyan Al-Hakim, Iwan Setiawan
      Pages: 190 - 203
Abstract: Why mudharabah has not grown significantly in Islamic banking: Complexity and Risk: Mudharabah has a complex structure and involves profit sharing between the capital and the manager (mudharib). The success of mudharabah is highly dependent on the manager's ability to manage risk wisely. This can be challenging for Islamic banks as it requires specialized expertise in risk management and business evaluation. Uncertainty of Results: In mudharabah, business results cannot be guaranteed and may vary from time to time. This creates uncertainty for the capital party (shahib al-mal), especially if they want a fixed and stable return. This uncertainty may discourage investors and discourage the use of mudharabah on a large scale. Preference for Easier Instruments: Some Islamic banks prefer other financial instruments that are easier to implement, such as murabahah (sale and purchase with markup) or ijarah (lease). These instruments have simpler structures and are easier to understand, allowing banks to quickly offer products and services to their customers. Lack of Awareness and Understanding: Lack of awareness and understanding of mudharabah among the public and Islamic bank customers can also be a hindering factor. If customers do not have sufficient understanding of the concept and benefits of mudharabah, they may be reluctant to use products or services related to it. Unfavorable Rules and Regulations: Some rules and regulations in some countries may not provide sufficient support for the development of mudharabah in the Islamic banking industry. Certain legal ambiguities or regulatory constraints may hinder the freedom and flexibility in using mudharabah as a financial instrument. Slower Industry Development: The Islamic banking industry is still relatively young compared to conventional banking. While there has been significant growth in recent years, Islamic banking still faces challenges in achieving the same size and scale as conventional banking. This may also affect the wider adoption of mudharabah in the industry.

Abstract: The discussion in this study is how the implementation of the determination of the cost of maintaining pawn goods in the review of sharia economic law. The purpose of this research is to find out the determination of the cost of maintaining pawned goods at PT Pegadaian and the analysis of sharia economic law in determining the cost of maintaining pawned goods. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research with data collection conducted through observation and in-depth interviews with the leadership and staff of the Samarinda branch pawnshop. The results showed that the cost of maintaining pawned goods in practice, the costs are charged to the customer and the amount of costs incurred is based on the size of the loan and is termed capital rent but the Pawnshop will compensate according to the collateral if the customer is harmed or the collateral is damaged then it will maintain and take care as well as possible of the valuables that are collateral from the community, pawnshops are still the main choice of the community to pawn their valuables, so that the presence of pawnshops can reduce the development of pawn practices that harm the community. The Islamic economic law review of the implementation of determining the cost of maintaining pawn goods is still not based on sharia principles and is not in accordance with the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council (DSN), this is because the amount of the cost of maintaining pawn goods cannot be determined based on the amount of the loan.

      Pages: 225 - 236
Abstract: Abstract: The learning model must be adjusted to the level and characteristics of the class, the subject matter to be discussed, the availability of learning media, and others. So it is very important to determine the right learning model to be used in a lesson so that the goals or learning outcomes are achieved. The Discovery Learning strategy is a component of a constructivist approach that has a long history in education. The idea of discovery learning arises from the desire to give pleasure to children/students in "discovering" something by themselves, by following in the footsteps of scientists. Implementation in cycles I-III of the Discovery Learning learning model The allocation of learning time is more effectively and efficiently arranged so that if there are obstacles in the process of teaching and learning activities they can be resolved immediately properly, this can be seen from the 10 students who complete 10 people with a percentage of 100%. Students who did not complete amounted to 0 with a percentage of 0%. With an average score of 82 classical student completeness is 100% with a KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) score of 75. These results show that the discovery learning approach has a good impact on empowerment in terms of cognitive, psychomotor, and student affection towards significant changes in students in terms of understanding and self-confidence, of course.

      Pages: 312 - 320
Abstract: In essence, human beings are glorified creatures of Allah SWT, this glory can be obtained if humans place themselves as creatures before their God, human nature can be interpreted as a tendency to understand the essence that is fixed and does not change in human beings, as well as signifies its characteristics that distinguish it from humans. another. Human nature in philosophy is a tendency to assume that humans have a pre-existent definition of humanity that is able to clearly distinguish it from its existence. So essence is more important than existence. The essence of humanity in humans is attached at all times in humans from birth to death. Humans in actualizing their humanity in various lives will get respect. Human potential based on the Islamic view is a created form. So that with the creation of this human being, the Creator, namely Allah SWT, has provided potentials for life related to the concept of human nature (A. Aziz, 2013: Ta'allum: Journal of Islamic Education). Human nature is a gift from Allah SWT that is attached to humans so that humans have a noble position when compared to other creatures created by Allah SWT.

      Pages: 321 - 333
Abstract: Imam Syafi'i's ideas regarding qaul qadim and qaul jadid are interesting to observe. From the idea that shows flexibility in the application of Islamic sharia, Islamic law, or Islamic fiqh, it appears that Imam Syafi'i has provided a methodical framework in addressing the application of Islamic sharia, Islamic law, or Islamic fiqh which has relevance to various social contexts that covers it. This implies that Islamic sharia, Islamic law, or Islamic law is a process of grounding theocentric values that are ideal and sacred to anthropocentric values that are very dynamic and profane. In this process, Imam Syafi'i's constructive and innovative ideas regarding qaul qadim and qaul jadid, along with various sociological factors that became the background for changing his views, had practical implications for the birth of a methodical framework for the application of Islamic sharia, Islamic law, or Islamic fiqh that can be applied in different contexts of place, time or circumstances

  • Legal Certainty Regarding the Execution of State Administrative Court
Decisions That Have Permanent Legal Force

      Pages: 405 - 428
Abstract: As a rule of law country, Indonesia has regulated the settlement of administrative disputes between legal entities and the government, individuals and the government, and employees and the government which are examined, resolved and decided by the State Administrative Court (PTUN). PTUN decisions that have permanent legal force (inkracht van gewijsde) must be implemented by the party ordered in the decision. However, there are still many government officials who do not implement PTUN decisions that have permanent legal force. invitation. Based on Article 116 of Law Number 51 of 2009 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 5 of 1986 concerning the State Administrative Court (UU PRATUN), the Head of the State Administrative Court only submits a letter to the President as the holder of the highest government power to order the official to implement the court's decision, and to the people's representative institutions to carry out the oversight function. This method is not effective because the actualization of the President and the DPR (people's representatives) has not been found in writing to warn officials who do not comply with the law, causing legal uncertainty. This study aims to find out what obstacles that lead to disobedience or non-implementation of PTUN decisions that have permanent legal force by government officials and what efforts must be made because there is no special field as the executor of the forced execution of PTUN decisions. This research uses a descriptive analysis method and a normative juridical approach. From the results of the research, it was found that the government must have the courage to make breakthroughs in the institutions of the State Administrative Court so that the decisions of PTUN judges have value and are respected, namely making rules regarding the establishment of special bodies or fields that have duties and functions as executors of PTUN decisions to create and realize the principle of legal certainty in the rule of law for all citizens who are in dispute so that in the future the PTUN decision will no longer be branded as a toothless tiger because the implementation of forced executions by the judiciary and other state security institutions cannot yet be implemented because there are no laws and regulations that strictly regulate the execution of forced executions of Administrative Court Decisions State Enterprises by whom and in what procedures

  • Spiritual Poverty as a Cause of Corruption

    • Authors: Raden Nurhayati
      Pages: 667 - 676
Abstract: Islam as we know is a religion that is always concerned with social interests, it can be seen from the pillars of faith and pillars of Islam. Social aspects that appear in the pillars of Islam shahada, prayer, zakat, fasting and pilgrimage. Of these five pillars, zakat is the pillar of Islam with the most obvious social aspect. By intending to give zakat, it means cleanliness, the cleanliness of our assets, some of which belong to other people, must be given to those who are entitled. In the midst of advising to pay zakat, on the other hand, many people commit acts of corruption, taking other people's rights. Corruption is strictly prohibited by Allah Swt and His Messenger and is an accursed act. Objectively, the government has been trying to realize good governance with deregulation and de-bureaucratization policies since 1980. A striking weakness in the process of achieving good governance so far is the high level of corruption accompanied by collusion and nepostism (KKN). If corruption is like this, then how to eradicate it' Efforts to eradicate corruption have been carried out both institutionally and individually, although many efforts have been made but the impact cannot be felt. All the negative effects caused by acts of corruption can be categorized as the biggest humanitarian violence in this country. Corruption is a social sin that destroys various structures of social life. In accordance with the word of Allah Swt in the Al-Qur'an verse al-Imran verse 112 which means "they are covered with humiliation wherever they are, unless they hold on to the rope (religion) of Allah and the rope (agreement) with humans. This paper aims to determine the impact and efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia. The writing method used is the method of literature review (library research). The impact caused by corruption in all lines of life has made Indonesia worse off because there are many corruption cases that have harmed the government and society, thus making Indonesia poorer. The most important efforts to eradicate corruption are moral movements and spiritual deepening which are continuously socialized from the basic level to the top level. The spiritual aspect is very important in human life, so when the spiritual aspect is lost in human life, humans do not get inner peace, there is no self-balance, especially when faced with increased material needs, they will become increasingly greedy because there is no more who can control himself.

  • The Ijtihad Methodology of the Persatuan Islam Hisbah Council In the
           Determination of Islamic Law

    • Authors: Jajang Herawan, Ending Solehudin
      Pages: 677 - 693
Abstract: This research examines and studies the Ijtihad of the Persatuan Islam Hisbah Council in determining Islamic Law. Persatuan Islam is one of the renewal movements that was established in 1923 AD. Persatuan Islam conducted ijtihad through the Persis Ulama Council which later changed its name to the Persatuan Islam Hisbah Council. The Hisbah Council is an Persatuan Islam Legal Institution that functions as a council of consideration, sharia studies, and fatwas in the Persatuan Islam jam'iyyah. The legal studies of the Persatuan Islam Hisbah Council have produced many Islamic legal thoughts, including the law of prayer in two languages, the law of Friday prayer for travelers, raising hands when praying, the position of zakat and taxes, and waqf money, as well as inheritance from non-Muslims. The method of the Hisbah Council in making legal decisions is to base it on the Qur'an and Sahih Hadith, as the main reference and reference for determining Islamic law, and to make ijtihad on issues that are not found in the Qur'an and Hadith of the Prophet.

  • Price Mechanisms in Islamic Economics Perspective of Yahya Bin Umar and
           Ibn Taymiyah

    • Authors: Lina Pusvisasari, Yadi Janwari, Ahmad Hasan Ridwan
      Pages: 694 - 703
Abstract: This study discusses the role of prices in Islamic economics from the perspective of Yahya bin Umar and Ibn Taymiyah. In the view of Yahya bin Umar, the price mechanism in Islamic economics must follow the principles of justice and transparency and avoid speculation that harms the community. Meanwhile, Ibn Taymiyah argues that the price of goods and services should be determined by market demand and supply, assuming that the market runs freely and there is no fraud. Through a qualitative approach using the literature study method, this article discusses the views of Yahya bin Umar and Ibn Taymiyah on the price mechanism in Islamic economics. The results show that both agree that the price mechanism must follow the principles of fairness and transparency. However, there are differences of opinion in terms of how to determine prices, where Yahya bin Umar emphasizes more on the need for government and community supervision of the price mechanism, while Ibn Taymiyah emphasizes more on market freedom.

  • Views Of The MUI, NU, And Muhammadiyah On The Expansion Of The Meaning Of
           Ashnâf Fî Sabîlillâh In Indonesia

    • Authors: Nur Sillaturohmah Handayani, Isman, Muthoifin
      Pages: 704 - 716
Abstract: This research aims to analyze the views of the three largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, namely the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and Muhammadiyah, related to the expansion of the meaning of ashnâf fî sabîlillâh in the current era. This research uses descriptive analytic qualitative method by collecting data from various related sources. The results showed that the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), as a joint community organization of various Islamic mass organizations in Indonesia, has an important role in providing fatwas and becoming a reference for Muslims and the government. MUI also has a view related to the expansion of the meaning of Ashnâf Fî sabîlillâh. Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) through the NU Institute of Zakat and Infaq Shodaqoh (LAZISNU) views that ASNAFIS has a general meaning, namely for the defense of Islam, Muslims, and public interests such as establishing schools and hospitals. Muhammadiyah through the Muhammadiyah Zakat and Infaq Shodaqoh Institute (LAZISMU) interprets ASNAFIS in three categories. First, the meaning of war, defense, and Islamic security. Second, the meaning of Islamic religious interests. Third, the meaning of Islamic religious interest. This research is expected to contribute to enriching the understanding of the views of three major mass organizations on the expansion of the meaning of ASNAFIS. In addition, this research also emphasizes the importance of Islamic legal certainty related to zakat in the context of zakat management which is increasingly growing in Indonesia along with the rapid development of zakat payment technology.

  • Neo-Khawārij Menace In Nigeria: Khalīfatu Calī’s Sliver Bullet As A
Model To Address Bokoharam And Takfīrī Ideologies In The Country

    • Authors: Yusuph Dauda Gambari, Yahya Sahykh Ahmad
      Pages: 717 - 734
Abstract: Boko Haram and Takfīrī are the two sects in Nigeria with the trait of Khawārij. Both have been making the headlines and forming the main topics of discussions on Islam in Nigeria in recent times. Their ideologies, activities, and approaches, especially the Boko Haram have called for more concerns because of their dreadfulness. These have also enabled their equation with the Khawārij sect in Islamic history, hence this paper aims to direct attention to the silver bullet of Khalīfatu cAlī in decimating them (Khawārij), especially now that the government's efforts in tackling BokoHaram have not been yielding the desired results. The historical method of research was adopted because the discussions are largely related to linking the past to the present. It is discovered that the government's efforts are failing because they focused on the aspects of military onslaught alone, whereas Boko Haram is both terrorism and religious extremism. It is through religion they recruit members for terrorism. Tackling them, therefore, called for dual approaches. Apart from military counter strategies, it also requires intellectual engagement as both were combined by Ali in his fights against Khawārij. The paper, therefore, concluded by recommending the creation of a Ministry for Religious Affairs (MRA) or Religious Affairs Commission (RAC) to coordinate and regulate religious matters, while the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) is duly engaged by the government for intelligence gathering in stamping out Takfīrī and BokoHaram problems in the country

  • Tawafuq (Miraculous Visual Alignments) In The Quran

    • Authors: Sabah Hussain
      Pages: 735 - 754
Abstract: Upon informing various Muslims (including Muslims living in Britain and the Middle East) about Tawafuq, I understood that many of them, including imams and various other professionals working with the Quran, seemed unaware of Tawafuq (miraculous alignment) in the Quran. How and why did so many Muslims seem unaware of one of the most important features of the Holy Quran' Tawafuq could save the faith of many, especially in an era where sight is often elevated in epistemology, many seem  convinced only by what they can see, and where the sciences are often marked by an emphasis on empiricism. The article below seeks to introduce Tawafuq, and indicate its potential to be an important new field in  Quranic studies.

  • Science And Religion: Quest For The Human Welfare

    • Authors: Mohd Ashraf Malik
      Pages: 771 - 780
Abstract: August Comte in the 19th century, James Frazer and Sigmund Freud in the 20th century declared earnestly that religion will be superseded by science. Science according to them would explain everything that humanity would be confronted with in the future including purpose of life and the working of the universe. The global resurgence of religious movements since the 1970s, however surprised many such Euro-Western intellectuals who had assumed that the process of secularization, based on 19th and the 20th centuries positivistic ideas of progress and modernization, was universal, unidirectional, and inevitable. In their view all societies were moving relentlessly to increasingly secular conditions in which religious institutions would be progressively marginalized and their hold on society would diminish. The great Islamic Revolution of Iran (1979), the conversion of great number of non-Muslims to Islam since the momentous September 11, 2001 event and the proliferation of New Spiritualities the world over (21st century) astonished the scientists and secularists who could see religion dominating the human affairs defying all claims of science and ‘Enlightenment’ rationality. The renaissance of religion made many a men of intelligence to revisit the essence of religion. Like the scientists, Isaac Newton and Robert Boyle in the past, they began to see their work as the part of religious enterprise devoted to the understanding of God’s creation. In the paper my objectives would be aiming at identifying the prominent themes where science finds religion as complimentary and partner in furthering the cause of human welfare. The areas where religion (especially Islam), and science stand neutral towards one another may also be analysed. The research is primarily a library research analyzing narratives and arguments from selected religious and secular/scientific works.

  • Religious Teachings as the Key to Social Peace and Harmony: An Approach
from an Islamic Point of View

    • Authors: Asra Aslam, Rafique Anjum, Bilal Ahmad Dar
      Pages: 781 - 788
Abstract: "Islam" is derived from the Arabic root "Salema," which implies peace, submission, purity, and obedience. Islam is frequently regarded as a religion that prioritizes the use of violence in its missionary efforts. A body of literature and media depicting Islam as a violent faith has contributed to the stereotype. The Qur’an, the major source of Islamic teaching, depicts a human as being both eager to collaborate and prone to dispute, with a preference for conflict resolution through peaceful means. In the Qur’an,ic worldview, the three levels of peace are conceptualized using three terms: as-silmu, as-shulhu, and al-amanu. The purpose of this article is to investigate how the Qur’an, encourages Muslims to engage in religious tolerance and harmony with people of other religions in order to bring about a true manifestation of peace and brotherhood in diversity, as well as respect for each other's rights as places of worship based on their common humanity. As a result, the study describes the Qur’an,ic principles, hadith, and opinions of other scholars for maintaining religious harmony and peaceful coexistence among societies, such as human equality, mutual understanding, tolerance, dispute resolution, cooperation, and religious and intellectual freedom. This report also emphasises the function of educational groups in raising public knowledge about the importance of maintaining societal peace and harmony.

  • Waqf As A Device Means To Improve The Health Care And Sustenance Of The
Refugee Camps Of North Eastern Nigeria

    • Authors: Muhammad Auwal Sulaiman, Ibrahim Abubakar Muhammad
      Pages: 789 - 802
Abstract: The North-Eastern region of Nigeria has the highest concentration of border communities, and these contributed to the border-related misconducts, such as the activities of Boko Haram which forced many communities to relocate to safety areas for their comfort of life. Consequently, this situations finally placed many individuals and communities into Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). This paper investigated the serious challenges faced by these IDPs in relation to shortage of access to health care facilities. The paper revealed how these IDPs were deprived to carry their economics activities such as farming, fishing and access to education as a result of the conflict in the lake Chad region, as well as the cross-border activities from extremist group. Using descriptive and analytical method, this paper states the position of Islam on Waqf as device means of relief on the communities facing the hardship situations. (Waqf is a voluntary charity in terms of land and property and is proven to be a strong instrument to reduce various burdens of life). The paper called on the attention of individuals, Non-Governmental organizations and Muslims countries to establish a permanent institution that will address these challenges and provide emergency services to this communities. Meanwhile, the paper recommends how this will be designed in order to reach the targeted communities.

  • Islamic Eschatological Discourses: Comparing Between The Conceptions Of
           Badiuzzaman And Al-Attas

    • Authors: Jafar Paramboor
      Pages: 803 - 822
Abstract: The idea of what is after life has been remarkably discussed in all religions since their inceptions. The doctrine of the last things is known as eschatology. The word originated in the West and initially referred to Jewish, Christian, and Muslim ideas regarding the end of time, the afterlife, the Last Judgment, the messianic era, and the theodicy (the justification of God's justice) dilemma. The phrase has been used by religious historians to describe overlapping themes and ideas in nonliterate peoples' religions, ancient Mediterranean and Middle Eastern societies, and Eastern civilizations. There are eschatological archetypes in many secular liberation movements as well. The present paper aims to present a metaphysical and theological understanding of the Islamic idea of eschatology, comparing between two contemporary scholars, i.e., Badiuzzaman Said Nursi and al-Attas. In the works of both, it is noticed that the conceptions and terminologies related to the end of this world and beginning of the other world have been discussed. Initially, the paper introduces the concept of eschatology in THE WORDS of Badiuzzaman, followed by the explanation by al-Attas. After presenting the two scholastic narrations, they are compared looking to different dimensions including their content, articulative methodologies, and linguistic aspects. A meticulous analysis of all these dimensions showed that the two scholars have similar understanding of the Islamic idea of eschatology, whereas both differ, to a great extent, in presenting it through their respective works. The paper argues that both scholastic narrations have contributed significantly to the understanding of the hereafter world.
