  • Sinopsis de "Conocimiento expropiado"

    • Authors: Fernando Broncano
      Pages: 11 - 18
Abstract: The book Conocimiento expropiado deals with several of core issues of political epistemology. It starts from the hypothesis that in the interaction between epistemic positions and social positions epistemic certain harms are produced that amount to social harms. The theoretical framework of the book is virtue epistemology extended to social aspects. From these two points of view, I examine issues such as epistemic injustice, structural ignorances, epistemic oppression and, finally, the relations between epistemology and democratic social order. Palabras clave: Epistemología política, injusticia epistémica, epistemología y democracia. Keywords: Political epistemology, epistemic injustice, epistemology and democracy.

  • Activismo epistémico y la epistemología del empoderamiento

    • Authors: José Medina
      Pages: 19 - 26
Abstract: Epistemic Activism and the Epistemology of Empowerment Resumen: Este artículo argumenta que la teoría de la agencia epistémica compartida de Fernando Broncano llama a un análisis de cómo compartir la agencia epistémica resistente para entender cómo luchar contra los daños epistémicos agenciales en comunidades de resistencia y a través de lo que el autor denomina activismo epistémico. Abstract: This article argues that Fernando Broncano’s theory of shared epistemic agency calls for an analysis of how to share resistant epistemic agency in order to understand how to fight against agential epistemic harms in communities of resistance and through what the author terms epistemic activism. The author maintains that Broncano’s epistemology of dependence needs to be supplemented with an epistemology of activism and empowerment that shows how agential epistemic harms can be repaired, how structural and institutional obstacles that constrain the epistemic agency of oppressed groups can be dismantled, and how the epistemic agency of marginalized groups can be restored through the epistemic self-empowerment of those groups. Keywords: Epistemic activism, epistemic empowerment, epistemic agency, epistemology of dependence.

      Pages: 27 - 37
Abstract: The activism we don’t appreciate: Your Honor Kent, my mother is a feminist and votes even if she doesn’t know she’s oppressed Resumen: Broncano mantiene que ocupar una situación de opresión no garantiza la lucidez necesaria para identificar la propia situación como injusta. Abstract: Broncano thinks that being oppressed does not guarantee knowing that you are oppressed. This view warns us that we are going to find people who are oppressed and who don’t have knowledge about their oppression nor a critical attitude towards their situation. What concerns me here is how this view affects the political agency of those people. The conclusion I want to avoid is as follows: When we don’t listen to someone who is oppressed but who doesn’t know their position as oppressed, we are not betraying them qua a political agent, we are not silencing them as a potential activist. I propose an analysis of complains that allows us to escape that conclusion. I propose that the complains expressed by many women should be understood as a political action, one that is not necessarily accompanied by knowledge of the injustice they are suffering. Once we see their complains as activism, we cannot exclude these women from the fight against sexism and deny their political agency. Under this analysis, women can be betrayed qua political agents even when they don’t have knowledge of their unjust situation. We betray them when we don’t understand their complains as resistance. Palabras clave: Conocimiento, agencia política, activismo, resistencia, quejas. Keywords: Knowledge, political agency, activism, resistance, complains.

  • La epistemología como epistemología política: conocimiento,
           daño y relato.

    • Authors: Josep Corbí
      Pages: 39 - 49
Abstract: Quite often, Conocimiento expropiado takes the natural sciences as the model of knowledge, namely, the notion of knowledge that we associate with information and technological progress; an alternative model only emerges in this book when hermeneutic injustice and certain forms of epistemic harm are analysed. Broncano alludes to both epistemic experiences as knowledge, and this terminological choice makes sense insofar as he has placed socially and politically embedded agency at the centre of knowledge. My thesis is however that, if we are to take seriously the role of agency in the articulation of knowledge, we must examine the notion of knowledge as used in science and technological developments from the perspective of the survivors’ attempt to make sense of their moral wound rather than the other way round. Palabras clave: Conocimiento, relato, daño, objetividad, transformación. Keywords: Knowledge, narrative, moral wound, objectivity, transformative.

  • Testimoniar sometida a la injusticia hermenéutica. Daño sexual y

    • Authors: Carmen Martínez-Sáez
      Pages: 51 - 61
Abstract: Testifying subjected to hermeneutical injustice. Abstract: Alongside the conception of testimony as a social institution subject to conditions and norms, there arises in Conocimiento expropiado (Broncano 2020) a second way of conceiving the epistemic practice of testimony that conflicts with the first and seems to go unnoticed. This second conception is manifest in the way Broncano delimits the act of testimony and the epistemic dependence. The aim of this contribution is to show the conflict between these two ways of conceiving testimony through the internal tension they present: while the conception of testimony as a social institution allows us to recognize some fundamental forms of testimony (namely, the testimony of victims of hermeneutic injustice), the definitions of the act of testifying and epistemic dependence seem to exclude them. Far from invalidating Broncano’s analysis, the internal tension, although problematic for cases in which the testimonial agent is subject to hermeneutic injustice is, firstly, necessary to understand cases of discursive injustice or testimonial injustice—and, therefore, I do not advocate its rejection'; and, secondly, it highlights the relevance of conceiving testimony as a social institution. Palabras clave: Testimonio, injusticia hermenéutica, cooperación epistémica, daño sexual. Keywords: Testimony, hermeneutic injustice, epistemic cooperation, sexual harm.

      Pages: 63 - 72
Abstract: Claims of epistemic credit in social context Resumen: En este ensayo explico la propuesta fundamental de Conocimiento expropiado (Broncano 2020) en el marco agencial y fiabilista que asume el autor. Abstract: In this essay, I explain the main claim of Conocimiento expropiado (Broncano 2020) against the background of the agential and reliabilist framework that its author assumes. I then focus on his analysis of situations of testimonial injustice, opposing Miranda Fricker’s approach (focused on prejudice in testimonial exchanges) and Broncano’s one (focused on structural imbalances). By pointing out the shortcommings of both models, I skech an alternative proposal: testimonial injustice is produced when the credibility assessment results from an identity judgment, whether it is effectively appropriate regarding the collective or not. Palabras clave: Epistemología política, fiabilismo agencial, injusticia testimonial, credibilidad. Keywords: Political Epistemology, agent reliabilism, testimonial injustice, credibility.

      Pages: 73 - 82
Abstract: Blind, deaf, and mute: the healthcare system regarding conscientious objection to abortion Resumen: A la luz de la obra de Fernando Broncano, Conocimiento expropiado (2020), este trabajo plantea la objeción de conciencia generalizada al aborto como un fenómeno que origina situaciones de injusticia epistémica. Abstract: In accordance with Fernando Broncano’s work, Conocimiento expropiado (2020), this paper considers the widespread conscientious objection to abortion as a phenomenon that creates situations of epistemic injustice. Access to information, devaluation of women’s testimony, as well as individual and institutional complicit silence that perpetuates systemic ignorance, are realities that affect an indeterminate number of women who require the termination of their pregnancies. In order to address the damage generated, we consider how pro-choice networks and movements distribute information and resources on abortion outside the clinical sphere. They also organise themselves as forces of epistemic resistance, capable of creating and sharing knowledge in an exercise of radical democracy, in the sense expressed by Broncano. Palabras clave: Objeción de conciencia, aborto, injusticia epistémica, ignorancia institucional, resistencia epistémica. Keywords: Conscientious objection, abortion, epistemic injustice, institutional ignorance, epistemic resistance.

Abstract: The Finding of a Prologue: Art, Science and Truth in García Bacca Resumen: El presente artículo pretende exponer cómo ese cambio de “categorías” impuesto por el hecho de una ciencia físico-matemática-instrumental será el que, en definitiva, posibilite el surgimiento real de novedades 'la creación' y obligue a un reajuste de la epistemología tradicional. Abstract: This paper aims to show how this change of “categories” imposed by the fact of a physical-mathematical-instrumental science will be the one that, ultimately, enables the real emergence of novelties'creation'and forces a readjustment of traditional epistemology. There is, consequently, in the thought of Juan David García Bacca, an almost indissoluble unity between art, science and truth. • La filosofia de la teoria quàntica

    • Authors: Vicent Picó
      Pages: 111 - 149
Abstract: Quantum theory represents one of the most important milestones in the history of science in the 20th century, both in terms of its theoretical and technological implications and in terms of the conceptual problems posed by its interpretation. This article constitutes a review of the interpretive proposals of the quantum formalism since the theory was axiomatized at the end of the decade of the 20s of the last century. These proposals rise philosophical problems such as non-locality, indeterminism, probability or scientific realism, for each of which a tentative answer is offered based on the interpretation of the corresponding formalism. • Gerald A. Cohen y Elizabeth Anderson. Sobre el igualitarismo pluralista de
           Jesús Mora

Abstract: Gerald A. Cohen and Elizabeth Anderson. Abstract: This paper aims to expose and discuss the proposal to develop a pluralist egalitarianism as presented by Jesús Mora in his recent book entitled: ¿Igualdad para qué' Una propuesta de igualitarismo pluralista para el siglo XXI (Dykinson, 2021). In order to do so, we analyse what we consider to be its two fundamental threads of argument, namely the distributive egalitarianism of J. Rawls and G. A. Cohen and the relational egalitarianism of E. Anderson. We conclude our reflections by emphasising what we believe to be the strong points of Jesús Mora’s text and we question, through E. Anderson’s reflections on democratic equality, whether the defence of a two-pronged egalitarianism presented by J. Mora in his text is really viable.
