Authors:Arifin Zain, Maturidi Maturidi Pages: 209 - 222 Abstract: This study aims to identify the factors causing conflict, analyse conflict resolution methods, and determine the factors that hinder the resolution of conflicts related to the construction of houses of worship in Aceh Singkil District. The research employs a qualitative approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The findings reveal that inter-religious conflicts, particularly between Muslims and Christians, are triggered by the construction of houses of worship that do not comply with agreed-upon terms. The Aceh Singkil government has taken several steps to address these conflicts, such as socialising regulations, promoting mutual respect among religious adherents, conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and holding dialogues with conflicting parties. However, the resolution is hindered by factors like the binding nature of the 1979 Agreement, incomplete conflict resolution efforts, political issues, suboptimal performance of relevant institutions, and the fact that the clergy are not indigenous. This research provides valuable insights into the dynamics of inter-religious conflicts in Aceh Singkil, highlighting the complex interplay of social, political, and legal factors in conflict resolution. The study utilised qualitative methods, including participant observation, in-depth interviews, and video documentation, to gather primary data concerning the Abuang dance. Secondary sources were employed to enrich the contextual understanding of the dance’s historical and cultural relevance. This research found that the Abuang dance is not merely a form of cultural expression but also serves as an integral component of the religious and communal life in Tenganan Pegringsingan, encapsulating the Hindu aesthetic values of satyam (truth), sivam (chastity), and sundaram (beauty). The dance fosters cultural resilience and acts as a conduit for spiritual and communal values amidst contemporary challenges. The study contributes to the wider discourse on the preservation of cultural heritage, providing insights into how traditional dances can sustain community values and spiritual life in modern contexts. Authors:Simon Simon, Auw Tammy Yulianto, Elsyina Rode Pararem, Jamin Tanhidy Pages: 252 - 262 Abstract: This study delves into the ethical considerations of phone sex within long-distance marital relationships (LDRs) from a Christian ethical perspective. Employing qualitative methods, including scriptural analysis and literature review, the research aims to ascertain the compatibility of phone sex with Christian doctrinal teachings concerning marital intimacy. The findings suggest that phone sex is perceived as diverging from the Christian ethical norms which advocate for physical and personal marital interactions, categorizing it as a form of sexual perversion akin to masturbation. The study contributes to theological discourse by providing a framework for understanding modern challenges in marital intimacy within the Christian context. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining physical intimacy as prescribed by scripture and highlights the potential spiritual and ethical pitfalls associated with phone sex in LDRs. Recommendations include fostering educational and counseling initiatives within church communities to guide couples in navigating these issues. This study enriches the dialogue on integrating technology into marital practices while adhering to Christian ethical standards. Authors:Ahmad Gibson Albustomi, Bambang Qomaruzzaman Pages: 263 - 272 Abstract: This study fundamentally aims to comprehend the construction of religious life in the community, dissect the process of socialization or the introduction of religion within the community, and analyze the internalization of religious life from the perspective of Peter L. Berger. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-holistic method. Data are gathered through documentation and the study of texts authored by Hasan Mustapa. The data analysis method employed is literary analysis, particularly focusing on Hasan Mustapa’s work, “Sasaka Dika Islaman,” using procedures that encompass thematic identification, inclusion and exclusion criteria, structuralization, interpretation, and integration. The findings of this study reveal that: (1) The construction of religious life in the Sundanese community, as depicted in “Sasaka Dika Islaman,” reflects a reflective model of the development of individual and communal life; (2) The process of socializing religious teachings and values produces two patterns of religious behavior in individuals within the community, namely critical and apathetic religious behaviors, each with its own consequences; (3) The process of internalizing religious life gives rise to a duplicative consciousness, encompassing a social self and a non-social self, resulting in alienation. This study contributes to the academic knowledge and discourse in the fields of Religious Studies and Sociology of Religion. The analysis of Peter L. Berger’s social construct offers a fresh perspective in comprehending the religious behaviors of individuals and communities, particularly within the Sundanese community as elucidated in Hasan Mustapa’s work, “Sasaka Dika Islaman.” PubDate: 2024-06-24 DOI: 10.15575/rjsalb.v7i3.30828 Issue No:Vol. 7, No. 3 (2024)
