Abstract: This contribution focuses on the EU, national and institutional practices of HEIs’ third mission regulation with a particular attention to the experiences of Ukrainian HEIs, which they developed in response to the challenges caused by the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. It is argued that currently the regulatory frameworks for the third mission are more established at the intra-institutional level about ensuring the entrepreneurial aspects of the HEIs engagement, whereas the third mission social engagement models still remain on margins of the university life. Abstract: Retirement is a coveted goal for working people. Although it is seen as a period of relaxation and tranquillity, retirement from work, also because it is associated with other relevant changes in an individual’s life related to family relationships, brings with it a number of potential risks that may trigger problems of a psychosocial nature (identity crisis, change of parental role, adaptation to new marital relationships, possible marital crisis and divorce, depressive symptoms and suicidal ideas) which, in turn, may be facilitators of fragility also on the physical side. The attention of the various governments is generally focused on the health problems of those who are retired with a view to containing public expenditure, without considering the fact that the main problems for this particular segment of the population may come from problems of reintegration into social life and occupation of leisure time. When there is no adequate adaptation to the changed conditions of life in the transition from worker to pensioner one fatally exposes oneself to the risk of progressive isolation. the reduction of social contracts, the contraction of the use of one’s cognitive functions with possible consequences in the medium to long term on one’s ability to remain self-sufficient. This would ultimately turn into a socio-medical problem, with the associated costs, when an appropriate policy of psycho-social interventions could delay the effects. Abstract: Social reality is always in the process of changing. Globalisation has made these changes more abrupt with a more powerful impact. Migrations break one equilibrium and then create another. As a result, social reality is constantly facing new challenges. With ever-increasing immigration, social reality does not have time to settle an equilibrium that has to cope with significant changes. These situations can lead to social unrest. Both social innovations and intercultural education are constructive responses to these challenges. The manuscript aims to analyse how intercultural education and social innovation can be an opportunity to contribute to making societies more sustainable and cohesive. Abstract: :Universities are an integral part of the communities in which they are located and linked by the practices of implementing various activities. Medical universities, whose mission is to contribute to public health, have especially tight connections with society. This paper discusses the specifics and perspectives of the third mission of the medical university in peacetime and during war using a specially designed survey. It was determined that the social image of the medical university is provided by various socially oriented policies, primarily by providing medical aid to the population and conducting educational activities. The medical university is also a place for the continuous professional development of doctors and provides expert evaluation at the request of local authorities. Such a system of interaction has been established for years, and the process of collecting actual requests from the community needs to be adjusted and improved. Prospects for cooperation between the medical university and the community include the need to provide aid to the population that suffered as a result of russia’s armed aggression. Therefore, medical educational institutions, providing their main activity, will most likely become important centers for the rehabilitation of the wounded and providing them with psychological help. Thus, although the medical university has a lot of experience in cooperation with the community, this process could be improved by establishing a more constructive cooperation with society through the use of mechanisms developed and based on the appropriate regulatory framework that should meet the challenges of the time. Abstract: Forced migration during the war led to significant changes in academic mobility in Ukraine. This challenge received a worthy response thanks to the support of Ukraine from the European Union, the USA and other countries of Western democracy: many Ukrainian students and professors received greater opportunities to study and work in European and Western universities in general. This article aims to identify the main threats to inclusivity and new opportunities to provide additional resources and educational space for the development of inclusivity, which is directly related to forced migration as one of the challenges to higher education in Ukraine during this war. The methodology of this article is a philosophical approach based on the use of interrelated concepts of challenge and response. The case study of challenges for academic mobility in Ukraine is used as well. Obstacles and limitations of academic mobility during the war appear to be partially overcome, thanks to distance education. The new opportunities that have opened up for the Ukrainian higher education system provide broad and strategic prospects for the deep integration of the Ukrainian higher education system into the European and world educational space. Abstract: For two years now, the Taliban have regained control of the “new” Afghanistan. The images broadcast by Al-Jazeera of Islamic fighters inside the government building, of women fleeing, of violence at Kabul airport made this even clearer. The apparent openness to the press soon proved to be a fleeting veneer of democracy, and a sunset period for human rights began. With the advent of the new Taliban government, the figure of the woman was relegated to the stereotype of wife and mother, while freedom of the press began to clash with radical Islamic thought. The panorama for Afghan women remains uncertain, and it remains to be understood to what extent their capacities, on the one hand, and the external actions of the international community, on the other, can influence the protection of rights and the improvement of conditions for women. The work presented here traces the main critical aspects of the relationship between the media, women journalists, and gender equality in Afghanistan from two perspectives: the socio-historical and the socio-visual. Historical facts and international journalistic images accompany the analysis... PubDate: Wed, 22 May 2024 00:00:00 GMT
Abstract: The manuscript aims to analyze the impact of learning musical instruments on the inclusion process. Music represents a universal language capable of bringing together and connecting seemingly different worlds. Due to this facilitator function in communication, music can become an effective tool for inclusion. Learning music and musical instrument music is fundamental for the cognitive, emotional, and motor development of individuals, with particular regard to children with different disabilities. Adapting the method of Skriabin of Itten and figure notes and to teaching music to disabled children has shown a positive impact on social and emotional improvement and, respectively, on the inclusion of children with disabilities. The study case results will permit the improvement of inclusion through music learning using the developed method. PubDate: Wed, 22 May 2024 00:00:00 GMT
Abstract: Before the start of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, Russia dedicated substantial resources to build a complex ecosystem of disinformation aimed at justifying the invasion of Ukraine as a legitimate and necessary decision. This disinformation manifested through an integrated approach involving various influence operations, including the corruption of agents and state officials, the use of financial projects such as RT and Sputnik, and the management of profit-driven economic operations through state-owned companies. The main objective of these operations was to influence public opinion in the involved countries, impact political processes, especially in democracies, and undermine the development of evidence-based policies, posing significant risks to international security and stability. The objective of this article is to examine the effects of disinformation in Italy with reference to its impact on public opinion. The research question focuses on the relationship between the different themes that constitute the complexity of disinformation about the war in Ukraine and the effect they have. The hypothesis to be tested is that fake news has a direct impact on the formation of public opinion, influencing the public discourse itself. For the purpose of the research, the frequency of recurring themes and their relational structure will be evaluated to determine if there are coherent disinformation narratives among them. Furthermore, key meta-narratives present in Italy will be highlighted, aiming to fuel a coherent system of beliefs. The expected results support the thesis that disinformation and fake news represent significant geopolitical tools in the struggle for power and status in the international community, through the projection of strategic narratives. Ultimately, this phenomenon highlights the centrality of disinformation in the management of international relations and its ability to influence global public discourse. Abstract: Numerous reports show the relationship between sports, educational leadership processes and quality in the education system. This study highlights the importance of teacher leadership in sports and sport management as a key management objective in the complex educational system. It will be essential to identify their pedagogical leadership. We will draw the concept of a coach by selecting its main characteristics, those related and applied to its profession in the educational context. Coaching focuses on what both ourselves and others can achieve, relying on our resources and directing us towards the realisation of what we want so that we can express our true potential and detect interferences. We will analyse what is not working and preventing us from achieving our goals. We will identify changes in people and organisations to develop the potential to provide leadership and talent management training for teaching staff and teams. PubDate: Sat, 27 May 2023 00:00:00 GMT
Abstract: The topic of leadership is extremely relevant today. The increasingly widespread belief that it is possible to acquire behaviour typical of a leader has encouraged the development of research into the determinants of leadership behaviour. Particular interest has been aroused by neuroscientific discoveries about the functioning of the brain in the light of new neuroimaging technologies. The focus on findings from neuroscience and cognitive science is the basis for the terms neuroleader and neuroleadership. This article illustrates the results of this contamination between different scientific fields. PubDate: Sat, 27 May 2023 00:00:00 GMT
Abstract: The article substantiates the need to form leadership competence among future teachers in the conditions of university education. The authors generalized and concretized the concept of “leadership competence” of the future teacher, defining it as a particular competence, namely the meta-competence. The research aimed to define the possible ways to form future teachers’ leadership competence in mastering the educational program “Pedagogy and Psychology.” The algorithm for future teachers’ leadership competence development is suggested in the given article. The confirmation of the accepted hypothesis is justified by the presented results of the study, which showed positive dynamics in the level of formation of the studied competence. The effectiveness of the consistent and purposeful formation of the future teacher’s leadership competence in studying psychological and pedagogical disciplines and passing pedagogical practice has been proven. Abstract: Leadership styles have been the most important factor for HEI’s agility. Studies on educational leadership have grown significantly, but there are insufficient studies on faculty attitudes towards leadership. The purpose of this study is to explore in-depth knowledge and understandings of latent internal and external environmental factors that influence faculty attitudes towards ideal leadership. Data were collected from 1065 teaching and non-teaching staff working at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, most prestigious and largest science and engineering university in Mongolia. This research analyzed the data using thematic analysis. The result of thematic analysis suggests that HEI’s environment in Mongolia tends to be bureaucratic, highly politically motivated, and dysfunctional that create multiple barriers to running higher education institutes in market-oriented ways and hindering university agility to the changes in market and society. It is also evident that university employees dislike the current leadership and seem to have strong commitments to accept participative, transformational, and servant leaderships. This study contributes to the educational leadership literature by providing better understandings of the critical factors affecting faculty perceptions about the existing leadership and their attitudes towards ideal leadership.
