Authors:Romain Benassaya Pages: 1 - 22 Abstract: The objectives of this study were to explore the learning experience of a group of 73 students who have studied French integrally online during one semester, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Their level of satisfaction has been measured, then a thematic analysis was conducted to identify aspects of distance learning that were sources of difficulties for them, and which require a remediation, and those having a meliorative dimension, and should be maximized. The results indicated that the participants to the study perceive distance teaching of French as moderately satisfying and suggest that the feeling of isolation and the quality of interactions during distance classes are the main source of difficulties and unsatisfaction for them. Contextual and technical aspects of distance learning were also identified as sources of difficulties. The positive aspects of distance learning of French mainly related to the flexibility and opportunities offered by the technical mediation of teaching. This diagnostic allowed the researcher to determine orientations for effective and satisfying distance teaching of French as a foreign language. PubDate: 2021-12-31 Issue No:Vol. 44, No. 142 (2021)

Authors:Wiroj Kosolritthichai Pages: 82 - 118 Abstract: Scientific research is a compulsory task not only for higher education learners but also for secondary and university instructors. It can also reveal knowledge, skills, the ability to conduct research as well as academic competence among teachers. In Thailand, for example, classroom research has been promoted among secondary and university instructors for the promotion of academic credentials and professional careers. This research aims to find the instructional models that Thai instructors have implemented during their instruction and for the benefit of their learners by synthesizing the researches conducted by French instructors in Thailand in the field of learning management of French as a Foreign Language which were published from 2011 until 2021. The synthesis of research was carried out through two qualitative synthesis methods such as content analysis and qualitative meta-synthesis. The results of the synthesis show us that Thai instructors used a total of 18 instructional models to ensure the instruction of French with an emphasis on cognitive development as well as the communication skills in French of their learners. In terms of research methodology in teaching French as a Foreign Language, the Thai instructor-researchers carried out the pre-experimental research in French class with an experimental group evaluated through a pre-test and a post-test. Authors:Parkpoom Jaimeearee Pages: 119 - 145 Abstract: This study aims to analyze the interactions between the protagonists in Samuel Beckett's drama En attendant Godot. The theory of dialogue analysis and discourse analysis were applied; hence, the literary analysis on interactions among protagonists was not employed in this study. The results showed that the language characteristics found in the protagonists’ dialogues included repetitions, grammatical errors, foul language, interruption, uses of language that were not associated with actions, uses of synonymous words, and uses of imperative sentences. The characters’ language characteristics also reflected emotional and psychological conditions of anxiety and instability of events not yet to come. The study also found that everyday interactions occurred with communicative purposes. Interlocutors were targeting to communicate their needs. The interactions among the protagonists in this play arose from chitchatting dialogues and nonsensical actions. While the protagonist waited for Godot, the protagonists communicated with each other only to kill time and eliminate silence. The conversations did not express clear communicative purposes. The protagonist's words and actions led to what was known as the "absurdity" of communication. The interaction between the protagonists in Samuel Beckett's drama En attendant Godot, thus was considered communication failure. PubDate: 2021-12-31 Issue No:Vol. 44, No. 142 (2021)
