Authors:Vicente Flores-Áles, Marta Torres-González Pages: 9 - 14 Abstract: This work presents and values a model of complementary activity to the students training based on monographic works carried out from the analysis and review of scientific publications. This model promotes an extra motivation in those students with a real interest in learning beyond the basic content included in the subject program. In most cases, this proposal generates an important attraction when facing a type of unknown information. Firstly, a basic introduction to the problem is developed; after that, a selection of a coherent number of articles or communications is done, analysing the key contributions on the subject at hand; and finally, conclusions are stated. Exceptionally, it is proposed that students add a section including real cases observed in their daily environment (e.g., new products, pathologies and damages, execution systems). Authors:Azar Abizada, Ulkar Gurbanova, Ainura Iskandarova, Narmin Nadrzada Pages: 15 - 29 Abstract: Large number of unfilled teaching positions in rural regions is a common problem in most of the countries, including Azerbaijan. In this paper, we try to identify factors affecting preferences of teachers on workplace and thus, the reasons for not choosing schools in rural areas and propose an incentive mechanism to reduce number of unfilled vacancies in these regions of Azerbaijan. To understand the factors affecting student preferences, we surveyed around 2000 junior students majoring in various education programs in different universities. Based on the survey results, we identify the factors affecting the decisions of the prospective teachers and the barriers that keep them away from choosing schools in rural areas. Based on our findings, we propose an incentive mechanism to fulfil the vacancies in rural area schools. PubDate: 2022-08-31 DOI: 10.20868/abe.2022.2.4941 Issue No:Vol. 6, No. 2 (2022)
Authors:Jorge Gallego-Sánchez-Torija, Jesús García-Herrero, Cesar Bedoya-Frutos Pages: 30 - 37 Abstract: As a result of the integration of the university system in the European Higher Education Area in 2010, competences, methodology and evaluation have attracted the attention of researchers in the field of university teaching, while the contents have been relegated to a background. The present research aims to find out whether the contents that are taught respond to the changing demands of society or, otherwise, remain static and may become obsolete. The compulsory subject "Facilities Project" of the Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid is chosen as a case study. For this, an open survey is carried out to the students who take it in two successive years. As it is an open survey, students are offered a greater opportunity to express freely, both their answers and the reasons they have forgiving them. It is detected that they positively value much of the content and that they also value, to a lesser extent, other content negatively. Different evaluations are collected for each of the topics that make up the subject and also the reasons that, together with the suggestions, allow measures to be taken to improve the content offered. It is concluded that the contact with the opinion of the students allows obtaining a valuable point of view when keeping the contents updated. The knowledge of motivational orientations allows teachers to enhance the performance of their students. The objective of this work is to compare the motivation of students from two Industrial Engineering centres of the University of Extremadura (Spain). To evaluate these factors, the MAPE-II tool was implemented. The methodology assesses student motivation by focusing on three motivational orientations: learn, results and fear of failure motivation. In addition, the tool allows to know and quantify the motivational orientations of the students through a questionnaire. The Cronbach's Alpha test was used to analyse the internal consistency of the student's responses. Centre 1 presents a higher value in the learning motivation dimension, comparing the results of the dimensions obtained in the two centres analysed. Centre 2 obtained a large increase in the mean value of the second dimension related to motivation for results. Finally, it should be noted that the fear of failure dimension shows much higher values in Centre 2. The analysis of the student's motivational orientation makes it possible to determine negative aspects of learning and to be able to establish the necessary intervention measures to maximize their performance. Authors:Licia Pietrosemoli-de-Dikdan, Carlos Rodríguez-Monroy, Yilsy Nuñez-Guerrero Pages: 46 - 56 Abstract: Construction stakeholders plan to guarantee the success of projects. Still, the results frequently are different in quality, time, or costs. The disruptions are frequent, and the stakeholders must be ready to react promptly to changes while keeping competitiveness and sustainability. This goal requires proper construction education. Based on diverse civil engineering and architecture programs, the article evaluates if current construction education includes past knowledge, notions of sustainability, and global matters to allow its participants to identify challenges and risks, giving them the tools to act appropriately. The results show different construction education perspectives. Some are very advanced, and others are not. The Venezuelan case is a reference to link theory and practice in the construction sector. Incorporating critical analysis and comparisons with data and cases from diverse successes, disruptions, or errors is presented as education innovation to support this industry's competitiveness and sustainability.
