      Answering Pino Varchetta’s questions. The ordinary flow of life has placed the au-thor, through a process of self-location, with conscious/unconscious naturalness in interdisciplinarity: "it wasn’t me who placed myself [...] life did it in becoming between the idiographic and the nomothetic" with the only constraint of a con-tinuous, growing curiosity of the author towards the human and knowledge. A growing risk is cognitive imperialism, economic fallaciousness, with a conception of human subjects reduced to "maximising rational individuals" driven by a de-ployed financialised capitalism.

      Gargani, in The Creative Filter, tak-ing up a discourse on truth and the conditions of truth that had been raised by Heidegger and subsequently taken up by contemporary philosophy, from Derrida to Rorty, supports the the-sis of the non-correspondence between language and world, between representation and world. It is the rejection of the idea of representation as correspondence as an adaequatio rei et intellectus. Only if we assume the end of the correspondence between language and the world we can imagine exceeding, removing, adding. And this does not mean that we lose ra-tionality or end up in the pastiche. On the contrary, we open ourselves to the infinite world of possibilities which, by rationally breaking into a reason in crisis, as Gargani would say, amaze us and push us to create. And we know well that we humans do not create from nothing, but always from something that already exists, just as the future does not arise from an eternal present, but from the past.

      The artistic and scientific images that we construct to represent reality conform to "representative codes" that for a long time have been considered as "natural". However around the beginning of the twentieth century people thought to have discovered that such codes are fundamentally ar-bitrary. This gave rise to an outpouring of representative revolutions in art, mu-sic, literature and even in physics and mathematics. But after that surge of crea-tivity in the domain of codes people realized that: 1) it exists a sort of "natural selection" of representative codes based on the co-evolution between human physiology and expressiveness of codes and on the compatibility and effective-ness of codes, to the effect that the codes that survived are stronger than those that went astray along the way (such co-evolution validates the systemic links be-tween us and the rest of nature). 2) not all representative codes have the same strength: some are more profound and some are more shallow. The former ones bring to mind the classic problem of the unreasonable effectiveness of mathemat-ics in the natural sciences, tackled among others by Eugene Wigner. This problem subdivides in other more specific questions: why some painters paint fractal im-ages although they ignore the mathematical structure of fractals' Why since an-cient times painters, architects and musicians have based their creations on the golden section'

      Transdisciplinarity. Functional magnetic resonance imaging allows the explora-tion of brain processes, which underlie human behaviour. Research interest has focused mainly on brain processes associated with aesthetic experience. Neuro-scientific research finds continuous reference with the observation of human be-haviour, as well as with the universe of human sciences, particularly psychology and philosophy. 
The advancement of neuroscientific research has led to the confrontation with sociocognition from a motor perspective, to the construct of the theory of mind and the tuning of the behaviour of others. In transdisciplinary terms, have been relevant the approaches to Bowlby's theory of attachment and Freud’s concept of empathy, which have been empirically verified by the most re-cent physiological and neuroscientific discoveriest. One of the areas that will be most relevant to neuroscience in the future, and which will in itself imply a trans-disciplinary approach, is that of the relationship between humans beings and ro-bots. The frequently asked question "what is the deep meaning of neuroscientific research'" can only be answered if the dialogue with other disciplines and the humanities and natural sciences is allowed and developed.

      On the one hand, imagining "true" scientific knowledge as incorporeal and asituated, on the other hand, the need for a "tak-ing the floor" and its eco-social and spatio-temporal localization. Knowledge is a creative activity always and in any case concretely in progress, emerging within the broader "constitutive interdependencies" of which it is part. The perception of the unique and contingent character of every single happening cannot be dis-connected from the looking of the observer to whom it happens. The perspective is that of a convergence between knowledge that has long been compartmentalized by crossing the various disciplinary fields and the eco-social networks that sup-port them. All this and more nourishes the hope to "listen to the world" against the advance of a civilization project now out of control.

      In order to advance in the field of transdisciplinarity, it is essential to move from the cognitive processes to the affectivity, assuming transdisciplinarity as a lived experience. Assuming transdisciplinarity as a lived experience imposes as a fun-damental question not the "how" but the "why" to do it, investigating the deep motivations that push us to make this transition. Strengthened by the thought of Pauli and Jung, the crucial question concerning transdisciplinarity arises: what reflections and discoveries from the natural sciences and the humanities need to be involved in order to overcome the differential dictated by Dilthey between the natural sciences and the spiritual sciences' A non-restrictive version of rationali-ty brings affectivity and cognition together; the recent discoveries of neurosci-ence support Pauli and Jung’s hypothesis that mind, body, psyche and matter are not mutually exclusive. that mind, body, psyche and matter constitute an insepa-rable unity, against any dualistic hypothesis of human experience.

      Justice and the "Northwest Passage". In the contemporary society of risk, the practices of Justice, still blocked for the most part on liberal and conservative instances, seem to be impermeable to a reflection on the hypothesis of a "restorative justice". In order to facilitate this transit, the recognition of the cognitive and communicative function of emotions is essential. In this direction the hybridisation of the norms of positive law with the subjectivities of literature may be a fruitful prospect. In the background, the voices and thought of Hume, Smith and Whitman and the hypotheses of psycho-socio-analysis, as an aid to cope with the trauma of the confrontation with different disciplinary vertices, are a framework of reference that cannot be renounced.

      Eulogy of extravagance. In our society, interdependencies and complexity domi-nate. The exponential growth of complexity inextricably linked to digitization drags with it that of specializations. Knowledge is fragmented and its articulation on the one hand requires the delimitation of individual boundaries to have self-consciousness, on the other it requires the development of interactions with the environment in order not to risk sclerosis. Therefore, on the one hand, a self-referential closure is indispensable, a verticalization of knowledge, a sectoral specialization that makes one take note of the logic of one’s own system. But, on the other hand, interaction, exchange, competition with other systems that re-spond to other logics, and which constitute the environment in which the disci-plinary sub-system evolves is equally essential. Generalism as a specialization, therefore. Generalism, not genericity. Generalism as a search for an overall, transversal, non-single-cause vision. A vision of the system. Knowledge can only be crossing, extra vagante. Follow the patchwork of the possible of evolution. For this it is essential to intertwine different fields of knowledge, to develop a proudly mestizo if not bastard hybrid culture.

      The cultural heritage metaphor of interdisciplinarity: stories, knowledge, technolo-gies and professions. The cultural heritage is a strategic sector for the development of society, economy and work. An essential dimension of the management and use of cultural heritage is the process of its digitization. In addition to the cultural heritage, there is now a digital cultural heritage that ensures its conser-vation, spread and enhancement. New technologies have transformed the organi-zation of museums, art galleries and archaeological sites. The same technologies have enabled the information and research networks to spread international-ly.Digitalization has enabled culture to experience new links with territories and citizens since the beginning of the 2000s and in particular during the lockdown imposed by Covid-19 pandemic. Many digital activities aimed at enhancing arts require both classical and scientific studies. They involve on the one hand the creation of virtual realities and models for deeper knowledge, on the other hand they need the use of artificial intelligence and big data in order to rebuild the past cultures or to know the flow of visitors in the art sites. The professions, the skills and the training courses linked to the digitalization of the cultural heritage also arise from the interaction between physical and virtual systems, from knowledge and experiences of different nature.       What is transdisciplinarity and what challenge does transdisciplinarity offer to ways and forms we build the knowledge of the reality' Reflecting on contribu-tions to this issue of our magazine and to previous one, the authors realized that, inside a common understanding of the necessity of a connected knowledge, dif-ferent interpretations of the dialogue among disciplines coexist. Starting from the finding of a line of continuity among disciplinarity, multidisciplinarity, interdis-ciplinarity, transdisciplinarity, a range of worthy questions is raising: relation-ship seen as not only social behaviour but also as a structural characteristic of macro and microphysical reality; the unavoidable reference to complexity not just of reality but particularly of the way we deal and know the reality; challeng-es, uncertainties and limits of transdisciplinary exploration, that questions most bases of our relationship with perceivable reality.
