    • Abstract: Title: Mixed ligand complex of monovalent copper with benzimidazole derivatives and alanine: Synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial studies
      Authors : Yadav, Poonam; Sharma, Shobhana; Kumari, Suman; Seema; Ranka, Mamta : xed ligand complexes of transition metal ions exhibit broad range of biological activities. Schiff bases containing azomethine (C=N) group and amino acids are versatile compounds for design of ternary complexes. An attempt has been made to synthesize novel copper(I) complex by the reaction of two ligands, 2-N-(4-methyl phenyl ethanimine) benzimidazole [MPEIBI] as L1 and an amino acid Alanine as L2, and freshly prepared cuprous chloride solution in 1:1:1 molar ratio through conventional reflux method. The synthesized ligand and copper(I) complex are characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determination, magnetic moment measurement, spectroscopic techniques. These synthesized compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial studies against bacterial strains, B. subtilis, E. coli and fungal pathogens, T. ressei, C. albicans. The Cu(I) complex has shown remarkable antibacterial and antifungal activity.Page(s): 1539-1544

           the dicarboxylate ligand with S-S flexible linkage

    • Abstract: Title: Syntheses, crystal structures and properties of three compounds based on the dicarboxylate ligand with S-S flexible linkage
      Authors : Wang, Xin; Wang, Ying; Guan, Lei : Three new compounds, [MnL(2,2΄-bipy)2]n·1.5nH2O (1), Co(4,4ˊ-bipy)(H2O)4·2HL (2) and 2HL·(4,4ˊ-bipyH)·2H2O (3) (H2L = 2,2΄-dithiosalicylic acid, 2,2΄-bipy = 2, 2΄-bipyridine, 4,4΄-bipy = 4,4΄-bipyridine), have been synthesized by hydrothermal and evaporation methods. Structural determination reveals that compound 1 shows a one-dimensional chain structure with L2- ligands adopting bridging coordination modes, compound 2 features a mononuclear structure with uncoordinated HL- anions, balancing the charges, compound 3 is a new inclusion compound of HL- anions and 4,4ˊ-bipyH cation with π-π stacking interactions. In compounds 1-3, the flexible S-S linkages can make H2L ligands present different conformations of dihedral angles between the terminal benzene rings. The S-O hypervalent bonds can stabilize the conformations. Thermogravimetric analyses and fluorescence measurements of compounds 1 and 2 have been performed. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibit broad blue fluorescent emission bands at 420 nm and 424 nm, respectively.Page(s): 1545-1550

      Authors : Ni, Zhiming; Ding, Shuchen; Qu, Yuan; Yu, Hongbo; Xia, Junjie : In this study, a Mn(II)-based coordination polymer with the chemical composition of {[Mn(L)(TBTA)(H2O)2]ꞏH2O}n (1) has been prepared by reacting Mn(OAc)2ꞏ2H2O with the flexible ligand 1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl)-2-butylene in the aid of the carboxylic acid ligand tetrabromoterephthalic acid (H2TBTA) through the mixed-ligand method. Its application value on osteosarcoma has been measured, and the internal principle is discussed simultaneously. The inhibitory activity of the new compound on the multiplication of osteosarcoma cells is evaluated using the Cell Counting Kit-8 detection kit. The facilitation of the LKB1-mTORC1 signalling pathway is estimated via real-time RT-PCR.Page(s): 1551-1556

    • Abstract: Title: Application value of Co(II) coordination polymer in the treatment and operational nursing of hypothermia
      Authors : Li, Sha; Li, Ye; Zhou, Fang-Yu : A novel coordination polymer, [Co3(OABDC)2(bipy)3 (H2O)6]n(CH3OH)n(H2O)4.5n (1), has been synthesised by hydrothermal method with the coordination of 4,4′-bipy ligand and 3,5-dicarboxyphenoxyacetic acid (H3OABDC) to cobalt(II) ions. The treatment and nursing application values of 1 on hypothermia in patients undergoing surgery has been examined, and the specific mechanism is explored. The application of the compound on the body temperature is measured with an in vitro infrared thermometer. Then, the relative expression of vascular α-receptors is determined by real-time RT-PCR. The toxicity and biocompatibility of the new compound is also determined.Page(s): 1557-1563
